21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: March 24, 2017, 03:42:20 PM
I have 3 rx 480 and 1 gtx 980 (total 4 Cards) I can not run the gnoil because always detect the NVIDIA, although I run the CUDA version or OpenCL always detects me 1 card (the GTX 980) what is the problem?

You can try running to instances, one with 1x CUDA and other with 3x OpenCL where you define the cards to be used, use
Code:
ethminer --list-devices -G
to see the numbers for devices and then use --opencl-devices and --cuda-devices.

Hmm... it doesn't seem to "sync" or anything like the other wallets like Bitcoin and Dash. What should I do?

There at the top you see the state of syncing, says
Quote
3,238,552 blocks left, 2% done.

Anyone Happen to have a Mac Binary of Genoil miner.. ?

I tried to compile it and posted an issue on the github but no replies.

Genoil has stopped the development and support of the miner a while ago, so you probably won't get an answer there, many people have struggled with building on OSX and i'm not aware of any public binaries, so be careful if someone sends you one.

That was a good write up on the matter, these kind of guides for new people coming into the crypto scene are really needed, thanks for writing it.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Mining - What GPU to buy on: March 24, 2017, 08:28:28 AM
Hi guys!

I currently have a gtx970 on my desktop rig and I'm mining only ETH. I want to buy another GPU and I wanted to ask whether another GTX 970 in SLI would be beneficial for me or should I opt for an RX 480? Would an AMD and NVidia card get along in the same rig, mining ETH? I'm waiting for other GPU suggestions if you have any.

Thanks in advance,
Andrei

Since you already have a Nvidia card, you might wanna stick to the same manufacturer at least if you want to add cards to the same machine, because the mixing of drivers has it's own set of issues.
So i would suggest going with a Nvidia 1070 or if that's too expensive, a 1060.

And on another note, do not use SLI or CrossFire bridges, they will decrease your mining efficiency, you just want to have have the cards connected to the mobo without bridges to use them for mining.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GNT] Golem Project - The world’s most powerful supercomputer on: March 24, 2017, 08:18:53 AM
Is there any idea who or how will use Golem supercomputer's computing power? Will it be a "general" supercomputer or will it have niche or niches? Providing supercomputing power is nice, but I think most niches could use some application examples or design-pattern, at least.

The first milestone for Golem is the Brass Golem, in which there will be a integration with Blender rendering, so 3D artists can buy computing power to render their work.

But in the end i think it's Golem's goal so that basically anyone can buy and sell their computing resources for any use.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: November 03, 2016, 11:04:57 AM
I'm done with compilation..just missed that they changed the colored output ..need to find out when and how to activate the silentarmy kernel..
If needed I can upload the binary for 64bit..done with SM61, SM52 for the moment.

Could you add SM30 for Keppler support as well?

Edit: ah, it's just windows binaries, no linux, nm.

Best bet for Nvidia users now is to wait for mrb to finish his implementation and hope it's as good as his work on AMD.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: July 10, 2016, 02:55:24 PM
Any news on the performances on the Pascal gpus?

I can get a stable 31MH/s per card with my 2x MSI 1070 Gaming X cards at 150w per card with OC, stock was 25MH/s, this is on Linux.

(Note: This is my gaming rig, so cards are in a case and connected straight to mobo, no risers and im running X, thus card 0 uses some overhead and has a lower clock&rate.)
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: July 07, 2016, 09:13:00 AM
Thank you @Amph for the reply.

I have no problem running mining on Linux, just interested in the Windows development status, and i would really love to be able to stay off Win10 if possible, but i'm also a gamer and thus Windows is a necessity for the time being.
Dual-boot is a real thing Wink

The new Nvidia 368.69 drivers have been released, can someone test a 1070/1080 on Windows7/8/10 with these?
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 25, 2016, 12:32:31 AM
Illegal memory access...most likely corrupt DAG. Is this all on 1070s?

Switched over to Linux, happened once there already as well, so not Windows related either. Testing to see if less OC will affect it.

No, still on 670 until 1070's arrive Smiley

I've been getting this error now for the past week with 1.1.3 and 1.1.6 , it occurs randomly between 6-48 hours after starting the miner.

Quote

After that it just hangs and won't do anything until i stop and restart the miner. This is on Windows 8

Any idea what's causing this?
Memory allocation related? Too much OC? Is the card starting to fail? Is some other software interefering with the miner or miner code reelated?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 22, 2016, 11:10:56 AM

I followed the instructions -- and I get this error message:

bash: cd: cpp-ethereum/: No such file or directory

something needs to be updated?

Please help to resolve this.

It's saying there isn't such a directory, so are you sure you followed the guide? After the cloning the directory should be there.

And don't just copy+paste the whole thing at once, either write it to your terminal or copy line by line.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 20, 2016, 05:03:45 PM
Using these instructions to build:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install software-properties-common
add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git cmake libcryptopp-dev libleveldb-dev libjsoncpp-dev libjson-rpc-cpp-dev libboost-all-dev libgmp-dev libreadline-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev ocl-icd-libopencl1 opencl-headers mesa-common-dev libmicrohttpd-dev build-essential -y
git clone https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum/
cd cpp-ethereum/
mkdir build
cd build
cmake -DBUNDLE=miner ..
make -j8

Following that guide will install the master branch aka 1.0.8, as you didn't tell how you obtained the 110 branch, i'm assuming you are either installing the 1.0.8 version or obtaining the latest version some other way than git clone.
Also that shows that you enter the directory cpp-ethereum/ but later you point to a cpp-ethereum-110/ directory.
Are you perhaps somehow copying files from a directory to another, where some files are from different versions maybe?

Maybe just try a clean install of 1.1.6 from source?

I know the Github guide can be confusing if you're trying to install the latest version and aren't that familiar with Linux and/or Git.

If you want to install the latest version (1.1.6 atm), you can follow this guide, worked fine for me (and some others), first of all, you should
Code:
rm -rf cpp-ethereum/
to remove your old version completely and to get a clean install or just use a different directory.

Code:
Install the latest version:

AMD:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git cmake libcryptopp-dev libleveldb-dev libjsoncpp-dev libjson-rpc-cpp-dev libboost-all-dev libgmp-dev libreadline-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev ocl-icd-libopencl1 opencl-headers mesa-common-dev libmicrohttpd-dev build-essential -y
git clone -b 110 https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum.git
cd cpp-ethereum/
mkdir build
cd build
cmake -DBUNDLE=miner ..
make -j8
cd ethminer
./ethminer -v

Nvidia:

wget http://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/repos/ubuntu1404/x86_64/cuda-repo-ubuntu1404_7.5-18_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i cuda-repo-ubuntu1404_7.5-18_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get -y install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:ethereum/ethereum
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install git cmake libcryptopp-dev libleveldb-dev libjsoncpp-dev libjson-rpc-cpp-dev libboost-all-dev libgmp-dev libreadline-dev libcurl4-gnutls-dev ocl-icd-libopencl1 opencl-headers mesa-common-dev libmicrohttpd-dev build-essential cuda -y
git clone -b 110 https://github.com/Genoil/cpp-ethereum.git
cd cpp-ethereum/
mkdir build
cd build
cmake -DBUNDLE=cudaminer ..
make -j8
cd ethminer
./ethminer -v

Edit:
Disclaimer: This is just a small guide i made up, i take no guarantee that it will work, it has been tested on Ubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17.3 where it has worked.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 16, 2016, 02:44:35 PM
The gtx 960 can go from 11 to 14MHASH with small modifications to the code. I run with --farm-recheck 150

Is that 960-only? Interesting, nice rate for a 128-bit bus. Haven't got one, so can't even start guessing.

First of all thanks to Genoil for all your hard work.

I've been getting a nice increase in performance by using this miner with my Geforce 670 GTX (Gigabyte 2GB OC model), here are some results:

Windows 8 64bit, 368.39 driver:

ethminer / getwork: 12.4MH/s
genoil 1.1.0 / 1.1.3 / cuda + getwork: 14.4MH/s
genoil 1.1.0 / 1.1.3 / cuda + stratum: 14.6MH/s

Linux Mint 17.3 64bit, 367.xx driver:

ethminer / getwork: 12.4MH/s
genoil 1.0.8 / 1.1.4 / getwork: 9.9MH/s
genoil 1.0.8 / 1.1.4 / cuda + stratum: 14.6MH/s

Ordered 2 1070's that i'm still waiting for to add to the mix Smiley

What setting do you use...

I'm on W7, genoil 1.1.4, 368.39 drivers... and can't get much over 13MHs

My bat file looks like this:
GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0

GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100

GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

ethminer.exe -S eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -O "wallet address" -U --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128 --cuda-schedule auto --farm-recheck 400

For me the default settings seem to work the best, tried messing with some settings but im running with no bat, command-line only, ethminer -U -O -S but the card is overclocked further than the factory OC settings.

In MSI Afterburner i can get a stable system/driver and a stable hashrate with the following settings and values that Afterburner is showing:
Core voltage: -50mV
Power Limit: 100%
Core Clock: 1280Mhz (+131Mhz) GPU-Z showing Default Clock, Boost: 1059, now 1190.
Mem Clock: 3105Mhz (+102Mhz) GPU-Z showing Default Clock: 1502, now 1553.
With fan at 80-85% temp is at 76-80C, 84% TDP (nvidia-smi doesn't support all the functions with the card so can't tell the wattage used.).
