I am in the same position as you with 1 S9.  I was with another pool and if you are discussing block 500861, then it is the one you are at.  I have details of every block that one has found since it began.

So for block 500861 - there have been 4 more since this one so far.  Someday soon I hope to get real time BTC per Day Per Th/s over the past 30 days.  Dont have that coded up yet.  Obviously with the smaller pool, luck can get unlucky and you'll  see a bigger hit on your monthly proceeds.  But it also can go the other way and you'll get one or two extra blocks in a month.  In any case, in our pool, the 19.35 BTC block would have been somewhere near .01 BTC payout.  We just hit one that was 22.67465393 BTC and my take was .01128094.  So as you can tell, it is almost 100 times the payout so that does help for the slow times.
Thanks for the feedback... Truly? My S9 (13.5 Th/s), if fully ramped up could have pulled in near 0.01 BTC payout? So in a month where the pool finds 8 blocks I could be looking at 0.08 and 0.35 on a month when we find 35 blocks? I know this also depends on the block value and the total hashing power of the pool at the time but this is extremely appealing. Am I reading into your reply wrong?

I guess the hard part for any of us is knowing the miner is running 24x7 and the tendency is to want to see steady/reasonable money coming in. It's challenging for someone like me doing this for only a month now and bought 4 S9s to make the right call while balancing it all out. I have 1 S9 now, one coming tomorrow, one end of January and the fourth in late February. The first 3 weren't supposed to be delivered until late January but they've been shipping them early. Guess there is hope I won't have to wait until February to have all 4 running.

Side note... Complete newbie issue here but at one point I kind of dreamed I could run these at home. As it turns out I am renting and my landlord won't let me upgrade the power. I was going to upgrade the box and run 3-220V 30 amp outlets to the room where I'm running one now. I also live in Phoenix, AZ so I guess it's for the best since summer time would make it difficult to run them, vent them outside and keep the room cool. I'm actually going to be putting them into a data center I found for a reasonable price (for a data center). So finding a pool that pays good is the difference between me loosing most of the profits from one machine just to pay the monthly to a better ROI. Quarter rack ($125), 2-208V circuits ($449 each), miscellaneous fees for IP/bandwidth and then the cost of PDUs/cords/Firewall/Ethernet cords/etc.

Thanks again.
You read it right...  somewhere near .01BTC per block with an S9 and pool hash rate around 20 to 25PH.  Many of them were closer to .009 with the 13 to 14BTC block reward.

Yes, home mining is really an issue if you rent - or have a spouse that likes quiet!  Also, if I have my math right, a three phase 30A 208V can easily run 5 and likely 6 S9's on that one circuit.

Time has no effect on you finding a block.
Each hash you do has the same chance of finding a block - be it 1 second after the last network block or 1 hour.
Kano, have you ever thought about the possibility of "reverse" mining?  Where you randomly pick a final hash (probably the wrong terminology) with enough zeros in front, lock the time in, pick a group of transactions that are a little lower on the list so they stay for a while and then do a validation with each nonce - perhaps randomly selected but never duplicated.  I guess the previous block hash is included, so once a block is found, then everything would have to start over.  It is still luck, but seems that beating up a single answer may offer an answer quicker than totally "heads or tails" with this difficulty level.  In any case, I have no clue if the network even allows the time to be locked in for multiple seconds or even minutes, but it would seem plausible since computer dates/times can vary.

Firstly, the banning is working fine, and this is the first time I've enabled this extra blocking, that already existed in the code when I first wrote it all, and it's working fine also.

This banning might ban someone, while it's active, who makes a mistake, but I think that's way better than stopping everyone logging in.
... and anyone who gets on by mistake, can always contact me to get off the ban list very quickly.
There's only been about 700 banned IPs, but I did completely block a bunch of large subnets before hand that were all bots.

Most of the previous banning has been either IP subnets that had very large numbers of bots, or simply disabling logins for a short while until they got bored having no effect on anything.
This one has sorta gone on all day, so this solution is the best in this case, in my opinion.

Lastly, most people with more than a few miners, have a different place/places for their miners.

If the banning is happening in your apache script, perhaps you could just ban for a day.  If the blocks are happening in your firewall, that also can be done but not as easily since you would have to allow the apache server to have access to the ban list and manually parse through the logs to get the time.  Ok, I just read all the previous and see it is in your code and it sounds like you are doing a day.
Personally in my code, I allow 3 attempts, then lock for 5 minutes then 15 on the next, then 60 on the next and a day one the next.  I have detection for all kinds of hacker things (injection, arrays, etc) and if the server detects those, then the ip is blocked for a day.  As with yours, I do most in my code although my servers also have a firewall that blocks on ssh attempts, etc.  It seems that it would be good if you had something in place all the time rather than manually turning on and off your systems when threats are detected.  I suspect that even you need to sleep once in a while.

If I mine on a smaller pool that may not find as many blocks are the rewards really large enough to make up for the times when the pool is not finding the blocks? I'm just a little guy right now with 1 Antminer S9 and 3 more on the way. I'm learning a lot from everyone and think the kano pool and miners are dedicated, loyal and they stay for a reason so is this the case?

An example for my current pool...

We get a block that's 19.35259244 BTC. Took 00:34:59 to process it and my take was 0.00016099 BTC.

I believe the tx fees being referred to by the op are from us miners.  If you receive 10 small payments a day, when you go to use them, your tx fees are going to be ridiculous.
It  is best to consolidate your blocks by sending your full btc wallet amount to yourself once a month or quarter and put a small fee on it (I usually do 0.00005 BTC per kB).  It may never go through and usually takes weeks, but if it does, then you have only spent a few bucks to bring it down to a single block.  You must review how your wallet works though to make sure that you have the option of setting your own transaction fees.  If you go through an exchange, then you do not have much (if any) control of it.  If you have no control, then you have to watch for when the mempool is getting emptier (under 50meg) and then send it then.  You can use minergain to monitor this and get an optional alert.

The site I am writing is monitoring and logging the kano home page every minute (some stats are on the minergain dot com home page).  I have it coded to send me an alert when it changes and it does so within the minute.  Since this is a free forever site, I have to be careful how I spend my time.  That said, I could easily hard-code to send an email to everyone who has signed up and set the Kano pool monitoring up until I get my settings page done.  Eventually you will be able to specify a text address and select which gets notices for every block, the first profitable block, every profitable block for the day or a count of the day's blocks when greater than 0.  Eventually you will be able to put your power voltage / wattage for each miner in the system with different power rates per month to help calculate profitability.  If there is interest, I will hard code an email to everyone signed up tonight.  I also have every daily BTC price to US dollar and plan to get the dollar value at the time each block was found by mid January.
Ok, so I spent the time and added a settings area where you can enter your phone's texting information and I have it where you can setup so that the system emails (and optionally texts you if you setup the number) when a block is found.  The other options are not alive yet but will be.  To set it up, sign in, click on the monitor tab, click on pools on the left side.  Select the BTC (bitcoin) coin then the Kano pool.  Enter your username and api token and at the bottom set the pool alerts as you would like them.  Again, all that is working now is none or "each block found".  This was a rush job so I will add more info about the block that was found when I get some time.  Hope you all have many wonderful year end holiday celebrations and mine on!

CKPool app is always way behind and reporting blocks found days after they were found. I stopped using it for that reason.
Do you use anything instead?

It would be the same thing if he sold then instead of just threw away..  he saw the effort of selling them back then not really worth the effort.  So he is basically complaining of selling a stock early..  the only reason he 'lost' $100 million is that he had no way of selling earlier or now
So true.  I recently had a security audit and my auditor saw my mining operation and told me that he was super smart.  He bought 50 BTC at $3 each and doubled his money!  So yes, in any other environment doubling your money in a month or so is amazing.  I guess this "wild west" just makes everyone nervous and excited at the same time and not sure what to do - except whine I guess!

So my site has been grabbing 5 minute detailed info for a few pools in my upcoming minergain site but dont have the info live yet.   Eventually this data can use your real miner data to do "what if scenarios - even though luck is luck".  So all this got me wondering so I thought I would share some real comparison info...  So if you were with slush for December, here would be your btc per Th that your miners submitted....

Total: 0.003702629 per Th/s.

So if you have an S9 like me with 13.5Th/s, that is .0499854915 BTC for the month (assuming fully "vested" in the PPNLS).  As I have mentioned before, the 5 blocks found on Kano (even with the current 8 day delay) is .04509834.  If we got another block today, it would be roughly .054 BTC for the month.  And if we picked off another one tomorrow, it would be roughly .063 BTC.  So yes, there is a little more gambling here, but the potential upside is way more than the sites that give lots of blocks per day...  And isn't that really why we are all in this "business" - gambling?  That is exactly why I moved to Kano from Slush after just one month with them...  I can afford a little electricity if needed, but with that said, my full power bill was paid by the 3rd of this month...  I also purchase coins on the exchanges, and this is a much smaller investment per BTC - just slower.  Anyway, just to give a little perspective for the newbies (me included).
So this block officially puts me at .05392541 for the month with one S9 (.00399447 per Th) which is .0002104 BTC / day / Th.  That pushes Kano ahead of slush for the month by 7.31% and gives us around 4.5 days breathing room - meaning that if we find another block before 5 days we push the gain even further.  Mine on and congrats koelby.

When you say " For the Month" are you meaning December 1 til now or for the last 30 days?

sorry - Dec 1 to now...

Nice analysis.

Do these numbers also take into account transaction fees as well?  I've been debating switching over to Kano for a while, but the day I was going to actually make the move about a month ago (12-Nov) it was a very volatile day with BTC price and I saw slush continue to get blocks as Kano just had bad luck.  Luckily I didn't move and I realized that even though it's all luck when it comes to mining there's a benefit to being in a larger pool when volatility is high.

Yes, that is with all fees included at the  Pool hash rate for every block, so if slush does not fudge their fees, it is accurate.

My S7 and S7-LN earned me a total of $238.45 in the month of November on Antpool. Since this pool is only rocking about 1100 current users, should the next block we find have a huge reward? The last two blocks brought me a combined total of roughly $28, but I have only been mining Kano for about 10 days. Just trying to figure out how profitable this smaller pool can be. I think it's a great concept, less people creates a higher reward, but if you don't find a block you get nothing.
I have an S9 with 13.5Th/s (been running for months) and the last block was .02032803 BTC and the one before that was .00844936.  at $15,000 per BTC, that is $126.74 and $154.92.  For the month I have received .04509834 BTC ($676.48) with 5 found blocks and an average of .00019651 BTC per Day per TH. I'll let you extrapolate that to your own hash rate, but I suspect this is better once you are fully "vested"....  Happy Holidays to you all and mine on!

*** EDIT the first was .01032803...   sorry about that.

One block reward (for me) at today's spot will pay my hosting bill for six weeks at the Hoth Ice Planet. I'm not worried.
I have heard of this Hoth Ice Planet a few times but when I search for it, I cannot find a physical mining farm - just Star Wars and StartGate...  I am assuming that you do not really have miners beyond earth's atmosphere, right?  Of course cooling it would be a piece of cake!  I suspect this is just a newbie not getting a time honored bitcoin reference...  If you have a definition (or the web site if it really is a physical location), I would love to be enlightened!  Thanks much and mine on!

on windows, click on the windows start button and type "cmd" followed by enter.  That opens up a black window where you can type "ping nya.kano.is" (or whatever).  Your miner may also have a ping option in your network configuration area.
thank you very much! and what is considered to be a good response time? it shows 33/34 ms for me.
That seems great to me since it is pretty much what I am getting from Wisconsin to New York.  If you end up going across the ocean, it can be 125ms and more so those are the one you like to prevent if you can.
