21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The benefits of Gambling on: July 04, 2024, 04:04:17 PM
Most of the topics we read are mostly mentioning about the negative side of gambling but I think we also discuss the positives of it...

1. Socialization
2. Income Generation
3. Employment
4. Support to the Gambling Industry

We've seen a lot of things enough to consider why gambling must exist. Maybe we just correct our views that gambling is bad because this also helps other people. We don't just focus on the bad things like addiction and debts that a person may commit by being an irresponsible gambler but also, must see the benefits it gives to the community and in our personal lives.
In addition to all that you listed above, one important benefit of gambling is that it makes one psychologically matured to handle money and also for risk. If you are a gambler, it will be difficult for anything to break you down because you would have seen it all while gambling. Depression, frustration and all manner of things would have been a common experience for a gambler. Even in business, you will not be afraid of taking risk because you are already accustomed to taking such risk on regular basis as a gambler.
22  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not only about winning and losing, but about psychological control on: July 04, 2024, 03:40:50 PM
Just like forex trading, gambling is more of psychology than skill, so  agree with you on this post because without proper psychological balance a gambler is doomed to fail. It is this psychological balance that will help a gambler manage both winnings and losses in such a way that the entire gambling process yield the best result. I have seen many times when a good winning day turn into a very bad losing day just because the gambler is unable to manage the winning, by withdrawing the money or taking a break from gambling or better still reducing the amount used in betting. Instead, you will see things like increasing betting amount and becoming complacent until the winning are all lost. Indeed, psychology play the most important part in gambling.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Copa America 2024 Prediction Thread on: July 04, 2024, 02:25:30 PM
It's going to be an easy match for Argentina, I would be extremely surprised if Ecuador wins this game, I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's extremely unlikely.

in duel bits it is 8.50 for Ecuador to win and 4.10 for a draw, does anyone have the courage to bet? Argentina is favorite and will definitely win.
I do not agree with you and I can tell you why. The last three times Argentina met Ecuador, they have not scored more than 1 goal in each of those encounters which two were world cup qualifiers and one was a friendly match. In the world cup qualifiers, which were crucial matches, Argentina won one match and drew one. Going by this analysis, it is expected that Argentina will score just 1 goal and that puts the match in a dicey position that an equalizer from Ecuador will result to a draw and possible extra time from which point anything can happen. The only exception to this is if Argentina can score more than one goal, in that case they have a clear chance of winning the match at full time.
24  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin Na For All: But can the 63% Wallowing in Poverty invest in bitcoin? on: July 03, 2024, 11:59:18 PM
The last time wey I check, na money they dey take buy Bitcoin which mean say the 63% of Nigerian population wey dey wallow for poverty get big problem wey be say Bitcoin no even follow for the thing wey them dey think about. You don see person wey no chop wey come dey shit better shit? Wetin them need now na food and how to survive first and the money wey them get no dey enough so which one them go take buy Bitcoin?

If them even many buy Bitcoin, them no fit hold am because them no get enough money so them go sell am to take chop first. As you know, Bitcoin no be wetin you go buy today come dey expect the plenty profit the next day. E dey require time to give better profit. So the best way na for person wey don see food first, come get small reserve before him go think about buying Bitcoin. That reserve go help am when issue come him no go sell the Bitcoin. So the koko be say, poor man no fit buy and hold Bitcoin.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: July 03, 2024, 05:41:32 PM
A rich gambler can take more advantage than a poor in terms of winnings and losses. Because when the poor gambler places a bet they will try to do so according to their ability.
Everything is all about proportionality because each of the classes of gamblers are gambling in proportion of their income. A rich gambler can decide to use 0.5% of his income to gamble and this might even be the total income the poor gambler is planning to win from gambling. To the poor gambler, the rich person is taking too much risk but that is not true in reality.

Losses are also in proportion of their investment amount because the rich lose bigger amount than the poor but that does not mean that he is taking too much risk; the poor gambler may even taking higher risk because some gamble with as much as 10% of their income.

What I notice is that the ease of winning is higher for the rich because of their psychology which is the key element in gambling. The rich are not desperate and they don't chase loses so their lose emotions are under control.
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Road to 100k? on: July 03, 2024, 04:53:10 PM
Not this year its taken too long imo but right this moment we struggle to beat the old ATH and thats more important for 2024 then the highest aspirations.   BTC building above 72k would make me confident that 100k will be beaten, its a round number not in any a limit.   Even with inflation at 2% and its been much higher, the idea of 100k becomes 2% closer in value terms for every year so its becoming more possible over time.
I do not completely agree with you even though you have good reasonns to support your position. From the behaviour we know about Bitcoin, this period is usually not the best for Bitcoin as price tends to correct and consolidate for longer period. This period last year was when the term "don't wake me up" was coined because Bitcoin entered into a very long consolidation. But it will interest you to know that within last year and before the end of the year, Bitcoin rose by over 100%. There was a dip below $18k before a recovery that saw price re-entering the range of the consolidation around $26k. Before the end of last year price was around the vicinity of $40k.

From the foregoing,  it is highly possible for Bitcoin to achieve $100k this year, it just need to do 100% and we are there and you know this is possible for Bitcoin to crush even within one month.

I think smart people are taking advantage of the current dips knowing that from September it is expected that there will be massive gains in Bitcoin in line with the historic data that shows that Bitcoin always do very well in the last quarter of the year.

27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage👉1/8 on: July 02, 2024, 04:33:30 PM
Romania vs Netherland

ROMANIA: Nita; Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Mogos; M. Marin; Man, R. Marin, Stanciu, Hagi; Dragus.

Netherland: Verbruggen; Dumfries, De Vrij, Van Dijk, Aké; Schouten, Reijnders; Bergwijn, Simons, Gakpo; Depay.

Here is the last stage for round of 16, today where have another group E which is ROMANIA, dangerous group of the tournament, yesterday Belgium who were second was eliminated by France, only one is left to play let see if they will escape the round of 16, Netherland finished as 3rd best place teams in first place that even show how good they are and if they win this match they become the only 3rd best place teams to survive the round of 16 which will be an incredible moment for them.
Anyone who is writing Romania off should be ready for a big surprise. I'm not saying that they will win Netherlands but are definitely not a push over. At the moment Netherland is leading by 1:0 but the match is to early to declared is over considering how well Romania have done recent,  coming out top in a group with Belgium. I will only give up on the match in favour of Netherland if they score one more goal to make it 2:0, this will make it very difficult for Romania to equalize.
28  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can Bitcoin help to reduce crime? on: July 01, 2024, 08:41:01 PM
I know say the OP dey reason in the aspect of earning money from Bitcoin but I wan digress small to the practical use of Bitcoin. I don take small time take review how bitcoin fit dey useful to take fight crime especially for our Naija but the truth be say, e no get much wey Bitcoin fit do unto the matter. Fear dey catch me self if I imagine wey our politicians fit do if them get full update on how to take use Bitcoin, that one be say we no go even hear anything about recovered loot because them go use Bitcoin take syphon the money still run the Bitcoin through mixers make nobody for know where the coins from and who get am.

Even as e be say Bitcoin no fit help reduce crime, blockchain wey be the technology wey them take build Bitcoin fit really help stop crime or reduce up for public service. If government fit run their matter in some ministry through blockchain, I believe say e go help well. Like for public procurement, contracts awarded, employment record and many other data fit dey loaded into blockchain and made available for public to see as e dey be. This way we no go hear ghost workers, audio project and inflated budget because everything dey public. This na ways wey me think say blockchain fit help reduce crime for we governance.

Uruguay VS USA

From Group C, Uruguay secured the quarter-finals by winning two consecutive matches with 6 points. Tomorrow is the match between Uruguay vs USA. Tomorrow's match is very important for USA as they need to win to qualify for the next round. The last two matches between Uruguay and USA have been drawn. Currently Uruguay is in great form, I think Uruguay will win tomorrow.

It will be very difficult for the USA to win the match against Uruguay, the Uruguay team is much more experienced and lethal... it is historically a power in the Americas along with Brazil and Argentina. Even playing at home, it will practically be goodbye for the North American team in this championship.
If US fails to win tonight, they will likely be out of the competition because Panama will win Bolivia going by the records on ground. By simple analogy, US won Bolivia 2:0 while Panama won US by 1:2 so other things being equal, Panama will easily win Bolivia to make their total points 6. At present, they are in the same point with the US with the later leading by goal difference. So the chances of Panama winning is higher than that of US who will need to win the strongest team in the group Uruguay. Uruguay won both Bolivia and Panama so by right they are suppose to win US too to come out unbeaten in the group.
30  Other / Meta / Re: retiring an account in the age of AI on: July 01, 2024, 01:40:57 PM
Why not just create a thread in reputation and announce if you will leave the forum? in case you want to comeback, you need to sign a message from your old address. I think these two things are enough to prove someone ownership.
In addition to making a thread in the forum, the suggestion of tagging the account is also great so that the combination of both will render the account useless. I think few persons who left the forum, such as Leo and Lauda, left thread that served the right purpose and till date we have not seen anyone claiming to be them directly or via AI. That to me is a perfect way to go about it unless maybe it happens abruptly, in which case it becomes very difficult to know if such person actually left.

But, I hope that you're only asking for curiosity, not have a plan to leave...

The forum needs you, because you're one of few merit sources to fairly distribute your sMerit without looking who post it.
The tone of the post is that of inquiry and not that of decision. I wouldn't want him to leave yet because he has and continues to play important role in the forum. Like you said, he is definitely among the most generous merit sources who visit several boards distributing merits without looking at the ranks of the posters.
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: July 01, 2024, 03:25:10 AM
Those who believe that the current state of bitcoin is the only reason it is failing are presumably impatient investors or those who bought because they were afraid of missing the approaching bull run and tried to take advantage by investing immediately after the halving. They are upset that things didn't turn out as planned and that they were blind to the decline. Competent investors will not panic and begin to believe that bitcoin is failing, but rather will see this as a chance to keep buying the dip.
There is a saying that "when the purpose of a thing is not known, then abuse becomes inevitable". This statement is so true for Bitcoin investment because many people do not know the real purpose of investing in Bitcoin neither do they have plans for same investment.  Some just bought because of the trend while others bought because they want to be rich within a short time. Those who have plans such as I have mentioned, actually planned theoretically without facing the fact that Bitcoin requires time and patience.

If we must tell ourselves the truth, Bitcoin have done so well already and from this time last year till now it has done over 100%. I do not see why people will panic when the price of Bitcoin is pretty high and even looking so promising to do more. I understand that some people jumped in following the hype of the halving. Well those of them who have not sold at loss are more than welcome to change their mind into long term holding because those who follow Bitcoin with patience will always reap the fulll reward.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: Road to 100k? on: July 01, 2024, 02:49:26 AM
People who have experience in bitcoin prices especially when buying at prices below $20k will not panic to see a price drop this close, let alone those who experienced a decline of up to $15k two years ago surely it is much more difficult than the decline that is happening now, this is still fairly reasonable for this month because we have experienced enough of an increase from the beginning of 2025 to form a new ATH, correction is a normal market system so that supply and demand work where indeed in the chart also it is a healthy thing that we can make as a count to make future predictions.

Whether you want to sell and buy back when there is a decline or continue to accumulate is a good option, the most important thing is that we should not be excessive in investing in bitcoin so that our finances can be managed very well, and there are no worries whatsoever.
Selling to buy back when there is a decline is more or less trading which many do and miss out on the bigger picture. Anyone who engages in this practice might not even have enough Bitcoin when price finally reaches the $100k that we anticipate. Let's use the market history of this year as reference, price made a new ATH after the the ETF approval and many would have sold except people expecting to see more highs that will be created by the halving. As we have seen, that did not happen so they would have sold and waiting to buy back.

Well they would have been lucky because it was not long when we experienced a dip below $60k down to $56k which presented them a good entry point before price pushed again to $65k. Now we have a range which is between the ATH and the new low of $56k and those who bought the low would be expecting continuous rise in price bit price reached $65k and started declining and this might trigger them to sell. Now that price have refused to go back below $60k and towards the low of $56k, they will be without Bitcoin at the moment because they are waiting to buy low.

The best would have been to continue to hold rather than gambling with their coins. Instead of exploring the option of selling to buy when price dips, I suggest holding and adding more when price dips; this will give an overall better result.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: In July do we go bull and pass 75k? on: June 30, 2024, 08:14:32 PM
I am still bullish I will dca this month. I also believe we pass 75k in July.

I jumped the gun and started a July poll.

But being into dca and bullish I do not want to back off and accept defeat for btc.
I'm still bullish as well and very happy for the present market condition because it gives me more opportunity to collect more Bitcoin before we see some upside moves. However, I'm very pessimistic about $75k this July because if Mt.Gox refund happens this July as planned, the retracement will be prolonged and we have to wait the effect out even deep into early September where I expect some good bullish momentum inline with Bitcoin price history. So for now, I do not see any bullish news that will propel price surge to $75k.

35  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Was it a Gut's feeling a Mathematical calculation or a Coincident? on: June 30, 2024, 05:48:38 PM
Does a human have the instinct to feel or know the outcome of gambling?  In this article it was said that the winner have the positive guts after buying the ticket and eventually won $2m or is it just a coincident?
It may not be a reliable thing to do but I have seen a couple of people that do know when they are playing a game that will win. Some see the signs in dreams while some have a way their body reveal to them the fate of their games. I think this is a special gift that many people are able to master. Whatever be the case, I don't think it is a reliable way to go about gambling because it can fail. If this is consistent, many people will hit the casinos so hard that they will go bankrupt. The case in question might just be one of those personal signals that came out successful.
36  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage👉1/8 on: June 30, 2024, 04:44:31 PM
I'm trying to find the best value bet for the game between England and Slovakia, unfortunately I couldn't come to a conclusion due to several shenanigans from England lately, either way I've tried my luck with England to win at halftime @ 2+ Odds. I don't see any much value from other possible options.

I hope we can get an interesting match today, because England have been the most boring team in this competition, from my perspective.
The best would have been over 1.5goals and by now you would have been hoping for only one goal. Maybe the odd for that option may be too low for you but that is a safe bet. Most pundits feel England will enjoy an easy win today but unfortunately, they are one goal down even from first half. Now they have to fight to equalize the goal before thinking about winning the match if they can. I did not actually expected this situation where England will be pushed to tight corner. I was expecting a goalless first half and a full time draw that will spill over to extra time. A draw is still very possible though.

38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: June 29, 2024, 02:38:12 PM
Because investors who don't like to sell or who want to continue accumulating bitcoins are people who haven't set a plan to sell they will be more likely to continue buying as they like.
Every investment should have an end, just as every chapter ends. If the investment doesn't end. There is no point in investing, I would consider it worthless. You have been investing all your life, but have not been able to enjoy the money invested. I consider such an investment futile. But I am not saying that you should end the investment too soon. You invest a certain amount and after getting your desired profit exit the investment and enjoy that money and start investing again. You can continue like this as long as you are able to generate income. Build a sizable investment fund years before you retire from your career so you can enjoy it in retirement. If you only invest all your life, that money may one day be left uninherited. Because human death comes unexpectedly.
Many Bitcoin investor I know want their Bitcoin investment to continue even after them. I'm one of such people because I have decided that Bitcoin is part of the legacy I will pass on to my children. If you plan to end your investment one day, it means you do not believe in continuity and that is a very bad situation to be in. Even in other business endeavors, it is always the joy of parents that their children should be able to continue their legacy that is why you see some families known for certain line of business for several generations. Such is possible with Bitcoin and many options have already been suggested on the best way to pass on Bitcoin to heirs.

I real long term HODLer of Bitcoin must start making plans of the inheritance of their Bitcoin portfolio even though they are not expecting to die any time soon. Such plans will have a way of preventing any eventuality. I know that some of the lost Bitcoins might be traceable to death of their owners without plan in place to pass it on to others of trust and importance.

39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 29, 2024, 01:23:30 PM
Today

Switzerland
Italy

Germany
Denmark

On the paper these are 2 easy game, expecially the second one.
Italy already found a defeat in recent year in elimination stage by Switzerland, can be this the second time?
For the sake of my money, I have learnt never to underrate any team in the particular tournament, the case of Georgia against Portugal being an eye opening even though there are many other instances of weird results. It will surprise you to realize that at the end of the day Germany will win through intense stress unlike what many people are expecting.

Switzerland against Italy might likely end in a draw full time but what will happen at extra time is what I'm not sure of but it will be a very interesting match. Italy might seem to be the favorite but their last match was not that motivating because they had to fight to even get a draw with Croatia.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you recognize a match fixing? on: June 29, 2024, 12:52:45 PM
I don't think match fixing is something that is open that people can see, else we would have been seeing more people and clubs being punished for such act. It is a highly classified activity that may not necessarily involve everyone in the pitch but some selected key people and sometimes the officials. Lately, we have seen a reduction in such allegations, probably due to the intervention of technology. However, I think it is still prevalent in lower divisions where there is less attention unlike the major league. One way I suspect match fixing is when I see the odds of a match continuously changing few hours to the match. This gives me a feeling that the bookies have idea of what the outcome of the match will be. Apart from this way, I really find it difficult know fixed matches before and during the match.
