I exported the private key by calling dumpprivkey <addressHeSentTo>, the went to a BTC client and did importprivkey <key>. The BTC client said something like "import failed". Any ideas? Will Electrum work better than bitcoind for this?

Is Poloniex starting to slow down for people?
|
|
|
Busoni
Poloniex is great but :
An XCP transfer costs 0.0002172 BTC at the moment (I don't know in the future if this will change) Even at a rate of 0.01BTC/XCP (to balance the risk of holding XCP) transfers should cost around 0.02 XCP to be fair.
I don't know about the reason why it's so high but this issue should be addressed (don't let another exchange steal your market share, you have the first mover advantage...)
A single XCP transfer costs about that much, but in order to deposit, XCP and BTC need to be transferred internally. Sometimes BTC needs to be transferred more than once because Counterparty randomly requires varying amounts of BTC. The withdrawal fees have to cover deposit costs, and people often make more deposits than withdrawals. I just lowered the fee to 0.35, but that seems like a lot, too. I think 0.1 will cover everything, so I'm going to lower it to that.

I can't reach Poloniex. Anyone else getting a timeout?
I'm not sure what that was. All I know is that it was not web traffic. It was either a lapse in available bandwidth, or someone testing the waters to see what it would take to do a DDoS. I'll have to sift through some logs to determine that. Now that you're here, are you going to fix the exorbitant 1 XCP transaction fee? Yeah, it's getting a bit high. I've lowered it to 0.35 XCP, minimum withdrawal now 3 XCP.

Oh, phooey. I knew I should have bought more when it first went up.

I think there is a problem with MTC deposits
They have updated the wallet and changed the name to MTS I think this may be the problem
I sent some coins about 40 mins ago and they still have 0 confirmations and are not showing on my incoming balances
Could you look into this when you have time thanks
I swear, I'm this close to delisting MTC. It's caused so many problems, and the developers don't tell me anything or respond. Good developers always keep me informed--and there are plenty of those. Anyway, I'll look into this now. And, yes, for anyone who hasn't heard -- Poloniex just listed Counterparty! Very cool thing, Counterparty. (I don't want to call it a coin, because it's so much more.)

I did some rework on the existing logo. Added some depth and dark colors.
This could be a temporary logo waiting for an official one by Matt Y buddy. ...
Very nice. Updated the front page of Poloniex.

Everyone's deposits and withdrawals should have gone through by now. Please contact me again if you're missing something.
Yes, all running fine AFAICT. Hopefully you'll grow big enough you can hire people for 24/7 support & monitoring! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I'm struggling more with how I can hire someone who could be of any use without giving them access to people's money. I think I'll need to write a lot of new code for some kind of support interface.

Well done guys on getting it on an exchange. do we know how safe poloniex is?
At least we can get xcp on coinmarketcap now
poloniex has google authenticator 2FA and so far I havent had any problems. Tristan has got a nice selection of new altcoins there However, last I checked, poloniex has yet to implement the API coinmarketcap needs. No rush, better to wait until web client is available What do they need? Poloniex has public API methods: poloniex.com/api

We can use the reddit logo for now (since that at least has some public exposure) and decide on an official logo later. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ff.thumbs.redditmedia.com%2FiYL9JWiu12xKAWJw.png&t=663&c=ORINckmuPXUYWQ) A suggestion was made on this thread to possibly get a logo design competition running on 99designs.com. We definitely need something professionally done. https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,28.15.htmlLogo looks good, in my opinion. We should use this Do we have a higher resolution version of this? I like to use 192x192 so things don't look awful on high-DPI displays.

An absolute minimum of 1 confirmation is needed for anything to show up in your deposits. After the first confirmation, an attempt is made to send your deposit to the main account. If this fails, then more BTC dust is sent to your XCP deposit address. This needs one more confirmation to clear. Then, another attempt is made, but sometimes the second one can fail, too. After the XCP is finally sent to the main account, an additional two confirmations are needed.
In addition to this, the daemon runs once every ten minutes. So if there are some fast blocks on the BTC network, you can end up with more confirmations.
I've just made a change that should help any stuck deposits (there seem to be three of them right now). Before, one dust transfer was made if the transfer of XCP to the main account failed, and then the daemon just kept trying without any additional dust transfers. The only case in which additional dust would be transferred is if the "TX rejected" error was thrown instead of the "insufficient BTC" error. Since the daemon only runs once every ten minutes, I think it's probably safe to have additional dust transferred after every failure, so I've made that change.
Once the main wallet gets enough XCP, I'll be able to credit people before the move into the main account is complete, but for now, every XCP on balance and available for purchase needs to be available for immediate withdrawal.
Also, at these prices, it's looking like 1 XCP fee and 5 XCP minimum withdrawal might be a bit high...

What's the point of sweeping it out of the individual deposit account though? I don't really get that.
Suppose five people each deposit one XCP, then one person buys all five XCP and attempts to withdraw them. All the XCP need to be in one account so people who withdraw without depositing can get them. About the withdrawal fee, it is definitely higher than all the others. The others are supposed to be just TX fees, but the XCP has to cover some hidden costs. Once we see what price XCP settles on initially, I'll adjust it accordingly. I have no intention of profiting off of withdrawal fees. Many successful deposits went through, and although only one person made a withdrawal, it was also successful (in addition to my many withdrawal tests). So we're launching! BTC/XCP market now live: https://www.poloniex.com/exchange/btc_xcpHave we decided on a logo yet?

Okay, I think everything is working now. If anyone feels like depositing some XCP early, and maybe withdrawing it, before I open the market, it would help me be sure that all the automation is working. Even if it isn't, your coins will be safe, and your BTC balance never gets touched. You'll find your deposit address here (account needed, of course): poloniex.com/balances
Minimum for withdrawal is 5 XCP, and there is a 1 XCP withdrawal fee to cover all the dust costs.

I got it unstuck... sent a little more BTC to the address and it sent. That can be automated.

My bitcoind -reindex still sitting there .... No indication of any progress. I think I'm at somewhere over 48 hours now. Any idea how to tell if its still going/working ? How long til I should kill this process ?
Is it using CPU resources? You can also start it with -daemon and -reindex and monitor its progress with getblockcount.

Come on lets help Busoni! He's putting us on exchange.
take a loot at https://masterxchange.comxcp is the same concept what they do is user who deposits MSC has to specify his MSC address(which is bitcoin address) on the website, and send it to 1MaStErt4XsYHPwfrN9TpgdURLhHTdMenH, and they just check the input of debit transactions to see who send MSC. By doing this, they have one address holding all XCP which is easy to withdraw back to users, no need to spread dust btc across addresses. If you can support XCP, then you can also use this scheme to support MSC as well, one stone 2 birds, worth your effort no doubt How do you tell who sent how much? Is there an API call for looking at transactions? It seemed all I could do was check balances. At any rate, the way I'm trying to do it would be easier for users, and the only reason it's not working is because I can't send XCP. If I can't send XCP, it doesn't really matter how the deposit system works. The FAQ didn't really help, I had tried those things already. It's kind of annoying, I can't find any more information about the error other than that the tx is rejected. Joined the IRC channel, no one's there. It's so close--everything would work if Counterparty would.
