21  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Zero-Value Transfer on: December 05, 2023, 10:22:13 PM
Could someone explain in tech example how it works? - Zero-Value Transfer
Consider a scenario where a transaction is made but the amount of Bitcoin sent is very small, it can still mean no actual value was transferred in the cause of the transaction. Remember in a valid Bitcoin transaction the amount sent is recorded in sats which is the smallest unit of Bitcoin.

If we seek to consider examples where this zero value transfer can occur we can look at

  • Lightening Network Transaction can be considered although it is a layer two scaling solutions for Bitcoin that helps with fast and cheap transaction that are created off-chain
  • we can also consider the dust transaction where the amount transacted are very small often below the network's minimum transaction output size

It is worth knowing that for zero value transactions the amount can be small or even with no value when talking about Bitcoin, And this still contributes to the data size of the Blockchain

Of course it's for money. Cheesy

Don't get me wrong, participating in signature campaign is completely fine and signature campaign is the biggest reason why this forum has a lot traffic
Signature has it's own charm. If it wasn't for signature many users wouldn't even stay. You would be surprised to know how many users are just living only using signature. In some countries, money that is earned through signature is enough to provide for an family. This encourages new users to engage more in this forum. So it's considerable.
Signature campaign started way back June 12th 2011 and before now mining, offering services, Bounties, project participation, Tipping, donations and signature free-promotions were ways users earned from the forum but the introduction of signature campaign crippled other services even though most of them are still active but yet it doesn't generate much traffic anymore.

Most of the other options if well utilised might even generate more fund for participants compared to signature campaign. And This ignorance makes new users with skills that can fetch them more on the forum focus on trying hard to rank up so the can participate without knowing their skills if advertised on the forum can earn them more and the will also receive the same BTC currency for their services
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $40k Price Target Achieved on: December 05, 2023, 06:39:13 PM
It's obvious the ATH is going to be massive but I am very careful not to have any expectations so I don't get unexpected results. But by the coming cycling I expect a big push in Bitcoin price at least above 200% from the current price
24  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The enemy of success on: December 02, 2023, 08:54:56 AM
Take for example in crypto procrastinating when to buy and sell too can be dangerous. Take buying an asset like Bitcoin for example if we keep procrastinating when the price falls to a very low amount then we buy that time might never come similarly for selling if one keeps procrastinating when to sell the market might just take them off balance and they might end up selling below a major profit or selling at a loss. Procrastinating is a danger to growth and productivity
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a quick rich and get poorer investment. on: December 02, 2023, 08:02:34 AM
.......
Even a year is not a guarantee. When we say Bitcoin is a long term investment asset it simply means it has no specific time for profit or loss margin. The idea is simply to hold until the profit rader begins to set. Sometimes this profit rader might sets within few months and atimes within a long time. It is simply an asset that tests the level of discipline, emotional control and determination of an investor
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner vs. fast starter on: December 02, 2023, 07:54:43 AM

4. Not knowing the mega treads that often share merit with ongoing discussions.
5. The flow of writing is different.
It is not easy jumping into a mega trend as a beginner or starter especially if the starter is just adapting to the crypto world. Those who forcefully engage in such threads most often spam or make off-topic replies. I rather think it is best to start where seems more comfortable become good at it with uniqueness and quality content the merits will still flow. Lastly I think engaging in mega threads requires adequate knowledge so for starters studying more before engaging can boast their profiles
27  Other / Meta / Re: Sanctioned Services and the service traceability to this forum, Any danger? on: December 01, 2023, 04:20:25 PM

Now, my concern is, wouldnt it make sense to remove the Sinbad escrow address from this forum? And also remove anything that could make it easy for authorities to trace transactions from that address to this forum, and it's users?

Is this forum not going to be in danger if authorities trace transactions with services they have sanctioned down to this forum?

Maybe this is nothing, either way, consider me being over curious and conscious  Grin.
But why Sinbad ban pose danger to the forum. The forum is only a vehicle for signature adverts and more and once the spot any suspicious or malicious activity associated with such campaigns the halt their activities or discourage participants and forum users from promoting and using the services.

Don't forget the forum is decentralised and open sourced and as such all activities done on the forum has to be public for reference, transparency, sanctioning and addressing.
28  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What influences your decisions on: December 01, 2023, 09:56:30 AM
Trading can be a means someone can make money, but it should not be considered a full time job
But there are people who take trading as their only source of income. The article isn't meant to mislead but to get opinion on how experienced traders make their market judgement and decisions and the things the look out for before making those decisions
29  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / What influences your decisions on: December 01, 2023, 09:35:32 AM
Crypto generally is a game of high risk to reward ratio. As a crypto trader and enthusiast what do u base your decisions on.
When you decide on  those investment plan and draft what are the things you consider most.

Trading and investment can be a full time job if well managed and properly planned. And this can also be a big life changer if well managed. So for education sake I will like to know how people make their own decision so we all can grow in this volatile market together
30  Economy / Economics / The power of investment choices on: December 01, 2023, 09:28:50 AM
It's not enough having an investment plan, knowing the right choice to make for every investment defines the investor better. Take for example jumping on every new coin we find on reputable exchange might not be enough guarantee that coin will do well in the future.

Some coin might have good Supply but low liquidity, some might have high market capitalisation but very poor volatility. Although it's hard to predict the accuracy of a coin performance in the near future this why it is always advised to stick to the known which is BTC.

Another option is to spread ones portfolio amongst different coins but ensuring the have a greater percentage in projects with a visible future. It is better to win small and lose less than lose more and win less
31  Economy / Economics / Re: Growth mindset versus fixed mindset on: December 01, 2023, 08:54:28 AM
I always feel growth mindset has so much to do with the ability of a determined person to yield them selves to consistent learning. Sometimes one can be determined and hard working but have the wrong approach or outdated approach to solving real world problems or businesses. This brought me to this assumption that learning new ways and approach makes a better growth mindset than most other factors
32  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: As bitcoin is rising what is your plans on: November 19, 2023, 06:26:58 PM
I will rather say do your own research and make your investment decisions based on your own findings. Bitcoin might have a perfect bullish ending but saying for sure this is a certainty is impossible. As such I prefer every investor doing their own analysis and making decisions based on what they observed. Every point can be a good time to buy especially in a bulk run the problem is if the buyer is patient enough to wait for the market to move in their predicted direction.
33  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is Nigeria a failed project ? on: November 19, 2023, 06:09:39 PM
They argued that it's possible that the solutions to Nigeria's problems are on the long run and are not solutions that'll bring up results today, but the thing is how long is this long term project going to last ?
I won't argue as well that the solution to Nigeria problem is on a long term execution but in order to achieve this long term objective it will require series of short term goals to make the long term objective a reality.

As it stands the problems of Nigeria keeps compounding and the more complex it becomes the more our leaders get confused on which sector to prioritise. For a better solution I think having a clear and consistent short term goals that are carried out will overtime make even the long term objective more actualizable
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is Bitcoin for everyone? on: October 21, 2023, 05:50:24 PM
I am asking this because not everyone has made tangible profit for holding. Just like myself I end up selling at a loss most times just to solve a problem. Some might be lucky to buy at a low rate and within few weeks or months the price just pumps to their favour. This kept me wondering if Bitcoin is actually for every one or it is a scheme for selected individuals..
35  Economy / Economics / Is there a formula for Bitcoin starters? on: October 21, 2023, 05:41:12 PM
Starting Bitcoin investment with little capital will be very challenging mostly if that happens to be the major survival option of the investor. And in cases where the investor plans on using the proceed to solve their needs they might end up selling when the price have dropped just to settle the pressing need of that time.

As experienced investors are there measures that can be imbibed by new investors with little capital to help boast their capital. Some will want to mention patience which I will agree to but in situations where the money is needed to meet an emergency need how to you tackle such situations. Your formula might be a saving approach.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / If you were to unlearn something about BTC…. on: October 21, 2023, 05:29:42 PM
Have you ever felt having a good knowledge about a certain subject matter on Bitcoin only to start a conversion or thread on the topic and end up discovering the information had lots of mistakes and misconception. How did you really feel about those subject matters and what was your approach towards the observation and correction made by other users on your thread.

While the concept of Bitcoin in general is broad and wide having a good knowledge of certain topic will require constant research and studying some of the concepts will even require experience and user interactivity. Example is the technical aspect of Bitcoin. I will like to discuss this how long do you spend doing research for a particular topic before making your post or do you have a glimpse of the subject matter get a good summary of it and then start a conversation or quality research is done followed by reviews before engaging in  a conversation?
37  Other / Off-topic / The emotion we feel differently on: September 26, 2023, 06:19:09 AM
Losses happen to be part human existence. At some point we all must have lost something or someone we so much cherish and value. I won't want to go towards the direction of our loved ones so I don't open up dead wounds but I will like to talk about what we value so much in the past that was either taken from us by force, lost out of carelessness, stolen by friends.

I was talking to a friend who shared her story of how she was robbed by some men who disguised as clergymen. She was resistant at first but later lost her consciousness and didn't know when she went to withdraw all the money in her account and handed over to them. It was when the left her shop she came back to her senses. Another shared a story of how he lost his phone. To him it was gotten through random contributions from friends and close relatives and there was no hope of getting another…

I my quest to compare the pains of both persons I came to this conclusion both of them lost valuables in their own capacity and the pain both of them faced wasn't different from each other and it sprung a strong debate that I think I should get some reaction her to base my own assumption.
38  Economy / Speculation / After the bull-run plan. on: September 25, 2023, 04:45:30 PM
We are all aware of Bitcoin halving that is predicted to happen by next year 2024. The first halving in November 2012 moved the price of bitcoin from $12 to $200 in one year. The second halving which took place in July 9, 2016, pushed the price of Bitcoin to $19,700 in one year. In the last halving in May 2020, Bitcoin’s price surged from $8,787 to nearly $69,000 in November 2021. It is usual for the price of Bitcoin to fall immediately after each bull run but the price of Bitcoin has kept appreciating above past bull runs.

During this events block rewards for miners get reduced by half as part of Bitcoin protocol design which happens every four years to manage the rate at which new Bitcoin are generated. As regards to this many predict a possible pump might accompany the next halving which is not a guarantee because the relationship between halving and price pump is really complicated.

The general assumption for so many bitcoiners is that the bull run is a time to sell and make a profit. There is nothing wrong with selling and making a profit but it is also important to have an after-the-bull run plan. The bull run shouldn't be the end of your Bitcoin investment, so there is no need to sell all your holdings. The future of Bitcoin is far beyond next year's bull run,  so it is time to plan ahead of the season. I have observed that most people who make money from Bitcoin don't just have a four-year investment plan. Some of them have kept their coins for a decade which means they have a long-term plan. If you don't have an after-the-bull-run plan, you might not have the opportunity to accumulate Bitcoin that you have sold.

If we pay close attention at the market moves we will notice a few principal factor have also contributed to how price have moved during this season:

Market Sentiment: If we watch how investors perceive the market during this season and how the go about with their sentimental investment approach we see how much it significantly affect market price. While we anticipate for the next halving let's not forget The crypto market can be full of hypes and optimism, which may lead to one of two things negligence or increased buying activity and price appreciation.

Historical Precedent: From past occurrences,  Bitcoin has experienced significant price rallies following previous halvings, which in itself is very logical. When the supply gets reduced more attention will be drawn to the asset which could load to higher prices but using past performance to predict future result might not be positive all the time.

Market Speculation: During this seasons we see traders and investors try to take advantage of the price movement around Bitcoin halving. Since this often leads to high speculative activities their is always chances of price volatility occurrence.

External Factors: We shouldn't also forget other external factors like regulatory development which has always been one of the key battle line for Bitcoin as well as global events, adoption trends and macroeconomic conditions.

Conclusion :
It is principal to note that in as much as Bitcoin halving has the potential of creating a very conducive market structure for price increase, It is never a guarantee. We all know the market is volatile and subject to speculative and rapid fluctuations. So a long-term plan in view could be one way to approach the market so that it don't take us unawares.

Lastly in all investments and trading decisions ensure to conduct thorough research and pay more attention to the volatility of the market that could also serve as guide in what direction to take during the halving.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge vs hodlings on: September 18, 2023, 09:11:03 PM
.....
You need both, if you have a profound knowledge about bitcoin but you do not have the money to buy any of it and hold it then you cannot really obtain many benefits out of your knowledge, and if you have the money and you buy bitcoin with it but you do not know much about bitcoin then it is going to be very difficult for you to hold your coins when the whales manipulate the market and make it crash out of nowhere, so it is not like we can pick one over the other, since both are needed for a person to have reasonable chances of holding their coins until they reach their financial goals.
Of a truth both are essential. As far as investment is concerned it is very difficult understanding the basics without risking some money. I mean it is not a theoretical framework. It is just like someone learning how to drive a car but has never held a steering to put what has been taught to practice. For a beginner with no knowledge about crypto I will rather say getting a good mentor who will help mange the losses and risk that will be incurred in the cause of learning but no matter how we try to run away from losses it must always surface, the only difference between one who is subjected to learning and one who tries to move alone is that the level of losses will be far apart from both parties.
40  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does power really corrupt? on: September 17, 2023, 04:28:21 PM
Once there is this ability to control other peoples will there will be this unconscious act of corruption, Sometimes this corruption is not intentional but the fear of having your subject challenge your decisions create room for corruption and once the idea get nurtured it becomes a norm. It is very difficult tasting power without having this corrupt feelings, It only takes discipline to stay incorruptible and most time it can make such leaders isolated from the others.
