The economy is really bad. Really bad. There are literally no startups hiring near my area. Little to no small business is openly hiring.
So, my choices have been Wal-Mart (tried it, sucked, people are now walking out with good reason), another large grocery chain and the public sector. I've already decided retail isn't for me. So, I'm left with mostly public sector jobs. I have to wait a few more years to become a police officer. There is a job cleaning up shit at the animal shelter... ooh, security grunt and admission jobs at the local jail. You have to deal with inmates all day but the pay is great.
So, yeah, I am going to try to get a job dealing with society's rejected, violent and other non-conformists with a greater chance of being killed than I would in a typical job. I like it.
Let's see what happens. Anyone here ever worked corrections before?

have you ever thought that perhaps having a job isn't for you? there are so many biz ops around even just in bitcoin. granted it helps if you already know how to do a little programming.

Are you open to moving? where I live the economy is booming..... We have tons of jobs on the base. You might have to pee in a cup and get a background check but you would have to do that anyways for a jailer job.

One of our fellow bitcoiners is planning on being a rock star by the end of the year. If you don't mind being on the road away from the comforts of home, perhaps you could be his #1 (roadie).

It's a shame there's nothing that could be done on the internet to earn a living, therefore people could stay home and work, thus not having to commute to some city or town tens of miles away to earn their bread and butter so come Friday they can go to Walmart and purchase bread and butter. If only there were an internet foundation thingy to bring this brainfart of mine to fruition, then people like Atlas wouldn't be in this rat trap any longer. ~Bruno~

What is this commute thing you speak of? I got a good paying job and moved close to it. Right by where I work is a high school, I can hear the marching band playing from home even when all my windows are closed.

I love this. Atlas as an enforcer for the very thing he hates most.
I have a feeling Atlas could make far more money breaking rules than the salary given to enforce them. Atlas could be paid by the government to do exactly what they're trying to stop. - But then Atlas would probably take it too far and start distributing knives should a prisoner's natural rights be violated by the Oppressors. The power'd go to his head, he'd be corrupted, and he'd only arm the "Individuals' Voluntary Union for Liberation of Unjustly Imprisoned Ubermensch, Wayward Correctional Facility Branch." The IVULUIUWCFB then turns into a "libertarian mafia," where dues are collected, and unaffiliated inmates are assuredly given their right to "Choose," as demonstrated by their choice to convert to Randianism or have their throats cut open. Eventually, the criminally insane voluntary union of libertarian liberators would free themselves of undue oppressive shackles (temporarily) by violently taking over the prison and raping, then murdering any guard which did not submit to Atlas' rule. Within three hours, special forces teams were assembled, and Atlas was soon-after captured. Atlas and affiliated individuals are re-tried and re-imprisoned, despite Atlas & Associates' best effort to convince the jury that they were only trying to reclaim the natural rights taken away by aggressors. Atlas, in an autobiography, would go on to write how wonderful it was to be around like-minded individuals who stood up against The State, a sentiment he was apparently alone in. Labeled "The Aural Rapist" by fellow in-mates, Atlas's warden and superiors soon became a center of controversy upon scraping all flesh off Atlas' bones with a grapefruit spoon after unsuccessfully petitioning for Atlas to be relocated.
