21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: June 28, 2017, 06:16:05 PM
zcash seems on the verge of breakout over $300 that should get it into $400s over next week or so.
Waiting & watching.

That is right. If it does break $300-320, 400 is the next target.

The price is already £360. I think $400 will be in a few weeks.

It is quite possible if many ZCash is actively developed.

That could be the reason the ZEC price is still higher than ETH.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: June 18, 2017, 04:44:35 PM
It can be a good investment because it has a lot of uses but I'm not too certain because it can very well be that it's extremely overpriced right now. But that's all speculation for now.

I think the ETH is not so over priced. It has many users.
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: May 25, 2017, 07:02:51 AM
As long as Ethereum is in continuous development and become more useful in the future, it is a good coin.
but the bubble is so big.when the price down, you may not think so
we need to thought about the risk

As long as it is used by many people, there is no bubble.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: May 15, 2017, 05:43:05 AM
Ethereum is a good investment in altcoins, because the price of this ethereum, were probably stable in the market. That's why I'm surely assure that their value in the market were raised up sooner or later.

The Ethereum price is quite stable now. It seems it is consolidating and will rise later.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: April 30, 2017, 05:56:15 PM
Isnt zcash overvalued coin or i am wrong here  Huh

If the price keeps on rising, then it is not overvalued.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: April 13, 2017, 05:06:47 PM
Perhaps we head back to under 1 dollar target now

I doubt it will fall that long. I think it may keep failing for the time being because being at around 67-70% of hashrate has lost his shock value. Coinbase news also are already priced in it seems since i see no reaction. We need something new. Next push will be 75% segwit reached I guess. Until then it's anybody's guess how low it will go.
Market will always be irrational longer than you will remain solvent. It will go lower than most ppl think if this is a true bull otherwise i think its a bearish pnd

In the short term, the litecoin price could rise.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: March 29, 2017, 01:51:36 PM
It is going down for now
The price had a good rally in the past few days and it will consolidate after a rapid rise and if you look at the charts it is really double the value compared to last week and so it is not a big surprise that we are seeing a slide, but when i last checked the price is still in green ,but i am not sure about the 0.2btc valuation.I think that is too hyped up for a pre mine coin.

That is right. It is consolidating around 0.05 to 0.07 now.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: March 24, 2017, 05:13:58 PM
Almost 0.04 btc now, the price now is quite overvalued, all the altcoins pump alongside with Dash,XMR and ETH, also ZEC pumps too.

If the price rises further, it is not overvalued now.

The market cap is quite large now, may be in top 10 coins very soon, Zcash will donate 20% of mined coins to the team, don't forget the sudden dumps.

It will be top 10 in a few month even if the price does not rise. The new zcash are increasing a lot

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/

It is already number 9 in the currency list.

It seems the trend is up.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: March 05, 2017, 03:37:07 PM
ETH is the best coin in my portfolio. It will bring me around 1200% profit if I will sell my holdings now.
i wonder why you still not selling your bitcoin if you have potential to get 1200% profit because those profit was pretty good and there is no guarantee holding more longer will increase your current profit especially altcoins price is so unpredictable

ETH is into business since long time so I don't think it can disappear in short time but if its giving you good profits at present then its better to sell them and grab the opportunity of making profits as you said the price of altcoins is unpredictable and anything is possible with it so in that case holding them too long can be risky as price may go down dramatically in coming months.

Mining ETH is good profit. The hash rate has increased a lot in the past 6 months.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: January 05, 2017, 09:28:35 AM
Lol everyone likes to say this coins dead and that coins dead. Meanwhile they dont really know what they talking about.
What is the point ? What is your motive to say things like this ? Obviously its not dead and far from.

dead from a miner sense....ltc to btc was as low as 0.00380 or some such ..now it is at 0.00407...its like no one sent LTC
the memo that the other alts got Sad

maybe LTC in its 'hitched' to BTC price etc when BTC was sideways was acting like bonds...a 'safe haven' with BTC price iffy
and the speculation use it has.

But maybe with all the miners hitting pow scrypt (big miners mine daily and cash out for tax/accounting purposes) all just cashing
out ltc to btc on the rise...well hell ...maybe I should just be glad the  ratio is kinda going sideways and not down more...

Anyway acting like a Savings bond ..in consumer purchasing ....like the currenty wall street rise to 20k...ie ...ignored sitting by
itself on the sidewalk.

(I'm using shapeshift.io LTC to BTC xfer rate for the 0.00407 ratio figure.....)

But generally confused on all crypto now (monero and dash pump...btc pump.....current transaction time moving btc to coinbase more then 2 hrs still unconfirmed...(yeah
did the usual standard fee so this should not have been an issue) ..ltc acting all bi-polar and weird.....

sheesh...fun times Smiley

But getting tired from the Mining point of view of LTC acting like a maiden aunt who lives in the attic...can't get rid of her..same with LTC  or my scrypt machines...

stuck pondering an looking at navel. Sad

LMFAO man that's a good one, Aunty who always knows best even though how wrong she might be at times Cheesy

its just weird ..it is almost again like LTC is acting like some kinda safe haven if BTC tanks or goes sideways..My bet is that LTC will come back up to 0.005 or hopefully 0.006
ltc to btc ratio wise (ie 5 and 6 buck ltc) when/if BTC finds a floor in price...IF BTC evens out say at a floor of 1100 usd...and given a couple weeks...if LTC is acting like
that kinda hedge.then maybe not such a big deal

If I'm wrong it will really tank on sideways and I will have to re-think my schedule on moving LTC to BTC how much and when Sad

Is that because nobody is pumping it?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: December 30, 2016, 08:37:18 AM
what are legitimate concerns about Ether

Total coin supply is unknown
Will PoS actually work?
They hard-forked and re-wrote history on the blockchain causing a split
So many ICOs have milked the community...will they dump and drive price down?
ETH has not made a single useful DAPP to date
Lots of attack surfaces and they have had non-stop issues for the last 6+ months needing forks and patches etc..

I heard bank santander is using the Ethereum block chain.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/devcon2-santander-ethercamp-building-bridges-between-bank-accounts-ethereum-1582242

Spanish banking giant Santander is making a bold move in the direction of Ethereum by creating a way to tie bank accounts and fiat currency to tokens on the Turing complete blockchain system.

Demonstrating this innovation was the bank's partner within the Ethereum community, EtherCamp, which has been building out the Ethereum Javascript environment for past couple of years, among other things.

Why advertise with us
The first use case of the Santander/EtherCamp CashEth project is micropayments, so leveraging the agility of the Ethereum blockchain to pay tiny amounts to read newspaper articles with zero fees, recorded on the blockchain.

Roman Mandeleil lead developer of EtherCamp told IBTimes UK: "It's a way of using a Santander bank account to convert fiat currency into tokens to be used on Ethereum."

Mandeleil showed how a Santander bank account will provide a button which creates an Ethereum account. "In this bank account you are going to have a parallel Ethereum account on Ethereum network. So Santander is going to know about this so it is going to be tied.

"It gives them a very nice way to do features. One of those is going to be to take dollars, put them in frozen account, and give you an amount of tokens that is backed by this reserve.

"So it's not a gold reserve but it's a dollar reserve. So you are going to upload these tokens into the blockchain and you are going to have the stability of real dollars or euros. And you are going to have the agility of Ethereum blockchain," he said.

Anything that comes close to connecting public blockchains with banks is going to face a ton of regulation. Mandeleil explained that Santander had been working with his team for nine months looking at things like regulation.

"Their legal staff was like – this is going to be difficult. But they got excited and actually start to work with the regulators. They are going to start in one country and you are going to see the system live. There are questions for regulators and we solved some of them, not all of them."

Mandeleil said Santander has been opening all the APIs in the bank for his team to ensure regulatory compliance. "It's not easy; it involves IT guys inside banks. They have given us these kind of bridges. We cannot say which country this will be rolled out in. Banco Santander started in Spain but it's much bigger. They have several options.

In terms of timing, Mandeleil said he wants to see it live next year, adding that he is flying to Madrid after DevCon to continue working with Santander. "We were talking about months but with banks it is difficult," he said.

The next step is to open an API for the system, for developers. "Because we don't want to develop all the features, we want them to develop whatever they want."

He added: "I'm a libertarian guy but I see that we really need this. The movement of blockchains is going one way and banks are also moving towards blockchain - these movements are going to meet somewhere. We are working on both because built Ethereum infrastructure and now we are working with banks."

Santander, which is sponsoring DevCon2, is establishing itself as one of the foremost innovators across all areas of blockchain. The bank has been a long time champion of Ripple and the ways it can connect interbank payments across borders.

The CashEth project is being overseen by Julio Faura, head of R&D at the bank and John Whelan director of Santander's Blockchain Lab, so something of a seasoned blockchain team.

More recently, Santander joined UBS as a backer of London-based Clearmatics (which creates a clearing system based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine) and the Utility Settlement Coin project, which is bringing central bank cash a step closer to blockchain.

Faura told IBTimes: "Of course there are regulatory issues, not linked to Ethereum per se, but linked to the idea of using a distributed ledger as a store of record for segregation of accounts, that is one topic. And also about privacy and so on. So these are things that we are working to solve with compliance people."

Faura clarified this has nothing to do with linking bank accounts to a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. He said it was tokens backed by a Santender bank account. "This could be the bank or it could be some other kind of licence and the idea is this entity would back, would be guaranteeing if you want, those tokens by having a deposit at the bank level.

"There are other approaches. You know that we are present in the Settlement Coin project. It is similar but more serious; it's more up-scale in the sense it is intended to work as a pseudo-central bank. The deposits will be in central bank accounts.

"Here, we are just talking about regular bank account. We are talking about micropayments, small scale. Settlement coin is to settle trades between financial institutions and bigger amounts of money."

So Santander seems to be pivoting in the direction of Ethereum, one way or another. Faura, who holds a PhD in computer science and likes building smart contracts on Ethereum, said: "I think Ethereum is very interesting. It's a very well run project and the possibilities are bigger. Block times, for example, help in many of these projects we want to innovate on. It would be unfeasible if we did it on top of Bitcoin blockchain."

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 27, 2016, 06:36:39 PM
The picture could be real but its very easy to adjust your memory timings and get speeds like that, however it will produce mostly rejected shares.

For the AMD R89 390, with the 1500 MHz, the limiting factor is already the core speed. So adjusting the memory does not help.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: November 12, 2016, 12:59:09 PM
I think the price will soon hit 0.02btc, What makes it more special than Monero? who is using Zcash in real world and not for speculative purpose. Time will tell

The price is 0.021 now. It shall drop further as there are more supply of ZCash will appear in the near future.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: November 04, 2016, 07:50:46 AM
The price of ethereum right now are drop but i think this is a good time to buy ethereum since its low price and i think the price will 14 usd back again soon or after the price of bitcoin rising..

The Ethereum dollar price has been stable for a few months already. The bitcoin price dropped a bit recently.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: October 18, 2016, 07:55:42 AM
I'd stay away from it. I personally prefer Monero and Bitcoin. I don't have much to say about Monero but Bitcoin will be the one I'll trust forever. Don't trust any other alts, you never know when you can get scammed. Just saying.

It forks all the time.

https://blog.ethereum.org/2016/10/13/announcement-imminent-hard-fork-eip150-gas-cost-changes/

During the last couple of weeks, the Ethereum network has been the target of a sustained attack. The attacker(s) have been very crafty in locating vulnerabilities in the client implementations as well as the protocol specification.

While the recent patches have led to an overall increased resiliency in the client implementations, the attacks have also demonstrated that a lower-level change to the EVM pricing model is needed.

For many users, the most visible consequence is probably that they are having difficulties getting transactions included in blocks, and full nodes are facing memory limitations in managing the bloated state.

This is our strategy to address these issues:

As a temporary measure to minimize the effects of the most recent attack, we recommend all miners to lower the gaslimit to 500K gas.
A hard-fork based on EIP 150 version 1c will be put into effect at block 2457000 [see below]. This will reprice certain operations to correspond better to the underlying computational complexity.
A second hard-fork will follow shortly after, aimed at reverting the current “state-bloat” introduced by the attacks. This second fork will serve to remove accounts which are empty; lacking code, balance, storage and nonce == 0.
We have implemented the changes required in the clients and are currently extending and adding tests in an effort to prevent the introduction of consensus-breaking vulnerabilities.

And as a reminder, the Ethereum Bug Bounty is open and includes the new hardfork-implementations.

EDIT: Fork block has been moved to 2463000 in order to accommodate even more testing.

yeah, litecoin is dead from a long time . it is a very bad news for me and also for other litecoin holder bitcoiners who are looking to increase price and get some profit .

It is not dead. It is just in dormant. Its mining is just controlled by very few miners. If it is GPU mining, it will be much better.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: September 12, 2016, 06:08:25 PM
what can litecoin offer than bitcoin cant?

That is a good question. litecoin is a pure clone of bitcoin apart from the block time, which is 4 times faster.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: August 27, 2016, 04:24:34 PM
They are funded for years, so they won't have to sell any of the foundation's ethereum. They could sell their personal stash but that's not related to foundation's money. I can feel you're starting to regret buying ETC as you can see it slowly being dumped.
though still i think that ethereum is not a bad currency, however i have to agree that its price is going to be dumped over time

The Ethereum Devcon2 will be held. So the price might go higher.

Ethereum Devcon2 Conference Welcomes Santander As Gold Sponsor

I reckon the Ethereum price will rise a lot near the meeting. This meeting is in China. It will attract rich guys.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: August 16, 2016, 07:30:50 AM
give it  a rest.

both can survive in this world,

eth forked pissed off a lot of people, face it.

etc is the original blockchain, truth

now lets watch this play out and remember that bitcointalk is full of shitty, greedy people that would sell their mothers to gain status

peace

ETC could survive as a mineable coin, like many small altcoins. But not many big business will support it.

If it is not supported by business, it will be like many other scam coins. It will be dead very soon. So it is a pump and dump coin now.

The price of the ETC has not risen in the last few days. And the volume is also decreasing. Does it mean people are losing interest?
Honestly there is no interesting in that coin its just 2.0 of ETH but eth still remain in the second in bitcoin in the top 100 places..
Also some etc i think are converting back again in ethereum,..
eth is not going to be second for long, etc is going to be way stronger and its price is going to grow at a very rapid pace, im holding etc

When the Ethereum Foundation dumps the ETC, the price will be much lower. It is just a pump and dump coin.

That could be right. But we will not know the final answer for some time. Maybe we will know that after a few months.

The intention of the Ethreum Foundation is not clear now. It might sell some ETC to cover the development of Ethereum.

The Ethereum Classic hash rate is quite low at the moment. If you have higher hash rate, can you transfer the stolen Eth into your own account?
