201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: July 16, 2016, 05:11:57 AM
yeah thats what I am doing...
with firefox hitting ok, just says sending request which is the request to send the file but just times out
with chrome and IE when that starts the S5 stops mining as if it now knows a firmware update is coming but times out.
firefox that never happens.

very odd, never had something like this happen before, annoying cuz I want that newer manual fan control firmware installed.

Normally if you have a time out during a firmware flash it can be bad news... you really don't want to lose power, timeout, etc.  It can lead to a brick in some cases.   Not all but some will be bricked.

Honestly if it is giving you those issues I would leave it.   S5 miner's are really not quiet.   As far as comment above you should easily know if S5+ it is marked on it and has 3 of them.   I only had one of the S5+ but it was also a great miner.   But I think he is talking about a regular S5 from what I'm reading.
202  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Queries on S7 miner hardware on: July 16, 2016, 05:07:23 AM
Hi good days,
I have a few question about the S7 miner hope to get some help & guidance.

1. Does the S7 miner need break/rest time.? If run it for 24/7 how long can we keep on going like that.?

2. Does the APW3-12 bitmain power supply good enough or need to get different one.?

3. Anyone know the lifespan of S7 miner if run 24/7.?

I have one running since sept 2015
that is one of the first ones delivered so it can run for at least 10 months.
Keep it clean and cool I would think 2 years
p

4. Is there any other crypto currency that can S7 miner be used for.?

Those are some of the questions I can think of for now ...

Thanks for your advice & replies

I answered no. 3 above in blue

A good example of how long miner's can go is the S3 and S3+.  If treated well they keep on hashing, those with "free electricity" have done very well with them in  many cases as they keep working.  Yes you have to clean and use decent PSU's.  But they can have a very longspan.    I mean going back to stuff that no longer makes sense to mine with like asicminer blades, and usb sticks a lot of them still work longer then mining makes sense.

On PSU the APW3 will work fine with S7 and S9.    I have used it without any issues in my mining area.  I sold my S7's as it no longer made sense to mine for me.  And I kept my APW3's they work great with S9 which is great as I have already paid for them long ago.
203  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 16, 2016, 05:01:20 AM
So, I take it the price of S9 hasnt been corrected for halving yet? ... looks outrageously overpriced...

these new batches released after halving are still insanely priced way too high

+1 here too, I am just sat waiting to buy at the moment.

I wish you luck on this.  I think they may raise price to keep sales just slow or just fast enough.

So back to the s-5 against the sp20  as soon as they killed of the sp20 they raise price on the s-5 and slowed down growth.

I thought they would continue on like this with the s-7  but they were looking forward to the ½ they made the network grow like mad.. I thought they were stupid but now 400ph is dead gear and 800 ph is s-7 or avalon 6  close to dead.

No 1/2ing in site and they are the only one with .1 watt gear.

their best interest is to sell the s-9 at the highest price they can and limit growth of difficulty forcing out all the s-5's and below from now to sept or oct.  So if you ware waiting for a 1200 dollar s-9 it wont be for a while.

Barring the bitfury seling a .1 watt miner.

They literally killed SP on the S5 and SP20 pricing.  SP tried to compete and they claimed to be losing money at the end of it on SP20, don't know if truth in it.  But Bitmain won that without a doubt.

One thing to is they can also mine them their self's.  They don't have to sell every miner to user's like us they can keep some internal.  If it makes more sense to keep internal vs selling cheap i'm sure it will stay internal.   So I really don't know what to expect on price.  It is a interesting time I will say I'm happy Bitmain is selling to home/hobby miner's still.   If it was not for them I personally would not be mining currently as at my electricity S9 is only miner that really makes sense to mine as far as BTC goes.
204  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: July 15, 2016, 08:34:34 PM
The address posted by Marcotheminer couple of days moved funds https://blockchain.info/address/16pe2twTgrjKC8mioPjX3f2UbCMGvWbVz4
 to https://blockchain.info/address/3Lm5batBgm6HGzq3Z1pV2jcBwrai631Nsv

I guess it means we will be paid very soon . If you check the second address you will see that It send to our addresses from our profiles. (I doubt the funds are sufficient though since we didn't get paid for long time)

It would need to be more then that I think if it will cover entire sig campaign:

1) 7/4 - Unpaid
2) Coins_Bank Bonus mentioned - Unpaid (unsure of amount)
3) 7/11 - Unpaid

I know it will all get sorted out in the end.  But would really appreciate an update if possible.

On a side note it put me on first post of next page.  For those just joining yes first post is still correct.  If there is a spot that post will change. But as there is little turnover asking if there is a spot, or trying to apply in a post is not going to get you in campaign. (Hopefully this will spot a few post's... but I doubt it)
No New Spots!

I hope this information very useful for you for Android Application Purpose:

1. Bitcoin Core
2. Multibit
3. Electrum
4. Hive
5. Armory
6. Blockchain wallet.
7. Coinbase
8. Coinkite
9. Pi-wallet
10. Bitadress paper wallet

Thanks.BTC

I think you missed his first post on "very slow Internet user so i want use a wallet which can operate over a very slow network".  Downloading bitcoin core sounds terrible on a network like this.  He will want a light wallet that does not have to download blockchain.

Also as other's mentioned possibly a web wallet depending on amount is good as you are using them.   I would caution on web wallet's depending on how much you are storing in your BTC wallet.  Just additional risk with all hot wallet's.

I was able to setup my XAPO account

http://xapo.com

I can't seem to access moonbitcoin

Posting referral link's like that trying to get people to click on your referral is not allowed.  I removed it from quote and I bet moderators remove it from your post.   I suggest going to Meta and reading this list - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

Your's would fit in number 4 there.  So again it is not allowed on this forum.
207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Promote Newbie To Others Level.. on: July 15, 2016, 03:50:50 AM
just be active on posting and you can see your account progresses to next level without noticing it. Or you have another option you hire someone that will post every or buy an account with higher rank but i think this forum does not tolerate this kind of act since some people uses high rank account to scam someone.

Some will think I'm crazy that are just starting off but eventually you really just have to enjoy the forum's, your title... means some but there is so much more behind your account.   Not all account's are equal if you look at some accounts it obvious they have tried to jump up fast they will do post like "last music listened to", "Last drink drinked" and other crap off topic threads.

When you go for a "good" signature campaign they actually look at posts to see if you are spamming, crap posting, etc.  So a good signature campaign you will have a hard time if you just post like some have said.  Your post's need to actually have some substance or you likely are on your way to a ban.  If your goal of this site is to get paid... you again are likely on your way to a ban.

I find that those that look at signature campaign as a bonus vs reason to be on boards do much better in the long run.  At least in my opinion.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BRK Faucet on: July 15, 2016, 03:38:22 AM
No it is the new coin. So no Faucet are created.BTC

Even if there is... were talking small profit's being realistic.  They will pay a few cent's a hour in most cases of faucet's.  Even if the coin goes up 10x ... still talking rather small.   You are better off most likely to take a few real dollars and buy some coin's then spending all that time on faucet's.

That being said a lot of new coin's are pump/dump.   Looking at google... I'm not sure OP is not trolling possibly.  BRK coin appears to be - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1509819.msg15185942#msg15185942    I'm not sure I would bet on a coin so tied up in world of gambling.  Is there only 1 exchange it's on? Seems hard to find.
209  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie in Bitcoing mining-> need advicee to generate 50 to 100 US dollars/month on: July 15, 2016, 03:29:01 AM
You'll need to buy an ASIC, even with the most powerful GPUs today, you'll earn dust and negative profit. Heck, you'll probably wear the GPU out. Poor thing! For GPUs, try Ether, or if you'd like to buy an ASIC, try the S9. I suggest the S7-LN from Bitmain if you have cheap electricity- they're amazingly cheap and run pretty well for a beginner. Also ships with its own PSU, which you'll need for most all miners, but if you do buy it, replace the PSU. Lots of reports of 'em burning out recently. S3s are reliable miners as well and will only cost you about 65$ if you like learning, but overall, if you need profit, buy the S9.

We really need to know OP's electricity rate.   So hard to tell people what do on asic's without it at this point, just ROI is all over the board.  One thing to keep in mind even if you achieve the 50 to 100 USD per month that over time it goes down.   We can only speculate how fast it will happen, but it will go down.

On GPU you still go into it spending a decent amount.   It takes a decent GPU and most likely a open air system that you make.   You just don't see near as many miners using cases as it is so much easier to cool down with open air.   I do mine both Ether with GPU's and BTC with asic's.  I can say the asic's are kinda dummy proof at this point.   I find putting together a nice system with 5-6 card's to take more technical skill, and more tinkering most likely.   And yes that is just at start of GPU system this extra effort for the most part.
210  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Requirements for a small custom farm on: July 15, 2016, 03:17:16 AM
Hi folks,

I would like to know how many square feet should I be looking at if I decide to host 50x AntMiner S7? To narrow my search for a proper location, should I start with warehouse rentals? Please share your experience and insights as I am trying to work on a small business plan.

Thanks.
Depending on where you live, you might loose, especially with the upcoming block reward halving.
Bitmain is releasing the AntMiner S9 in batches. You may want to wait.

If you can't wait and do want to go with S7, make sure your power outlets and your neighborhood's supply can handle it. Worst case is that you may blow your neighborhood's transformer.
Check with your local power supplier and/or electrician if your wiring can handle it.

I think you missed the bolded part as he is trying to find a warehouse rental.  He is not actually mining at his home/owned location and is looking for a location.  So big difference there right away.  He can't really call in  electrician or power supplier as he does not know location he is wanting to rent at somewhere not picked yet.

I have a feeling he is thinking the location is going to be much cheaper then it actually is.  I think he will find out most warehouses do not have NEAR the power needed for 50 S7's and cooling.   And if he does find one that rent's and happens to have enough power the warehouse really needs to allow modifications.  As I have a feeling for  electrical and cooling modifications will need  to be made. Finding  all  of this cheap I don't think will be easy.

After a few days seeking in the city, yes, it's a tough job like you said Sad

I wish I was not kinda a buzz kill on it.  But everyone would have warehouses if it was easy/cheap.   I personally made a mining area on my family's farm, as it's owned by family I was able to get proper wiring, modify for cooling, etc.

There are lot's of warehouses that mention free electricity but they mean a small amount no where near the 50 you were wanting to do.   Even ones you pay for electricity most just are not set up for this amount of electricity.  That is why I mentioned finding one who even can handle it first as just that will be hard.

Then add modification for cooling and electricity... it becomes very very hard.  If your budget is big you could buy and do it but leasing is going to be hard I think and get what you want for decent price.
we do see this thing weekly, even where property is cheap and electricity is as well (like some African nations) there are plenty of other issues to overcome. Mining is not a thing that you can easily build a profitable farm, it is more luck than anything to meet all the requirements .

I think what leads to it is a lot want to get rich quick.  Nothing wrong with that motivation... just mining is not the way in most cases it happens.    There are a few cases of "free electricity" where yes they do earn quite quickly with old gear.  BUT those are pretty few at this point and most have a certain amount of electricity that is max they can do with "free electricity".

The fact is most places you will have a decent initial investment to  mine if you want to do it at a decent scale.   This is why hosting companies are so popular.   I do agree we see these thread's far to often though and at least weekly.
211  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 15, 2016, 03:07:22 AM
You guys realize that you're just trying to find rationalizations for your hobby/addiction/whatever you want to call it?  Grin

S5 at launch IIRC had a 200-day ROI at $0.10/kWh with a 2% diff growth. It managed to achieve and even exceed that because difficulty stagnated during most of 2015.

S9 now has a ~300-400-day ROI (depending on the batch) at $0.10/kWh with a 2% diff growth. So you are basically hoping that a similar scenario will happen again (bitcoin price crash, slow diff growth) and will last even longer.

Edit: actually it's ~500 days for batch 9. Insane.

But then some here are trying to say that Bitcoin price rise would somehow help ROI... it wouldn't. Higher price will inevitably cause diff to rise and the S9 will mine fewer bitcoins. You don't want the Bitcoin price to rise while you're mining. You want the price to rise when you're hoarding a stash of coins and not giving them to Bitmain. Once you've given them to Bitmain you want the Bitcoin price to drop.

There is also a chance someone bought with fiat.  So that could be a different ROI schedule that could happen much faster, depending on what BTC does in value.  And yes there is a argument someone could have just put that fiat money in straight BTC I do see that option to.  But that is a different conversation then hardware.  Also the other optimistic  view is maybe some old gear come's offline and we might lose some old hashrate.

Those are two thing's I can think of that an optimistic type might say.  I do consider it part hobby and part investment to be honest.   I love it that has kept me in the mining game, I just enjoy it chances are always will.    I think most still doing it enjoy it as I think you really have to to keep mining long term.
212  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with Spondoolies SPx on: July 15, 2016, 03:00:33 AM
So far, there's been no further plans from spondoolies. They've gone bankrupt and there's probably going to be nothing more from them. Quite a shame, since their miners were actually comparable to Antminers at one point; ever since Avalon really took over, spondoolies got weaker and just went kaput. I'd suggest you sell your miners on either eBay or Amazon, or use escrow and sell here on bitcointalk- I suggest the latter, because you can get reliable escrow, and no fees(except for escrow)! Much more secure than eBay, as people have done chargebacks and have been left high and dry. Their miners are very reliable for people with cheap electricity, but I suggest you sell now- SP20Es are being sold for under 150$ now, and will probably go lower as time goes on.

I think they are at the point there is no "further plans".   With going bankrupt after they were purchased... I doubt anyone else is throwing money at them like BTCS did.   At think point I think we can count on anything that was announced (like sp50) being something that will never exist.  And I could be wrong on that but I just don't see more money being put in them.

But yes I think we all agree sell the SP gear if not "free electricity".  They are only going to get less and less valuable.
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ARE NEWBIES CONSIDERED AS FOOLS? on: July 14, 2016, 03:36:35 AM
In 2016 I don't think you can regard all newbies on this site as idiots. A lot of people with high ranked accounts have sold them, you never know if a newbie is really a newbie these days (hope I explained myself well here).

I am myself a newbie and i think being a newbie is not a bad thing.
Exactly! Everyone starts as a Newbie here and Definitely Newbies are not fools.

You cannot link all Newbies to being fool's.  Some will read and learn from others mistakes so there is a lot of chances for someone new to be pretty "smart" for lack of terms just by learning from others mistakes.   And it depends on their goal in a lot of cases.

I would say it's the ones that are expecting to get rich quick, that are fool's.  As BTC is not  a get rich quick scheme, it is a investment.  The investment is a higher risk higher reward one then most, but still not get rich quick.   Those coming here to learn or use BTC long-term I think are on the right track.    A fool and his money are soon parted... is true in regular investments and also is true here.  But I strongly don't think all newbie's are fool's, and we all started there once.  So if you think newbie's are fools in a way we would all be fool's.
214  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: total bitcoin energy consumption on: July 14, 2016, 03:27:04 AM
I am surprised that I see so little discussion on energy consumption.  I love the concept of bitcoin but hate to see so much energy spent to maintain it.  I don't think bitcoin can survive unless a way is found to consume less.

It is not energy consumption that makes it hard to mine in most cases, but energy prices.  I think you will find the big mega mines have very low cost on power, also they are mostly privately owned and you just will not find the numbers OP is looking for.   With being privately owned most don't open up their books and say how much electricity they use as they don't have to.

One thing to is some places produce more electricity then they have use for.  One of the few big one's that opened up is over here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1072474.0 . eric@haobtc did a amazing job sharing living at a mine.  But in their case they teamed up with a hyrdo dam, so they were using electricity that would have wasted if they were not there.  So not all electricity is from "bad" sources.
215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do I Get 0.0023 to 0.01 BTC Per Day on: July 14, 2016, 02:57:10 AM
Signature campaign are your best choice-just find one that's actually suitable for you and pays and you're ready to go as long as you keep your posting rate good and meet the requirements.Good luck.

I don't think your going to find the .01 side on signature campaigns anymore, btc went up and payments are just not this high anymore.    To get .07 a week you really need to do some in addition to a good signature campaign.   So signature campaign can help but won't be only mean's if you want to get that level of earning per week.  You might get close though in the good campaigns.

It is a rather big range the .0023 is very attainable per day on good signature campaign.  You will need to spend time on forum's though and make good post's.   But if your like me you will enjoy the forums and find yourself spending a lot of time here.  I actually spend most of my time reading threads.

I would suggest though finding a way such as service/skill you can sell for higher long term profit's.  Even things such as mining for some, I mine and have for a while it has treated me good.  But you must find something you really enjoy where it where you are having fun and enjoying it.  Lot's of options out  there though to choose from I could not possibly make a list of all of them.
216  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Worth it ? on: July 14, 2016, 02:47:41 AM
Why would want to pay almost $700 more than what Bitmain charges for them? "free shipping" from the Amazon seller sounds nice but - shipping from Shenzhen to the USA is only around $140 so buying direct is still cheaper.

Not to mention with buying direct from Bitmain you have a warranty with them (I know some will knock it but at least it's something).   Add the warranty direct with them instead of a 3rd party and a HUGE profit reseller's added in I cant see why anyone would buy it off Amazon.   Pay like 1/3 more?  Just seems like way to assure ROI is even harder to make.

The good thing is if OP is thinking of using fiat he might reach ROI quicker depending on what BTC does.  But he can go fiat to BTC to buying from bitmain, which I would do over amazon.

But to know if it's worth it OP what is your electricity price?  Also can you handle heat/noise as it is a big miner?
217  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Pool hashing rate dropping in 30 minutes? on: July 14, 2016, 02:42:42 AM
BTC hash rate down by 1/3 on Day 4 after halving

Still looks like a positive by a small amount on bitwisdom, but again it is a estimate:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    213,398,925,331
Estimated Next Difficulty:    215,557,429,635 (+1.01%)
Adjust time:    After 712 Blocks, About 4.9 days
Hashrate(?):    1,513,827,421 GH/s

I would love to see hashrate go down, but not sure how fast it will be on getting those old miners offline. So far it does not seem like a really big surge of unplugging miners. And some places have such cheap electricity it's hard to say what they can use and still be profitable.  But guess time will tell.
218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What to do with Spondoolies SPx on: July 14, 2016, 02:35:17 AM
The company is bankrupt. They never released newer technology.

Haven't heard of a 6T SP miner, most likely its a fake.

Sell them on eBay and buy an Antminer S9

I could possibly be a overclocked SP35.   There was no official 6T miner, but SP35 was biggest at 5.5T.   I did not own one so cannot say how likely the OC is.   But that is my guess on what they are showing.  OP you have a link to one your talking about?

I would agree though and eBay them you will get more there then off of forums, but you do have to deal with ebay/paypal.   But selling them I think is best bet unless you happen to have "free" power.  The nice thing about them is they have the rack mounted design so some will pay more for that.   But the value will only go down with SP being gone, and getting older and older.
219  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: other uses for ASIC hardware? on: July 14, 2016, 02:27:14 AM
ASIC = 1 application.  They do nothing but hash the SHA256 function.
and you can use it for a space heater

Pretty loud space heater:)

Most all the asic's I have reviewed I had in my room during initial testing.  Once I got a mining area it changed as I have 240 there and only 120 in my room.  But I did use many as space heater's.

That being said it is so much nicer to have them all in one place in my mining area.  Not juggling so many on each circuit being safe.  And putting them in mining area I got rid of noise around house.     So you definitely can use them as space heater's I have but once you get into some of the big miner's it's nice not to.

Also if you have someone over who is not familiar with bitcoin's it's nice not to have them see these asics all over.  For example when I had fiber installed was not so fun moving miner's or hiding them for a few hour install.   Also a electrician seeing my miner's was the cause of the most outrageous electrical quote I ever got, just as he saw these machines that seemed weird to him.

Bitcoin Boy has terrible internet.

Everyone will be paid, as per usual, with the bonus stated.

As you can see there are enough funds: https://blockchain.info/address/16pe2twTgrjKC8mioPjX3f2UbCMGvWbVz4

Thanks for the update.  Cool

Agreed will this catch up both missing payments?

1) 7/4 - Unpaid
2) Coins_Bank Bonus mentioned - Unpaid (unsure of amount)
3) 7/11 - Unpaid

As at this point were missing 2 payment's and bonus.  When were this backed up is there a chance he can go to a coffee shop or place with wifi?  It seems like there would be a way to get internet that does not take week's.
