201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 10, 2013, 02:02:17 AM
I just hope 100GHS is stlil enough to be a player in the game come the end of October when our unit is proposed to ship. Anyone? Also, slightly off topic again, what's the best profitability calculator you've used, or do you have your own?

Predictions on the next difficulty level, it has to happen very soon, or now, doesn't it?

Smiley

next difficulty level (+30% in 4 days) : http://allchains.info

I think the best calculator is http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ but it has some issues...  u can take the info and put it in a spreadsheet then make custom tweaks...

The thing I have an issue with, is how the network speed impacts the difficulty level and our ROI, although, I'm presuming it's pretty easy. The more terra-hashes on the network, the quicker we reach increased difficulty levels, the less our machines can profit. So, I shan't be worrying too much about the network speed, rather just focus my calculations on the difficulty level alone?

Thanks,
J

I just used skype to initiate a conference call between myself, my mate in Toowoomba, and called KNC, and to my surprise, Andreas Kennmar answered the tele!
We didn't keep him on the tele for long, but we asked a few relevant Q's I'll share
The first Q was my asking him about the possibility of watercooling the miners. The short explanation is no, they won't be designed for it, but is slated for gen2
Are we on track with delivery?...  Yes, we're in front.
Power supplies final specs?  Not as of yet, but there will be a new spec announcement soon with recommendations.
 Grin

Man, KNC should give the info here directly but thanks for the update!

operador, that certainly sounds promising. Hope it's all the truth. Starting to think I should have ordered a bigger machine!

Can't wait to see news on units beginning to ship.

OP, does the $129 shipping fee cover shipping the unit(s) safely to Australia?

Are you on track with meeting your October / November shipping schedule?

Thanks,

Yes the $129 is for shipping, but remember you will be paying a 10% customs duty on the value of the goods at the time of purchase and another $50 customs fee on every package.

Also, remember that the customs duty is on the value of the goods at time of purchase so if the Australian dollar drops any more than you pay even more for duty.

Something I wasn't aware of, but should have known, thanks for the heads up, you're nickname really does say it all, in this case Wink

Damn customs! - Just as long as I get my package! Smiley
That's not quite accurate. The entire VAT will be at checkout. Customs doesn't make a business of holding packages "Hostage" for duty fees, as most international shippers require all that at checkout.

I hope your wrong about that. All I know is that I didnt pay any VAT at checkout. I already emailed KNC about customs declaration and they will be declaring the value of goods in USD at the time of purchase.

@Jemvz if you do order let us know, I'm organising local pickup in Stockholm for some Australian buyers, no fee, just cost of shipping.

@FUKT, I'm just looking at your figures, the machine is $2k not $25k, so I don't quite get your figures? I just had a look at your customs link and saw the following table:

Example 3: An importation of goods (other than tobacco products or alcoholic beverages) valued above A$1000
A$

Customs value (Cval)

2000.00

Customs duty (Duty) @ 5% of Cval

100.00

(Payable)

International transport and insurance or postage (T&I)

150.00

Value of the Taxable Importation (VoTI) (Cval+Duty+T&I)

2250.00

Goods and Services Tax (GST) @ 10% of the VoTI

225.00

(Payable)

Total payable Duty + GST

325.00

* Therefore I would presume to have the item posted over would be $325 customs fee?

Feedback? I've placed the order but haven't paid in full, please bare with me while I get my head around this customs stuff and I'll get back to you on the offer of local pickup, thanks for offering too Smiley - Where are you based, may I ask?

I'm hedging my bets with KNC and ordering a Mercury Miner, by the time I get it, it'll probably be worthless. I'm just hoping the deliver on time. All depends how serious you are about it, really.

EDIT: I also hope they have a legitimate product to deliver...

I mined with 500-600 megahashes for a month about a month ago and got .3 of a coin so with increased difficulty and what not, I would say a long time? I was using Slush's pool, I gave up. I'm presuming you have a Block Erupter?
212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner list of orders on: August 06, 2013, 11:51:38 PM
Has anyone actually received confirmation of when they're unit will ship yet? I'm guessing we just get day or week numbers? What are the comments left on your orders by KNCMiner? Examples? I've placed an order, paying for it today. Hopefully I will still get it come November.

Hi All,

I'm considering throwing my money at a KNC 100 Gigahash Miner that chews 250w of power. According to profitability calculators online, it's still profitable here in Aus if we get the machines in time without extreme difficulty increases. This is also taking into consideration Australia's high price of energy, I used .50c as a guide - 30c kWh and the rest to cover any supply charges, etc.

Thoughts?
bolded the bit you are gambling on Wink

but there is also the value of BTC in time to consider
I was one of the crazy fools that mined unprofitably in AUS when BTC was $3ea but when price spiked and I sold some for >$200ea - well it felt pretty fine Wink

Lucky S.O.B Wink - Yeah well, I've been watching bitcoin for what seems like decades, only wish I'd acted sooner, if only. I've used all calculators in the world and from experience I think it'll still be profitable and yeah, the difficulty increases can't really be determined, but oh well. I'll only be $1500 out of pocket if the machine comes too late. I'm going all in...

Are you still mining Graet?
Good luck with it,
yeah running 2 Avalons and 2 FPGA atm Smiley

And still profitable obviously? Stupid question... Smiley

Thanks for the wishes, may I ask how many hashes you're pulling with the machines and many Watts they use all up?

All good if you don't want to answer and want to make me do ma own research Smiley

Melnik,

I understand this may not be the place to ask, but I checked shipping in the checkout screen and it has $129, I'm presuming that's not going to cover shipping safely to Australia? Do we get tracking and everything else and other options etc for shipping once orders are placed?

If I order now, what are my chances of receiving the unit in October/November?

Thanks,
Jeff

Wow, what a nightmare. Glad you got your coin! I don't think there's any way I would that amount sit anywhere in the BTC world, at this point in time.

Best of luck!

From my thread:

Any idea how much electricity cost the setup is per day/month?

My energy provider is ActewAGL, and my bill has 2 components: a flat fee of AUD$0.605 per day, plus AUD$0.179 per kWh. The rig draws 20W at most. So to run for thirty days is 30 days * 24 hours * 0.020kW * AUD$0.179 = AUD$2.58

.179 per kWh, I really have to change my energy provider, sh*t!

Thanks,

And off topic, has anyone actually seen, or felt a KNCMiner yet? I'm considering purchasing a Saturn unit from them. Although, tossing up between Bitfury and KNC, but leaning more towards KNC.

Cheers,

Hi All,

I'm using http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ to calculate profitability, but can't work out (feeling rather nooby) whether to enter the cost per kWh, I presume if I'm paying 30c per kWh, I would enter .30 in that field.

What is the best mining profitability calculator out there, taking into consideration rise in difficulty levels, etc?

Thanks,
Jeff
