21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: We're in a bubble on: May 24, 2017, 08:03:56 PM
If Bitcoin is in a bubble, surely this is just the beginning. Regarding altcoins, it's complete madness.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you short cryptocurrencies? on: May 24, 2017, 07:48:59 PM
If you refer to the timing, there are no formulas. You simply have to identify the time when people are paying more than they should for something.
23  Economy / Economics / Re: First investments in bitcoins on: May 21, 2017, 10:39:58 AM
Try to do a deeper research on your investments, because ethereum has the same scaling issues that Bitcoin has, but ten times worse.
24  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do you convert cash to bitcoin anonymously? on: April 08, 2017, 04:17:49 PM
I know there are debit cards that allow, anonymously, to convert Bitcoin to fiat. But I do not know of any service that allows the reverse operation.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 08, 2017, 09:37:37 AM
Good questions. I'm not sure if that's the best way, such aspects make it seem a bit centralized, but perhaps not a design flaw. If the focus is usability, this seems to be necessary to make the system scale more efficiently.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Litecoin Inmediately. on: April 05, 2017, 03:47:09 AM
I don't think this will pump like some scam coins, but this is something good for the cryptocurrency. At least this will not be dumped quickly and fall into oblivion.
27  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is it really safe to use Electrum? on: April 05, 2017, 03:38:16 AM
I'm still studying their system, but it's probably a lot better than storing in exchanges or online wallets. If you do not already have a hardware wallet, that might be a good option until you get one.

What might be a good option until i get a hardware wallet ? Confusd??
Electrum and a few others desktop wallets. But as you said, I have to study this more deeply, to know which is the best.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Giving up gambling is not easy on: April 05, 2017, 02:47:35 AM
It's probably something that requires a lot of discipline and willpower, but I do not think it's that difficult. As long as you know to immediately recognize the limitations of this game, and the consequences of staying in it for too long, your mind will be able to make a greater effort to keep you away from it.

30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: April 03, 2017, 02:09:39 PM
I think the great thing about altcoins is that they demonstrate that if governments tried to stop Bitcoin, they would only bring more trouble as people would pay more attention to the alternative blockchains.
31  Economy / Economics / Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter? on: March 19, 2017, 09:04:27 PM
I think at the moment most people use Bitcoin as a way of storing value, so I think that for most people it matters because nobody wants to see their own holdings falling in price.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Egad. 81,000 + Transactions Unconfirmed. Again. Ugh! on: February 22, 2017, 07:29:53 AM
Finally! The tool worked for me, thanks @Slark and others
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Egad. 81,000 + Transactions Unconfirmed. Again. Ugh! on: February 22, 2017, 06:26:38 AM
Yep, I have two unconfirmed transactions.  I actually bought something online with bitcoin, and now it's not going to ship until my payment makes it through the blockchain.  Fuck this.  It would have been SOOOOO much easier to pay with a debit card.  This is the absolute LAST TIME I spend bitcoin.  If anyone is wondering why bitcoin will fail as a currency, it's this.
Not only you. More than 24 hours here... This is killing us.
Actually I bought special games bundle from G2A.com today for BTC.
I gotta say that my purchase was confirmed within couple minutes (they are using BitPay to process their BTC transactions).
So when you include hefty amount of fee there is no problem with unconfirmed transactions - it is unfortunately a workaround rather than solution for the problem.

Also, if your transaction is stuck - you can use Transaction Accelerator to push it: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/
I was caught in the middle of the storm... Three transactions on the same day. Thanks for pointing out this tool, I hope it works.

35  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it profitable to run a Bitcoin faucet in 2017 on: February 15, 2017, 11:39:44 PM
Considering the large number of faucets in circulation, I think any user willing to learn would be able to make one, but I think the biggest problem will be with marketing. You will have to use a good marketing strategy, so that your website stands out from the rest.
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'd like to get some bitcoins. Is now a good time to do so? on: February 01, 2017, 06:27:11 PM
I think that if you seek for a good long-term investment, it may be a good opportunity, but in the short term I'm not sure... The price could fall tomorrow, or the next day... In this case it's best to make your own research and draw your own conclusions.
37  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You only lose if... on: January 16, 2017, 04:14:13 AM
thinking it will get to $2000 by mid February as someone has predicted so whether I hold or I sell
Where was the prediction coming from? You will be seeing the fact about the Chinese FUD will keep the price of bitcoin is stable ASAP.
I think the FUD will continue because there are people trying to make money out of it. But the fact is that the price of Bitcoin is increasingly difficult to be controlled by a small group of people. The market is much larger, there is a greater trading volume and there are many exchages working seriously, so that events like those that happened a few years ago, in the time of Mt. Gox, become more difficult to happen again.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: January 05, 2017, 05:02:17 PM
Really today the price of GByte is really increasing so it means byteball is getting lot user base continuity in the markets.I see there is some good things happening in byteball coin just not like pump and dump, this should be happen every time so that many people keep an eye on this. It's better for byteball to list in some more exchanges so that big whales will trade this.

seing it only on a small random exchange with really questionable distribution and someone saying it cant be a p&d i would say we surely have a pump and dump here.
I think the method of distribution will always raise discussions, but there's probably not much to be done at this point, most of the suggestions I see would not make things better.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 05, 2017, 04:41:17 AM
I did not say the distribution was unfair.

I simply stated that the rules for the distribution of remaining coins are unknown and they depend on one entity. If it was a multisig or foundatiuon, it would not be better. It is still one priviliged group of people who can decide on the future distribution parameters.  This is a distribution without clear rules.

With good coins you can see the rules that were set in stone from the beginning. Subsequent changes (for example in mininig subsidy) were possible but a large consensus was necessary, most miners had to agree etc.

I I were tonych I would not give the funds to multisig. Too dangerous. He can lose control, he can get under pressure from people who only pretend interest. It is his creation.

Instead he should improve the rules of the future distribution, make them finite and follow them to the letter. The undistributed coins should be frozen in an address where anybody can see them.

It is unfair, it is the game of lisk, waves and iconomi, let this coin die, the most unfair distribution I have seen, normal investors got almost nothing.

waves sold their coins at very low price
Iconomi keep the coins for long term investment wich is a extra plus for BB , read more about their project.
lisk dunno...

what is the problem... will be more coins for free.  cheers

And let's not forget Komodo. They say they are in it for the long run:

is it true that komodo funds have been used to participate in the byteball distribution? if so, will we see some of that?
Byteball looks like a promising technology and we consider it as a long term investment. We will use the byteballs for working capital.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you know when to stop? on: December 29, 2016, 11:06:57 PM
Theoretically we don't know when to stop, but experienced players will know this, especially they have bad luck on 10 losses in a row, or short of fund.

Some addicted gamblers stop when they busted, that is terrible, if we can't controll bankroll very, we should avoid gambling
Stopping when you lost your entire bankroll is the sign of an inexperienced gambler or of someone addicted to it, you cannot allow that because back in the mind of the player will be thought like, if I could keep playing then I could get my money back, and that is very dangerous for your economic well being.
Acting that way would show signs not just of someone inexperienced, but also very greedy. It is necessary to remove of scene these two problems, inexperience and greed, in any situation where you are putting money, be it in investments, games or whatever.
