21  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Interest Check/WTS Cardsmiths Currency Meta Rare 1/1 on: August 31, 2022, 08:43:59 PM
Fair market value, whatever that is...

I would assume a 1/1 would need to be auctioned to find out what it’s worth since these cards are so new…

But like what MJ said, might be better for you to hodl for now. Great looking card Smiley

I think an interesting topic they could cover is the holo-makers and where they are located; and if these makers could pose a possible security threat to making duplicates under the table.

Has anyone heard of a coin makers holograms being duplicated in an effort to sell “funded” coins that weren’t really funded?

Hey Jupityr, is there any update as to if PSA will accept submissions of these cards for grading?

Love this project btw, good work Smiley

Speaking of tx count, it is nice to see it growing, apparently "organically", over the course of months and months, however, at current fee rates there is only about $500 worth of XMR paid out to miners each day in fees. I think after the upcoming hardfork that number should increase by a factor of 10x (?), so it will be interesting to see if tx growth continues to build (imo indicating real organic usage) or if it falls off (which may indicate someone was paying the fees to spam the chain either for chain analysis reasons or to simulate organic usage and pump price).

Wait, what happens with the hardfork and mining fees again?

Our beloved crazy bull Americanpgasus (katiecharms) has made a dire prediction.  I hope (s)he is wrong, of course.  But there is no doubt we are at a very interesting threshold in the market overall...

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/uv6f5v/crypto_has_never_existed_through_a_global/

I personally think if the world macro environment is indeed imploding, that although "crypto" stands to lose violently, I would not be surprised if Bitcoin does better than the average of assets at worst going down less than most other things.  And I think Monero could be a stand out in the rubble as well... but possibly to a lesser extent than BTC.

Fact is value will flee to places.  Gold, land, and to some extent Bitcoin.  Andaltcoin value ought to go away like a fire, I am afraid.

On the other hand Bitcoin (and therefor Monero) might see a rise because of the above...  hard to say.

Beloved?

Fuck that bitch manipulator.

It's apparently looking for a reentry it can pump and dump as is its modus operandi.

I get a kick out of herm.  But I take your point.  He was always full of shit, and it's sad he made so much money then she blew it all...  I honestly think this latest thing being posted is wrong.  It's a coinflip at the moment.

What he's saying is somewhat true tho.  The market has been in pvp mode since late last year with the last pump from around July to November mostly absent of any retail money coming in.  It could be the reason why BTC was unable to move way past its April, 2021 all time high.  My guess is the April - May sell down broke a lot of people and they could be not coming back to crypto in a little while.  It's funny but sad at the same time.  Now we got high inflation, high gas prices and all that shit.  Who would be thinking about crypto rn?  It's just us in goblin town...  Again.  :/

I would think that because of high inflation, more people would run towards blue chip cryptos, PMs and the like.

I mean sure, I definitely agree that there will be a non trivial amount of people that will run away from crypto for now, but I think those type of people are probably those that have bored apes in their wallets rather than blue chips Tongue

Honestly without AP and his overtly grandiose posts on here and on /r/Monero, I probably wouldn’t have stayed around and learned more about XMR (and Bitcoin for that matter) back in 2015. Whether you like her or not now, she has a way of thinking outside the ‘norm’ and is fun to read her posts. Would be happy to see her share her views on this thread again like the good ole days. 31  Economy / Collectibles / Which collectible creator is responsible for 'locking up' the most crypto? on: May 17, 2022, 10:19:31 PM
So this was a little thought that has been going through my mind today and figured it appropriate to give it it's own thread...

I understand there is a lot of different ways to interpret the question, but when I think about it, it sort of boils down to three main categories:

1) Which creator has 'locked up'/secured the most Bitcoin on physical collectibles?

2) Which creator has 'locked up'/secured the most crypto on physical collectibles?  Meaning 1 unit of crypto = any other unit of crypto.  1 Bitcoin = 1 Dogecoin, etc.

3) Which creator has 'locked up'/secure the most wealth on physical collectibles?  Meaning the total fiat value of collectibles across the board.

...

I would imagine Mike has 1 & 3 in the bag, but when thinking about just how many other creators continued making coins past 2013, I figured someone like smoothie might be in the running for those.

And in regards to 2, well that's the main part I'm really interested in when you consider someone like CryptoImperator who made the 1 million dogecoin coins.

Thoughts?

34  Economy / Goods / [WTS] 'Ollandoc' Guitar on: April 28, 2022, 05:31:54 PM
Selling my Ollandoc guitar I bought back in 2014 since I don't play this one much anymore.  This is a Languedoc clone guitar made by Robert M Olson (used to have his own website, but it's offline now and mainly does business off his Facebook page).  You can research reviews on these guitars, but this video is probably the best one I've seen showing you how it sounds:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNX1QLZP-2A&t=391s

It's been a while since I've done business with him, and the old email I used to talk to him through has been hacked so I can't go back and find out the exact specs of this guitar... however I'm pretty sure these are the specs:

- Solid Maple top, back and sides
- Partially hollow body, (not braced like a traditional jazz guitar)
- 24 frets
- 25.5 scale neck
- 14 inch radius ebony fret board
- Seymour Duncan 59 humbucking pickups
- One Volume knob, One Tone knob
- Parallel/Split/Series mini-switches for each pickup

There's some minor dings on the pickups.  These photos are a bit old, but essentially the guitar looks the same... just let me know if you'd like any more up to date photos (and specifically of what).  Professionally set up by a luthier when I first received it and still plays very nicely.

Asking $1350 in BTC or XMR (shipping not included - depends where you are located).  Available for pickup if you happen to be around the DC Metro area.  Let me know if you have any questions! Smiley

I remember how downcast so many were even 4 years ago...

After the 2017 bull, and brief altseason we have all been crushed so badly.  It is understandable that many lost hope.  After all, most alts are absolute garbage.  Most have deserved the 90+% losses, and the ones that have remained closer to the top have NOT deserved to be there.  The only caveat is their demise might bring some pain to all the alts... even the ... well fuck it. I honestly think there is only one that deserves attention.

That said 290-330 is the last stand of the shitcoin levels.  If it can take all that?  Well.  It's just open skies above that, I think.  And I do not think it has to stay under it's XMR/BTC ath either.  I see it having a good chance of attacking as far as .09 BTC if not the whole .1

Historically .0082 should be the next major hurdle.

I’ve always thought about it this way. With what Monero does there is no reason for Monero to be worth less than 1% of Bitcoins worth. These prices haven’t made sense for a long time, so all the hurdles we see below 0.01 is arbitrary.

But also there have been a few accounts, and one in particular that just went off the deep end acting like absolute assholes. Personally I was a bit offended when after letting the board know I had just tested positive for covid this asshole started going on about how stupid we are to believe it was real more or less.  I don;t have very much bandwidth for people who cannot have a little nuance.  I am actually in the camp that thinks we severely over-reacted to covid, and that the vaccines were at best duds.  But I have compassion for folks going through it.  I know people who have died from it, and anyway... yeah mainly one asshole.

To have your belief, whether right or wrong, make you act like a dick to another human for believing something else is just dumb. People are entitled to their own beliefs. Sorry, those people sound like the worst lol.

Just out of curiosity, is there any way we could have 'Chartbuddy' that the Wall Observer thread has?  Or would that be considered spam?  Think it would be an interesting addition to this thread over time.

Bitfinex

Explanation

Explanation
Chartbuddy provides a chart which shows the change of the market depth with time.

Chart shows the market depth for the last hour, the beginning of the hour at the back, latest time at the front. The bids (what people are willing to pay) stack up on the left and the asks (what people are wanting to get paid) stack up on the right.

A depth chart indicates how much it would conceivably take to shift the price. Note that orders can be cancelled so judgement should be applied. Large orders produce a large vertical part on the chart or a "wall". By watching how walls are added, moved or removed, it is possible to make a judgement of market sentiment (or arguably just observe attempts at market manipulation).

The large numbers at the top are the latest values for the closest bids and asks. The difference between these is the "spread".

World times are also listed for several major cities.

Will this organic groundswell continue?  It looks like it could!

Looks like it

^^ On top of all the narrative talk, has Monero ever trended on twitter?  I don't think we have, and could you imagine the sort of interest that could follow?  Doesn't seem too hard for random cryptos now and days to 'trend' if they start acting real bullish.  I think then you will start seeing a lot more people diving in to the whole #monerun narrative.

Let's not forget Jack Dorsey follows Monero advocate @Sethforprivacy.

Want to change USDT to XMR. Is https://godex.io/ a good solution for that? Does anyone have any experience with this service? I didn't see any information regarding kyc on their homepage.

Best bet imo is changenow.io ... they do a pretty good job and will only flag your account/need you to go through kyc hoops if you send them tainted/suspicious coins.  Even then, they will refund you if you don't want to go through with all of it.

Either that or see what's available on localmonero.co Smiley
