201  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] KanoPool kano.is NO FEE TIL 2018 PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: December 06, 2017, 06:42:31 AM
Hello All,
Been buried reading and reading more trying to get up to speed with everything... Started at slushpool for a week and a half and did well with my s9. Investigated more and found you guys! I love the fact that everything is so transparent. A few questions obviously.. lol

1. hypothetically if everyone ran at 100% would most pools payout the same using PPLNS method adding tx and minus the pool fee?

2. frequency of blocks, having a lower hash rate then the larger pools we don't have the frequency of block success....but is that made up because of less hashing power to pay? ie more to spread around to fewer folks?

3. while reading, I came across pinging where our miners are pointed. I am pointed at "stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333" How would I ping this? Also, if it is high, is it worth changing to a lower rate. For example I pinged kano.is and it was burtal 145ns, then pinged the ny one(sorry cant remember) and it came back 39ns (worth a change?) If it is what would be the new address.

I have more questions but I don't want to abuse my new status.. lol

Thanks in advance to any help and answers.
The Brick

Got to command prompt and type ping nya.kano.is for an example. I think the rest is self explanatory. Here is what I get for NYA, but you should ping all the servers and use the top fastest 3 pings when setting up your miners. They say in life, "timing" is everything. Based on my location my fastest 3 are NYA, US then NL but based upon where you live it can be different.

Pinging nya.kano.is [104.207.132.42] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=54
Reply from 104.207.132.42: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=54

Ping statistics for 104.207.132.42:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 16ms, Average = 15ms

So as displayed for me the fastest route to get to the work is with the NYA server. 15ms is fast for a round trip packet.

Hope this helps answer question 3.

those S9 are arriving like the plague because network hashrate is going up like crazy
not looking forward to next difficulty change

It may be that they are auto switching from Btrash because it is more profitable to mine BTC at 11,300 than Btrash.

yes  they switch back and forth.

to all  an s-9  with 10 cent power  will roi in under 90 days.

this is an amazing rate of return.

look for stuff to happen in the next 60 days by this I mean roi time will get worse then 90 days

Difficulty is likely to increase. Price will stabilize and gradually move up. Lots of HODL'ing going on and rewards halving for BTC is scheduled to occur in August 18 time frame, when that occurs look for BTC to rapidly increase in price as new supply creation is halved just when the first adopters (3% of mass) reaches the market. Lots of drivers and fundamentals say that an S9, even if new technology comes out, will remain profitable to utilize for the near to mid term future.

With that said, I have 4 S9's shipping out next week and they should arrive and be mining in Kano by the 12th of this month. I am looking forward to getting in and achieving 5ND right towards the end of the month, which might afford me a couple of good payouts with no pool costs. Either way, having done my research, I could not find a better Pool to send the hashrate to anyway, so the 0% is just a little Kano-san reward to me for finding the pool in the first place. Mine On and thank you Kano for a great pool.

Edit: I was mistaken on the halving on BTC. I was thinking LTC and it is late August 2019. Tired....

I just want to know if anyone else feels the same way about this.  I love that the price of BTC is way high but this seriously fast increase in price somewhat worries me.  I don't want to say anything bad about BTC, I just feel like it's kinda out of control, that's the point though.  I don't know could it ever be possible that the price decreases to where it was say 6 months ago or less?  Where do you guys think it will level off and who decides the price, I think the traders do but I really have no idea.  Let me know what you guys think?  Happyyyyy Mining Kano people!
I also wonder, but I treat mining and crypto investments much like stocks and gambling.  It is like stocks in that it is more risky than bonds and like gambling in that I only put money in that I will not destroy my future if it goes bust. Obviously there is much more up side than this, but there is a small chance that it will all fall apart. If your risk tolerance is lower than this, then it is best to convert enough earnings to pay your power each month. That makes your mining operation much less risky.  Anyway, this is risky business, but as we have all seen, there is a lot of upside potential too.  I hope this helps gives you some options.
Bitcoin was created to eat Fiat currency. The M2 money supply during the Obama Administration went parabolic. They created trillions of Fiat dollars and every industrialized country followed suit. They had to do it to keep the Ponzi scheme going (confidence game). They can only inflate traditional markets so much without hyperinflation taking hold and destroying confidence in the system. China is 4 times more in debt than the United States on a GDP basis. So, what do you do to keep the ponzi going? You design a Fiat Currency eating machine, something that will eventually, over time, eat all the bloated assets up and replace their valuations into a Global means of exchange. Ta Da!! Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.
Now, with that said, there are going to be temporary pullbacks and occasional bear markets in the Crypto's. The Golden Rule I follow is that I don't own anything in this space that is not mined. Bitcoin is and will be the Gold Standard for all others to follow. There will be consolidation, but eventually all Crypto will either be sucked up by Bitcoin or will be integrated to conduct Hotswaps with Bitcoin. 1 year prediction: July 2018 BTC 22K, end of FY18, BTC no less than 50K. Remember we have a halving coming up, which makes all BTC worth even more $$$.
Fundamentals are as follows: Limited Supply, less than 1% fiat currency participation, early innovation stage is still in progress, some early adoption into mainstream (think Japan) = Huge growth into the near term, huge growth long term.
Finally, if BTC garners 1% of the worlds Fiat wealth, BTC = 1 million dollars or more per coin. HODL

how is the water?

8 S9s just cleared HK inspection, on their way to join my current 2 machines. ordered another 10 from bitmain this afternoon.

20 S9s looking for a nice cozy pool to splash around soon.... Smiley

Jump in, the water is warm.

Different pools, different operators, just use the same mining address and the rewards will go there no matter where they originate!

Okay...

I'm an idiot.. I thought because of the name in Block-chain; I was on the same pool.

Is it worth me switching here if I have less than 5 th/s or should I just wait until my S9's come in...

I just read that it takes a few days to get "In the Money.." and probably a lot longer with my TH/S below 5... Apparently CK Pool hasn't found a block since the end of August - so I feel stupid for thinking they were the same - and getting excited with Kano finds a block - smh..

My S9's arrive in a day or two.. Is it better for me to switch to Kano now... or wait until I have a much higher TH/s?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Like does anyone here ever use CKPool? Any Benefits to using Kano or Ck?

I just want to make sure I know the difference and why this one is so much more popular.

Thanks so much,

- Mike

You are not an idiot, you are just new, like me. I get my 4 S9's in early December. I have learned so much just by following this thread and watching the website. Kano Pool is the lowest fee pool available run by a Bitcoin Mining Professional. Kano - san, by all accounts, is an honest, technically proficient operator of the best decentralized Bitcoin Mining Pool on the planet. Point your hashrate here, you will not be disappointed.

Network:     6m 5s (496258)

This block was found by BTC.COM 3 minutes ago.

Kano, is it on my end? I find it hard to believe that I would have a 3 minute proxy delay with a ping of 27ms.

EDIT: Network:     8m 28s (496258) Now it is 6 minutes. With ten minute theoretical rounds this is disconcerting. When we submit the work, is it being delayed and sent to Blocks that have already been found? Just asking.

Thanks, I am going to take your advice. I sent an email to them to see if they would hold the $$$ in a smart contract, meaning if they didn't deliver, they wouldn't get the money..... I got crickets back from them. They may be legit, but I am think maybe not. Wait and see......
Super smart option.  So can you do smart contracts with BTC or is it just Ethereum?
We can't do it yet with BTC, Charlie Lee is using LTC as the test bed for BTC though. I suspect we will be able to do it within 3 years or so. You can do smart contracts with Etherium now however they are not mainstream yet and are a little painful to write. I really don't like ETH at all, I look at that whole chain as a scam because it is run by Vitalik. I am a Bitcoin and Litecoin kind of person but I would have bought some ETH to do a smart contract if they had responded and were willing to accept my terms. Mine On, my 4 S9's are due to ship very soon and I look forward to adding them to KANO's great pool. Great community here with Kano.  Smiley Smiley Smiley
Don't forget that Charlie started LTC as a scam also Tongue

He mined GPU for something like a year while he convinced everyone else it wasn't possible so they'd mine CPU ...

Yes I made comment about it when he started LTC about how GPU should be possible (my posts are still there) but everyone bought into Charlie's scam and the rest was history until the truth finally came out Tongue

Great info, it appears the Crypto world is full of scammers. That is why I am a huge BTC fan, but I must confess, I used LTC to pay for the hardware and power supplies for my BTC miners. The fees were very low and I didn't want to part with my Bitcoin.. LOL. Thanks for the info Kano. Mine On and thanks for a great pool.

He a scammer just like many others you'll find in the crypto world ...

Kano,

It looks to be happening again. F2Pool just found 494737, but the Website is showing the Pool still trying to crack it. Is it latency/lag or does it really matter? Just wondering.

Thanks!!

It seems strange that the Pool would still show it trying to mine a block that has already been found.

How do we go about courting cobramining to come back?  I wonder if chocolate and flowers would work?

I'd ramp up more miners if I could find a hosting site. But I'm maxed out in power and my electric isn't the cheapest in the world, though being in oil country you'd think our electric would be cheaper. But it seems like every hosting company is full.

Have 500+ t/h coming in December.  Will have room to expand.

How many S9's can you host? What are the associated power costs? General location? Thanks.
