22  Economy / Speculation / Re: [FUD] ANYONE HODLING? on: February 12, 2014, 09:19:09 PM
perhaps HODLERS are beginning to feel the FUD creep in and need this thread to comfort each other and spam "to da mooon"
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anybody tempted to buy some cheap Gox coins? on: February 12, 2014, 09:18:03 PM
The days when the withdrawal issue started the gox premium turned around to a discount. Now it appears that all the big exchanges are facing BTC withdrawal issues. Still the Gox discount exists. Not too sure why this is the case. Either some people do know something or some are stupid to sell GoxBTC for GoxUSD. I would guess the BTC withdrawal issue will be fixed first....

What am I missing ?

you missed that other exchanges paused withdrawals before a problem with funds began to occur to prevent being manipulated. Gox has been operating with this glitch in their software seemingly for months. People will be lucky to get 25% of their coins back at all, imo they are all gone.

I still don't understand OP. Could you give a date or post a chart.

dates and charts only matter with horseshoes and hand grenades

26  Economy / Speculation / Re: The news is having a field day! on: February 11, 2014, 02:18:25 PM
Media loves to glorify any piece of information they can grab.  On Yahoo (USA) front page, the #1 trending topic is "Bitcoin Crash" ( https://search.yahoo.com/search?cs=bz&p=Bitcoin%20crash&fr=fp-tts-901&fr2=ps&woeid=2462066 ).  Sigh.....

Again: If people think it has "crashed" now, then they will think now is the time to buy if ever. Of course I come from a small household with not much disposable income for investing, but at this point we have 3 family members in BTC and have doubled our position, a month ago I was the only one with BTC.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you guys remember the poll about if bitcoin will be 10 000usd this year? on: February 11, 2014, 02:16:42 PM
Yahoo finance just posted an article about Mt. Gox claiming the bitcoin code had issues. I would think that should be enough to scare anyone away from bitcoins.

I honestly wonder where the money is going to come from to push bitcoins even past $1000 at this point.

You have to realize that so many people are sitting on huge amounts of bitcoins that they paid close to nothing for. It is hard to imagine that enough buyers will come in to buy even a fraction of these bitcoins from them.

I think the holders will start to cheat a little more and sell some before the other holders sell theirs. This should keep pushing the price down. If I had bitcoins I wouldn't want to be the one left holding the bag.

We are still not to mainstream adoption. The next phase imo is institutional investors. Institutional investors will do their research and realize there is no problem with the protocol, what they will see is a floundering company (Mt. Gox) making excuses, and they will still invest. Once institutional investors are in, price skyrocketing and those same institutional investors pushing it to the populace will see us well past 10k/BTC.
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: The news is having a field day! on: February 11, 2014, 02:09:21 PM
I would rather the news be full of doom and gloom about bitcoin than anything. People who have not yet bought in may see negative news as "the time to buy." There have been way too many posts on this forum suggesting people have missed the train when it simply isn't the case.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anybody tempted to buy some cheap Gox coins? on: February 11, 2014, 12:58:08 PM
tempted in the same way i'm tempted to stick my schlong in a meat grinder
30  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was the GOX FUD day bullish or bearish? on: February 11, 2014, 12:09:44 AM
even if btc at gox are presumed "lost," can legal action be taken against them from the USD side of things?

also, addressing the two possible roads for gox to take from some other thread I saw but can't seem to find, they proposed:
1. If gox opens USD withdrawal, people mass sell BTC on gox to have USD to withdraw and price plummets
2. If gox opens BTC withdrawal, people mass buy BTC on gox and price skyrockets on gox (maybe driving up other echanges) but then all those BTC hit the other exchanges as people withdraw them and the price spike is followed by a equally large crash

I think in either case, or if they open withdrawals of both somehow, the end result will be a price drop (whether immediate or after an initial spike, as in case 2). But with gox claiming the problem is the fault of the protocol, perhaps they wont open withdrawals of either for some months. so the real question is, what will having 68,000+ BTC locked up do to the overall market price? probably push it up...less supply, same demand (or more demand with this low-ish price)
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was the GOX FUD day bullish or bearish? on: February 10, 2014, 11:56:45 PM
Neither, it's still ongoing. If they open bitcoin withdrawals again the price will rocket TO DA MOON (sorry). Right now the price mostly depends on their next move. Even no move counts as a move in a situation like this.

the fact that price is creeping up since the initial drop is very telling. im just wondering if some whale is waiting for price to return to a certain point before they also dump

33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Forecasts on: February 10, 2014, 08:38:54 PM
BTC is still loosing ground on the Mt. Gox exchange platform. New losses are possible. Let's keep it within the 570-590 range (February 11th). By the way, if you're up to BTC intraday trading check this out http://coinforecasts.com/. Very smooth and accurate trading strategies provided.

forecasts that look at mt gox price? amateurs.
34  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will any long term holders admit to cashing out or wanting to cash out? on: February 10, 2014, 07:01:15 PM
I figure that with the price declines over the last weeks that some long term holders may want to cash out because of the constant losses.

Has anyone here cashed out or are seriously thinking about it?

In fact, I've tried to cash in @503 (a 90 days+ old order!), gox ticker has fallen to 500, but gox never fullfiled my order.

Funny isn't it?

Its God trying to tell you to stop playing the system, cancel your sell orders, and sit back so he can make you rich in 3 years.

or to stop using gox

36  Economy / Speculation / Re: gox euro price is around $20 higher than gox USD on: February 07, 2014, 10:55:20 PM
because gox is going tits up
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we going to see $500 tonight? on: February 07, 2014, 02:01:33 AM
smart traders on gox should use this as an opportunity to convert all the fiat they have on gox to btc and attempt to get the btc to a different exchange to sell, considering this is the closest ive ever seen the prices of gox to other exchanges
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation Bet: Bitcoin will hit $600 (non-gox price) by 3-22-14 on: February 02, 2014, 01:36:38 AM
i wont be a member for a year until halfway through the bet being done:3

i'd be inclined to take the bet if it didnt include btc-e price
