21  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Making money off of internet bandwidth on: August 17, 2015, 05:02:07 PM
I should be going up from 50 Mbps to 1000 Mbps later this week if install goes well.  Should know this week hopefully.

Is there any way's anyone is making money off their extra bandwidth?  Just wondering if there is a way to monetize it if I do get the install later this week.

I can't really think of anything other than downloading things for people. Maybe you could advertise that as a service or set up some sort of mini internet cafe lol.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any chance Dogecoin will ever reach 1 Doge = 0.10$ ? on: August 03, 2015, 04:29:02 PM
I remember thinking this same kind of thing when I first got some Doge. I did all the calculations in my head of how much I'd have even if it just went to one cent; then if it went to one cent, then surely ten cents was possible, then why not fifty or a dollar even.

Sigh.

If only.

I soon got out of Doge.

When you do the math, it's just not happening. The last chance was when all the last Doge was mined IMO. If it was ever going to happen, it was then.

I think most newbs think like this when they get involved in crypto. Many feel they missed the boat with bitcoin so they look for the next best thing but don't realize the math behind it. I'm surprised doge has lasted this long to be honest. Might as well just stick with bitcoin for potential future profit imo.
23  Other / Meta / Re: Is it me or is the Altcoin section dead? on: July 20, 2015, 10:30:29 AM
You used to get some semi sensible discussions in this section with some posts actually making sense and interesting projects being discussed, now the entire section is just full of Bullshit.

I think it has pretty much always been like this. Sure, you get some decent discussion but most of the time its always been just trolls and bagholders pumping or spreading fud.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which cryptocurrencys are the best to invest in for the future? on: July 20, 2015, 10:28:11 AM
Bitcoin. I don't really have much faith in any alts but maybe one could arise that has other benefits, but at the moment I'd stick with bitcoin.

I always regret not being an early adopter of bitcoin since the price on that coin exploded.

So I want to invest in some coins hoping that some time in the future the price will have gone up alot.

I'm going to drop $300 on dogecoin but can anyone suggest any others that have potential? Maybe litecoin?

Thanks

Why waste money on doge or ltc? It's likely not too late too invest in bitcoin for big gains especially if you have patience. Just biuy and hold bitcoin and I think you'll be happy you did within a few years.
25  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning Bitcoins on: July 06, 2015, 09:13:00 AM

Yeah faucets is not the fast way to earn bitcoin and signature compaign is good for earning BTC...
Captcha filling is also best way to earn bitcoin. You can earn 0.8$ for solving every 1000 captchas.

Earning a dollar for filling in 1000 mind numbing captchas doesn't sound very good to me. How long does it take to fill in those 1k captchas?
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I thought litecoin was more secure. on: July 06, 2015, 09:10:55 AM
A quick glance at https://vircurex.com

Reveals that litecoin is not secured by all that much network hash. Am i missing something? Sure litecoin has volume and high market cap but several coins crush litecoin in terms of total hash. Ixcoin, the clone of bitcoin with all minting done for instance absolutely devestates litecoin in security.

This is a false assumption that is commonly made.  Many believe that the more complex the PoW algorithm, the more decentralized or secure the block chain is.

I think some people seem to be under the impression that because Litecoin has quicker conformation times it is therefor more secure but that's obviously not the case.
27  Other / Politics & Society / Re: America, You're Fired! on: June 18, 2015, 09:42:35 PM
The Donald does this every election cycle, and he always drops out mid-way through campaign, once the real candidates start to emerge. He does it as a publicity stunt. It's pretty easy for him to give some half-assed speech in one of his hotels (doesn't cost him much), he can drop a few lines about how successful he is or mention one of his many hotel properties and get free publicity, which will make him relevant for a minute and maybe a bump in his business.

He's like the court jester in these election proceedings. Keeps the late night talk shows with plenty of monologue material. Enjoy the show!

I think this is probably the only reason he bothers. Why else? He knows he hasn't got a chance but does it any way again and again. Sadly it looks like the states are going to have another Bush or Clinton.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht Sentenced to Life in Prison on: June 06, 2015, 09:46:33 PM
In Norway the longest sentence you can get for ANY crime is 18 years. Anders Brevik got 18 years for that kids-camp shooting rampage and he'll be getting out in about 10 years.

I think Brevik's sentence was lenient but life should only be reserved for the worst of the worst - mass murderers etc. Ross didn't deserve life. 18 would have been more appropriate.
29  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Football Discussion on: June 06, 2015, 09:39:39 PM
My prediction is 5:0 to barcelona, with messi scoring two or three

No team would be so offensive in a final game.

And Juventus is not a weak team, so they would not take so much goals and would counter attack, while the Barcelona's attackers would be too tired in the middle of the game.

Would be too risk.

I think Barcelona may score one or two times more, but no more

Juventus actually did pretty well I thought. Barca was all over them in the first half but they stopped them from getting more than the one goal. In the start of the second half Juve dominated but Barca slowly took over again.
30  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you guess about he future of bitcoin? on: May 20, 2015, 03:42:45 PM
a lot of people say thay bitcoin is not a stable currency since there are alot of fluctuations in it. but since it is a growing currency nowadays many people are using it and having profit. if it goes on like this , in future there is a chance that btc can be stable and highly secured.

It's not currently stable and that's clear for all to say, though I agree it may stabilize in the future but I'm sceptical. I think a best case scenario would be for it  to be very volatile for a few years then gradually taper off and stabilize at a decent price.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Bitcoin Rain on: May 20, 2015, 03:40:44 PM
Yeah, pretty cool idea. Would have been funny if that app they had to download was malware and stole all the coins they had in their wallets  Cheesy.
32  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Top Gear stars Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond in ITV talks on: May 10, 2015, 04:13:29 PM
Don't like Clarkson, don't care. Top Gear was one of the best car show but then they decided to do a show with cars, instead of doing reviews of cars they started to make some goofy things. And all those supposedly funny things where directed and awkward.

But did you ever watch the original Top Gear? That went into loving detail about spare wheels and positioning your choke. The current Top Gear has jumped the shark but the original makes you want to kill yourself.

But that's why this "new" incarnation of Top Gear is so popular because it's just so damn entertaining. I don't really give a shit about cars but always loved watching their road trips around the world and the banter that followed. Those three do have great chemistry whether you like em or not.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Litecoin was doomed from the start to fail on: April 25, 2015, 09:15:10 AM
I think the reason it was doomed to fail is because it doesn't offer much over bitcoin. Without merchants accepting it there's not much use for it as a currency and why would merchants use it when they can just accept bitcoin.

Point 1 - the developers of Litecoin are absent.

Wrong! Litecoin does not need any more development, therefore it does not need a developer.

Now excuse me while I get back to enjoying a large glass of Coinbase Koolaid.
34  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-10] Samsung Plans to Take Bitcoin Technology Beyond Virtual Currency on: April 10, 2015, 01:04:45 PM
I'm never quite sure what this means for bitcoin or how they will utilize the technology.

Quote
The bitcoin blockchain could allow for cheaper money transfer and be used for storage of files like songs and videos, which currently require companies to either buy hundreds of servers or lease capacity from other service providers.

Like how can songs and videos be stored on the blockchain? Won't it actually cause problems for bitcoin if it happens?
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to buy from the UK anonymously on: March 24, 2015, 12:00:01 PM
Op, where abouts in the UK do you live? Computer Exchange has some ATMs at some of their stores. Try find one close to you here: https://uk.webuy.com/stores/

You can also buy and sell stuff for bitcoins there too.

Blog post about them accepting bitcoin: https://uk.webuy.com/blog/feature.php?article=tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1918688228918285001.post-1547063677399655692
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin on webcam sites ? on: March 14, 2015, 10:03:07 AM
They probably don't but they should. I think the sex/adult industry is missing out by not accepting bitcoin. They could save a lot on fees and I know companies like Paypal wont even work with adult content.

Six confirmations would be awkward for tipping. By that time I might already be showered and ready for bed.
Why do you even need to check if it's been confirmed or not? Why is people so paranoid about this when btc transactions cant be reversed....

Agreed. Payments are instant. I've never had to worry about not receiving my coins the second after the payment was sent as I've never had any double spends so I don't think this is an issue. Besides, a payment processor would cover against this but I don't think it's necessary.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you call it the block chain or blockchain on: March 14, 2015, 09:43:55 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto always referred to it as such:
block chain

However, I see the term "blockchain" used a lot anyways. Do you think we should use Satoshi's terminology to prevent confusion with Blockchain.info, who will usually just refer to themselves as Blockchain? Or am I worried about nothing? Tongue

I always thought the proper way was one word blockchain but I wasn't aware that satoshi used it as two. I think blockchain.info was silly (or maybe genius) idea to name themselves after it though as it always leads to confusion or people mistakenly thinking they are the official block explorer.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kim Dotcom : " Let's give Bitcoin a boost " on: March 01, 2015, 10:58:03 AM
Some people are saying he is broke on this thread .
and when we say a Millionare is broke , what do we mean exactly by that ? curious Shocked

~ Madness

I'm not sure if he's broke broke but might not have much liquid cash since I think the US seized his bank accounts and many assests. Not sure if he got them back or not but I still reckon he's doing alright financially.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates 3 problems with BTC on: March 01, 2015, 10:48:38 AM
The first one is definitely a problem. Poor people can't rely on BitCoin.

They might not be able to rely on anything else. Fiat isn't immune from collapse or losing value either.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2015 and WHY on: February 11, 2015, 02:41:16 PM
Well by the looks of things the best coin to invest in would have been darkcoin. Probably too late now and is likely just a bubble but investors will be pleased.
