21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] ShadowCash | POSV2 | Untraceable E-Cash | NIZKP | HD+BIP32 | ShadowMarket* on: February 13, 2016, 04:45:04 AM
So, their whole blockchain is now useless from a privacy perspective right?

The SDC portion was always equivalent to BTC from a privacy perspective (except for being less used which likely makes it worse in practice).

The Shadow portion has functioning (afaik) stealth addresses but the ring sigs did not function. That makes it equivalent to BTC where addresses are never reused. No 'mixing' function.

You are too much of a gentleman.

It is much much much worse than bitcoin because people have used the "anonymous" feature of this coin with the expectation of anonymity. This jeopardizes their freedom, safety, and maybe even life.

It's inexcusable.

You issued this:

https://blog.shadowproject.io/2016/02/12/deanonymize-shadow-nope/

"We would like you -our dedicated users- to know that, after 10+ hours of testing by Shadow’s core developers, our team has not yet managed to deanonymize any private transaction."

If so, then you either lied about your core developers being unable to write a few lines of code in a 10 hours, or they aren't able to do so.I don't know which.

This coin will never have credibility because the devs are incompetent and the community is slime.

I remember they viciously fudded other coins for the content of their roadmaps, nitpicking on technicalities.

And here, through gross incompetence, the devs jeopardize the safety (yes safety) of every person who used their "anonymous" system.

I know my post will get deleted because of the intellectual dishonesty of the devs, but hopefully it will stand long enough for a few others to read it.

^^ Shadow's #1 fan!

6 posts ever made and all in this thread!

I've probably made 30 here but they get deleted. Criticism really isn't tolerated here. It shows in the code vulnerabilities.

https://blog.shadowproject.io/2016/02/12/deanonymize-shadow-nope/

If anyone from the Monero camp wishes to help attempt to deanonymize an actual transaction, feel free.

I just read through this and am slightly confused. It's not clear to me whether a problem exists or not.
All Im getting is:
a) we couldn't de-anon a tx using the vulnerability published after trying for 10 hours. This does not seem exhaustive and the blog shows no fancy maths to prove everything is OK
b) Your NOT gonna award the bounty cause he declared it publicly first.

Am I the only one who thinks more investigation is needed?

You are not.

The discussion on the github thread is anything but conclusive.

Also "trying for 10 hours" to deanonymize a transaction may mean that they didn't find a particular instance where this problem applies. I'd hate to be the politically persecuted individual who tried to send an "anonymous" token only to get it deanonymized because this particular vulnerability applied to my transaction.

The most likely case is that they couldn't find any transactions to deanonymize because no one actually uses this anonymous system. Probably for good reason.

....

So you make an unsubstantiated claim, then do the exact thing to sdc that you just accused sdc of doing. So based on that my conclusion is that I should not follow any advice you have to give and disregard it as BS. Since you are exactly what you argue against.

It's a warning bro. To future bagholders.

Oh, and silly me, stealth addresses are part of the bytecoin ringsignature system anyway. They didn't even have to be ported between languages.

==============

Future bagholders, take heed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=818939.msg9645829#msg9645829

It has played out exactly as I predicted and will continue to do so because reality is uncompromising.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The full truth behind ShadowCash/Coin trolls and their attacks on other coins. on: November 25, 2014, 12:25:48 AM
Fuck SDC.  Actually, the coin and the dev I'm okay with.  It's the trolls that can take a long walk off a short pier.

The trolls are the big bagholders. They have forced the lead dev to clone cryptonote so that the trolls can get out from under those bags.

According to the SDC thread fluff, their ring signatures with "zero knowledge" is the biggest thing to happen to anon since cryptonote itself, but the price isn't rising very fast. Why? Because the big bag holders are selling right into the buy support to unload their bags. This is going to continue until release when the dumps are going to happen in "sell on the news" strategy, leaving a new generation of SDC bagholders who will be worse trolls than the ones who came before them.

There needs to be blacklists on bitcointalk to stop these guys. They are toxic to crypto.

Surprisingly enough he's a bit busy doing dev work. And why would he delete all their posts? Rynomster's received threats in personal messages without knowing what the fuck it was about. Is that ok too?

I posted that in the shadow thread.

It has been deleted. I think they want to war on all other alt coins.

This is where you guys are making yourselves look as bad if not worse than the people have you have a problem with. How has rynomster been at all involved with this? You've taken the actions of two or three people who're invested in SDC and started casting aspersions on the devs and the whole community. It's dishonest and it's lazy.

Rynomster could delete all of their posts on the shadow thread. Then it would be over I bet. As it stands, he looks complicit.

The only thing that I care is the Market cap wich is going really bad righ now.

Good thing we haven't started marketing yet then Smiley Which is something along with fudding other coins that i'm sure the devs and community will do when we have a working zk-snarks.

The foundations are solid and the cornerstones are in place the future seems bright to me whatever may happen or come its going to work out fine. I do not look to marketcap in a startup such as this to determine its relevance and future..Not when it hasn't been pitched to a broader market in the first place. Its only been in this forum working on its foundations so the marketcap is reflecting that imo.

With the release of zk-snarks implimentation i assume thats when we can all start working on a market adoption Smiley it is the wise way and it is the reason it has been done this way. working product to sell as opposed to just claims not backed by experience and history.

I agree. SDC is going over the moon with zk-SNARKs and fudding. This is going to make a marketing bonanza. I've looked into a lot of anon technology. There are about 4 main types: mixing, ring signatures, stealth addresses (which SDC pioneered!), and zk-SNARKs. They were first proposed for zerocoin, but that's still a work in progress. Given all the innovations that rynomster has had so far, I think he'll be the one to pull it off!

To da moon!!! \o/
