21  Economy / Reputation / Re: Appreciation Thread on: April 03, 2022, 08:50:31 PM
Congratulations to you Agbe.

It all your efforts that got you this far, keep pushing, don't relent, don't be discouraged always think positive about yourself, don't allow anyone makes you feel you don't worth it.

In an online forum they are two kinds of people
People who want to see the best in you  and makes you feel worthless.
People who wants to bring out the best in you by helping build it.
So it left for you to choose, I believe you choose wisely.
Once again Congratulations

23  Economy / Speculation / Predicts Bitcoin price by 2025 on: March 31, 2022, 10:52:49 PM
Bitcoin has proven that it worth trusted and been risk for. Bitcoin has increased beyond measure and it still claiming even with it's ups and downs. Bitcoin is the Mother of Cryptocurrency (Altcoins).
Bitcoin was sold at $1--$29 on April 2011--2012 but then individuals didn't  see the potentials in Bitcoin and even if they did, they lack trust and couldn't risk.
At the year of 2016--2017 the price of Bitcoin travel from $900--$19,000 with it ups and downs, this time some individual with good vision started developing trust but less risk.
The year 2021--2022, Bitcoin shed over 50% of it value, the ups and downs continued which makes many investors being to loss hope and most of them withdraw from Bitcoin But at November 2021 Bitcoin skyrocketed to $67000 and later drop to $45,755, At this stage everyone wants to invest in Bitcoin not wondering the risk involve because Bitcoin has cleared there doubt by proving to all individuals that it worth trusted and risk for.

24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New vision about cryptocurrency on: March 31, 2022, 06:05:22 PM
When i use the word cryptocurrency I'm classifying all coins including Bitcoin. or is Bitcoin not a cryptocurrency?

In summary of what I wrote on my topic earlier, was that I thought cryptocurrency was only about trading I didn't know  they are more to it until I found this forum.
Bitcoin is a Cryptocurrency but some of us prefer to separate Bitcoin from other coins as in Bitcoin vs Altcoins because like pooya87 said, Altcoins are mostly used as assets for speculative trading and in the last few years so many people went broke by trading hyped up coins like DOGE or SHIB.  If you want to invest in something, invest in coins with real and actual future like Bitcoin.  If you want to speculate, go for trends or whatever coin's chart you think has a good future.

But as mentioned above.  No need to understand the technical side of Bitcoin.  It is a currency and if you learn how to use it, it is all you need.  Try out functions and read threads on this forum if you want to learn more about its technical side.  There is so much resource a human life is probably not enough to catch up with all the information around.  But the more you know, the more you will love it.

Regards,
PrivacyG
Thanks privacyG and witcher_sense  for enlighten me more on how to separate Bitcoin for altcoins. General i classify all coins as cryptocurrency even Bitcoin but now I will always specify  it  anytime been use.
25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How true is this ? on: March 30, 2022, 11:39:49 AM
Before any projects developers start introducing the project I believe they have gone into deep research and have every knowledge about that project, for me I don't think asking a question can make you detect if that project is good or bad, many bad projects have developed different skills and they have also mastered the mind of humans, when asking a question they know the angle which you are coming from. the best way is to stay off any online business you know nothing about especially on social media and YouTube influencers because so many bad projects have overshadow the good projects and even if you want to try always invest on something you can afford to lose.

Real appreciate Pooya87 and Wapfika for taking time to read my topic and understanding the content of information being passed.

28  Other / Beginners & Help / New vision about cryptocurrency on: March 30, 2022, 12:33:46 AM
Some years ago, have been hearing about cryptocurrency but don't know anything about it, but when I came across a friend who is into cryptocurrency, anytime we are together he Always talk about how the coin rises, and how he sell when it rises  and how much profits he made after selling, to me it was easy and want to be part of it so I told he to put me through, he showed me how to buy, sell, swap.

Thought have learnt it all, to my own knowledge I basically classify cryptocurrency as a trade, not knowing that is the nursery aspect of cryptocurrency and they are much more which I'm lacking behind.

Every since I'm a member of Bitcointalk forum have heard many things which cryptocurrency can be use for and what it made for. my vision about cryptocurrency change totally.

I'm not writing this for anything I'm just being real because if not for bitcointalk forum I will not be more enlighten about cryptocurrency and even the BBCODE, Lightning network, it my first time hearing about it and having a little knowledge too.
29  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sportybet Scam Beware on: March 27, 2022, 11:45:15 AM
Thanks BitMaxz and nakamura12 for correcting me i really appreciate, didn't know that a related topic was already posted and also that one can open a scam accusation thread. Thanks once again correction noted.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I handle this? on: March 27, 2022, 11:12:11 AM
Firstly you don't go around telling people about cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin because I believe the word now is civilize and everybody have heard the word  crypto but they don't know the ups, downs and risks involved in crypto.

secondly I think if you really want to share your knowledge about cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin to family and friends do well to exercise more on the risks involved , do not force them allow them to indicate interest themselves.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / what bitcointalk forum is all about on: March 26, 2022, 05:25:36 PM
I know this may be posted earlier but I think it should be wise to post it again because many beginners and newbies like me do not understand how to use the search button, so it may be easier for them to see and also be able to go through it.

Founded by Satoshi Nakamoto (also the founder of Bitcoin), Bitcointalk is a public forum where blockchain enthusiasts,
developers, and crypto investors discuss topics about Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain in general. https://www.meetbunch.com/the-bitcointalk-guide#:~:text=Founded%20by%20Satoshi%20Nakamoto%20(also,cryptocurrencies%2C%20and%20blockchain%20in%20general.

Important/ Advantage of Bitcointalk forum__
To me I think there is only one important of bitcointalk forum which is;

____Bitcointalk forum help newbies to improve in communication and writing skills.
_____Seek assistance and support in the area lacking behind such as trading, investing, security and guide and many more
_____Better engagement: to engage there time is something that is knowledgeable instead of wasting there time for something that is irrelevant.
_____help to bring out the creatives side of a member

Disadvantage of bitcointalk forum
Miscommunication____ miscommunication is one of the disadvantage in online forum, people with different sense of humour have been misunderstanding each other because forum is missed up with different people with different knowledge and different ways of understanding.

32  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Click here if you like heeding to opinions on: March 26, 2022, 03:42:06 PM
I'm new to bitcointalk but not crypto, if you like heeding to advices here are what I learnt the hard way.

1. Don't put all eggs in one basket.
2. Avoid connecting your wallet to too many exchanges (Defi Platforms).
3. Don't screenshot your seed-phrase and store in your phone.
4. Be careful, some people will pretend they are bringing to you a good offer, instead, they are intentionally taking.
5. Avoid risky airdrops, don't click too many scammer links anywhere you don't trust. The scammers won't say: "Hey give me your seed phrase", they will say something unique and desirable.
you forgot the most important one which is investing in what you can afford to lose.

Secondly don't always be in a hurry, always take your time,be patience whenever you want to make a decision.

Be a goal getter, always have a targets

And remember the best advice is the advice you give yourself.
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My First Year on this Forum on: March 26, 2022, 03:27:20 PM

You can also download any of this wallet listed above since you have your seed phrase with you, your wallet can be restored.

Make sure when downloading it you clicked on the Google play link so that you won't download a Clone one.

I believe crypto especially Bitcoin can survive more than  5 years and even more.

Always feel free to ask your questions you are in the right platform. A home full of knowledgeable people.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell people about bitcoin but don't force them to invest on: March 26, 2022, 12:33:07 PM
Yes I concur with you on this, when introducing anything especially anything that has to do with money investment like Bitcoin to anyone we should do well to emphasize more on  the difficult part of it more than the juicy part of it.

We shouldn't Force anyone to invest, it's better for that person to indicate interest by his or her self, this shows that the person or that individual understand the basic concept of the investment especially the risk aspect.
37  Economy / Scam Accusations / Sportybet Scam Beware on: March 26, 2022, 12:16:42 PM
Please everyone beware of this person or anyone telling you something like this.

*Hello! Hope you are Having a great day, am Victor will like to teach you how to make 100k with your phone! you just agree that 30% of the money is my own share for introducing you. Are you interested? If yes then let's start*

They are all scammers, i repeat they are all scammers do not listen to them never pay attention to what ever they are saying in short block them totally.
They will give you a website to open a sportybet account after you have opened it they will ask you to fund it with your card I mean your ATM card, after you have successfully fund it they will send you a link to click on the link and fill up some details this the link
 ( https://my.forms.app/petergarba/welcometosportybetbalanceadderwebsite )
DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK I REPEAT DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK

once you click on that link and fill up your details you used in opening the account they automatically have access to that your sportybet account they will log you out, they will start funding the account because your ATM card is stored there automatically by doing so they are withdrawing your money from your bank account to the sportybet account then withdrawing it to their own account.

I found out about this scam because I indicated that have interest, so they send me the website to register a sportybet account which I did and they ask me to fund my account with my credit card, then I used my credit card  which i normally used to do transaction online, I fund it anytime I want to use it and leave it empty when I'm done, I fund it that same day and use it to credit my sportybet account after that he sent me a link, the link contain all your information you use in opening your sportybet account, see below:

LOGIN CORRECTLY TO VERIFY THAT YOU ARE AN ACTIVE SPORTYBET BALANCE ADDER USER

1.

FULL NAME

2.

EMAIL

3.

SPORTY**BET**NUMBER

4.

SPORTY**BET**PASS**WORD

6.

SELECT HACKING GRADE

1k to load 100k

2k to load 200k

3k to load 300k

4k to load 400k

5k to load 500k
I fill up everything and I submitted it after sometime I started seeing OTP messages on my phone, I tried to log in mine sportybet account I couldn't login again they were saying wrong password, so I deactivate the account after sometime I  reactivate it again and changed my password and my transaction pin, then I now have access to my account, I went to my transaction details in my sportybet account I saw all the amount they were trying to withdraw for my account but they didn't succeed because there was no money in the account and they couldn't withdraw the one I deposited because it is little. I wish I can upload images I would have loved to send some proof.

Beware and stay safe

38  Other / Beginners & Help / passphrase instead of password on: March 15, 2022, 07:15:48 PM
i was making research on Google about security and privacy when I came across something that get me wondering and decided to make more research and I find out some reasons why I think such word was made and i decided to share it here. this is what I came across on Google "Why some organizations recommend passphrases instead of passwords"
Passphrase contain random words which are common and makes up a phrase or sentence which makes it easier for humans to remember but difficult for computers to generate, estimate, guess or crack. passphrase are not repeated, reused across other account.
Example of Passphrase: "boost common elevator calm hack cotton certain evil canyon" and so on, this will take centuries to be hack or crack with model computers.
                                while
Password are words that are chosen, memorized or created by the user that  contain character length( the number of words),  special characters ( such as @,#,$,&,*), Uppercase and lowercase (the use of capital and small letters), Numbers.
Example of password: Britanialevard@876. therefore a strong password is recognised with the number of possible combination of letters, specific characters thereby increasing the time the computer will use in hacking or cracking the password.

Why some organizations recommend passphrases instead of passwords.
                   passphrase.
__Passphrase are generated by the system
__they are not reused
__passphrase is longer and more complex
__Passphrase is more Cyber secure than the most complex password
___passphrase are easy to remember by human but  difficult for computer to crack
                          password
__Password are created by the user
__password are mostly reused
__password is a short character set of mixed digits
___password are also easy to remember because they are been reuse but easier for come to crack or hack.

https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-3/sp800-63b.html#memsecret NIST recommends that organizations should be considering implementing exposed passwords screening  https://www.enzoic.com/what-is-exposed-password-screening/  as part of their password policies to ensure that their users are not reusing passwords or passphrases that are compromised. This layered approach of password security is the best way to keep passwords safe, strong and unique.

stay safe.
