What Cardano (ADA)?
Cardano is a technology platform that runs the Ada cryptocurrency. Released by blockchain development firm Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) and led by Charles Hoskinson, former co-founder of BitShares and Ethereum, the platform aims to run smart contracts, decentralized applications, side chains, multi-party computation, and metadata. Daedalus is the official cryptocurrency wallet that holds ADA.
The currency, ADA was developed around a Recursive InterNetwork Architecture (RINA), while Cardano uses the Ouroboros proof of stake algorithm to achieve decentralized consensus in its network. Cardano is being developed in two layers that separate the ledger of account values from the reason why values are moved from one account to the other. This separation enables the smart contracts that are written on the platform to be more flexible.

What is DFINITY is a public network of client computers providing a "decentralized world compute cloud" where software can be installed and run with all the usual benefits expected of "smart contract" systems hosted on a traditional blockchain
Why? The Dfinity project is supported by a Swiss-based not-for-profit foundation called DFINITY Stiftung. P.S. Why I like ICOs so much? Basically it's a free money. You put some ethereum into it, wait few months and get a solid 30-150% profit for doing nothing. The risk is pretty small if you research well and only stick with top ICOs and avoid small town scams with shady actors.
