21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to tell Iran customers to get Bitcoin to pay the bill? on: February 05, 2013, 03:48:25 AM
Q: Who in his right mind would sell a nontrivial amount of Bitcoin for Iranian currency.
A: No one.

Sorry, but tough titty. Maybe it is not that hopeless if they have something of value like gold, oil etc and can actually deliver it. Even then all those embargoes do not help much. It sucks to be on the receiving end of modern "cold warfare" AKA "currency wars".

Nevertheless, let's assume they can set up some kind of local exchange trading bitcoins for whatever of value they may have at whatever the market sez it worth. Here you go, they have breached the blockade at least to some degree and Bitcoin immediately classified by some as "enemy of the state" and "treasonous financial instrument", lol,  and by some as a "strategic resource".

Iran is already trading with Gold on the national level. (mainly with Turkey I believe)

Gaddafi planned to start an African currency backed by gold.

The international mega-banks couldn't let that happen now could they....

Would you consider reducing/eliminating the rake on the 10 chip hu sng game?

It's currently 9+1 and 11% rake is hard to beat in a heads up game.

For example the 50 chip game is 48+2, a reasonable 4% rake.

Thanks for the welcome kjlimo!

We don't rake fractional chips and some players really wanted a 10 chip option to try out omaha. I'm going to add a 25 chip option which will have much closer to the normal rake since rounding will have a smaller effect. Possibly I'll remove the 10 chip option as well as I don't really like having a game with that high % rake.

Thanks for the quick response. A 25 chip game would be awesome!

Do you have plans to ever start using fractionals? Say if bitcoins went to $50 a piece it may be a good idea to have a .50/$1 game? Or maybe you will just switch 1 bitcoin=2,000 chips?

VERY good question. I think that increasing to 2000 chips  is terrible idea. micro bitcoin bets is still better that play chips, imo . just start start sealswithclubs2.net or something else like that. probably would need to plaster adds everywhere to make it. profitable but still lots of work im sure. this site is alot of fun and I will play til my bitcoin wallet is full.

a 4 max option(wta) in the sng launcher would be great. or put a 6max wl 3 votes to start maybe. ?.?

yea not sure how increasing 1 btc=2,000 chips would work for current account balances either, if it'd be easy to just double everyones balance or if that is difficult/impossible.

1,000 chip= 1 btc works pretty well with current bitcoin price, but like in my earlier example if bitcoin was up to $50, the lowest stake table would essentially be .05/.10, rather than .015/0.03 that it is with bitcoin at/around $15. Eventually I think that would dry up some of the traffic with your lowest game requiring $10 worth of bitcoin for a full buyin.

Anyway, just all theoretical/long term as it probably isn't really likely for bitcoin to explode that high in price anytime soon.

A 4 max game would be great, or as you alluded to a 6 max w/3 votes if it wouldn't be too difficult to implement.

As a Brit very familiar with Morgan and his ways, and as one who has seen some of Alex Jones' rants before I should have known better than to have sat through that one.  But it does intrigue me that Jones has such a following, as it puzzles me that Bush should ever have become president.  He's a 9/11 truther for f***s sake!  How can anybody with an ounce of sense take him seriously?

Over this side of the pond we rarely get to hear a rational argument put for the right to bear arms so it could potentially have been interesting and informative - but not with those two!  The US pro-gun lobby are painted here as lunatic red-neck conspiracy theorists.  It doesn't help the cause when the one who walks out to represent them just simply reinforces the stereotype!

Look up Operation Northwoods declassified U.S. documents and still tell me that its not at least a possibility that some part of the U.S. govt was involved in 9/11

Not to mention look at all the fascist BS they've been able to push through using 9/11 as the excuse, maybe it just happened conviently for them, but I'd guess when it involves the most powerful people in the world it typically is not just a coincidence.

Patriot Act, Homeland security, TSA, NDAA, Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and on and on. Oh just how well it worked out for them that 9/11 occurred, what a coincidence!
I'll tell you straight I'm simply not going there on any of the 9/11 stuff.  My comment in the previous post says where I am on that.

As for the politicians' consequent use of it to push through their own agendas on surveillance, wars, erosion of civil liberties etc. I'm with you on that one.  But that does not lead me to believing those who gained in that manner caused the conditions from which they took advantage.  So please, just leave the other as far as I'm concerned.

Did you look up Operation Northwoods? Declassified info that CIA or other agents where going to stage terror attacks inside the United States posing as Cubans to bring about public support for the invasion of Cuba.  It was brought all the way to JFK's desk where he rejected it. Had a different president been sitting it would of likely been implemented.

Do you know the history of the Taliban and USA working together during the 80's in afghanistan? The CIA most likely had worked with Osama bin laden before.

I'm not saying the U.S. govt was involved for sure, I don't know that. But it certainly was possible, anyone who says otherwise does not know history very well, or is lying to themselves because its too hard for them to comprehend.

No surprise, its only a matter of time, CIA already deployed and likely directing Al-Qaeda in Syria.

Great site, looks like 1/2 NL has at least a couple tables running at almost all times. 2/4 to 5/10 NL is pretty common and if you start a table someone will join pretty quickly. Omaha also seems to run a fair amount.

The on the 30: tournament is a good one, typically 8-20 players registered.

Also a freeroll runs hourly, winner take all, 50 chip (.05 btc) to the winner. Typically 30-60 players, with quite a few sitting out, so odds are a bit better. Now if I can just figure out how to win it Smiley
