21  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall (Translators wanted) on: January 11, 2013, 09:49:44 PM
Yes, imposing fees for listing would discourage alot of first timers and general long-time sellers like myself as well.  Bitmit is still in its infancy and needs any new interest it can get -- i.e. volume, volume, volume.  Plus, some sellers will likely just pass the extra cost to the buyers, further discouraging the use of the site.

I like the suggestion for paying for additional and extra advertising/promotion or to charge extra to upload more than, for example, 3 photos of the item.  These items can be prioritized higher for search results or showcased within a category.  I've seen a similar site do this quite successfully.  Bitcoin is still unknown to the mainstream public and extra standard fees would be a Bitmit killer.

What I like about Bitmit:
- Relative anonymity.
- Fair costs.
- The escrow system.
- Willingness to listen to issues and suggestions for improvements.
- Seller ratings.
- Built up an element of trust for bitcoin users.
- It's the only one such site out there for the bitcoin community.

Amazon.com buyers can also find physical gift cards for purchase on Bitmit.  Walmart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot gift cards are available as well as Regal Cinema Super Saver tickets.  They are all great ways of spending bitcoins anonymously and are an alternative to Amazon.  Some folks want the convenience of purchasing goods physically at the stores instead of always online.  You can check them out here:

Cheers.

I think Bitmit should advertise its services or market its name alot more.  Word of mouth is good but at this point in time, it's slow.
27  Economy / Goods / Re: Spend Bitcoins - Buy and Sell Bitcoins in Australia on: October 17, 2012, 07:16:58 PM
I sell Walmart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot physical gift cards and Amazon.com claim codes via Bitmit for the US market.  I use Bitmit to handle the escrow and it has a good feedback feature.  Physical gift cards are a great way of spending bitcoins anonymously.  They are an alternative to Amazon claim codes for those who do not wish to wait or want their purchases sent to their mailing address.  Gift cards/e-cards are still the next best thing next to cash.   You can check them out here:

http://www.bitmit.net/en/user/heavysteel

If you need more quantities than listed, please let me know by sending a message on Bitmit and I will gladly add more.  Any item sold is immediately replenished until I run out of inventory.

Cheers.
28  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: decentralization needed on the spend side: SpendBitcoins competitors, step on up on: October 17, 2012, 12:17:40 AM
I have a significant inventory of Walmart and Target gift cards and Amazon.com claim codes for the US market via Bitmit.  They are available on an on-going basis EXCEPT between mid-Nov and mid-Dec 2012 for the physical gift cards due to personal reasons.  They are replenished when sold, especially the $500 gift cards -- I have the most of these.  Check them out here:

Cheers.

Nice site- what steps have you gone to help people trust you?

I send physical items certified mail in the US -- both confirmation of delivery and returned signed green postcard.  This protects both parties.  I believe this shows the buyers that the seller doesn't want to get screwed either.

For first time buyers, I send each gift card separately so I do not inadvertently forget to include one in the envelope or an untrustworthy buyer claims they didn't get all the cards.  Moreover, certified mail helps protect both buyer and seller from the post office!  Case in point:  I sent two certified items to a buyer and he only got one.  He is an example of a highly trusted and honest buyer because he released the bitcoins from escrow before receiving the 2nd card.  Anyway, I had to file a case to the USPS and the item was delivered next day after being overdue for three.  The next time I went to the same post office to deliver a gift card, a worker I've never seen before was exercising a deep tissue massage with my letter in a nervous manner.  I packed it much better this time to help disguise there was a card inside.  He asked me if it was only documents.  I said yes but was perplexed.  Usually they ask the standard question if there are any hazardous materials, fragile items, etc.  After pasting the green postcard on the letter, he goes into a second round of massaging the entire letter again!

There are stories on the internet with postal workers stealing gift cards from envelopes.  In general, postal workers can be trusted 100%.  It's the few bad apples that spoil the bunch.  These bad apples are looking for holiday and birthday cards as well because they often contain gift cards.  And when I bought a Walmart gift card, a cashier warned me never to send them by mail.  She had hers stolen.
30  Economy / Goods / Re: Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 13, 2012, 03:47:31 PM
One can say I am providing that liquidity on the Amazon side.  Most folks here would rather keep their bitcoins than depart them for Amazon.  So they can wait for a "steal of the day" offer and demand a discount.  If I need to dump my Amazon inventory very quickly, it's good to know I can sell them below face value here.  So I appreciate the info and examples provided.  It's been educational.

I am primarily getting the word out that if anyone needs a means to spend a significant amount of bitcoins (e.g. $500) now and can't wait for a "steal of the day" offer, they can get an excellent deal any time from me.  Amazon and gift cards are an awesome way of doing so anonymously, especially with physical gift cards like Walmart and Target.  Physical gift cards are another alternative to Amazon.  I'm sure there are folks out there who rather purchase items directly at the stores rather than through the mail.  These types of customers are willing to pay for another means of anonymity with the convenience that Bitmit offers to buy them.  Walmart/Target cards are the next best thing to cash.  I believe customs officials consider gift cards as cash when traveling between countries.  I'm also only selling to break even on Bitmit because I've already paid alot to get my inventory.  So effectively, I am selling below cost already.

31  Economy / Goods / Re: Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 13, 2012, 03:42:55 AM
I've bought well over $1000 in Amazon codes for 80-90%. I wouldn't have said anything, because you are free to charge what you want, but since you are asking for testimony.

Heres a guy selling at 80% face value right now.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=93949.0

and back before Bitinstant, selling amazon codes at around 90% was how I got my $ into BTC. There are dedicated sites, that sell Amazon codes at face value, but you are paying the extra premium for the added security that they aren't going to run off with your money.

Yes, that is an awesome deal.  Congrats!

Any examples for Amazon codes with a value >=$100 selling for less?

Here are a couple of sites selling them at higher prices:

34  Economy / Goods / Re: Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 12, 2012, 01:53:36 PM
Cool.  I welcome more real-life examples.

I think alot depends on the target buyer and the circumstance of the seller.  There's a seller here paying buyers to buy his bitcoins by offering them 1% below market value with a $500 min order.  And he seems legit.  It tells me he is in a circumstance where he has tons of cash and have customers/friends who need large amounts of bitcoins urgently.  Why he is in this situation we can only speculate but that's the great thing about bitcoins -- its anonymity.

Because I have a significant inventory of legit Amazon, Walmart, and Target gift cards; I am looking for buyers with substantial amount of bitcoins who need to unload them fairly quickly.  An example are vendors who sell their merchandise only in bitcoins and need a way to spend their large hard-earned profits in the fiat-currency world.  I believe from their standpoint, paying $102 per $100 Amazon code on Bitmit is a huge bargain.

35  Economy / Goods / Re: Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 11, 2012, 11:53:37 PM
It's for people who transact heavily with bitcoins who need a means of spending bitcoins anonymously.  The same goes for physical gift cards like Walmart and Target.  I have yet to see anyone selling Amazon claim codes at below value for bitcoins.  If you see one, we'd all like to know.  Cheers.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy Amazon.com $100 claim code for $102 BTC equivalent on: October 11, 2012, 11:47:52 PM
Bitmit is back up.  Glad to see it was not a "take the bitcoins and run" scenario.

Regarding vouching for this service, I've been using it for a month now with 8 completed orders.  All went very smoothly thus far.  The escrow feature makes it much easier deal with sellers and to see their feedback history versus this site.

40  Other / Beginners & Help / Buy Amazon claim codes, Target and Walmart gift cards safely on: October 07, 2012, 11:02:47 PM
Amazon claim cards and gift cards in general are a great way of spending bitcoins anonymously.  I am selling these on bitmit.net for safety reasons.   They have good 3rd party escrow and buyer-seller rating features.  The Amazon claim codes come directly from Amazon gift cards. The codes are sent via private email. After it is applied, the funds are locked to the users Amazon account for safety.

Sample Amazon claim code:
http://www.bitmit.net/en/q/?q=amazon+claim+code

Amazon eGift cards have a green rating of 86 out of 100 according to scripsmart.com.

- Never expires.
- No hidden fees.
- Check balance online or by phone.
- Redeemable online.

Amazon claim codes are available in $25, $50, and $100 denominations.

- Walmart: $100, $200, $500.
