Hopefully our chips make it through customs with greater ease than the board components.  Tongue
It will be much easier since the will be send to Slovenia not Germany.

German customs will have an interesting time with the finished boards.
chips & board from the USA, components from Japan & China, Slovenian assembly........................

Glad I am not a German customer

If your a customer from North America, everything is done in USA.

Yes The only thing that is not done in the USA is the PCBs and I already have a good quantity of them,
If I get down to about half the quantity I have now I will order more:

from start to finish including DHL express shipping (always goes through customs very easy) it takes 8-10 days to get PCBs from start to delivery but like I said I already have them in quantity and will keep them in quantity.

Board assembly takes 5 days, your boards are sent to me where I connect cooling components and load firmware and ship them right out.

If you live outside of north America, your boards will be assembled in Slovania and other aspects handled by lucko.

Yes the main board designer form who is building a production board by hand lives in Germany which is in my opinion is the absolute hardest country in the world to ship anything to.

At least in Russia you can bribe the customs agents... lol

The tracking says it was delivered in Germany yesterday but other than waiting to see form put this board together, German shipping will not affect customers in any way, (unless your a German customer in that case I would use FedEx express for shipping method from business account like we did with form and you will get it in 2-4 days.

If you live in North America, and are interested in getting your BFL chips mounted please PM me, we can have your chips sent directly to the assembly house to save time.

have a nice day Smiley

Production Boards, Chips, and Cooling parts have been delivered to Germany. Smiley

You guys should see a working production board very soon.

Had a quick look at your output .... I noticed that you have the default setting of 24 for "Miner Count" in your config. As you wrote, it is a 4 "blade" unit so the correct value would be 32.

Can you also please check the hardware addresses of your both units network interfaces, they need to be different.
A factory reset followed by a fresh firmware flash will set them to the same address.

You can also try:
a) disconnect 3 out four modules and check if you have faulty one (burned chip etc.) ... remember to set the miner count correctly!
b) run the modules in the working Avalon miner in order to check that they are OK.

If it turns out to be your FPGA board, I suggest you get a new one from the bitmine.ch guys ... Let them know I send you, they will FedEx you one for a reasonable price.

All the best!

    one4many

I would try pulling the jumper and trying to run it directly from a linux box
if it still dosnt work, you can count on a bad FPGA board.

Just some food for thought...

No Offense but 1 th/s wont be jack shit come January. Just sayin' Smiley

Especially if knc ships 28nm ontime (October 15th), I have 2 th/s of avalon asics now, which to me is barely anything these days.

It's much smarter to get hashing sooner than later even on a smaller scale, the difficulty level is rising at record levels every difficulty change.

Also I wanted to note to people to keep updated on the cgminer thread,  the latest news is Bitfury devices wont be compatible for awhile, there is some issue there, I had the link but I lost it, if you look for it you can find the info.

We use the same micro controller and firmware as BFL - our devices will be compatible out of the box just like BFL's are, plus they will be available much sooner.

We will be ready as soon as BFL starts shipping chips which should be soon, they may be backlogged on devices but that takes assembly, the availability of other components and all sorts of other things that causes delays, chip shipments should be timely.

Just putting in my two cents Smiley

Hi
Is there any more information about power requirements?
If these (and other boards) sell well, there could be a problem buying power supplies of the right quality and size.
We may need to pre-order psu's to obtain the best units.

BFL seem to have had problems along these lines.

These boards use standard 6 pin pci-e connectors, like what you use with a high end gpu

I do not know the exact power requirements per board yet , but it can easily be measured after form assembles the first board using these new rev 1.2 boards.

The datasheet for the chip is here: http://my.root4u.de/BFL_SHA2_Spec_Rev2.2.pdf

Which may be helpful,

But honestly I would just buy a high end certified gold or certified platinum "gaming level" psu
1000w-1200w Seasonic Platinum or Corsair Gold/Platinum Something like that

I actually tested several BFL 50Ghs SC's (they actually do 65Gh/s+) which I believe have 16 chips in them, and I was able to easily run 3 Units from one 1200w Seasonic Platinum PSU. It had enough connectors and plenty of power. So I would imagine the contamination board will use about the same amount of power as the BFL 50 SC here: https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/50-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

Hope I was able to help.

hi
sorry about the confusion, between my incredibly busy life and the huge time zone difference between myself and lucko, and form we have some mis-communication.

Please dont buy anything from the website until weve tested this board thoroughly.

We will have prices and everything else worked out by the time the board is tested.

thank you for being patient and sorry for confusing you - I was excited to finally get the PCBs in though Wink

Outstanding JJ
If we are in Luckos GB do we need to order from you?
I'm in AZ.

All customers who are in North America can order from http://www.cointamination.com, if you have some sort of discount from Lucko contact him about that and we will work something out. We will have a solid coupon/discount solution for those who have earned discounts in the next day or so.

thank you

Hello,

I am happy to report that our first batch of Cointamination Production PCB's have arrived! Smiley

I will be fedex'ing to form some boards and cooling parts tomorrow to form as well as some sample chips.

btw: we could still use some sample chip donations if anyone has them.

However either way we should know very soon if this production board will work the way we expect it to and will take orders soon after that.

thank you to everyone who has helped to support this project.

It is true, that mounting will be made by Germany company?

Cheers...

Hello

We we will split thing up,

I am handling all sales, assembly, chip mounting and everything for North America.

So if you live in North America your chips will be mounted at my RoHS compliant west coast assembly facility.

if you live else where  in the world your chips may be mounted with me or someplace else. Not sure on that yet - Lucko still has to do the details

But basically how this works is I am reselling for North American customers and Lucko is reselling for Europe and other countries/continents
Our boards are Manufactured in the USA, Lucko may have other plans for the boards he has for his customers but I am not 100% sure on that yet.

So if your a customer outside North America and for questions about where his boards will be assembled you would have to ask him (Lucko)
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL board project COINTAMINATION - EU+USA facility - need samples for one board on: September 09, 2013, 09:33:53 AM
We will sell DIY Kits,  but personally unless you have the equipment and the experience I would recommend chips mounted by machine it would make much more sense to spend extra $100 or so to have your chips professionally mounted onto the board by a robot (pick and place machine) because its very very easy to screw something like this up and you need some very high end equipment to do so, not something you can find at radio shack, if you know what I mean.

Just to clarify for North American orders we will be accepting Bitcoin Only. Lucko will handle orders from European countries and such and he will accept other payment methods.

How far have you progressed along the pi option?

In a very early stage only in my head because I'd allready send all my samples to chris99 for tests.
I've started to ask bfl for more chip samples (20) but maybe I get only 10.
8 of them I can send to lucko so 2 of my samples can be used to test my own design idea.
The base idea comes from the circuit which shows that the chip has F12 E12 D12 and C12 an
simple SPI interface. On PI it is possible to use GPIO for SPI interface so my hope is without
having an AVR it is possible direct use with only small extension connected to my pi.
The main problem is still the power supply of the chips. I've here an old modminer board with
an Delta Electronics D12F200 DC DC controller which should supports 2 chips for my tests

If my idea will becomes more concrete I will open own thread.

If you can send 5 sample chips to Form (not lucko)

thats what we really need, so we can test a full 16 Chip board.

If anyone can contribute 5 Sample chips, sent directly to Form in Germany via Federal Express overnight, I will give you a free board with free mounting (you just need to supply the chips)

If anyone can do this especially if you are in the EU or Germany please let me know

Hi Lucko
Hi JerimiahJohnson

Just had a quick look at your new website, Wink
looks neat and clear. Cool

I have even managed to open an account. Roll Eyes

My only gripe would be that the rest of the world will get these boards before the "Lucko group buy" Grin

oh well........., I suppose we should have been faster to place our orders............... Sad

Hey Relax my friends

Don't worry I am not even accepting orders yet, on the website - just getting it setup and testing some things out,  we are not taking orders untill we have PCB's in hand and our first production board completed and is fully tested. In fact I have not even announced the web site or advertised it anywhere you must of found it by accident.

In fact the logo is sort of just a joke... lol - I was just testing out the site and getting it ready...

Orders are now disabled on the website since someone found it on accident while I was working on it, however no orders have been made / and or paid. When we are able to start accepting orders, I will make an announcement on the site.

As far the whole group buy discount thing I will have to talk to lucko and arrange something with that.

Just to make it clear for everyone:

We are not taking orders just testing website and here is the most accurate timeline I can provide:

<1> Sept 9th I will have PCBs, and production cooling system parts in hand (according to tracking info)
<2> Sept 9th/10th I will fedex express mail some PCBs/parts to form
<3> Sept 12th/13th Form will hand assemble the first production board
<4> If the board works like we expect it to we will -->
<5> Start accepting orders<13th-15th> will have discount/group buy thing worked out by this point

Assembly
Around Sept 15th
<1>The Assembly facility has all the necessary files and information to begin assembling the full boards once we know they will work
<2>We will begin assembling boards to completion with the exception of the chips
<3>Since most BFL chips will not be coming for weeks for most people, we are going to do one big batch of the completed boards on a 10 day assembly lead time, so they will be ready for mounting when the chips come in.

If you are getting your chips earlier and want to pay extra for faster assembly times please email jj@cointamination.com and I can give you price quotes on 48 hour and 5 day assembly times.

<4>Look for boards to ship around the 25th, unless you get your chips earlier and we work something else out.

Hope I was able to answer all your questions.

This website is a work in progress. As far as the whole group buy thing and discounts I will talk to Lucko and get this worked out before we go live with orders.

Just wanted to update...

According to DHL I will have production PCBs on Monday.

Form could use a couple more samples. (five) more as far as I know so he can hand assemble a production board before we have some made at the assembly facility.

I am willing to donate Free PCB to anyone that gives sample chips to form so he can check the production PCB before we go to professional manufacture

contact Lucko for arrangements.

Also yes I will be offering professional chip mounting as well as assembly services in the US.

Website coming this week.

Hi

Don't quote me on this but the price of the board itself fully assembled will be someone around the range of $500.00

We will have a definitive price soon, but this will give you an idea of what to expect.

Hello

Just wanted to give an update. I received this morning a DHL tracking number from our PCB fabrication facility in China. These will likely arrive in 2-3 days, at which time I will post pics on the forum and send a couple boards to form and lucko for testing and I will also send 5 boards to my US based Assembly facility, to have 5 production test boards manufactured.

If all goes well with those test boards (which we expect it will) we will move forward.

- Things left to do:
- Test professionally manufactured production board
- --> Finish web site for ordering and order tracking
- --> Test different cooling solutions
- --> Determine final prices

<-> We will have PCBs in hands in a couple of days
<-> We will have professionally manufactured production boards in 7-10 days (or earlier)

Ill post an update with pics as soon as the boards come in.

Just wanted to give update on Cointamination progress.

Sorry for any confusion on time frames, we placed our order with the PCB fab at a busy time for them so our design was in queue for a short time but things are moving forward and I have an estimated ship date from the fab of September 5th.

When the boards arrive I will post pics for all to see and I am sending 5 of them to the Assembly facility to have 5 production test boards made to be sure the design works as we expect it does. They have already been paid and also have sent our schematic package to them to have them ready ahead of time. Everything has been checked and double checked, additional components are being purchased directly by them - they are ready to rock and roll as soon as I send them the boards and the chips.

Build time from Assembler is 5 days and I will have the completed boards the next day.

I do have an estimated price of what it will cost the end consumer to buy the boards and have them mounted. Form has written instructions for the pick and place machine to build 2, 4, 8, 12 and 16 chip versions of this board, so all will be available however the price will not be much different if any.

Also we will offer DIY kits, as well as chip mounting services at our facility.

We will release an official price after I get a chance to talk to form and lucko about it. We usually meet once a day but thats about it because of time zone difference.

Web site still has to be completed in order to take orders, this will be completed by the time we have tested the boards. Payments for North American orders will be in Bitcoin only. Form and Lucko may accept other payment methods however that is up to them, and has yet to be determined.

I will post more info as soon as its available.
