21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ANC] Anoncoin (anoncoin.net) | Privacy-centric currency | I2P darknet on: May 27, 2017, 08:08:01 PM

Ysell - Good job mate.

X68N - Thank you for that. I will wait for yobit.net to reply and then we can update the registration with the payment.

Regarding the crowdfunding, the first thing we need to think about is how much we need to raise to take Anoncoin forward as the best Altcoin.

Thanks Cryptoslave & Machico

It would probably add to the strength and backing of the coin if some of the main developers were to give their support of the crowd funding and provide some indicators of deliverables they themselves prioritise as essential for the coin's prosperity. We could get this via irc2p, but for the initial purpose of authenticity, most people would prefer to read it first hand here. When crowd funding, I propose a seperate crowd fund for each deliverable? This way, if a developer were to inform us of a crucial element and put forward zerocoin, and another were to prioritise marketing we could put our money where we,  as investors want results.

I agree ysell.

CS - After the Yobit listing request, can you list your priorities at the moment and future deliverables so we can start planing a strategy to move forward.
To developers
Can I also add that It would be advantageous to put the costings for what you feel would be a proportionate financial goal for each deliverable. We all have to earn to put food on the table, pay bills etc so it's only fair that you are paid for the amount of days, weeks or months this will take to implement.  It is understandable that you would choose paid work over non paid ANC work, so I think it's only fair that you are provided with appropriate donations for your ANC efforts.

I know it's a weekend and there's not going to be lots of chat happening on #Anoncoin, but there are only 5 members logged in at the moment. Could someone tell me all the usernames of developers on irc2p so that I can point them to this discussion? I guess their usernames maybe different on irc2p.  Thanks

CS has mentioned their names on here but as you said, they might have different names on irc2p.

Gnosis
lunokhod
Meeh
Ssuag

I was logged into the wrong network. All sorted now. Thanks

Ysell - If CS allows us to update twitter and facebook, do you want to focus on one and I will focus on the other?
Just created the username @anoncoinzero . I will start updating in the next few weeks with updates and up and coming news from the irc2p chats. If someone else wants to take the torch and create other twitter usernames to create news content, please do. More news is good news

I sent you a message with the info I need to put the request through. If you want the request to be put through ASAP, I will use your BTC address to pay for it.

In terms of the future for Anoncoin, I was thinking we could do a crowfunding on Kickstarter to help you with the tech side.

What about the anonymous group logo, can we also use that one? Moreover, are you in control of the twitter and facebook accounts? Can we start updating them?

Some great ideas machico  Cool

ah man this is so fucked up Cry , i tried now 4h (!) to get i2p-network running - no luck i tried it all:

-disabled softwarefirewall on the hardware router, did not help.
-enabled udpnp on the hardware router, did not help.
-enabled portforwarding all ports on the hardware router, did not help.
-added my external ip into the config, did not help.
-tried all possible combinations from standart to hidden mode, did not help.
- i read several how toos,FAQ and tutorials for trouble shooting, did not help.

it all boils dont to remove the hardware router to see if this works, but how unrealistic is that?
i mean every private DSL-user has a modem router which is usually from the ISP for free.
Its very strange, because Anoncoin-i2p-portable works instant, so i dont understand why the i2p-networkrouter cant connect.
it says cant reach ntp-servers, but i already forwarded port123 (and all other 65k).

i cant imagine no another point of failure that the hardware router, since its the only part between the pc and the internet (softwarefirewall deactivated) maybe the router is jerking me.

What OS is the non portable version using?

Cryptoslave could you let people know where they can find out what's going on with Anoncoin, not just the incremental deliverables on the development Wiki https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Anoncoin_development_team, but who's doing what at any time. For Anoncoin enthusiasts like me who want to know what's going on and the technical challenges that are happening. I don't expect a run through every task that developers are working on, but a birds eye view of the sub processes occuring would be newsworthy. Is all the discussion happening on i2p?

Sorry for long time no news,

Yes you can check #anoncoin, #anoncoin-dev and #anci2pd on IRC2P, that is where dev team is.

Yep Meeh stepped back in as the lead dev, he did some commits (https://github.com/Anoncoin/anoncoin/commit/b0106dbc6ce59caebe23c98419a31aa632426321) recently and will do more regarding for instance merged mining with LTC. Indeed the halving occured two weeks ago and now a block reward is 1.25 ANC per 3 min, leaving very few ANC to get mined! Thus to increase overall hashrate merge mining is discussed by meeh to be implemented, we are deciding what to do about this point with Meeh, K1773R, orignal,... and the community if people want to!

BTC38 does not answer to any request regarding allowing deposit back though, so we are promoting competent trading exchanges namely exchanged.i2p and novaexchange.

Hi Cryptoslave
I'm trying to use IRC2p with no luck. When I go to 127.0.0.1:6668 I received the following error "this address uses a network port which is normally used for purposes other than web browsing. Firefox has cancelled the request for your protection". I have tried changing the port from 4444 to 6668 in firefox network settings to no avail.

@ machico, 0,0001 as high is ok to buy i think too Smiley

@ ysell: i tried the proxy config at firefox, but i get the error the proxy is offline because this feature was not implemented yet xD
so i have to install i2p i guess?

damn i have seen it comming a unexperieneced market participant drives the price to the sky. You have to learn the rules of supply and demand.
If there is small liquidity (like on Nova) and you buy relative large amounts, the price will go up.
This is bad for you as a buyer since you want to buy cheap, so patience is the key.
If you dont make a profit and bag hold then continue xD.

Nova is the only Exchange where you can sell. Dont be fooled by the high price of BTC38. They have halted deposits and are
too incompeted to fix their wallet (they say they wait for the developer, and the deveolper on the other hand already contacted them
many times. So they will not fix it in the future, they just wait.) This means no supply on BTC38 only Buyers which can withdraw,
this drives the price up which produces a distorted price.

@ ysell thank you i will try it Smiley

Sorry, just properly read the last part of what you say and you're right about BTC38. Just read previous posts and their not playing ball for some reason. Looks like NovaExchange needs more sellers though, that will increase the liquidity. I think many are in it for the long haul rather than short profits, or are waiting till the price increases. I personally am in this for the longer term and don't care about fluctuations in price.

Glad I could help. I've just taken a gander at BTC38 and Novaexchange and it looks like the reason the price is so low on nova is that there is very limited turnover, of very low amounts on nova. I would suggest people would rather sell at the higher amount on BTC38 than tge lower on nova. I would suggest buying or selling any substantial amount on BTC38,unless you want to wait a long while for takers on the lower price on nova

I'm using the nodes off of https://novaexchange.com/addnodes/ANC/ and have 4 active connections (clearnet) however my blockchain is not catching up. This is on a fresh install. I hear I2P seems to be working better and maybe this is what I need to do to get it to work but is there any reason why clearnet shouldn't be downloading the blockchain even with 4 peers?
Clearnet will work, but you have to install the bootstrap file or you'll be waiting days for the block chain to sync. The bootstrap brings it down to hours to sync. https://wiki.anoncoin.net/How_to_use_a_bootstrap_file_to_speed_up_initial_synchronization#For_Windows_users

Ysell - I will read the Zerocoin info you suggested. If I get my coins back, I have no intention of selling them. I think we (as a community) can still get this project on the road. I was wondering if we should all contact Cryptoslave and offer our help and individual skills to save the project. I understand that the main skills they need at the moment are people that can code? Unfortunately, that is a skills I don't have. However, I can offer other skills like maintaining the twitter/facebook account, research, writing articles, etc.

I think at this early stage anything anyone can do will help. I, like many others on here will offer support if I can. I can juggle the forum when I'm out and about working. I can't login via i2p when I'm out and update the community on latest development chats . I think being able to update the community outside of i2p would be great. It would be incredible if Anoncoin community were to vote on certain jobs, paying with Anoncoin for completion, for example "Zerocoin implementation".

one thing i dont understand is,

when i use the "portable i2p anoncoin version" which has a i2p router why cant i open the i2p adress?

or do i have to config the browser or do i have to install another i2p package?

Go to

Firefox > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings

Manual Proxy Configuration > Host IP address:  (Enter) 127.0.0.1

Port: 4444

If you want to resort back to a speedier non proxy service, then just follow the Firefox options above and enable No Proxy

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: May 24, 2017, 08:15:56 PM
I just received an email from Cryptopia saying that they have sent the coins and that the transaction had all the confirmations. Maybe the reason is because I have synced the portable wallet and not the anoncoin-qtc wallet. The wallet bat file is maybe for the anoncoin-qtc? Anyway, I did everything suggested to open the anoncoin-qtc wallet and it says that I am running on clearnet but not the portable version.

The  portable one would be a brand new wallet seperate from your previous version. You will need to restore your old wallet and send the balance over to your portable wallet if that's what you want to do. There are support pages on restoring an old wallet from bat.

Re: Zerocoin. Check out the development log. It's not kept uptodate, but it's at least a map on what deliverables are intended for further releases. Release C is the one you need to look at: https://wiki.anoncoin.net/Development_schedule . The MIT Zerocoin project was intended as a seperate coin to anonymise Bitcoin transactions. Anoncoin intend on making Zerocoin part of the currency rather than just as anonymising tool. So when it has been implemented into the coin, a hardfork will happen, update your portable version to tge latest release and voila, you have a Zerocoin version of Anoncoin. Been a few years since I read the detail, but mathematicians have not found a better alternative. Eli Ben Sasson,  the main brain behind zero knowledge proofs said that there are many better theoretical zero knowledge proofs, but none that have been solved yet, or any time soon by mathematicians. He was the professor behind the zcash white paper, but he said he personally would not use Zcash as you can't 100% trust the trusted third parties' stage. You can trust the RSO ZKP that Zerocoin use.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: May 23, 2017, 10:45:11 PM
Ysell - Have you been invested in anoncoin for a long time and do you think it will survive? I have been with anoncoin from the early days and still believe in the coin but the support at the moment is weak.
There's so many if's and but's to this question. I have been interested in the coin since Zerocoin 2013ish. The tech is awsome. They've delivered on the i2p integration, now it's just a wait till the zerocoin integration; then, if this happens there will be no other coin that even comes close.

Monero and zcash, all have inferior tech (especially zcash dodgy multi party trusted coin - Not even the inventors would trust zcash - on Youtube saying this), but if Zcoin is never implemented, it's just a fantastic theory. I believe it will be implemented. The main developers have other projects, such as Meeh being the main developer for i2p.

The critical aspect of this, is; will the main developers continue to work on ANC? The problem is without development, or at least a visible presence on Twitter, Forum's etc, people think it's dead, yet there is development, although sporadic. The developers are so hot on working within the confines of a private internet i2p that they fail to realise that public insecure communication is the best way to garner new interest, new developers etc. It seems these guys are happy with an exclusive privacy network without communicating with others outside of it.  it's a very interesting coin with awsome potential and a whisper of development. The development whisper does not fill me with optimism for it's future, yet I have a geeky enthusiasm for it's potential.

In the not so distant future, governments will try and prevent cryptocurrencies, thus there will inevitably be the need for a privacy based cryptocurrency. I see Anoncoin tech as being a safety net incase the worst does happen. This will see the rise of Anoncoin surpassing Bitcoin valuations, as people are criminalized for using Bitcoin. I'm personally a little unnerved about cryptocurrency, alot like how I was concerned that MP3 digital was surpassing CD's. At the same time I see Anoncoin or equivalent as being an inevitable highly used currency.

Ysell & X68N

Thank you for your help. I started the 'StartANCI2PdPortable' exe file and the i2p exe also started at the same time. After couple of minutes, the 'DYN i2p' activated and I have 6 people connected. I also put the wallet file in the anonocoin wallet folder. I could not find the Roaming folder for some reason. I searched the c drive/users etc, but nothing. However, no syncing is happening as per this post for some reason. I am not sure why?

Have you installed the bootstrap file. If not expect a 2-3 day wait. Bootstrap file speeds things up to the hour(s) rather than days
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: May 22, 2017, 08:21:43 AM

Dear X68N,

Thank you for the portable version. However, when I execute the Anoncoin wallet, it still says that I am running on clearnet. However, I have the i2pd running. Is there something that I need to do? Also, how do I recover my coins? They have been transferring from Cryptopia for nearly 1 year.

Machico

Start “SAM application bridge”, check “run on startup” and click on “Save client configuration”.

Now run the wallet client

anoncoin-qtc

If it says “running on clearnet” you need to make the relevant changes to anoncoin.conf
