21  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing in Bitcoin companies? on: September 30, 2014, 05:40:24 PM
I guess we have to wait for some of the early companies to IPO. Smiley
But how do we get in? every single IPO in town seems like a scam to me.

Check out the security section on bitcointalk subforum. Lots of bitcoin companies to "invest" in.

23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal VISA and other companies with BTC. It is good? on: September 17, 2014, 04:43:50 AM
Doubt paypal will lower the fee for bitcoin low enough to hurt their own bottom line.

And as soon as buyer realize they don't even need paypal and deal with merchant directly, paypal will go away.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's about time to turn off PoW mining on: September 08, 2014, 12:26:03 AM
All the current PoS coins can be seen as building on top of bitcoin (PoW).

Without bitcoin and bitcoin holders, none of the PoS coin will have any value since no one will be able use a secured ledger distributed public network to buy the PoS coin hence giving it a value.
25  Economy / Economics / Re: How profitable is BTC daytrading? on: September 08, 2014, 12:20:51 AM
it is profitable only to experts for most of people it is just gambling

Daytrading is a gambling regardless if it is done by experts or none experts.

Professional traders only good at one thing when it comes to day trading, that is risk controlled.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC News: Charlie Shrem admits unlicensed money transfers on: September 06, 2014, 03:53:22 AM

Government is out of control. 5 years jail time for someone who just buy and sell btc.

If they want to go after drug vendors, they should arrest them rather than someone who just facility payment.
27  Economy / Economics / Re: You work your butt off, and a rich dude does nothing and gets rich - how? on: September 06, 2014, 03:44:57 AM
Around 60% of the worlds richest wasnt self made. The money they got now were the money made by their family.

If that's true, what's wrong with that? They'll have to make good investments (and therefore produce for the society) if they want to maintain their wealth.
Please see page 1. Asset holders do not have to work.

Wealth from inheritance usually do not last longer than 3 generations. Children from wealthy family are usually quite spoiled and feel entitled without working hard.
28  Economy / Economics / Re: You work your butt off, and a rich dude does nothing and gets rich - how? on: September 05, 2014, 03:16:05 AM
"Capitalism" means the society value capital and not labor.
Hence, people who know how to manage money get ahead of the games.
it's just about how to think out off the box to manage the money you hace, not about work work and work  Undecided

This is only true if the capital exceed certain size and the manager know how to manage the money and labor.

Even if everything is done right, there are still risk which the money manager can not control.
29  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoins with elections on: September 05, 2014, 03:13:54 AM
In US, I've heard some candidates accept BTC for donations. This really inspired me to ask myself about the electoral financing in political campaigns. The US' electoral commission is more energic when it comes to show the spending of the parties but in other countries (specially in Latin America and Africa) I say also good because withdrawing will be easier and they will have more control about their spending but it also let the door open to use some money laundering during these times or am I wrong?

What do you think about the paper of Bitcoin in elections?

Kind of open up all kind of fund raising issue if they do that. There are rules for taking money and limit on how much money politician can accept per person.
30  Economy / Economics / Re: Centralized Exchange on: September 04, 2014, 04:01:17 PM
Here's my issue with BTC.  Unlike stocks and currencies, there's no centralized exchange for BTC verses fiat.  I was looking at the BTC to USD rate and everyplace is different.

Google = 477.17
Coinbase = 479.92
BTC-E = 475.01
GHASH = 501.18

Obviously I'm not even touching the spread.  Each exchange does whatever they like without reporting via common framework to tie buy/sell prices together.

Price is different because each exchange has different level of trust. And the bank changes them different rate when customers do wire transfer.

When all fees factor in, you will be surprise how close the price really is.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Could Make ATM Skimmers a Thing of the Past on: September 04, 2014, 03:58:17 PM
I think BTC is easy to find ways to avoid such kind of scam comparing with the ATM. It is decentralised and anonymous.

One scam goes away. That open many other doors for other scams.

Check out the security and altcoin sub forum to see how many get scammed "invested" in those companies, coins.
32  Economy / Economics / Re: Must Watch Video: America : Freedom to Fascism on: September 03, 2014, 05:24:59 PM
Debt based currency is fine if the system let people go bankrupt and let them start from fresh again.

The money "created" will be wipe out during the recession and depression. Only the strong will survive if the goverment let people fails.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ethereum still has 27k more coins to dump! on: September 03, 2014, 05:18:47 PM
Selling 25k coins wouldn't drop the price below $100 USD please stop with the FUD..

You are right.

But dumping 25k in a day or two will drop the coin BY at least $100 USD.

Remember cooperate mining farms are selling coin everyday to recoup their investment and electricity.
34  Economy / Economics / Re: Confusing Capitalism with Fractional Reserve Banking on: September 02, 2014, 05:33:39 PM
Capitalism is just one system among many for society to organize itself. The people have chosen the system.

The bailout of cooperate America has nothing to do with capitalism. It is socialism at work.

Apple signs up credit-card companies for NFC payments

Apple has reportedly struck a deal with American Express, MasterCard and Visa to bring NFC mobile payments to the iPhone 6.
The agreements between Apple and the credit-card companies will be officially announced next week alongside the iPhone 6, iPhone 6L, next iPad and, possibly, the iWatch, according to Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg's source, the inclusion of the NFC chip in the next iPhone and improvements in its Touch ID fingerprint scanner "will allow consumers to securely pay for items in a store with the touch of a finger".
Re/code separately reported the deal with American Express, while The Information claimed a deal had been signed with Visa back in July.
Fourth time lucky?
Of course, this isn't the first time NFC payment rumours have attached themselves to an iPhone launch. Speculation that Apple will adopt the technology has been rife since the 4S, but as yet nothing has materialised.
In 2011, the company introduced its own rival iBeacon technology and, when the iPhone 5 was launched, Phil Schiller, SVP at Apple, categorically ruled out NFC, telling AllThingsD the company's own Passbook system "does the kinds of things customers need today".
However, in the three years since its launch, iBeacon support by third parties has been slow to take off, which may have prompted Apple to adopt NFC alongside its own technology.

What do you think?

Good way to reduce identity fraud and at the same time making iphone a pos.

If the fee is low enough, it will negate all the benefits btc has,

38  Economy / Economics / Re: The markets are rigged, central banks use printed money to buy stocks on: August 30, 2014, 10:55:48 PM
Pretty sure now Mr Ben and friends are printing magic FIAT money now to buy on the BTC lows  Roll Eyes

the only difference is that bitcoin can't go to 0, someone will always be willing to buy it at some price.
when a failed business that is being propped up by the central banks goes bankrupt because no one buys its products it gets removed from the stock exchange and the stocks are worth 0 no matter how much fiat the banks print.

If the business is subsidized by government, it will still have value even if they have negative cash flow and lose money every year.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Which will have the greatest effect on btc? on: August 30, 2014, 10:52:16 PM
You forget ETF and wall street mutual/hedge fund managers.

The combine group of hedge fund managers have access to more than 100B in capital.
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: I had a bad dream, worried it is a prophecy.... on: August 29, 2014, 06:24:43 PM
I had a dream that I was in the future and I was junking my old hardware from the "Bitcoin days", everything was obviously worthless, except what was also worthless was I was junking my wallets with my private keys and all my Bitcoins! In my dream I was trashing them because they were hopeless worthless.... nothing different than say keeping a copy of Doom running on my Windows 8 machine, stupid nostalgia and time to move on.

A friend of mine was laughing at me that I actually believed silly alpha numeric codes had any value. It was terrible!

Something obviously happened but i woke up before I could find out. Still sick to my stomach.

Assuming we have not reach technology and innovation cap, there will be someone in the future that will come up with something better than bitcoin.

So, given enough time, bitcoin will be worthless one day.
