at that point why would a buyer even bother when they can get it with fiat within just a few minutes instead of hours or days from escrow?

If the person rating had to pay a massive fine to the community for getting it wrong things might be different imo.

Seriously? You expect somebody who offer a free service to be fined if something goes wrong?

LOL yeah, things would be surely different. No-fucking-body would even risk to rate anyone else without getting paid enough.

Uhhhh yeah, that regularly happens in the real world when people give "financial advice" paid or not.  Criminal negligence is still a legal liability.

You have any examples?

USA: http://www.turnaround.org/Publications/Articles.aspx?objectID=2661
USA #2: http://manchester.patch.com/articles/glastonbury-financial-advisor-in-lawsuit-involving-former-mayor-found-liable-for-1-45-million
UK: http://www.chaselaw.co.uk/financial_advisers.html
NZ: http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/7498595/Adviser-liable-for-investors-Bridgecorp-loss

So it's not uncommon, nor is it just a USA thing.  There are real-world repercussions for dishing out negligent advice.

Pharmaceuticals are nothing more than treatments.  I prefer to cure my sickness at the source, my soul.

I assume you won't be using any antibiotics, analgesics or anaesthetics throughout your life then.  Good luck with that.  Your statement reeks of First World privilege.  But hey, lets not worry about trying to get modern medicine to those millions of people in developing countries for whom you feel so much empathy - let's teach them how to mend their souls instead just like countless generations of missionaries have done for hundreds of years.  Roll Eyes

You do realize that you're talking about a compulsive liar who thinks he can out-do Woodstock with zero knowledge, experience, or connections.  How he's managed to escape the scammer tag after breaking numerous promised deals is baffling.
25  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: Nefario. on: October 18, 2012, 05:38:45 PM
Keep in mind everyone was like oh yeah Nefario can delist any asset at anytime when he delsited mine... Now he just did the other 90% and people are like scammer, oh lol why?

Its okay to delist me but no one else? Lulz...

Seems to me like the scammer tag does nothing other than placate the masses into doing nothing about the scam.

But regarding the old platform. I dont think that he could have give out the code and he is out. Because its an unofficial thing. Even when he sells the code he still would be held responsible as the owner because he would had a hard time to explain that something illegal, that doesnt exist officially, has been sold and the new owner isnt known. That would look like he deleted his traces and run it now even more anonymous. He could only be out of it when he could sell it officially. But no one would do this when this is really illegal. Or would some indian do it maybe?

I only say i dont think it would be so easy for nef to get out of this.

I'd bet that's exactly what his lawyer told him, too.

psychological testing.

CLOSED FOR NON-INTEREST

C'mon Atlas. Give the inmates a break. They were sentenced to jail time, not to "Listen to Atlas 8hrs a day".
That punishment is reserved for bitcointalk.org users lol

Ouch.

Most people if they learn will only learn the hard way.

Most people yes. . . this community wants to be scammed over and over and over and over and over

Pretty much.

And Theymos?  At the level he was involved

And at what level exactly was Theymos involved? And involved with what, exactly?

Significant ownership of a private partnership company, where liability is shared amongst the owners.

The economy is really bad. Really bad. There are literally no startups hiring near my area. Little to no small business is openly hiring.

So, my choices have been Wal-Mart (tried it, sucked, people are now walking out with good reason), another large grocery chain and the public sector. I've already decided retail isn't for me. So, I'm left with mostly public sector jobs. I have to wait a few more years to become a police officer. There is a job cleaning up shit at the animal shelter... ooh, security grunt and admission jobs at the local jail. You have to deal with inmates all day but the pay is great.

So, yeah, I am going to try to get a job dealing with society's rejected, violent and other non-conformists with a greater chance of being killed than I would in a typical job. I like it.

Let's see what happens. Anyone here ever worked corrections before?

just quoting this before Atlas decides to CLOSE FOR NON-INTEREST

If you bothered to read the OP, you'll see that those ratings are months old.  Enron had a good rating, until they crashed and burned.

It's your duty as a rating agency to rate REAL risk, and you've clearly failed in doing so.
33  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Dank on: October 13, 2012, 06:34:46 PM
So why doesn't dank have a scammer tag yet? It's clear to any reasonable person that dank did not fulfill his end of the deal and misrepresented the product that was delivered.
34  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Who Pays What? on: October 12, 2012, 08:13:00 AM

So have you submitted a custom beat to 420 yet or is that yet another thing you couldn't be assed doing despite saying that you would?

Nope. He's scammed yet another user.
37  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer tag: Nefario. on: October 12, 2012, 08:02:52 AM
This is bitcointalk.  You only get a scammer tag weeks after you've already run with the money and are never coming back.

Also, moderators were in on Nefario's scam, so you can bet that he'll never get hit with a scammer tag.  This place is great proof that even in a "Free Market", the corrupt will rise to the top and use their power to benefit themselves at the cost of the health of the community.

Yep.  Hell, bitcointalk.org is run by MtGox even after both MtGox and Bitcointalk were both "hacked."  For all the users complaining about "regulatory capture" in the fiat world, why isn't anyone raising a flag over the simple fact that "MtGox == Bitcoin."
38  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is pirate considered a scammer by Bitcoin community*? Poll:vote/view results on: October 12, 2012, 07:55:25 AM
Bump, because I still haven't heard any actual movement re: Pirate

Everybody has forgotten about pirate, now we are talking about the GLBSE fiasco.

Everyone is so focused on his collateral damage, they forgot about him.

Sigh.

40  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 09, 2012, 10:45:01 PM
At this point, Nefario should make a public statement on the status or start paying out deposit funds REGARDLESS if CHM or Theymos sent him what looks to be 9% of the total funds on deposit.

He could try and play that game with Goat but this is too far.  If this doesn't happen very soon then we should conclude that either he is keeping them or they have been seized.

I know people are upset and don't like this answer but in the end, we need to root out all the scammy activities in Bitcoin and this forum if we want to move forward and create an environment where real business interests can prosper.

Nefario also has no reason to not be sending "claim codes" to the asset issuers.  This does not require any bitcoin funds (operational or user) to achieve.  If they are not received in the next few days I am going to assume he has deleting the information.

With the utter silence since the Goat delisting, it is anyone's best guest.  I tried to point out how odd the manner of the Goat delisting was and how at that point you should really think about what it means.  Using language like he was the only "liability" on his exchange was quite telling in my opinion.  That is why I directly tried to have him address these comments.

Yes, there's plenty of evidence all over the forums from which to make an educated guess.  I wouldn't even blink twice over somebody telling me that one of Goat's victims went to the feds and implicated GLBSE in the process.
