21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Uncommitted transaction?? on: March 27, 2013, 07:45:04 PM
OK, so it will become available eventually?

I looked up the receiving address on blockchain.info and it shows the transaction but has a red button that says "Unconfirmed Transaction!" Just concerns me since it was suppose to be all set within an hour (and I paid a big premium for it...).
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Uncommitted transaction?? on: March 27, 2013, 07:23:22 PM
OK, I am new to bitcoin so please bear with me. Earlier today I tried to do a BitInstant payment of $500 to my deposit address on btc-e.com. I filled out the form, printed the sheet, got the money, went to CVS and went through the process. Shortly after, I can see the BTC that I am supposed to receive per the image below.

It's been stuck at this status almost 3 hours. What is the deal with these confirmations? Are they supposed to happen instantly? When will I have access to my BTC? Thanks in advance.

Yes no one really KNOWS if LTC will be on a  come up, we would all retire tomorrow if it was that easy.

I personally think you have it right about LTC being BTC silver. I'm going to PM you a little incite on my perspective instead of over running this thread with my mumblings  Tongue

Cool. Thanks. Yes, of course it is all about risk vs reward, but at the same time it's hard to shake the feeling we're on the cusp of something revolutionary.

Thanks for the reply and the link WishIStarted.

I still don't quite understand the point of Litecoin when BTC is already highly divisible but I guess it provides competition and maybe makes governmental tracking / bans even more difficult. What the hell I'll buy a couple hundred bucks worth.

I see most people dont know what value bitcoin has. My estimate is $1000 (for now) and i wont sell it cheaper. Period Smiley

This seems to be the problem with BTC's viability as a currency, at least in the short run.  I know all else being equal I'd rather part with moribund greenbacks than a rapidly appreciating asset like BTC. Just like I have no intention of spending my gold and silver bullion anytime soon as long as I have enough FRNs to meet my needs.

The smart ones will take this guys lesson and start buying into Ltc and other smaller currencies now when they are still easy to mine and cheap to buy. If they become anything like a BTC there will be serious money to be made.

Don't hold off and kick yourself in the arse again in a couple years!

How does one buy litecoin?

Is it available on mt. gox or some other exchange? (I used coinbase to get my BTC)

Why do you expect it to gain marketshare alongside BTC? Do you think it'll be like silver to BTC's gold?

Because obviously BTC is already highly divisible down to the 8th numeral or whatever.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Thank you for all the information. I will put it to use.

BTW, can you give a simple explanation of what PGP is and how to use it? And do you have any recommendations for related freeware? Thanks.

"The Economist" guy was stumbling a lot and I didn't quite get what he was trying to do there. In the end I didn't even understand what he wanted to say (half of his answers). While bitcoin guy was sure calm and sounded very reasonable. Cheesy

I agree, the Economist guy did not come off looking good as he stumbled through his less than convincing talking points. Trace Mayer was great even though he was cut out of the second half of the segment. I look forward to seeing more from people like him and Cody Wilson. One of the best things about BTC taking off is now there's a whole new class of wealthy young intelligence anti-establishment types like them. People who hopefully will be well-positioned to help lead the resistance to dystopian government.
