21  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triple bottom: yes or no on: July 05, 2018, 03:06:28 PM
What I mean is, a person may come up and buy 10k bitcoin at once and get us to 7k or maybe another person just sells 100k bitcoins which would cripple us for a long time. What will happen can not be explained via charts as long as these "one person changing the market" situation stays.

this is not some Sci Fi movie, this is real life. 10k bitcoin is worth $66+ million. you can't even transfer that much money into exchanges all at once. your bank won't even allow that to happen, not to mention all the red flags that you are going to rise if you do that.
selling it is the same, specially if you are talking about 100k bitcoin which is $660 million! you can't just throw random numbers without giving it some thought.

True that, many people think that it's just a walk in the park to move 9 figures into an exchange to buy or sell, but that isn't the case. It would raise all kinds of alarms when you moved that kind of money. It is NOT impossible tho. As far as I know (unfortunately I don't know by myself) you could theoretically move 9 figures, but it would take a long time, you need certain permissions, you need to talk to both bank and exchange about it. Also most likely anyone that has these huge amounts has it diversified into various bank accounts which result in more time invested as you would need to plan it up with every single different bank involved, then the government will be on your ass short after so you need to have everything ready paperwork wise. It's a big mess but you could do it. It would be extremely stupid tho, there's too much risk involved in having 9 figures in an exchange, better to do it in smaller batches, and you will also not make enemies in the process, since you will be damaging the price if you dump at once, holders will not appreciate that.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: 500,000 Bitcoins will be sold on: July 05, 2018, 02:49:31 PM
You have to post proof when you are making such a big claim. 500.000 BTC is a lot of money and it looks like you are making things up in your head. I doubt people in here is saying "im going to sell specifically X amount of BTC" and you have done an study to sum all of these potential sales into a big round "500.000 BTC" number. Sounds pretty dumb actually, that's why your threads my be removed as baseless FUD. At least post it in speculation where it belongs, otherwise you come across as yet another kwukduck.

Hi, I'm now direct to an Australia institution coin holder, he would like to sell his coin at discount rate, supply range from minimum 1,000 bitcoins (min) - 341,000 bitcoins (max). Willing to do proof of coin first. Willing to use escrow or meetup. Willing to do KYC and AML. Willing to pay commission to intermediaries/broker.

If interested please contact me on telegram: @jackwongvt

Looks like you fell for an obvious scammer:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4588846.0

This guy has an obvious scheme going on in which he plays a role of a big whale. Anyone with some experience this forum (filled with scammers) should know that that sounds really bad. If he wanted to, he could make his stack public to know he isn't trolling. But perhaps that is too much to ask for an scammer Roll Eyes

Someone should attempt to act as if you are going to buy the whole stack, force him to disclose a message signing his full stack, if he refuses then it's proven he is a scammer.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Skycoin: good entry point or buying into a scam? on: July 04, 2018, 12:34:17 PM
After the very strange incidents that happened on the Skycoin community, with the founder allegedly simulating being held hostage mixed with missing funds, the market crashed like no other.

https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/skycoin/usd

Click on he all time chart, and you will see how it's pretty much near all time lows.

As it bottomed? opportunity to get in very cheap before the next big x100 pump? Or buying into a scam that will keep going down slowly? Discuss.

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Celebrities and Cryptocurrency on: July 03, 2018, 03:11:19 PM
I have heard many celebrities talking about Bitcoin in the past, for example Ashton Kutcher seems quite interested about it and seems to have some knowledge about it past the most standard "i've heard it's digital money" thing.

Rappers like Snopp Dogg and 50 Cent have claimed to own some.

And then we've had other clueless celebrities tricked into advertising ICO scams like Floyd Mayweather or Kate Perry.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Gas Fee Super High Now! on: July 03, 2018, 02:34:27 PM
That means we are facing the same problem in ethereum as it happens to bitcoin in December when the transactions fees went up like wide fire and that affect cryptocurrencies market generally.  Many traders and holders that are using ethereum are seriously complaining about this and I think icos and bounties promoters will be the most affected.

But in ethereum it's much worse. The impact on the ecosystem translates into all the ERC tokens, so it's a mess that spreads across a bunch of other investments. The Ethereum blockchain also keeps growing in a stupid rate, meanwhile Bitcoin is capped to 1MB and this keeps the blockchain size from becoming a problem to both store and validate. I can't wait for september to see the Bcash attack and see how a 32 blocksize copes with a spamfest.

Maybe is it reason?

There's probably someone with enough time and resources to screw up the blockchain again. This is the big and unsolvable problem that Ethereum designed upon itself: A platform in which people can develop trash like Cryptokitties to bloat up the blockchain.

Ethereum is broken by design and it will not end well. It's going to collapse someday. I hate to say that but I think it's what will happen. And im not convinced that any of these so called scaling solutions will save it as well.

Stick to Bitcoin if you want to hold crypto long term, everything else is too risky. Most likely all other systems have systemic flaws on their designs.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is far more than an investment venture on: July 02, 2018, 12:09:47 PM
Anyone that has been here for years actually knows the opposite: most altcoins are scams and pointless, but it would be a mistake to think it's all a scam, there are some hidden gems out there, you just must research and put work into that, and you will find them. It's safe to think anything but Bitcoin is a scam, but with this mentality you will find the next x1000 coin. Keep searching and DON'T lose your bitcoins in the process.
30  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 226: Miocic vs Cormier Info and Prediction Thread on: July 02, 2018, 11:46:34 AM
Cormier has KO power, or at least enough to shock him, destabilize him and put him on the ground, then Miocic's long arms and legs will be Cormier's playground to finish the fight, he is an olympian wrestler, top level, nobody is as good as him at least in HW division.

Cormier will have to rely on his insane reach advantage and power, on the technical aspect he is an inferior fighter. This is like McGregor vs Khabib. McGregor should try to use reach and striking advantage to not get destroyed in the wrong by Khabib superior ground game, and Khabib should avoid striking due short arms and inferior striking game. Interesting fight I cant wait.
31  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 02, 2018, 11:41:55 AM
Yeah I don't know what the commentators are on about saying it's Messi's final appearance for Argentina. He's still got a few Copas left in him, he can still play a big role in qualifying for next one, and I don't see why he can't hold out for another 4 years. He's still on top of his game. Form is temporary, and his class just gets better and better. Of course, if others step up, then why not? But too early to speculate on his retirement.

I didn't see the 1-1 draws leading to penalties. Definitely didn't see the second match to preserve the scoreline for 120 minutes after the early salvo of goals. I'm really beginning to enjoy the tournament finally.

Let's see if I can snap a 5-day losing streak with separate bets on Japan to progress @6.04 and Mexico to follow @4.64:

https://www.bitcoinrush.io/sportsbook/ShareBet?id=sYcPoOuxpzCYgMkpXXqtQi%2BUqXJj8biKy0rfLvv7ItM%3D

I don't think so, probably Eurocup for 2020 if he performs exceptionally well in Barca in the next 2 years, but this pretty pointless since as we know Messi doesn't perform as good in the Argentina team. I think it's over for Messi, definitely he will not be in 2022 world cup again, so 2020 Euro is last chance, same for Ronaldo, but Ronaldo already got the Euro, he is missing a world cup and this was his last chance.
32  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: July 01, 2018, 01:40:00 PM
Guys do you think Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi met at the airport on the way home? They could have even taken the same flight lol. Wouldn't that be very awkward?  Grin I am wondering if Diego Maradona will stay in Russia till the final or he is also leaving now that Argentina have been knocked out of the tourney.

I don't think so. Maybe they coincided in the airport but they definitely didn't take the same flight, I think teams have individual planes.

Unfortunately they are both out so lets look at the remaining matches. Russia vs Spain starting right now, this one will be big. I find it very interesting that Spain has not scored a single goal against the host of a World Cup since the 1950's... maybe today it will be the day this unlucky streak is broken. Spain is a superior team to Russia I have no doubts about that, but Russia is the one that will have the most support in the field for obvious reasons, but still, this is nothing for the elite players in Spain, most are from Real Madrid and Barcelona, they are used to everything.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy on: July 01, 2018, 12:58:18 PM
In my experience, there is no point in trying to convince people to buy bitcoin at any price, the will ALWAYS be waiting for a better entry point. This is what happened after MtGox collapsed and so did the price, at some point I started telling people to start considering, at least considering buying, and im talking about $300 range price which was near the bottom. The price was on that range for a long time and none of them were interested in buying. People always become interested when everyone else is already FOMOing back. People that buy during these periods of post-crash FUD are the ones that become rich long term, most people simply aren't cut to to be able to see a good buy when the price has collapsed, they just assume "it's dead", no matter how many times they get proven wrong.
34  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triple bottom: yes or no on: July 01, 2018, 12:18:35 PM
Maybe the theory of miners not leaving Bitcoin go below $6,000 is real? remember that there is this big rumor of $6,000 being the price in which miners would start losing money. What dumb miner would sell their Bitcoin at a loss? I think this may be true after all. They will keep it above this range until bears give up, then the rest will FOMO back in.

$6000 on average sounds kind of high, does it not? maybe times have changed---sometimes i forget that BTC isn't still trading in the $200s too.

gotta account for subsidized electricity too, and more importantly, bitmain. they have a near monopoly on chip manufacturing, then they mine with customer hardware and probably have the best electricity rates in the world. then again, i suspect bitmain withholds most of their coins from the market....

lots of variables here. Smiley

Indeed, and miners will ALWAYS mine with the latest, unreleased hardware. If Bitmain or whoever else makes a big advancement in mining technology, they aren't going to release it right away, they will take this advantage for themselves secretly, then sell it later on, so these big miners that have money invested in research always have the advantage. Best electricity rates and best technology, the competition in bitcoin mining is extremely high if you want to surpass the big names.
35  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are now in the middle of this year,do you think BTC rise up has begun? on: July 01, 2018, 12:14:21 PM
It seems to be holding well after the big pump of $1000. We were at $5774 and we pumped to $6510 which is impressive. Now we are finding common ground at around $6300 area and seems stable. If we can get to $8000 things will start looking good. If we can cross $10,000 and stay above the 5 figure mark things will look great and I will start believing in incoming ATH this year.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to touch $5500? on: June 30, 2018, 12:54:18 PM
Will BTC touch $5500 or rebound b4 then?
It didn't touch $5500 and now the price is above $6400 in Preev.com

We need to stop these kind of predictions because this is one of the reason for the price fall in the crypto currency market,we need to be a long term holder to make more profits then we no need to worry about these short bumps and dumps.

Current lows are $5774.7 in Bitstamp, $5755 in Bitfinex, and I haven't checked on the rest of exchanges but it seems it should be pretty even. For some reason bitcoinwisdom is still showing BTC-e and OkCoin which have been dead for years now. Who is the idiot managing that website? Can't he just add Kraken and another exchange so we can more have active markets? Someone tell him to update his damn website.
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triple bottom: yes or no on: June 30, 2018, 12:32:13 PM
I would like to find out what the sentiment on this is... some people are considering a triple bottom situation in which we'll not dip much further below the $5k range, and the beginning towards the next bull period will start, or at least a good rise if not necessarily reaching ATH without further big dips. Let's say testing $10k after a triple bottom, would do, then followed by a dip, then going for ATH.

Others say triple bottoms are like unicorns and it will just not happen, it's too rare, so we are going lower.

It's now or never, if there is a triple bottom, formation must happen rather soon, time for a poll.

Bulls are still managing to hold onto the $6,000 level for now, so we can't rule it out. But in terms of predictions, I'm in the "unicorn" camp. I've never really seen triple bottoms work on any instruments I trade.

I also wouldn't consider $5K and below a triple bottom. That's 16% + below the first bottom. But if we hit that range and see signs of accumulation, it could play out as ProwdClown is predicting in his thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4466954.0

38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hi Legendaries! Any predictions as to when will the bitcoin will rise frm 2day? on: June 30, 2018, 12:09:15 PM
A lot of people are expecting lower prices, but we MAY have bottomed already, this may lead in a cascade of FOMOs as people slowly realize the bottom was set in a while ago. This is very common, bottoms are very hard to call, sometimes they happen and most people stay on denial that it happened, they keep waiting for what in their minds should be the bottom, which never arrives. Eventually and exponentially they end up buying again and we go to ATH.

40  Economy / Speculation / Re: Which will happen first? BTC=$4999 or less, or $10,000 or more on: June 29, 2018, 01:05:14 PM
I see $4999 before $10,000, but the people expecting the usual massive drop after a round number like $5000 being broken on the downside may get liquidated fast and brutally. Bull pressure will be higher and shorts will get removed, that coincides with the $4900 resistance point which I believe will hold, then FOMO will kick in and we'll test $10,000 again. We can be at new all time highs by X-Christmas once again, this time in a much healthier pace than last time. Remember that I was less than a month to go from current prices to $20k.
