21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Harris campaign now accepts Bitcoin on: September 06, 2024, 09:10:37 AM
I don't think it's bad news. Even if it's not her directly accepting the donations, the fact that it's the PAC supporting the Democratic party is a step, plus the fact that the crypto industry is donating to pro-crypto congressional candidates of both parties, as the article says. The best thing that could happen is that both parties end up being pro-bitcoin.
Even if Harris, is not accepting Bitcoin directly yet, if she's accepting it as campaign donations through third parties then it doesn't make any difference. In as much as she's aware that donations from PAC are paid with Bitcoin and she doesn't complain or reject it that means that she endorses it. I'm glad that the two candidates Trump and Harris, are not against Bitcoin donations in their campaigns for the US presidency. Even if either of them that will wins doesn't totally become crypto friendly that'll make the person a hypocrite for leveraging on Bitcoin to win then not supporting it.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I Prefer Bitcoin? on: September 05, 2024, 12:44:48 PM
I prefer to keep money in the bank as an alternative.  Because if I put money in the bank, that money is never considered as my own money because if the bank goes bankrupt for political reasons then my money will go bankrupt too. Also I have full control over my bitcoin wallet but if I keep money in the bank I don't have full control over that money.  That's why I put more emphasis on bitcoins instead of cash in the bank.
Money in the bank is in the custody of a centralized authority while Bitcoin in the blochchain is decentralized, this is the major difference between Bitcoin and fiat. The advantage of Bitcoin over fiat is that it gives it's holder freedom and privacy meaning that you're your own bank. As long as your wallet private keys and seed phrase is in your custody you have a total freedom over your BTC and your can do p2p transactions with a second party without any interferences from any third parties. Furthermore Bitcoin is a hedge against inflation meaning that it has a finite supply and it's value will always increase in the future, unlike fiat that can be affected by inflation due to the decisions of centralized authorities like the governments.
23  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luck: a dominant factor in gambling then skill. on: September 05, 2024, 11:14:21 AM
So I came across this post by iv4n who shared how he won his bet he didn't intentionally placed but out of mistake.  I wasn't surprised although because it's all luck and luck can happen to us in unexpected ways.

From what I've seen from my experience in gambling so far, the risk involved in gambling requires your knowledge to understand but then, luck Plays the major role in winning. Though we have seen on several occasions here on the forum where people would deny the fact that luck plays the major role in our wins. Having experience in gambling like I have said several times, gives you a upper hand compared to others. You have more courage and willingness to place better odds, which my in return increases your chances of winning. Luck still contributes it crucial role in gambling and thus shouldn't be underestimated.
If winning in gambling is primarily based on experience and skills then gamblers will diligently learn it and be perfect so that they will continue to win. There'll be no more house edge and if the casinos and bet companies continues to pay jackpot wins they'll all go bankrupt because their businesses will no longer be lucrative. Experience and skills in sports bet can help gamblers in their strategy to make gambling decisions but it can not guarantee wins, they need luck for what they've strategized to play in their favor. This is why it's not good to depend on gambling as a major source of income because you're not sure of earning it.
24  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What could possibly happen to ppl who's anticipating on BTC hitting $100k soon on: September 05, 2024, 08:54:14 AM
E de very important say make person wey want to enter Bitcoin investment to ask questions and make research about am before im go begin to hodl am. Without proper knowledge about am newbies go de panic during dip and dem go fit to de get over high expectations for price to skyrocket make dem make plenty profits. Before di halving wen we see new ATH I even think say within some few months price go reach $100k but when I begin to de see say instead price de dip, I come remind myself say Bitcoin investment requires patience.

Di strategy as we still de experience dis dip na to use di opportunity to de buy if we get di money, hodl and wait until anytime wey price go reach $100k. Di assurance wey I get be say Bitcoin na store of value and di price go always increase and reach ATH for every bull run. Bitcoin na long term project and as you buy am make you comot mind say na dis or dat perticular time you go begin to collect your ROI. Wetin matter be say on the long term price go de surely increase and ATH go de happen.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Draftking fined $19k for a player's $0 win after 20,000 spins on a slot game on: September 05, 2024, 06:36:29 AM
http://

Meanwhile my personal question is, are slot games really provably fair? If odds can be set to zero, and no one be able to win, is it not possible that some casinos might be using this means or method to cheat slot players off their hard earned money?

It might be a bug or maybe not, no one can tell. But then if the casino can compesate the players for their losses then no one would be complaining. The truth is that these games are meant to be on the house edge. Though we assume that the algorithm would try to favor both the players and the casino. But what happens when the casino decides to tweek the algorithm? No one would tell . If the following individuals didn't make complains they may the casino would have been quite and made good profits from other peoples loss. They are supposed to run test and check their codes for bugs continuously. Let's just try to believe what they ahd said.
This is a proof that continuous loses might not be attributed to bad luck alone, sometimes it could be something much more than that. Machine malfunctions, bug error as is alleged in this Drafting, case and it can be a way for casinos that doesn't have reputations to scam their customers. The bug error was detected because gamblers were having 0 wins, if there were very small wins the error probably won't have been detected, they'll think it's their bad luck. I know that there's the house edge factor but it'll be fraudulent if a casino will intentionally scam their customers.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins: Not all that glitters is gold on: September 04, 2024, 03:05:01 PM

Few days ago, a memecoin investor invested a whooping $1,000,000 dollars in MBAPPE coin and within an hour, his investment was brought down to $9,200 dollars when the scammer removed liquidity causing the price to plummet. Now, this is just one of many sad stories of investing in memecoins.
Many newbies into cryptocurrency gets carried away when they see any cryptocurrency that has affiliates with their favorite celebrities. They will lose all sense of reasonings and invest their hard earned money into the project, in the end it'll turn to shitcoin and their money will be burnt. A top celebrity in my country launched his token and many people bought into it because of his image as a superstar, it didn't take long before the token became dead and so did investors funds.

Memecoins generally are risky and the earlier that investors starts to understand that they're gambling their funds to buy them the better for them. It's true that all that glitters is not gold and anything that promises very huge profits on a very short term is most likely a scam. So DYOR and take your chances or invest in a long term crypto like Bitcoin.
27  Other / Off-topic / Is it morally right for beggars to gamble? on: September 04, 2024, 12:43:12 PM
I ask this question because in my city I've seen some beggars that gambles and I've often wondered why they do so. I know that people give beggars and destitutes money to eat and take care of their other basic needs like soap to bath and medicine Incase they don't feel well. And seeing them in lotto kiosks that are very rampant in the cities to bet makes me to wonder if it's not misplaced priorities for them.

I understand that most poor people are looking for shortcuts to riches and they see gambling as a get rich quick scheme. But most of them are ignorant of the house edge over gamblers and it means that winning is not easy.

I believe that beggars don't gamble for fun. So do you think that it's because they feel that they don't have anything to loose and somebody will still give them money if they lose? How will you feel if you see a beggar that you just gave your hard earned money using it to gamble?
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Unexpected wins vs expected wins, which excites the most? on: September 04, 2024, 10:22:36 AM
Every win is exciting when you're gambling because loses occurs more due to the house edge over the gamblers so when you win you'll feel triumphant. If you're however compering expected wins and unexpected wins, I strongly believe that unexpected wins gives far more excitement. In expected wins you must've put a lot of energy into analyzing the games and when it happens you'll feel more of fulfilment than super excited. But when you talk about unexpected wins it's when you randomly pick matches and you didn't do any analyzing or you're just having fun without having much hope that you'll win. It also feels very good when you make a mistake while staking your games and you win, the excitement is always double.
29  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hope for the best, but expect the worse! on: September 04, 2024, 09:32:35 AM
>>this is a kind of proverbial statement , which highlights different aspects of life too other than trading.
But in trading and as a trader it's helps you be a bit rational and less irrational in decision making, rather than being emotional when you have losses in trading, you should actually see it as something that's always meant to happen. Its like a learning process that never ends.
Anytime you trade always be self prepared for losses, but at the same time keep your hopes high for  positive results.

Crypto trading and every other risky businesses where you're not sure of making profits or succeeding is better to go into it with the right mindset. Hoping for the best and being prepared for the worst is a good mindset when you're entering a trade because despite you're professionalism and experience you can still lose. So inorder not to get too emotionally if you lose it's good to have a mindset that prepares you to accept wins and loses. Newbies that are coming into trading must understand that it's not a get rich quick scheme were profit is a guarantee, you need to be hopeful to win and prepare your mind for loses.
30  Other / Politics & Society / Re: They cannot make her President on: September 03, 2024, 04:41:52 PM
A female Presidential candidate is a mistake. There is no place for Queen in the prophesy. Only Kings

*Prophesy concerning Babylon
Who are the "they" that can not make a female president in America? Is it the electorates who are entitled to one vote each or the king makers? And what is this prophecy concerning Babylon? I'd really love to get answers to these questions as a none American, so that I can get a better understanding on whether gender is a criteria for being American president.

I'm wondering if the OP is speaking the mind of the average Americans or he's voicing out his own personal opinion that women can not be allowed to be president in America. We in developing countries feels that there's gender equality in America, it'd be a shame if I'm proven to be wrong.
31  Other / Archival / Re: I finally accumulated 0.1 bitcoin!! on: September 03, 2024, 01:27:38 PM
I am 20 years old man living in South Korea. I finally accumulated 0.1186448 BTC. Do you think I can make $30000 in this bitcoin cycle?
Bitcoin is a store of value and it's price will keep increasing into the future so the possibility of your getting high returns on investment is very possible. I don't know what you can make in this circle but what I know for sure is that we're going to see a new ATH before the start of bear run. So what I can advise you is to continue to accumulate as much Bitcoin as you can before the peak of bull run which has not happened yet. You're young so you can adopt the DCA method and look beyond this circle to increase your ROI in future circles.

You should be careful about how you disclose the amount of Bitcoin that you hold, you could be a target of scammers and robbers.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Those who judge gamblers, only to find themselves gambling. on: September 03, 2024, 10:15:04 AM

1. In the beginning they may have been doing well financially and see no reason to gamble, maybe life later on throws them a financial curveball, or perhaps responsibility compels them to look for quick money through gambling. If not attempting gambling was an ethic for them they should have stuck to another alternative why did they choose this one?

However, it is a sad story to see people who cast away gamblers thinking they are irresponsible, and then fund themselves on this same web doing the same thing. It reminds me of how vulnerable humans can be, and that anyone can change habits when a condition falls on them.
These set of people that judge gamblers as irresponsible people then for whatever reasons finds themselves into gambling, it'll be a sad and shameful story for them. I believe that most of them will be driven to consider gambling because of financial problems. When they have lost hope of raising money from any other means they'll remember a story of somebody that hits the jackpot with a small amount of money. If they're not careful they'll end up being addicts by chasing loses and end up becoming worse off than the people that they were judging.

I don't see anything wrong with gambling, so far a person is gambling responsibly. Meaning that they gamble with the amount that they can afford to loose, don't chase loses and they don't depend on gambling as a major source of income. So it's wrong for people to judge what they don't understand.
33  Economy / Economics / Re: workers are slaves and salary is just a bond tied to worker to keep them working on: September 03, 2024, 08:29:45 AM
Nope, this is just the typical reasoning of people that can’t land a decent job. Work is important to the economy in general because it generates profit for the company which being distributed to people that work for it.
I understand that the OP used the term slave for workers in a figurative sense, meaning that they solely depends on whatever they're given by their bosses and they can not add anything in decision making. But we can not generalize every worker into this box, it depends on where you're working, some workers in well organized companies and institutions are far better off working for someone than being sole proprietors. Workers who are in the category of "slave" no job security are the ones that are working for employers that doesn't care for the welfare of their employees.

When you're working in a place where all your entitlements are taken care of and when you retire you're paid gratuity that can sustain you till you die, that is job security. Established companies sends their staff for training to increase their effectiveness on the their jobs. Some companies even share dividends to their staff after they've hit their target for the year. Although being your own boss is good, also working in a place where your inputs are appreciated and you're well renumerated is good as well.
34  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: have you ever thought of winning jackpot from a a risky game? on: September 03, 2024, 07:04:09 AM
[quote author=Pi-network314159 link=topic=5508060.msg64489133#msg64489133 date=1725291645

If we try risky games with lesser amount for longer time, is there any possibility to win huge someday?

Please shear your thoughts.

[/quote]
Gambling is risky and there's no guarantee of winnings no matter the level of risks that you're willing to apply so it's ok to use any strategy that you think can work for you. Using small amounts for risky games to try your luck on jackpot over a long period of time can give you what you want or maybe not but I think it's worth a trial. I believe that it's mostly in lottery games that people usually bet the same numbers for over a long period of time in the hope that it'll give them the jackpot someday. My take is that whatever strategy that someone chooses for gambling, let them use the amount that they can afford to loose.
35  Economy / Economics / Re: To create wealth and any kind of material things you need one thing on: September 02, 2024, 01:30:34 PM
Next thing what i say will Open your mind
You suppousto not know this but i tell you.
In order to create material things and physical things the 3rd dimensional LOWER vibration (COLOR RED) energy is needed.
So negative energy is what creates wealth and wealth is we are not talking..who get wealth.but we talking about in order to build something we need to harness lower vibration energy.i stop here ! Im blocked to say more

How can you say that negative energy is what it takes to build wealth? I don't understand, unless if someone is perhaps talking about criminality or secret stuffs then it's not for everybody. Anyway I'm concerned about positive energy and that is the driver to wealth creation and peace of mind. To create wealth you need the right mindset and the knowledge to pursue your dreams and that will boost that positive mindset that you can be able to scale any hurdles along the way. There is no shortcut to true and lasting wealth, it's the positivity in you that will help you to overcome every obstacles to achieve greatness.
36  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Tribulations Nigerians are going through from the removal of subsidy on: September 02, 2024, 11:21:11 AM
In di first place we no suppose to get anything like fuel subsidy for imported finished products because all our refineries suppose to de work. Di main problem of Nigeria, na corruption in high places and di corrupt politicians no go let progress to de for di country so dat dem go de get opportunities to de steal money. Where I take give up for Nigeria, fuel and refinary matter na wen dem no let Dangote, private refinary to work because e go disturb dem to de import substandard petroleum products.

Our leaders no get better plan for us odawise how new government go just enter power and dem go just comot fuel subsidy without putting anything inplace to cushion di effect wey e go get on di economy. I no support fuel subsidy but di timing wey our government take remove am na im follow put us for dis hardship wey we de face today. I even hear say di subsidy don return but how e take help us as citizens of di country. Fuel price don reach all-time high of 1000 naira per litre and we still de for suffering and smiling. Nigeria, matter don tire me, we need good leaders wey go cause a paradigm shift for our economy.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: September 02, 2024, 10:14:25 AM
One, you must above 18 years in my country and secondly you must have an experience to play, so I want to know if inexperienced people can also play gamble.
A person should be 18 years old and above to be eligible to gamble, gambling is meant for adults that are earning money and can make independent decisions for themselves. People who are underaged shouldn't be allowed to gamble because you need to be old enough to accept the consequences of your actions.

I don't think that it's mandatory that you should have any experience before you can gamble, you're an adult and it's your money. You don't need any experience to spend your money, it's your decision to either spend it wisely or foolishly. Bet companies and casinos don't care about your experience they want you to lose your money and come back to lose some more. Besides, experience in gambling doesn't guarantee wins so you're hoping on luck to favor you when you gamble.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Laszlo Hanyecz is a Bitcoin legend. on: September 02, 2024, 08:34:34 AM
Thank you, what a great series I enjoyed reading this thread about the history of Bitcoin and Lazalo.

Many people think that Lazalo is just an ordinary person who spent 10,000 Bitcoins to buy a slice of pizza, which is considered the most expensive pizza in history, but they do not know that Lazalo was one of the first developers of Bitcoin and that he spent this amount of Bitcoin, which is considered a fortune today, to prove the idea he believed in by transforming Bitcoin from something virtual to something tangible on the ground.
No doubt that Laszlo Hanyecz, is a Bitcoin legend and what he did will always amaze every Bitcoin hodler now and in the future. At that time when he was buying those pizzer I wonder if he ever imagined that Bitcoin value will reach what it is today, he probably would've hodl every but if it. I also thought that he was one of the early buyers who had so much Bitcoin that he didn't know what to do with and he had to order pizza to offload some from his bag. I hope that he still has many Bitcoin today because it'll be heartbreaking if he doesn't and he's not super rich.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you need to show for KYC level 2, KYC level 3 for casino's? on: September 02, 2024, 06:58:30 AM
You forget about the first phase of the KYC, which is the primary KYC that requires the gambler to fill out their name and mobile number when necessary.

Totally correct, the different levels in identification, is just a means for the casino to get to know you as a customer. So they request as you play more and win more, you complete these verification steps so you can access all features of the casino and don't get restricted during any withdrawal process. Each of these kyc levels has different periods of completion but to be on the safer side, it would be better to completely fill them or go through them as early as possible so it doesn't become an issue later on.. just to be clear, all casino might not have the same requirements for each kyc levels so do proper research on what is required before registering on any casino so you know which documents you have or don't have.
Different casinos have different modes of identification but basically they all want to make sure that they get to know you as their customer. We just have to accept these KYC verifications as parts of the processes and the phases of registrations of online gambling. Many gamblers don't like the idea of submitting their KYC to whom they're not seeing but it has become a necessity. I don't think that the casinos cares for this KYC drills from gamblers but they're also complying to government regulations.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will you finally buy on: September 01, 2024, 01:36:16 PM

To the procrastinators in the building, when will you finally buy? Or you're looking for one sweet excuse you will use this time around?

I believe that the procrastination about whether to buy Bitcoin or not has drastically reduced over the years since it's creation. Many people were skeptical about it in it's early days because it was still new then and they weren't sure whether it was a scam project so you couldn't blame anyone then. But today that Bitcoin has gained reputation as a store of value and the adoption is increasing everyday, there's no need to overemphasize it's worth as a valuable asset that will keep increasing in price on the long term. Anybody that doesn't hodl Bitcoin today must be as a result of the fact that they're not interested in cryptocurrency investment, not because they don't believe that it's not an asset that is worth holding.
