21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Haney-Garcia Decision Out: Betting Implications on: June 21, 2024, 06:11:25 AM
In as much as I do condemn any act of unprofessionalism by sports men in not following the rules of engagement as laid down guidelines in respective games, I do not agree to the call that overturned decisions by sports organizers after a decision has been taken and results given and settled in all gambling outlets/sites that as a result of an overturned it should also reflect in sportsbooks too.

Doing that can cause a lot of confusion between sportbookies and casino's, between casino's and their customers who will be on two aide of the divide, between those who the overturned decisions favoured and the unfavored. I should believe that issues like this is addressed on gambling sites ToS.

Any gambling site that makes an attempt to carry out an action as a result of the overturn will only be putting it's existence in business at risk. Let leave the sleeping dog sleep.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling therapy on: June 20, 2024, 02:54:37 PM
We go for monthly or quarterly health routine checkups not only because we're sick but to  reduce any risk of getting sick before knowing. Right? same behavior can be applied to gambling , do you agree or it's not necessary until you start getting a gambling problem .

That’s not how therapy works imo. Therapy is only for those people that can’t handle addiction since it’s not a maintenance medicine to stop your gambling urges.
That's the conventional idea as we have known before now but it doesn't have to continually ride that way. And going for a therapy does mean it has to be on a regular basis twice a year is fine for a gambler and you potentially may not be attending for your very sake but could be that the knowledge and awareness you get to know about how these therapy sessions work could be useful to you in helping some other gambler that may be struggling with any gambling problems around your environment but can't afford professional sessions.

Here's a post i made about a gambler who had to talk to me about how he felt bad due to how judgemental someone he shared his gambling problem with, (could be a fellow gambler like him, anyway). But assuming the unidentified person the guy with gambling problem had confide in was to have an idea about therapy in dealing with the complains he received then far be it that his reaction would have been a judgemental one. I don't know if you get my point now.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling therapy on: June 20, 2024, 12:32:33 PM
I heard about gambling therapy and it prick my mind to which I asked myself when last did I  go for gambling therapy? I could recall and that's because I have never had one since I believe am gambling responsibly.

What's gambling therapy?
Quote
Gambling Therapy is a free, global online service offering practical advice and emotional support to anyone affected by problem gambling link
Yeah, you read that correctly , it says people affected by gambling problem. But after reading I took an opposing view about it because gambling therapy shouldn't be something simply painted exclusively for people with gambling addiction problems alone. In as much as you're a gambler, whether  a gambler that has his gambling habit under control, going for a gambling therapy should be a habit we should acculturate ourselves with, at least twice a year (ones in every 6months).

We go for monthly or quarterly health routine checkups not only because we're sick but to  reduce any risk of getting sick before knowing. Right? same behavior can be applied to gambling , do you agree or it's not necessary until you start getting a gambling problem .

Should such posts be reported too, even when not listed yet?
If I comprehend clearly what Theymos posts says, then it is that any services that doesn't follow the laid down rules as given, which in others words, one that appears to be an illegal sale you are free to post a report about it let whosoever is behind the account give a detailed explanation to that effect.

The digital goods board is open to the sells of any services however, it must be within the frame of legitimacy or that which is allowed around the community.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Recording gambling activities on: June 20, 2024, 10:51:01 AM
Do you think keeping record of gambling activity will play a good role to someone's gambling lifestyle?
Recording keeping can be tasking at  some point to be that consistent at it for a full year especially.  I prefer not to keep records because it won't change anything in the lifestyle of a gambler that lacks internal discipline.

Where there are much losses made, keep records of it and seeing it everyday when he/she gets back to add another recorded loss to the piles of losses, my perception is that it can only gives him hope that he can recover those losses someday as he keeps intensifying his gambling bets.

I know a lot of persons will have a positive mindset about record keeping which I concur to the core to whatever positivity there is, but this just one of many negative aspect of my perspective to gambling record keep from a gambler with a non-disciplined lifestyle.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Live games discussion thread on: June 20, 2024, 08:37:54 AM
I guess people that like playing Poker, especially the one that they will have to compete with each other and not the casino, that will be their most favorite game. I have seen many gamblers that prefer Poker and told me the reason they prefer it.
Unlike when you are competing against the house they have every hedge you can think of over you as an individual no matter how skilled you may be, except for luck, but with Poker where different individual gambler just have to compete among themselves on a round table based on individual skills you losing only indicate that the next person was better skilled than you and not just out of luck.

And poker is a psychological based game that makes you try to think and calculate faster ahead of your opponent on his next move, so those gamblers that believes alot on their skills and strategy will always want to test it with their fellow gambler and poker is one those games right for such a show. And don't forget the game goes along with some interaction on random issues which seems to be much interesting for some persons that way too.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They will find someone to blame for their mistakes on: June 19, 2024, 11:08:03 PM
I think betting sites should not be allowed to include such bet. They should not just only be blaming the man. I see the betting site faults also. Why making people to bet on a result that someone set?
There are gamblers that do enjoy and have for n with those categories of bet and they would have a conflicting perspective about your thought on this, and for the betting sites their business is to get involved into any form of betting that will roll in money for them and addition to the fact  there are people that are ready to participate despite it's outcome not fairly free from  manipulation.

It's not as if the people that bets about the outcomes of any of these trending events are unaware of  it been set-up by an individual figure or a group of persons, which is why I don't see how's that a fault of betting sites that are out to doing business and make profits. The only time those bet sites that allows those options on their platform will be willing to stop is when people no more places interest on them.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake did it again! Another huge losing bet... on: June 19, 2024, 06:59:19 AM
Besides singing and acting Drake had made a name in the gambling sector. He can be added as one of the biggest gamblers in recent times. However, there has been suspicion that all these big bets are public stunts to promote a particular betting platform. It is well known that he gambles with a particular casino with which he has a connection.
-snip-
Regarding a promotion or not, it seems that losing gambling has been experienced quite often by Drake.
But this time the loss reached $1 Million in 2 individual bets worth $500,000 on the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Mavericks being his big losses.
I know how we all that haven't made such money will be feeling right now with enormous thoughts in our head of useful things we can do with $1M because, it appears as though Drake is wasting money not knowing what to do with it but going by his networth and the records of each bets he has made and loss, I think he has always staked with a percentage amount he can afford to lose in relation to his worth which means he is not an addicted gambler AFAIK. Which is why he doesn't get moved by any of those losses though it's painful how he has to lose this way in every of his bet that he is now associated with the nickname The Drake-Curse. I feel for the dude though.

30  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy BTC sold for 16 BTC-1 mil USD on: June 18, 2024, 07:04:31 PM
]
Some people buy things without the aim of making profit from them; they just want to help those things gain adoption and also have value or gain more value. For instance, the person who bought the "buy bitcoin sign" for 1 million dollars has helped bitcoin gain adoption. For instance, when you see the news that someone bought a "buy bitcoin sign" for 1 million dollars, you will want to know the reason why someone used such a large amount of money to buy the "buy bitcoin sign." In the process of your research, you find out the problems bitcoin will solve in the world, and you will not want to be left out. Before you know it, you will start making plans to accumulate bitcoin. Some people also buy things that will not give them profit or have no value just to appreciate the creators of those things.
When people buys things of this nature they do that for two main purpose which are fame and profit either for the now or in the future, its a phenomenon about humans not to do things without a captured intrinsic interest.   I mean bitcoin has for anything made a name for itself with such popularity that when people talk about cryptocurrency the first crypto they mention is bitcoin, with the exponential surge of investors in bitcoin market. Anyone buying anything affiliated to become now is not just dong that to popularize bitcoin for adoption but for his personal sake to either for fame or profit that's just that underlying point for an investor to have to spend 1milion dollars that way.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bagaimana jik anda pemilik kasino? on: June 18, 2024, 05:49:47 PM
If you were the owner of the casino, what would you think when people like that gamble at your place?

I dont quite get what you are asking here. Casinos are businesses, gamblers are their customers.  The casino wants them to lose money, gamblers want to win.  Its pretty straightforward.

That's why I opened this thread, a simple answer but it has a very deep meaning and has a certain purpose for this thread that I made, that as you said the casino wants you to spend money there, I some people who don't understand how he is in a gambling addiction need to see this thread and how he is actually being used that he is just exchanging their time and money for a game.
That i own a casino today or in the future i probably see the gamblers that walk in to my casino to gamble as my clients/customers, as people that are in the weak end where in fact i am the one sitting at the strong edge of the whole obscuration interest for profit. because that's how i firmly perceive is the perspective with which casino owners view we gamblers with. it is never in their best interest that the gambler survive a session, for its a battle for profit which both parties don't want to lose (if one continuous to make loss he falls off from business, and the other should he loses either continuous to chase his loss or quit go home as a loser to come back another day), which is why i find it hard to comprehend why some gamblers will expose themselves to gambling addiction for what exactly.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: Out of prides, investors endangers themselves. on: June 18, 2024, 04:45:17 PM
I think this my newly investor friend was out of pride and just wanted to make this other guy feel regret but does not know the dangerous implications he has just made upon himself and his Bitcoin assets.
It is unfortunate for investors who lives this life of proving themselves to people just to make them believe on their investment.
We don't know if he did what he did out of pride or by sheer attitude of trying to convince the doubting friend about bitcoin with a proven evidence directly from his wallet. One thing is here is certain, you didn't preach to him about privacy with bitcoin and how important not to comprise on it.

While we brush people up about how profitable bitcoin can be to them if they invest long we should with that approach enlighten them too on the tenets of how to safeguard their investment from public notice because privacy is peace.  The more people don't know about your finances the more peaceful and secure live becomes for you.

34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling a weird way of weath redistribution? on: June 18, 2024, 02:21:52 PM
Yesterday I was sorting my winnings tickets I put while watching the game, had quite a nice sum and while standing in line to cash them I thought about how money is moving around, got the idea it's pretty close to a wealth redistribution.

Might be a stupid theory but hear me out on this, we have the gamblers that bet on 1 million, half of them lose, half of them win, the casinos get their 5% share, from this share they pay wages and rent and other costs, cutting the part where the casino gets the money it's that basically gamblers pay the wages of the whole staff manning those, and they also shuffle money between them.
Assuming rich people have more to lose and their share of the losses is bigger, taking into account they support with this money a ton of jobs, 70 000 in Europe alone, is this a form of wealth redistribution?
Any multi business requires workers for them to put hands on deck to get things working and, the workers must be paid for their services as it's no charity organization. Then in the chain of wealth distribution assuming that's actually what the wins and losses in casinos entails, the casinos are the ones getting the largest share % in the distribution, while a small amount of money goes to the few gamblers that  manage to get a win.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 which led to the temporary stop of some of the popular sports leagues leading to a low patronage from gamblers due to the sit-at-home order by the government yet, the gambling industry in Nigeria still made a monthly billion $ benchmark with a daily $5+M profit, how much more now all activities have resumed worldwide.

36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling winnings should NOT be taxed on: June 18, 2024, 10:13:51 AM
Does your country tax gambling winnings and if so do you declare it yourself or does the gambling operator withhold the taxes on your behalf?
In my own country gambling win are been taxed but not all wins as there is a set-up amount you have to win for you to be taxed from. Small money wins has nothing to do with government taxes. Am sure on this because I have always withdraw every of my wins in complete figure owing to the amount.

Only huge wins and the gambling companies are taxed and it makes sense to me that way instead of classifying all gamble win. Am sure this is not same with other countries where they tax almost any amount  of gambling win without putting into consideration how much money the gambler must have lost previously before arriving to that meager win.

38  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 17, 2024, 06:41:46 PM
With the presence of KDB, Lukaku and Doku in the frontline I had thought they would give a reply to that early goal from Slovakia before the end HT. Although Belgium has absolutely had some good chances but they are all getting ruined and frustrated by the brilliance of the Slovakian defenders. Coming back to the second half the trio must intensify their campaign against the Slovakian defense to grease  in a goal into behind the net, in any worse result a 1:1 draw could be commended.
Overall up to 90 minutes does not include additional minutes (7 minutes) given, Belgium plays poorly. Although not dominant, Slovakia is far more disciplined than Belgium.
Analytically in all that transpired throughout the second half on the pitch, it would be very unfair to conclude that Belgium played poorly in this match despite their defeat. It was a whole moment of dazzling hard luck for the Belgians having their supposed two goals ruled-out for an offside and the other for a handball. On the other hand, It's however, very impressive with how Slovakia were able to repel the dangerous and rich quality squad of the Belgium team reducing their efforts to nothing. Their fans would be proud of them tonight for insuring 3points in their first game.

Belgium 0 : 1 Slovakia (HT)

The first half result between Belgium vs Slovakia was an unsurprising result. Without Courtois, he would not be able to withstand the opponent's attacks. The risk of not calling Courtois in the first place was already a big mistake for them. Initially looking at group E, it was assumed that Belgium would qualify easily, but in my opinion it was the opposite, Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia had surprises that Belgium would definitely not easily overcome.
Doku, De Bruyne and Lukaku on the front line are quite ideal because the combined attack pillars of these three players can be very effective, but it comes back to whether these three players can find a match with each other to break through the opponent's goal. In the second half Belgium should have been able to catch up, 1 goal could still be achieved and Slovakia appeared more aggressive to secure the score.
Slovakia isn't a weak side that we would have expected the Belgium side to dominate the game and not conceive an early goal if it were to be that courtois was in the goalie. The early leaf by Slovakia was an opportunity which presented itself and they had to take it. Casteels has made number of saves in the first half particularly that precised  volley kick in the 40th minutes.

40  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading psychology and TA on: June 17, 2024, 03:48:49 PM
I have observed great number of traders debate on the issue of having a solid psychology and right approach to trading better pay off than just relying on some Strong Technical Analysis but others don't believe in psychology they base there points on having a winning strategy and proper risk management
What's your take guy's...
Does Psychology exist or is just an illusion of you not  having the right approach and risk management, fundamentals...that affect your trades

In my not too little engagement in trading, I have realized that your psychology plays the biggest role of you being a successful trader or not. All the fundamental and technical analysis including risk management does not take more than 20% of you being successful in trading. Trading is actually vigorous and will take you a long time to be a profitable one. But the bigger picture lies on you being able to handle your psychology.

I have had experience about it before and those alike have also said the same about trading. You will most time do your fundamental and Technical analysis and also employ proper risk management but your inability to control your psychology (emotions) will make you not to trust that analysis and you end up leaving the trade too early at loss or not even enter the trade at all and regret why you never did when it goes your way. Psychology is important in trading and if you’ve find a way to handle it, you’re 80% success rate of being a profitable trader.

Do you imply that Psychology is the key in Trading and not necessarily TA; I disagree. TA is more than 20% when it comes to Trading.
Am not saying Psychology is not vital, but Psychology is a crap when you do not have a good Technical edge, the Technical edge is what builds you, gives one the confidence, and also boost your win rate because you already know what you should and should not in a Market, the reason many Traders fail is because they blame psychology whereas they are the problem from there strategy, approach risk management all sucks. .
To be  well organized as a sophisticated trader both technical analysis and psychology are in-part very important in leading to a successful win on any trade. You don't rely so much on one and overlook the other, in fact they both work in synergy to put the trader in the right direction with his strategy entering  the market.

A trader can have a great T.A about the market and gets in but ends up losing that trade due to a lack of a strong psychology on his part when the market throws a fake out at him.  You have to be prepared for the two because that's what it takes to win.
