201  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and not Paying Taxes on: January 13, 2018, 05:44:43 AM
If a country requires payment from bitcoin profits, then there is no way out. You have to pay tax or it will end badly.

Yup that's true! However, where I come from they haven't exactly established or formed something with regards to the handling and taxing of Bitcoin that is why when we convert our Bitcoin to fiat, we don't have to pay any tax yet. We do not have any laws pertaining to it as illegal and no regulations as well that says it is legal, so I guess we are also in a confused and just go with the flow situation. Due to this, we don't know where to declare our earnings from Bitcoin so we don't know how much of the tax we owe.
202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could we expect more years like "2017"? on: January 12, 2018, 07:36:22 AM
As I always say, the future of Bitcoin is looking bright despite all the corrections and negative feedback about this cyprtocurrency. We all know that the demand for it has continually increased and with that, we could expect more years like 2017 and even years that could have better results than what we had in 2017. 2017 is just the beginning pf Bitcoin making an impact, the following years would definitely exceed all our expectations.
203  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-1-11] South Korea plans to ban Bitcoin - BBC on: January 11, 2018, 10:20:34 PM
...wow that's sad. I never thought South Korea would take the China route, especially with the news that they were cooperating with Japan and China for regulations. This is a huge blow given how South Korea is one of the biggest crypto markets. Then again, China was too, and we survived that. This is probably going to cause less of an impact than that. What's unclear though, is whether or not this is permanent. They raided exchanges for tax evasion, so they may just want to curb the growth while they form tax plans and the like.

This is not yet the final direction because the Ministry of Finance (or a similar agency I am not so sure) is not backing the idea of banning cryptocurrency trading maybe they feel that South Koreans will anyway get involved with this industry no matter if they go for a ban and that the government will end up as the loser in terms of possible tax revenues. What the government should do is to strengthen its tax laws and implementation so that everybody is paying the appropriate taxes. We are hoping that cooler heads and more rational approach would prevail in the end.

I agree with iamTom123. I don't understand why South Korea thinks Bitcoin brings great concern. Maybe its because they don't have appropriate control over it but I think they should see the usage of Bitcoin as an opportunity rather than a threat or a concern to the country as Bitcoin can actually work to improve economic growth. It's sad to see one of the most innovative and progressive country deny development for the betterment of the future.

205  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will bitcoin go? on: January 11, 2018, 09:50:52 AM
It's truly saddening to see Bitcoin rates go down or on the low edge of its value compared to what it has reached last year. I really thought that after the holidays its rates would near its remarkable rate of almost $20,000, but I was wrong. Bitcoin is truly unpredictable but let's not lose our hope that it can regain a greater rate. As sad as it may seem, I feel like its value would reach $10,000 or even a lower rate before it rises again. This is a sign for us to be just patient and seize the opportunity to purchase more for investments.
206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble closer than you think? on: January 11, 2018, 06:37:36 AM
How close? This year? Next year? 2020? Doesn’t matter. Crashes are part of every currency. Some people are waiting for this so that they can buy at rock bottom prices.

What Nilda said is true, every currencies experience a crash and this is normal. What makes Bitcoin different than other currencies on the other hand is that its peak shares a directly proportional relationship with its crash. This means that when Bitcoin reach greater heights, its crash can be devastating and with people being used to having high valued Bitcoins, they tend to label it as a bubble when it declines. I think this is unfair because we all know that dealing with Bitcoin meands dealing with volatility and uncertainty. As Nilda said, if Bitcoin rates are low we should take this as an opportunity to buy more as this will definitely be worth it in the long run.
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you want to Buy with Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2018, 12:58:05 AM
2018 will definitely be the year of focusing in earning Bitcoins for me. As I graduate soon, I want to be able to do investments that deals with cryptocurrencies for the returns will definitely be promising. It is through this type of venture that I get to earn something with great and multiplying value. When I get to earn enough (which I think will take more time), I want to be able to buy my own land and build my house on it. Also, I want to start a build and sell business with my Bitcoin earnings because I am an aspiring civil engineer. With a construction business in the industry and an investment in the cryptocurrency world, my economic stature would hopefullu be stable which could allow me to live a comfortable life.
208  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price of bitcoin increase forever? on: January 10, 2018, 03:30:12 PM
This is definitely something that we would all look forward to and be happy about since it will bring in profits that may multiply exponentially in value, however the sad thing is that I think Bitcoin would not increase forever. Bitcoin is incorporated with unpredictability and and uncertainty which is why we should expect its rate being volatile all the time; meaninh there will be times that it will be high and times that it will be low. This just goes to show how Bitcoin won't increase forever due to its volatility feature.
209  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-09]Jamie Dimon: ‘I regret’ calling bitcoin a fraud on: January 10, 2018, 08:49:21 AM
So even Jamie Dimon made an impressive U-turn and ends up coming back to his bold and ignorant statement earlier. This only demonstrates that even bitcoin's biggest critics are slowly but surely becoming converts themselves. I agree that ico's need to be reviewed though since it's a business like any other except for the fact that they create their own cryptocurrency and are funded by crypto.

This just goes to show how Bitcoin has proved everyone wrong by labelling it a fraud or a scam. I guess people don't really take into account or even consider understanding the concept of cryptocurrency and how valuable it can be in the long run. I am glad that someone as credible as Jamie Dimon had the guts to admit that he was wrong and is actually doing his part of researching and studying about Bitcoin. For someone as big as him to take back what he said about Bitcoin can make an impact towards the views of people and actually take this venture seriously.
210  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Has anyone sold BTC won here in sig campaigns? how does tax work? on: January 10, 2018, 06:11:28 AM
As of now, the regulations towards Bitcoin is still not properly established here in my country which is why when having Bitcoins exchanged for cash, it is not taxed yet. I have not heard a situation where someone who sells their Bitcoin for cash has been taxed. I guess the bank only gets curious when the amount exchanged is more than hundred thousands, but with withdrawing from time to time in ample ampunt, it seems that there are no problems encountered.
211  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think bitcoin redistributes wealth or just makes the wealthy richer? on: January 10, 2018, 02:37:52 AM
Like any other currency, bitcoin is not redistributing wealth to the common mass. However it has given an immense opportunity to the educated and tech-savy mass. People who are good with computers can still earn bitcoins or other currencies by providing various service to the crypto community. But that doesn't necessarily mean fair distribution is happening. Only people with a certain set of qualities are eligible to earn it. So it is giving that particular set of people a chance to live a decent life but not to all levels of society.

I agree with avikz. Despite the easy accessibility towards Bitcoin considering how everybody is aware of the cyberworld, redistribution of Bitcoins is not occuring as the knowledge towards this platform is still not diverse and established formally. As avikz said, Bitcoin allows opportunities for the users of Bitcoin and I think no matter how late you discovered Bitcoin, you can still benefit from it. The fact that the structure of Bitcoin can be quite complex and hard to comprehend limits the people who can acquire it making the situation favorable for those who are more interested in these types of ventures.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much bitcoin do you need now to be a millionaire? on: January 09, 2018, 09:33:14 PM
Right now, I only have a fraction of a Bitcoin which makes me far from being a millionaire considering that the rates have been very low lately compared to the past month. Although far from being a millionaire, I've always said that in investing In Bitcoin, you have a certain goal to achieve and for mine is to have enough to live sufficiently and comfortably. So I guess in the future, having 10 would be more than enough. I still have a long way to go but I know it will all be worth it.
213  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-1-9]Harvard Professors Predict Bitcoin Collapse Due to .... on: January 09, 2018, 02:22:13 PM
Knowing that he is a professor from a prestigous school, there is no doubt that he is reliable and what he said is truly valid. The professor gave some good point but i think what he said is just a possibility and not yet a fact. From what I understood, he is saying that Bitcoin is a bubble. There are certain situations where Bitcoin could justify being a bubble bit it really is just because of its volatility. This is why Bitcoin should establish its structure well for there are many misconceptions about it. With more studies and research, maybe people would truly understand what Bitcoin is.
214  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin Experience More Price Volatility in 2018? on: January 09, 2018, 09:52:47 AM
Bitcoin will always be volatile, it's an aspect that gives Bitcoin its identity. It's been a week since 2018 started and as we can see, Bitcoin rates hasn't been stable in a sense that its rate varies from time to time.It will be high at a certain time then it will have a steep decline at another minute. The reason for this is unknown or there might not be any reason for it at all but this just goes to show that the volatility of Bitcoin can be extreme at times. This is expected and we should just put its volatility into good use for our benefits.
215  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC 70k end of 2018. on: January 09, 2018, 04:32:45 AM
BTC will go up 20.000$ in 1 month.
Price will be 70 k end of 2018.
now I do not see anything bright in Bitcoin. they need to solve the delay is the number of transactions and fee choking natural growth in bitcoin with slow speed and transaction fee to pay for a transaction is too large, Bitcoin will not be able to compete with other payment methods such as paypal ... so I think 70 k $ is not satisfactory. waiting

There is little resistance at this time, there may be some decrease in the level of trust. Currently, transaction delays have become a very significant problem. unconfirm the transaction that could make some people distract from Bitcoin, but there are still alternatives such as altcoin. Altcoin we can use as an option when Bitcoin is experiencing problems, it is worth noting that exchange who receive Altcoin must be able to provide services such as withdrawing to real currency. But again that Bitcoin can not grow and get a bright future when some problems have not been resolved properly.

I couldn't agree more with BlackPanda. The transaction fees and transaction duration has been a deal breaker for Bitcoin recently making alt coins more favorable. The rise of Bitcoin also has been gradual and slow lately which is why I feel most people are losing interest on it. As BlackPanda pointed out, if problems are yet to be resolved, the growth of Bitcoin would be affected immensely. We should learn how to value it and use it appropriately.

With regards to Bitcoin reaching a $70,000 rate at the end of 2018, I have to say that ot is still too early to tell. With the unpredictability in trend and its rate, anything can still happen in a matter of seconds. Uncertainty is really prevalent when it comes to Bitcoin rates.
216  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time for Bitcoin to shine again on: January 08, 2018, 02:00:02 PM
Bitcoin rates are currently experiencing a steep drop, but let's not fear! After all this decline, Bitcoin will definitely outshine all those alts and gain dominance. We just have to remember that everything we are experiencing are temporary and same goes to the alts: their reign are definitely temporary and soon Bitcoin will regain its position.
217  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-01-07] Another Weekend Full of Delayed Bitcoin Transactions on: January 08, 2018, 12:18:27 PM
It cannot be avoided as people are now taking advantage of the high prices. Since Bitcoin recently recovered from its recent decline, people got the chance to transfer and sell their Bitcoin to other forms of currency which caused a lot of transactions to build up in the blockchain. I personally have a transaction still on hold for more than 2 days now even if I gave a generous network fee. Hopefully the lightning network will be able to solve the problem involving both the time and cost.
218  Economy / Economics / Re: How bitcoin can help for working abroad specially OFW on: January 08, 2018, 11:18:02 AM
Knowing how flexible Bitcoin can be with the help of wallets such as coins.ph, sending money to your loved ones has made to be more convenient for OFWs due to the fact that coins.ph allows wallet to wallet transfer without deducting any transaction fees. By this aspect alone, OFWs can assure that what they worked hard for would go directly to their families and not be finished on transaction fees alone. Bitcoin is also the gift that gives on giving. The growth of it can allow sending of greater value or can even be turned into an investment to assure the financial sake of a family.
219  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will bitcoin hit $20,000 on: January 08, 2018, 06:31:41 AM
Answering this question is quite hard. We all remember how Bitcoin reached $20,000 unexpectedly last month. Everybody thought that reaching $18,000 was already remarkable but when it reached $20,000, Bitcoin continued to exceed everyone's expectation. If the rates continue being good without any disruptions, it looks like we will reach $20,000 pretty soon. Hopefully all goes well. We all know how unpredictable Botcoin can be and sometimes there are no reasons for its movement. We just have to continue believing and soon enough it will come through.
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's going on with the price today? on: January 07, 2018, 04:41:22 PM
Bitcoin prices are still on the range of $16,000. As of what I've observed today, it was playing in the high range of $16,000 but sadly did not reach $17,000. It may have been stable on the same range but we should look into the positive aspect of this and that is it is actually gradually increasing. Maybe we give it a little more time until Bitcoin fully recovers, but overall the rate looks promising and I think we should keep holding on to what we have as sooner or later it would truly be worth it.
