21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 380 along with 570 on: June 19, 2017, 02:44:08 PM
If its doable, don't mix them, as the drivers for R9 and RX is a bit different.
Windows might work ok with small issue. Linux might not work .
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining Stability? Win Server or Debian/Ubuntu? Undervolt, overclock experience? on: June 19, 2017, 12:07:55 PM
Well, what's your opnion on those?

I used to mine Monero using both Win Server OS and Debian,
Windows 10 driver works normally for server os, performance were same for Win and LInux.
Generally Debian requires a lot less maintenance work compared to the windows side.
That was without undervolting, overclocking.

How well is the Claymore miner handling with undervoliting/overclocking under Windows Server and Debian/Ubuntu?

Any experience?

Mining Rig's stability plays a big part in this, less maintenance work means more profit $$$

Also while first booting up, it retries five time to connect to server, will that be a issue?
Read one post up Tongue

Yep got it.

I realize I might have put in incorrect parameters for the Claymore miner to overclock/control those cards, I'll remove all those parameters and reboot later to see how it goes.

Hi Admin,

Thanks for the great work!

Just tried it on my new rig building, it's
Asrock X58 Extreme, with three RX 480 8GB, BIOS Strip mode 1725 timing copied to 2000

However it seems with simlemining os, one of the card is showing as faulty and constantly crashing restarting the miner.

Here's photo showing the fault problem:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5sokgo0759uboxo/1.jpg?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2ztre8e6oqowol/2.jpg?dl=0

however they do work fine under Windows.

Also while first booting up, it retries five time to connect to server, will that be a issue?

Back to windows for now.

R9 290 390 is good, however they do use 2 or 3 times of power compared to the RX 4 and 5 series, while dual mining.
I have several R9 390, just thinking sell them while the price is high, as they use too much fuel
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best gpu for mining ? on: June 18, 2017, 11:28:24 PM
Those Radeon RX 480 8GB with Samsung ram,

easily 31.1Mh/s, while dual mining Sia like 550 Mh/s, and it only pulls around 120W, stays 69 degree.

Need one with Dual fans. those reference card, will have heating issue due to only have one fan

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I Convert the SATA power to 6 PIN PCIE for the GPU? on: June 18, 2017, 11:39:12 AM
OK, I did some research,
                           Maximum current   Maximum wattage
SATA's 12V,            4.5A,                        54WW
4PIN Power 12V,     5A,                           60W
6 PIN PCIE,            2.038*3=6.114A       75W
8 PIN PCIE,            4.167*3=12.501A     150W

So
One SATA to 6 PIN is a bit short but can work if it is the only power source for GPU;
One 4PIN is good for 6 PIN even single; dual 4 PIN to 6 PIN would be better;
Two 6 Pin is just good enough for one 8PIN.

It will depend the GPU's power requirement, just don't overload the source.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can I Convert the SATA power to 6 PIN PCIE for the GPU? on: June 18, 2017, 11:23:41 AM
Hi there,
just wondering if it is ok to conver the SATA power to 6 PIN PCIE?
Will there be a voltage /current issue for doing so?

I won't powering a GPU with just one such converted source, as SATA power is only good for up to 75W. I want to use the converted one as the 2nd 6 PIN PCIE power for the GPU. We know most dual 6 PIN GPU can work with only one cable connected, but that cable will run hot. I just want to distribut/balance the power used over two cable.

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Getting 7 new Asus GeForce GTX 1060 Dual OC 3GB tomorrow, need advice on: June 17, 2017, 12:49:42 PM
Guess 3GB is good till March - April 2018 before the DAG size increse.
Yep, the network hashrate going to doubled in the following days.
But anyway, mining is also fun otherthan investment.

Is Asus GeForce GTX 1060 Dual OC 3GB any good?
All shops started hike up 1060 price now, this one's cheapest at the moment, around $228 each.

OC Mode - GPU Boost Clock : 1809 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1594 MHz
Gaming Mode (Default) - GPU Boost Clock : 1785 MHz , GPU Base Clock : 1569 MHz
CUDA Core   1152
Memory Clock   8008 MHz

What hashreate you got why solo mining on Ethereum?
What OS/miner's best for Nvidia CUDA?

I expect around 164 Mh/s wtih overclock?

Help with bios modding and improving hash rate for MSI Radeon RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC
Hi there,

I got a new MSI RX 570 Armor 4GB to play with.
Product 113-V34121-F3
BIOS MSITV341MH.5E2
Device Id:   1002 67DF
Subsystem Id:   1462 341A

(Other BIOS version available:
113-V34121-X3
113-MSITV341MH.5E1
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/191539/191539 )

Stock got 21.5Mh/s

So I backuped the original BIOS,
opened that with PolarisBiosEditor, since this is Hynix RAM, I copied Memory Timing from the sets
2:1500 to
2:1625
2:1750
2:2000
Save and flash.
Patched Pixel.
Reboot.

Fired MSI Afterburner to overclock the GPU RAM to 2000MHz.
I can verify the ram frequency has jumped to 20000Mhz in GPU-Z and Afterburner.

However the Claymore Dual Miner hashrate didn't increase, it dropped to 19Mh/s.

Close Afterburner and using parameters to tell Claymore miner to overclock the ram instead, same.

Suspect that I might have edited the wrong timing sets.

So I open the original backup bios, copied timing from the sets
1:1500 to
1:1625
1:1750
1:2000
and
2:1500 to
2:1625
2:1750
2:2000

Now the timing looks like this:

Manufacturer:   MSI
Model:   RX 570

Reboot.

Same results.

Any thoughs?

OS is Windows 10, driver is downloaded from the MSI website for this card, which is
radeon 17.1.1, 17.6.1 no difference

basically I did the exact same thing as this tutorial
dont know why it's not working.
I do got my RX 480 work via bios mod and overclock the ram .,

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ZEC][ETH][XMR][EXP][GRS]Reliable DwarfPool- Anonymous, failover worldwide on: June 17, 2017, 12:09:39 PM
Nice pool.

Thanks for it.

Question:

Q about ether pool, my worker's Calc Mh/s seems always higher than the Sent Mh/s,
what does ths mean, any problem with ths?
It's like
Claymore reported combine would be 205Mh/s (which is about the total of Worker Sent Mh/s).
But the Current Approx speed is 238Mh/s, which is the total of Worker Calc Mh/s I believe.
I'm using Claymore's dual miner.

Is there a way to see if I have stale shares while mining ethereum on your pool?
Is stale share useful here at Dwarfpool, like for getting some uncle rewards maybe?

From FAQ:

- Miner freezes if I put cursor to its window in Windows 10 until any key is pressed. Sometimes miner freezes randomly until any key is pressed.
You should make some changes in Windows:

You are true legend!

I shall spend time and read all the FAQ

Claymore Dual Miner Windows version + Windows 10 + Dual Mining Sia From Miningpoolhub, Receipt For Miner Hang

The program will stuck ,console not updating,  every one or two hour.

If I set automatically reboots via -r 1, it doesn't reboots automatically,
I have to press enter on the miner,
then it says SC the connection timed out and will go ahead to reboot.

The same thing happens on both of my windows 10 rigs.

Linux version, with miningpoolhub, never had such problem.

Is this known problem?
It is wired connection.

Is that overclocked?

It's undervolted but not overclocked, this might be the issue, will try.
Checked the log, it does say

1e0   checkread timeout

and hang, what does this error msg mean?

Hi Claymore,

Is  your miner compatible with eth-proxy?
Or with the Stratum mode, there's no benifit using eth-proxy anymore?
