21  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Spondoolies SP20 Issue on: December 27, 2015, 11:30:41 PM
Thank you for your advice. I agree. That was just one of the tests I did for maybe 3 minutes. I agree I dont link having too high of temps. Before I was having issues with this unit I always ran the fan at 100%. The room I was "Testing" in for that screenshot has to have noise kept at a minimum.

I have also tried reseating all connectors to no avail.
22  Bitcoin / Mining support / Spondoolies SP20 Issue on: December 24, 2015, 04:27:36 AM
Hello all, I am having a bit of trouble with my SP20. I am having issues with one of the loops being disabled. I have not tried a different PSU as I dont have one worthy. I have tried switching around the PCIe cables to see if it was a power issue. I am using a EVGA Supernova 1300 G2. I have tried a factory reset even as well as different firmware versions and even tried using the sd card to boot. The problem started when I tried lowering the watts.

Last night I even removed all the heat sinks from each hashing board cleaned all the chips and sinks real well and applied fresh thermal paste.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have a bad board?

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to look into this for me.

Also, should I be worried about the BIST Fails?

23  Bitcoin / Mining support / Spondoolies SP20 Help Please on: August 06, 2015, 12:36:58 AM
Hello all. A little help needed. My spondoolies sp 20 was working great but now it dont. I have a feeling the controller board went bad but am not sure. I cannot get it to boot up. I tried the SD card method to boot it and it wont boot up. question 1: if the hashing boards go bad, should I still be able to access the log in page of the miner?

The miner is not pulling an ip addy. The Ethernet lights blink but the green light next to the Ethernet port does not light up. It would usually light up green or yellow but now does nothing.

Please help.

It was working fine. Then I tried plugging in a edimax usb wireless nic to get wireless going. The web interface detected it and I got a connection. I then powered it off and transported it to another location ant that is when it failed to word. I have tried it with and without the usb wifi.

When the power is turned on, the fan spins on high.

Does anyone have a controller board they would sell? I love this miner and want to get it back up n running.

How can I tell if it is the Controller or the hashing boards?

I am unfamiliar with Zen Controller so this may not apply, but I recall someone posting before that there is a glitch where the miner reports a theoretical hash rate instead of the actual hash rate. You may want to check the speed that is being reported poolside.

You were very right. I checked on Westhash and I was showing 0. Restarted the Pi and rechecked Westhash and low n behold, It was rising from 0.

Hello all,

Today I was moving around some equipment. I forgot to turn the PSU I am using to power my Gridseed G Blade on. I have the Gblade connected to a Zen Controller and a powered USB hub(10 port). I noticed that the Gridseed G Blade was on, despite the PSU being off. So I logged into my Zen Controller and it showed it was hashing at 5600 khs. My question is, why do I need the PSU, or do I? It seems the USB hub is powering the G Blade. Does this make sense? Am I being dumb and missing something?
you dont want to use usb power that might burn out your usb h/w.

I had a feeling this would be the case. I was just surprised to see it was still hashing away at full speed. I felt the hub and the hubs power adapter and cord and all was still cool.

27  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: August 30, 2014, 06:21:23 PM
what is power consumption for the S3 if you undervolt it ?

I really wish I know how to answer that.

This Antminer S3 is connected solely to a Corsair TX 500 watt 80+ Bronze PSU. Originally it was connected to a Rosewill Lighning 1300 80+ PSU. I know it isnt a PSU issue as the Rosewill 1300 watt is currently running a OCd S3(Batch6), An OCd S1 and 5 Fury's without issue. The Corsair TX 500 watt powers my OCd S3 batch 6 with no issues either.
28  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: August 30, 2014, 03:45:45 PM
Hello again.

I just received another S3 and have some questions. First off, how can I tell what batch this S3 is? I already have a Batch 6. I have provided a screenshot below. Please take a look and see what you think. I dont have it OCed. I do have the latest firmware on it. I am having issues with the HW errors. Are these specs too high? Should I b concerned? I have thought about taking it apart and applying new thermal paste. Think that might help?

Thanx again .
You're at a 1.2% HW error rate right now. But everything else looks fine. Looks like it may be a batch 1, especially if you bought it from a third party used.

New to S3's here.

How do you calculate the HW error rate?

What should the HW error rate on an S3 be?

HW/(HW+DiffA+DiffR)=HW%

I tried setting the frequency of this Antminer S3 down a step from stock. And the HW errors dropped drastically. Still wish I knew what Batch this was. I got it Shipped in 2 days for $340. Despite the issue with the HW errors, Think this was a fair price? I paid alot more for my Batch 6 shipped from Bitmain. Think there is something I can do to this S3 to make it run better at the proper stock frequency and to possibly make it able to OC? I really wish I knew if there was a way to determine what batch this S3 is from......Does anyone know how to tell?

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt Algorithms ????? on: August 29, 2014, 11:18:12 PM
Scrypt ASIC is only designed to mine scrypt coin.

The way hashlet set itself up for customer. They do not even need to have a real miner mining to do daily payment.

They can simply use your money to pay you back daily and keep the remaining for their own profit as you can't possibly make profit with Scrypt Asic.

Could you show me some examples of what equipment can mine Scrypt A.-Nf ,X11, X13, x15 , Keccak, and Nist 5?

I also have 2 XFX ATI 7950 video cards that are crossfire capable. I could put em in one of my systems. Either Core 2 Duo or I5.

I had/have an XFX Ati 7970 video card but a power outtage/surge happened and now it wont work. Thought about about contacting XFX support about it but I dont think it's under warranty and I nolonger have the paperwork(reciepts) for it even if it were. Bummer.

Hello, I just bought 6 Fury's from Gaw Miners as well as a Zen Controller and a couple of Hashlets. I am wondering a few things. I have 5 Fury's connected up to a Zen Controller and another connected to a PC using Bfgminer. I am using Westhash as my pool for the Fury's and am Using Zen Pool for the Hashlet's. I am obviously mining using Scrypt. I am curious, is it possible to use any of this equipment to mine using Scrypt N, Scrypt A.-Nf, X11, X13? If so could u lead me to a tutorial as to how I may do this? Is it just a matter of choosing the url the Pool specifies to use or do I have to use specialized equipment specifically for those Algorithms? I am new to this mining stuff but have jumped in full force as much as my budget will allow. I am also mining Sha256 using 2 Antminer S1's and 2 Antminer S3's. I also have 2 Gridseed G-Blades on their way to me. As I earn some BTC's I intend on purchasing some more equipment(newer and faster, more efficient). Been doing ALOT of reading but my mind is turning to mush trying to take this all in while understanding it.

Thanx for any assistance you can offer.

32  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Feeding the antminer S3 with 3 pci-e cables? on: August 29, 2014, 09:30:27 PM

I have originally wondered about the server PSU possibility. I got a good deal on my rosewill lighning 1300 watt($139) and my Corsair's($49 for the 750 watt 80plus bronze) ($29 for 600 watt 80plus Bronze). The reason I didnt do the Server PSUs was I couldnt find the breakout board option for sale at the time and I couldnt find info on efficiency.

How is the efficiency of the Server PSUs as compared to the 80+ Bronze, Gold or Platinum ATX PSUs?

Also, is it any easier on electric and/or heat to run on 220/230 volts AC as opposed to 110/115?
Server PSU's are generally at least 80% efficient, and this 2000w one is 90+% at 50+% load.

not sure i fully understand your question about "easier on electric and/or heat" but things run more efficiently (ie lower overall watt usage) on higher voltage because they require lower amperage which means less of your electricity is converted to heat (due to resistance).  if you want to better understand this link may help (or may just confuse your more) - http://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=608751.

V (volts) x A (amps) = W (watts)

I was wondering about the 220/230 vs. 110/115. I ask my father n law about this and he always refers to that same formula. Why are appliances(dryers for example) always 220/230 rather than 110/115? Whats the advantage? It seems like a disadvantage as you would have to run a 220/230 circuit? Some have told me in the past that appliances run on the higher volts as this makes them more efficient. We just wired my trailer/mobile home with new circuits to avoid me burning the place down. We ran 110/115 runs. We also stepped up the incoming feed from a 100 amp main to a 200 amp main. Does this mean there is no advantage to running 220/230? Sorry if this seems dumb. I just dont get it.

What I mean by easier on electric is Use less, and what I mean by easier on heat is produce less heat/
33  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Feeding the antminer S3 with 3 pci-e cables? on: August 29, 2014, 03:37:04 PM
The PSU seems to shut down when feeding it with just 2. It might be because the cables are made for just 75W and it pulls 180W through each (so it drains 360W in total).
So, I'm thinking can I plug a 3rd pci-e cable, without overclocking it just to spread the power a bit more, or it doesn't work like this?

the power usage is separate per side so the 3rd cable would just help distribute the power load on that one side.  i'm not affiliated with minersource (http://minersource.net/products/dell-750w-psu-slash-adapter) or gekkoscience (http://www.gekkoscience.com/products/D750_supply_breakout_board.html) at all but i've purchased several of these products and they are prob the best use of your $ if you are going to run S1's, S3's, BTC Gardens, etc.

yes looks like much cheaper solution. My question is why everyone is using ATX PSUs then?

well i hesitate to call them morons or ignorant, but probably the latter.  they either dont realize these products are out there or feel they are not as safe.  or possibly the fact that they are pretty much targeted for this purpose only makes them harder to resell or reuse in a gaming rig later.  gekkoscience's latest product can run 5x S3's - http://minersource.net/products/delta-dps2000w-with-adapter-board - with even some room for overclocking.  you just have to make sure you keep it cool and have 220/240v power.

How do you keep it cool? And does it require some soldering?

i just have a box fan that i use to move air across it and push the stagnant heat to the other side of the room and it seems to keep cool enough.

no soldering needed.  the board that interfaces with the power supply plugs right in and has an on/off switch and the power is distributed through screw-down terminals.  the cables they provide with the unit are the U-type clips that slide in and you screw down.

I have originally wondered about the server PSU possibility. Yes i want to mine btc.
I have 15 dollars to spent on online btc mining.
From where can i buy something like that ?

15 dollars? Are you serious?
You cannot buy any equipment that will profit with 15 dollars. Don't even think about it unless you have a couple hundred to spare.

You can get a Fury from Gaw Miners for under 40 bucks shipped and connect it to your laptop using the included USB cord and it's powered by the included power brick(60 watt, 5 amp, 115 volt AC). Then use a mining application such as BFGminer.

As I said, last night I bought 2 Hashlet's at 1MH each. They were 19.99 each. Wish I had bought more as today they raised their prices to 24.99 per MH.

On the bright side, I am getting 4+ MH.

i recently bought a hashlet and i now have a 3 invites into zencloud.
i have no clue if these are worth anything..
please help or offer me if they are Smiley Smiley Wink Grin Roll Eyes

I bought 2 1MH hashlets last night. Not really sure if I understand what they are as of yet but they are each hashing away. I chose Nicehash as the pool. What are the invites for and how did u recieve them? Dont you have to use Zencloud with the Hashlets? I cant use the Hashlets to mine to the pool of my choice can I? I have to mine to what they offer me a choice of is how I understand it.

how do you enjoy westhash ? Smiley

So far so good. I am really new to all this and dont really understand the benefit to using different pools however I have been making BTCs daily so I cant complain.

Well guys, Thanx for all your help.

I have it all fixed now. I totally uninstalled Armory AND Bitcoin and deleted all App data as well for both programs. Then reinstalled both programs from scratch. Then let it run overnight and now that I am up it appears all is well now.

Thanx soooo much all for taking the time to read this Newbies post and Chiming in with advice. Wink

40  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: My Wallet Is Empty. Where is my BTC? on: August 20, 2014, 11:57:09 PM
If it is all the same addresses and it shows some of the transactions then the blockchain is not being scanned completely.  It should not be taking an hour for Armory to sync up as well.

The transactions seem rather large in terms of data so maybe that is slowing down Armory or crashing it.

https://blockchain.info/address/1QCPkgaYk8pfepa2CCgdMSpvXyNz3CYRao

I would delete the blockchain data from your bitcoin-d and reload the blockchain.  Wait until bitcoin-d is all caught up.  Then run Armory again and let it run.

What is the best way to do this. Go into Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Armory and Bitcoin-d or just use the Armory Factory Reset (Most Extreme Option)?

I have a 105M/10M Internet connection here. How long should it take to reload the blockchain?
