201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: October 15, 2014, 08:19:07 PM

@GroundRod & Ahmed: all this is supercool. Once you have it ready, I will do my best to transmit it to Jeffrey Smith asap.
@Friction: to run a coin for free is really innovative for miners. Hope for them the price will increase and get a fair tx fee able to support their costs.

Thanks.  Very important that this gets into the main-net.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: October 14, 2014, 07:15:51 PM
I've got to admit,  IXC running on zero miner rewards all of a sudden looks ridiculously innovative.

Do we have word yet as to when the 0.9.x client will get into the CEX.IO pool?
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: October 06, 2014, 11:16:46 AM
I use p2pool to mine BTC, LTC, GRP, DVC, IXC, I0C, CLC and XGG all at once.

But, when I got my first Neptune miner, I thought the miner was broken because I could only get one terahash. Switching to mmpool I got 3.4 terahashes. So even using a nice server for my p2pool and spreading my altcoin daemons across three servers I somehow was not able to get my full hashrate.

Thus I now point my Neptunes at mmpool and just use my Saturn and some butterfly labs miners to mine at my p2pool.

I'd love to find out how to "fix" my p2pool though to make it able to handle Neptunes. I wonder if using solid state disks would help? Hmm...

-MarkM-

I'm just curious,  if you have your own p2pool then I gather you aren't mining in some other pool and therefore equivalently solo-mining?     Or can you connect p2pool to another pool?
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investor Cycles of Emotion, Ignorance on: October 05, 2014, 10:53:31 PM

Are we at the bottom in this cycle?  Have we seen capitulation?  Does the high volume today signal capitulation?

What was unusual in the current down turn is that good news didn't increase the price, it just kept going down.

I think once the Chinese got a mechanism to short Bitcoin (via OKcoin) then they've manipulated the price down to its current levels.

The Chinese at present handle the majority of trades for Bitcoin, furthermore they have no use for Bitcoin other than speculation and mining.    So what's happening is the Chinese are selling futures of Bitcoin at deflated prices.    My worry though is whether OKcoin correctly tracks the Bitcoin that have been shorted.

Any massive increase in the price of Bitcoin can send many shorters into Bankruptcy.
205  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investor Cycles of Emotion, Ignorance on: October 05, 2014, 06:37:16 PM
I think you need to consider that there are more than one market here.

There's currently the Chinese market which incidentally has the majority of the trading volume.

Looking at the current 300 price, it appears that most players in the Chinese market are underwater.

Unless of course you don't consider those players at OKCoin who have been shorting the market since August 7th.

I predict the next bull market run for Bitcoin will be much larger than the previous one, simply because of the prevalence of short sellers in the market.   These players not only provide a natural floor to the market, but also increase the upside in the form of a short squeeze.

So far the Chinese short sellers have been extremely successful.
206  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investor Cycles of Emotion, Ignorance on: October 04, 2014, 06:32:00 PM
Your 365 bottom prediction aint looking too clever.
so much for cycles.

Agreed. To conclude that this therefore is the death of Bitcoin, however, is fallacious. If it were easy to call the bottom, then we all would be rich. Wink

An indeed interesting call why you're calling the bottom.

I was expecting a rally from 600, then from 500 and then from 400.    Now I'm completely dumfounded as to why the current price is at 333.

207  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AMT users thread. on: September 30, 2014, 03:06:41 PM
For all intents and purposes it is a dragon miner. The same company made them for AMT. So yea its a whitelabled Dragon miner.

torrent link for AMT image. I am seeding it. It has a default IP of 192.168.0.245 OR 192.168.1.245 Either way its def one of those IPs. This is the original shipping image with the ONLY modification being the IP.

http://goo.gl/L5DT1B

Thanks, I will give this a try.

Burned this to a SD card and no go. It still does not connect to the network.

How did you burn your image to a SD card?

Use windisk imager 32.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

This was a raw dump of the file. It will work just fine for you. It is how I created the image and backed it up to other SDcards, so I know it works.

BTW, anyone know what kind of machine AMT shipped from china?

Is this a Dragon Miner or something else?

Yes, and it looks like they used old parts to put it together. My miner had no power supply (they did send me later) and it had 3 different brand fans which are very old and dirty. I am still trying to get back my $5100 from AMT since that miner lists for only $899.

So are you saying that AMT bought up some used equipment from some chinese miner and shipped them to customers?

209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 18, 2014, 08:46:11 PM

At this point you can even show your Secret Private Key to everybody: it's now useless

If you share your Private Key, then someone else could import the key and use the coins....

So you mean I can use the private key over and over again? But if the wallet has joined a IXC QT Wallet with password, how is it possible? Am I missig something?
Thanks

The act of adding a private key into a wallet does not make the private key useless.   You still need to transfer the coins from the original account to another account to make the private key useless.

The wallet password only encrypts the contents of the wallet.  But if you expose your private keys, then anyone can have access to the coins associated with the private key.

An unencrypted wallet has all the private keys of that wallet exposed.

The reason why I am suggesting the DOGE coin fork is that the Merged Mining code has been tested and deployed.

There is no instance of a 0.9.2 SHA256 based merged mined client that has been extensively tested and deployed.

Although you make think DOGE as a joke,  DOGE in fact has one of the most active development teams out there.

I can certainly make the changes myself, but I don't really think it is worth my while.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 17, 2014, 04:30:56 PM
@ Friction,

Please, can you be more specific about your proposal on these 3 points? Thanks

(1) Change the difficulty calculation.
(2) Change the reward calculation.
(3) Change the PoW back to SHA256

-------------------

PS ~ 190k left to mine. Fasten your seat belt.

(1) The way IXC calculates difficulty is different from Bitcoin and DOGECoin.  You can't just use any difficulty calculation since this would invalidate previously mined blocks.

(2) The mining reward calculation needs to be the same as what IXC current provides.   That is,  96 in the beginning, 48 right now and zero after a certain block.

(3) This refers to the DOGE coin port which has a scrypt based PoW rather than a SHA256 proof of work.

These appear to be pretty basic fixes.   Considering that the DOGE coin base has been on merge mine mode since Sept.11,  this is probably a better place to start than the DVC version which hasn't really been vetted.

212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: September 16, 2014, 05:09:35 PM
note to ground round would encourage you to fork ahmed's repo like i did any push your commits to your fork

when time allows i will look at them

not much time for me to do any testing last few days due to personal reasons but later this week i should have time to take a look at things again

One other alternative is to start of with what DogeCoin has done to create a merged mined coin.

It's based on the 0.9 bitcoin codebase and likely more robust than the version that Ahmed started with (i.e. An untested Devcoin port).

The key changes would be:

(1) Change the difficulty calculation.
(2) Change the reward calculation.
(3) Change the PoW back to SHA256

Anyway,  it looks like DOGE is now following my original strategy for IXC.

(1) Start with a merge mine coin.
(2) Transition to a low inflation rate mining rewards.
(3) Add Counterparty capability (see: DogeParty)

Note:  There is nothing to prevent DOGE from becoming a Bitcoin merged mine coin in the future.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: Nxt Reimagined - Industrial Strength - Imagine Fairness! on: September 15, 2014, 01:33:53 PM
50,000,000 NEX has been issued in the Nxt Asset Exchange.

Asset Id:  4420962345269767688

Please send PM from the account you signified in your original pledge.

Please wait for a confirmation message as to the amount of NEX you will be allowed to purchase.

Any NEX that have not been purchased through this method will be offered to participants in the waiting list and on the open market.

Thank you.

How many total NEX coins are there?

edit: where is the stakeholder list? I know nothing about this NEX coin ... very mysterious

The original pledges can be found here:  https://docs.google.com/a/codeaudit.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhwgzhIO_YCedEM4Tld4V05JRXh5Z09ZZS1KR2JYa0E#gid=0

Only those in the original list can invest at this time.

Is that the only stakeholder list, people swapping NXT for NEX? Was/is there any other way to get NEX, other than buying them?

Yes, others who have expressed interest via BTT, FB, Twitter will all be entitled to some NEX.

How many people expressed interest via those other ways? Is there a list of names? Did they pay, or were they free, or did they swap other coins?

I'm just trying to gauge how big your coin community is. I would like to buy some NEX on the NXT ae if possible.

FB - 70 likes
Twitter - 100 following
Email - 3,000 email addresses

These are all free accounts

Community building is one of the higher priorities.

Thanks for the info.

So NEX is PoS coin with 1 billion coin supply, and ~3170 stakeholders, plus the ones who trade NXt for NEX?

5% will go to Nxt/NEX pledges.   2% will go to charity and those who expressed interest (Proof of Online Identity).  Another 8% will be distributed through other methods.   The remaining 85% is a re-distributed with a combination of Proof of Stake, Proof of Bet and Proof of Service (i.e. Exchange fees etc).

In general, NEX is an eco-system where NEX credits are earned by providing services like exchanges, verification and mediation services, escro services etc.   NEX rewards participants who provide utility to the overall network.

Want further information for me to invest.

BTW, I am one of the early pledgers.

Not a problem,  we will be issuing updates to early pledgers.

Where is the promised code?

The NXT asset exchange is no escrow...

You have the right to exchange back to Nxt prior to release of code.   However, doing so removes you from the original pledge list.   So the risk is mitigated.

That's not enough, sorry.

I checked the records and you don't appear to be in the original pledge list.

Maybe I have my sockpuppets, just like you.

But why do you try to derail this conversation - where is the code?

As I said earlier, the code has not been released yet.

You are not in the original pledge list.

We cannot reveal intellectual property for non-investors,  it is simple as that.

good one  Cheesy

Frictionless says Nxt is the devil
Issues an asset on the Nxt asset exchange

...

There is no easier way to exchange Nxt for something else but through the asset exchange.

We have not done a BTC offering, but that's something that may happen in the future.

With all due respect for me to invest now I need a massive update of some kind of where the project is, the client, the road map, number of coins,a advantage of investing early..etc.

I hate NXT I don't want to trawl through working out NXT to buy a coin I know nothing about anymore. I also need to buy NXT to buy NEX, it's a hassle.

Positive but needed more..

Sent you a PM.   Details of NEX developments will be shared among those who have pledged.
