I am hoping the original dev comes on so we can talk about this web site... As for voting keep on voting, donating for votes if you want Wink lol

I sent him PM a couple days ago, but I haven't heard back yet... We might have to crowd fund a website.

Yeah I've got a few saved up from mining here and there since launch, enough to justify the work I guess...

Couldn't agree more on the website and logo revamp. Maybe a we'll set up a bounty after we draw some people to the to the sub. On that note, a giveaway thread there would help to bring them in.

The tipbot account is so new that it's still required to enter captchas for the verification comments and is limited in the amount of posts it can make in a certain time-frame. You know that "You're doing that too much, try again in 5 min" message? It stops the bot in it's tracks. As users upvote the bot that will not be an issue. My point is, that we can't do any large scale tipping until the bot is free to move around. So, a tip here, a tip there, upvote, upvote and we'll be rolling.

I was working on Abe about a month ago too, and gave up for the same reason. It's the transaction message capability of zeuscoin that complicates it. I was fortunate that I was able to find a code snippet that addresses the issue. To be honest, when the blocks started pouring into the db my jaw dropped! I was shocked that it worked. I would like to make it a little nicer looking, but at least it's functional.

I would also like to see the community get involved as it in our best interest and no one is going to do it for us. They'll come around, seems like people forget about zeus for months at a time, so it may take awhile...

Bumping this thread will help a lot too, so lets do some cross posting from the sub.

Alright gentlemen, it's time to breathe some life in to Zeuscoin.

I've created a few services:

Block Explorer
Subreddit
Reddit tipbot

Come and check out our subreddit and make some posts, send some tips. If we inspire just a little bit more activity on the network, we be listed @ Cryptsy in no time...

I've invested a considerable amount of time and effort to create these services, not to mention the effort and expense of running the tipbot and block explorer indefinitely, so any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dave.

Once the block reward is near 1, I believe by then hopefully the community has created a desire to have the currency.  This is usually done by some popular trading/bartering website, casinos, reliable fiat store and so on.  I would say reddit bartering for steam games and such is usually a good start.

Yes, but even if we have one of the most popular altcoins, the math clearly says that it still cannot sustain a network that can prevent easy 51% attacks. That's my whole point. Raise the minimum then this problem goes away. We don't have to raise the minimum by a lot, the essence is still preserved. Trust me, I want this coin to succeed as much as anyone, I have a modest sum of 25 mil, but if nobody takes the math seriously, I will have to bail until the community decides to come to their senses.

I completely agree with you on this and it was the first thing I thought when looking at the specs for this coin. It didn't stop me from mining it though because it would be so easy to just up the 10x 100x multipliers and fix the problem.

We've got a growing subreddit with a tipbot and were starting to drum up interest, but this issue will eventually drive away the miners who know what they're doing.

I think its time to fix it.

A few more thoughts...

If we wait until this coin becomes unprofitable to mine, we will lose all of the momentum that we have built.

[Edit: This coin is ALREADY unprofitable to mine. People are only mining it because they think the future scarcity will send it to the moon, but it won't. It's going to be TOO SCARCE and the network will just die.]

Changing the minimum block reward would give this coin VALUE BY DEFAULT, even without popularity, it will have value. If we were on coinchoose and/or coinwarz and it's profitable to mine, MINERS WILL MINE they wont give a fuck what it is.

Cryptsy/coinchoose/coinwarz will probably not be interested in picking up topcoin because it will most likely die if left as is. Cryptsy does not have the extra resources to gamble right now and despite popular opinion, they're not retarded.

Do I dare setup a pool for this?

I have a feeling this one's going to get DDoS'ed in the ground too. No pain, no gain though...

But yes, dare
