The first of our jewels hangouts where Roy and I discuss the goals of rebirth, game design and the limitations of conquer and what's unique and enjoyable about it.

This episode focuses on the limitations of the combat and networking systems of conquer. The reason we are discussing it so heavily is that is what our networking prototype with heroes will focus on.

Almost 400BTC invested and no one willing to buy more even lower then ICO. That's not a good sign!  Shocked

Price will rise when people actually start using JWL often in game.

The game should only use JWL ^^
How do I sell my things for JWL ? On the auction house ? ( if there is one ) I have asked someone this before but it got lost in the thread.

The auction house is something that will be released in the coming months. None exists originally.

If you wanted to trade with jewels currently you turn them into ingame items (such as vip tokens or garments) to trade with other players. We're also looking at doing a tradable 'jewels token' which when used re-grants the purchase cost to the person who used it (that way you can sell an item for say 1000 jewels and that person can then use those jewels on whatever they wish.)

We've posted another update on steemit discussing what we've been working on in the past week.

Heroes has been updated today with the new Halloween quest and various cosmetics are now available in the jewels shop including the new Trickster'sBlade and NightmareSuit.

Here's an update on the Halloween events. We're deploying the first batch of content later tonight and we're excited to see what everyone thinks.

Nightmare Garment

This is designed to fit the new blade that's being added for the holiday. Turn yourself into a creature of the dark while still maintaining an elegant style. Bats will follow your character as you move through the world and dark swirling energy will build around your character.

Outbreak Suit

Not everyone wants to look cute, or elegant or pretty all the time. The outbreak suit turns you into an infected zombie and allows you to spread your plague throughout the world. When striking an enemy, they will be turned into zombies for 30 seconds! How large can you grow your zombie horde before someone shuts you down?

Trickster's Blade

The newest premium weapon skin added to our game is the Trickster's Blade. It's surrounded by dark energy and bats which fly around it continuously. As pretty as it is on its own, the real show starts when you join combat. As long as this weapon skin is equipped, it changes how all linear skillshots look causing dark clouds of smoke and bats to erupt from the ground.

Halloween Treats

During the final 2 weeks of October, monsters will have a small chance to drop Halloween Treats. When right clicked they will either give you a random reward including upgrade materials, double exp time, costumes to celebrate halloween or if you are unlucky they will turn you into a hideous monster for 30 seconds!

Below is a list of the various costumes you can find from these treats. These garments do not have any special effects but can be stylish none the less. They will be made available in the cash shop throughout the event for those who dont trust their luck.

VampireSuit, ZombieSuit, PoliceUniform, DoctorScrubs, RacingOutfit, FairySuit, PumpkinSuit and the SpartanUniform

Minor Update

We're working on our Halloween update adding a few new weapon skins, skill effects, decorating the city and getting some holiday quest/events ready for testing. Here's a preview of the first new weapon that will be available in Heroes and Apex in the coming days.

<Edit> Finished the first draft of the custom skill effect. When this halloween themed weapon, your attacks are also re-skinned to fit the season.

<Edit x2>

We've finished the groundwork for our latest custom game system. We can now control the speed at which players jump, walk and run independently of eachother. This allows us to support things like movement speed nerfs and buffs which were not a possibility in the original game. This concept is intended for upcoming new custom skills and in various instanced boss fights to add new levels of strategies to these events.

Are the devs still taking applications for a new logo? I met this cool designer in class today and we got to talking then crypto came up, then I mentioned jewels and I was showing it to him and he didn't care too much for the logo and said he could design a much better one that meshed well with the games.

He told me he would have it for me next week at class so I'll fill everyone in then. But if the devs are not still looking then let me know and I'll text him to not waste his time.

I'll have to check with our other dev but I believe we're planning to do a logo contest in the next week or so. I'll send them a message to get them in here with an exact date that's going live!

Welcome to bittrex, did you pay 3 btc listing fee there? Or they added you without fees?

No fee was paid so if you're a user of the Bittrex Slack or Twitter be sure to give them a shout and tell them thanks Smiley

That's nice that they added you for free. Did you have to preform any favors for that? Like give them JWL on the lowlow, or promise to give them inside information about future updates, just asking because I know bittrex is shady AF.

Richie tweeted our coin tag on Twitter on the day we were added and they did not request a listing fee or any special deal.

New composition interface is now live in game. The technology for this opens up a LOT of possibilities for future content. Obviously we still need to re-style the browser window a bit but quite happy with how it turned out.

Just a quick update - We've finished the updated interface for our mass composition system. Much more user friendly than the initial draft. It will be going live for players in the next update.

People seem to enjoy previews of upcoming work. Here's a quick look at the improved interface for the mass composer system that was released.

So far the mass composer is working great and players really enjoy it. We want to streamline it more so that it's more visually appealing and add increased functionality. This is the prototype I've come up with and sent to our web designer. Can't give an exact estimate but we should have some of the improved functionality released to players in the next week in addition to other new features that are currently on the development table.

Is that $0.05 US, CAD, RUR ect?

Sorry - all prices I reference will be in USD. Bad habit of mine when discussing currencies I always convert to USD for my math.

Our goal is to make sure there's always a healthy margin between the paypal price and the exchange price both to avoid constant adjustments being done and to make sure that investors and traders have a reason to use exchanges. The paypal option is there for convenience but is by no means intended to be a replacement for exchanges. We make the assumption that those who plan to spend significant amounts of money (say more than 25-50$ at a time) will prefer to use exchanges due to the increased number of jewels they can get for their money. That's one of the reasons we dont offer any pack larger than 100$ and dont offer any steeper bulk discounts through the site.

The secondary reason for the gap in price is to ensure that when we do buybacks to replenish the paypal fund that we're not as much at the mercy of the market and its fluctuations.

<Edit>

For those asking - yes I did just make a yobit act for the trollbox. Not an impostor with my nick.

Devs, is it possible to get a live price ticker for the cost of jewels when bought with paypal. Now that bittrex finally woke up and listed jwl it would be good to have that information. Because truthfully we should be trading at about 5% less then your sell price but without a ticker most traders wont know the real world cost of jewels and will be trading blindly.

The price of jewels with paypal is set at .05/Jwl. That will be adjusted if/when the price of jewels on exchanges passes it. We want to avoid having to constantly change the amount of jewels players get and also avoid capping the price of jewels on exchanges. We'll be keeping an eye on the price now that it's hit bittrex if we see it getting too close consistently we will look at doing a price change on jewels thru the paypal option.

From a player perspective it's very disconcerting opening the shop one day and getting less for your dollar so we try to keep it as static as possible on our side. If they want to risk the rise and fall of the price of currency they can use the various exchanges linked from our shop page to purchase externally to load up their game account.

How do I sell the things I find ingame for jewels ?

This is something that will be coming soon. For a 'quick fix' we'll be adding a item to the jewels shop so players can turn jewels into an in-game tradable item. When that item is used it credits those jewels to whoever used it. It's not an overly elegant solution but it allows people to trade jewels between characters in-game. That's something we'll be adding this week.

EG: You'll buy a "Bag of 100 jewels" from the shop and you can trade that item in game between players, sell it for in-game currency and then the person who buys it can right click it to gain 100 jewels to their account.

In the longer term (next month or two, depends on the gambling games mostly) we are working on a jewels marketplace where players can buy/sell/trade items and jewels.

EXCHANGE NEWS

We are officially listed on Bittrex now.

Very long day but we're thrilled to announce our integrated cash shop is now live. Players may purchase or spend jewels inside the game without having to leave to go to our website.

We've also introduced a "mass composition" system so players can turn their mix-matched +1 items they've found from monsters into standardized + stones that can be used on any type of item. Obviously some of the item's power is lost in this transition but it makes for a much more user friendly experience because they dont have to waste as much time managing their interface.

At the same time we've also added a larger button that's much easier for players to see to access our live support system from inside the client.

Just a quick heads up that today marks 1 week online for heroes and we're already at 60 concurrent users in game. Growing nicely! We have a new set of video ads being finalized which will be launching in the next day or two.

Great news Chris - keep it up! Any ETA on the first gambling games (not exact date of course just like maybe how many months are we away from this? ).

For sure! So our rough estimate was to have something ready to show off within a month of the Heroes launch (not necessarily open to public but a working prototype that we could get some people testing) with the full launch aimed within 2 months of Heroes being live.

Right now we've brought in a statistician to double check all our gambling math to make sure we're not introducing any issues and our average payouts are accurate (running simulated results is all well and good but having the extra math check is always useful). We're in the process of reviewing artist applications and have at least 2 artists working on 'trial basis' and based on the results of their first project will ideally be moved into working on the rest of the art for the games.

The design document for the first 4 gambling games is completed and we've also discussed the projects in depth with a number of unity developers. At this stage it sounds like I'll be doing the unity work but it's good to have them as fallbacks if I am busy with other projects. I also have finished setting up the core template for the game (the game environment and some base classes to handle all the spinning and button pushes and interface logic needed for the games).

Our main bottleneck was URL based authentication. Now that it is completed from working on the in-game jewels shop it will mean we can start pushing forward on the games themselves in the next couple of weeks.

If I was Chris and had the database he had the site would have 5k players on the first day all spending money.

The game would be literally unplayable with that many players. A 'active' server should expect a few hundred players online at any given time. As soon as you approach the 1k to 1.5k mark the game design itself falls apart both from the size of the game world (not enough space to go around between players) and the client itself isn't capable of rendering properly without things grinding to a halt.

Those are client and core limitations of the original game, nothing to do with the server architecture. The solution to that is to roll out servers in different regions and is totally doable and is something we've planned from day 1. We plan to release the NA server at the same time as our first expansion pack launches.

we were supposed to have lots of people playing heroes because of Chris's previous users from apex, heroes been out for a while but it only has 40 players playing, that's pretty sad[/b] for someone who has such a big database of previous conquer players when even he Chris himself is saying they are the only ones he wants to market to because they play the game ra ra ra. But with his list of 30k conquer players he only converted 40 players

The game is growing at a very steady rate and is doing quite well. So far we have 400 characters created since the server launch and are at 40+ CCU at any given time.

A good end goal for a project like heroes is to hit 300-500 CCU which is something we'd expect to accomplish within 6 months of launch. Growth beyond that point becomes much harder because there are less and less players with previous knowledge to bring in and your conversion rate drops drastically. Very few people are going to research a game of this age from start to finish if they have no past experience or knowledge of it. The exception is those who already have friends playing the game who invite them and are willing to teach them a thing or two about how it works.

Heroes is a a first use case only. It's an project that's already launched and creates a consistent demand for jewels and as we add more features will become more accessible. In its current state though it is not something any non conquer player would want to play. I would expect once we have the Jewels Marketplace and or the Jewels gambling games released to see much larger expansion OUTSIDE of the conquer community.

I'm saying this from both experience and understanding regarding the game and its community - we're focusing the audience that actually knows how the game works and wants to play it. Those are the people who act as vectors for further advertisement as they will be online consistently and are able to help new players who join the game, will advertise to their friends and will be active in events and tournaments so that when new players join the game they aren't simply dropped into a hostile environment with no information on how to proceed.

Sorry but it's hard to believe anything you say. I agree the thread is getting jacked by speculators wanting to hype the coin. Just my opinion, nothing personal.

I come from crypto community but have played games like Diablo 1,2,3 and UO (ultima online) and I can say that the game has been pretty difficult to play IF you haven't played it before. But several times I have been in game and asked a question and most of the time Pro4Never would be there to answer it. Not brown nosing, just the truth.

It makes sense to me to keep marketing to people who would actually play the game, last night when I was playing there was two guys talking back and forth and one of them mentioned buying 1000 jwl worth of in game items. Makes sense to get the guys in that have played before and will buy stuff rather than crypto speculators who could care less about the actual in game stuff.

Definitely remember speaking with you in game a few times, glad to see you continuing to log in and hang out with us!

As you've mentioned it's a bit different of a style of games compared to others and not necessarily something that's easy to dive into. The more core players we can attract who already are familiar with the game and the community the easier it will become for people like you. It means more players wearing the Helper/Moderator tag to answer questions and guide people around. It means more articles written on our wiki documenting how quests or game systems work. It means a more fun and active environment for those joining who arent sure what to expect and (possibly most important of all) it means them inviting their friends from their other communities.

I cant speak towards the advertisement background of ridewithme but saying that you should ignore trying to build the core community of a game project first is dangerous thinking.

bit - imagine if you joined the game and there was 100 players all in TwinCity who had no idea how the game worked. You've played similar games in the past but can you imagine how long a large group of such players would remain around if there was not already a solid and active foundation of knowledgable players to give them a guiding hand?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: (JWL) JEWELS 🔷MMORPG 🔷 ICO OVER 🔷 TRUSTED DEV 🔷 336 BTC RAISED! on: September 30, 2016, 09:09:06 PM
My 0.02$. Facebook ads suck and are just a  great way of wasting money and you need to listen to parthack and start focusing your marketing for the bread and butter of your project which is the investors.
The coin needs to be marketed.

Facebook is the only way to directly target players who have played conquer before which is the only market that we are going to be able to convert at any meaningful rate to players of the heroes project. Until the jewels games are ready and our jewels marketplace is released, there's not really anything for crypto users to be interested in in regards to advertisements.

Don't listen to whiners hoping you'll hype the coin to other altcoiners so that JWL will get a quick pump, your strategy seems absolutely sound and targeting people who'll actually play the game makes 1000 times more sense than what they're proposing. In fact a lot of the posts over the last two or three pages seem like nothing but barefaced attempts to manipulate the price. Is there a blog for JWL or anything like that where I could get just the news without having to wade through all the trader talk and fake sell offers?

Update logs for the game are listed on www.ConquerHeroes.com - we are currently posting an update every 1-2 days. Ideally we will be moving to a weekly patch schedule in the near future so we can pack more content into single updates and cause less downtime for players. Obviously with the server being new we've had a bunch of little tweaks to make (bug fixes, new content that passed testing phase and things like text fixes or balance changes).

We do have a steemit page (which will be updated this weekend) which contains both updates to heroes and project status.
https://steemit.com/@pro4never

Sadly steemit has been lite on updates. It's on our list to do a writeup of the status of the gambling games this weekend and we'll also include more info on the behind the scenes hero stuff for those who are more interested in the development side of things.

You don't seem to get it and you are negotiating with yourself, that's a big scary thought. Why would you make a stupid statement like "No one joining Heroes who has not played conquer before would have any interest in it" I never played conquer before, as many others on the forum who invested but we are all playing heroes. What makes us so different?

Why do you think you know what everyone in the world would or would not play?

Seems a bit egotistical to me.

The #1 market for projects like this is those who are nostalgic for the original game. We've proven time and time again that whenever we try advertising to wider groups (gamers from other communities or who have not played conquer before) it simply results in a huge headache for our support staff who are there to discuss account issues, bug reports and other such issues, not teach people how to play the game. That's not going into the abysmally low conversion rate of such advertisements. I think after over a decade of being involved in CO development, saying I have an idea of the type of people who plays these projects has been earned.
