Hello all,

Today I was moving around some equipment. I forgot to turn the PSU I am using to power my Gridseed G Blade on. I have the Gblade connected to a Zen Controller and a powered USB hub(10 port). I noticed that the Gridseed G Blade was on, despite the PSU being off. So I logged into my Zen Controller and it showed it was hashing at 5600 khs. My question is, why do I need the PSU, or do I? It seems the USB hub is powering the G Blade. Does this make sense? Am I being dumb and missing something?

you dont want to use usb power that might burn out your usb h/w.

I had a feeling this would be the case. I was just surprised to see it was still hashing away at full speed. I felt the hub and the hubs power adapter and cord and all was still cool.

I am unfamiliar with Zen Controller so this may not apply, but I recall someone posting before that there is a glitch where the miner reports a theoretical hash rate instead of the actual hash rate. You may want to check the speed that is being reported poolside.

You were very right. I checked on Westhash and I was showing 0. Restarted the Pi and rechecked Westhash and low n behold, It was rising from 0.
