202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Asia on: April 23, 2018, 12:12:17 PM
How common is Bitcoin in Asia? Just want to know Huh

I believe the government is trying to ban bitcoin in China, while in countries like Japan and Kore it's thriving thanks to the local regulators creating the necessary environment for cryptos.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone pays you 10 btc to legally change your name to bitcoin, would you? on: April 23, 2018, 12:10:53 PM
If someone agreed to pay you 10 btc which is currently valued at around $90k USD to legally change your name to bitcoin, would you? And you're not allowed to change your name back for at least 5 years.

I would probably do it and name my firstborn after bitcoin for 10 btc.

tempting but I guess I wouldn't do it Smiley especially not naming my son bitcoin, if I decided to harm my reputation, so be it, but letting my son being mocked for the rest of his life for 90k, no thank you
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚛️ [ANN] Bitcoin Atom - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Atomic Swap Powered ⚛️ on: April 23, 2018, 12:08:05 PM
so if I understand correctly, next release will be GUI toolkit in your official wallet. Will it become available also for some electrum wallets so I don't need to download the whole blockchain?
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚛️ [ANN] Bitcoin Atom - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Atomic Swap Powered ⚛️ on: April 20, 2018, 08:13:41 AM
Price is still falling, how many people still trust in this Bitcoin fork?
I don´t see any good feature, why may people use this coin.
Price is not still falling, actually it has been pretty stable lately. If you need a reason why people may use this coin, just read about atomic swaps and how cool it is that you won't need to use exchanges thanks to Bitcoin Atom!
Why atomic swap? When people do not use this coin? For what? Only for exchanging it to bitcoin? You did not send any bounty tokens, you are not responding to bounty hunters, okay, it is your choice, but that´s why price is so low now.

oh yes, bounty campaign is what matters, therefore the project can't be good... I like bounty campaigns in general too, but it's bringing too many unreasonable and uneducated people into the community, that is not what crypto needs.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is gold? on: April 20, 2018, 07:34:44 AM
I watched a video telling that every paper currency in history all collapsed , and USD will collapse too, in future.

The time in which a currency collapses is when people don't believe in its value anymore. And obviously, when thought reversely, something becomes a currency when more and more people believe in its value.
And currency becomes money when they don't lose value between people regardless of time, like gold.

Do you believe btc could be in this position? BTC could become gold?

I'm not sure if bitcoin should become gold as it's not the mean of exchange as it's supposed to be with bitcoin. I wouldn't be searching for parallels in this case, bitcoin is just bitcoin
207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Paper Wallet on: April 20, 2018, 07:33:44 AM
I just wondering why some people don't use paper wallet to secure their bitcoin, Some of them are just putting to the exchanger and trust their funds that no assurance of safety.I don't understand why they did not use the most secure way to keep their bitcoins.

Any Thoughts?

people often use comfort of exchanges where it takes almost no efforts to store and trade their cryptos. But yes, paper wallet is a good old school option and it's safe if you know where to hide it Smiley
208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Definition for bitcoin fans and bitcoin hater on: April 17, 2018, 01:19:24 PM
Hello folks,

I often discuss with friends and family about newspaper articles where banker, politicians and ceos give their options about the future of bitcoin.
Bankers speak mostly against bitcoin and spread FUD. People who work in the information industy often like the idea.

What do you say? Is there a definition of bitcoin fans and bitcoin hater? And how would you describe them?

it shouldn't be about fans and haters. It should be about the merit this industry can bring to the masses. Everything can check the pros and cons of blockchain, that is how healthy opinions are being built...
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why people think that bitcoin is buble coin ? on: April 17, 2018, 07:09:18 AM
after 10 years has been past of bitcoin but still people think bitcoin is bublecoin , why ?

because the price grew a lot in relatively short time. Some people say it's bubble but the truth is that it's simply a cutting edge technology that is changing the lives. Check how value of facebook grew in that period of time. Is it a bubble?
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ponzi / Pyramid Scheme / Bubble on: April 17, 2018, 07:08:10 AM
If you have been in the crypto space long enough I am sure you have heard from at least one person claiming that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme, Pyramid scheme, or a bubble. Perhaps you have heard all three. A lot of these people don't know what they are talking about and just quoting someone else they've heard. Here are the meanings of the three and why Bitcoin does or doesn't fit the criteria:

Ponzi scheme

What is it?
A Ponzi scheme involves a person or entity that recruits investors without any underlying product/service. The only way those investors are paid out is when new people invest. Nothing of value is added and the creator(s) of the scheme run off with all the money in the end. In a Ponzi scheme, people are promised high return with little to no risk. There is no financial reward to recruit new people other than the fact that they add to the money pool (collective reward). Early buyers may get rewarded and the Ponzi may spread by word of mouth. It is not a pyramid scheme because there is no individual reward for recruiting new members. Also there is a central authority.

Is Bitcoin a Ponzi?
No... no it is not. Bitcoin is decentralized so it cannot be a Ponzi. Bitcoin had a lot of work put into it by Satoshi and many other developers. They had no malicious intent like how a Ponzi does. Also, if Satoshi wanted to come and take all your bitcoins away, he couldn't do it. So no, bitcoin is not a Ponzi.

Example of a Ponzi
Bitconnect

Pyramid Scheme

What is it?
A Pyramid scheme involves a person or entity that acquires new members whose sole purpose is to recruit more members. Members are rewarded based on the number of people they bring into the pyramid. This is similar to multi-level marketing. The difference is multi-level marketing has a product where as pyramid schemes do not. If they do have a product, it is a garbage product and a majority of the money being generated is from getting new members. If people are having to pay up front to "get in the business" then it is probably a pyramid scheme. In a pyramid scheme there is no central authority who controls all the money like in a Ponzi.

Is Bitcoin a Pyramid?
No it is not. It is wrong when people mistake bitcoin for a Ponzi, but it is even worse when people mistake it for a pyramid. When you get more people to invest in bitcoin, you are not personally rewarded. All investors are collectively rewarded because the price goes up, but there is no real strong financial incentive for you to get family members and friends to buy bitcoin.

Example of a Pyramid
People that want to sell you a "starter kit" for selling "starter kits" for any overly priced bullshit product (such as knifes, moisturizer creams, DVDs, etc.).

Bubble

What is it?
A bubble is when there is so much hype over a certain thing that investors start evaluating that thing at overly high prices. The increasing price causes people to experience something called "fear of missing out". As a result, people buy and prices are fueled to soaring heights. Eventually reality hits home and a lot of people end up losing money once prices come crashing down.

Is Bitcoin a Bubble?
Maybe. We have yet to see whether bitcoin becomes a huge success or a massive failure. If it fails then it was a bubble. If it succeeds then it wasn't. So far I'm feeling pretty optimistic. There definitely is a lot of hype in the Bitcoin space, but the future will be the ultimate answer for whether that hype is warranted.

Example of a Bubble
The Dotcom Bubble

I don't mind bitcoin sceptics describing bitcoin as a bubble. Sometimes, they can come up with decent arguments for it. What is annoying though, is when people say bitcoin is a Ponzi or pyramid scheme, because that just doesn't make sense. Using pyramid, Ponzi, and bubble interchangeably is not correct. Our words are important in how we use them.

thank you for this post, you made it very clear. Totally agree with you, it's ridiculous to call bitcoin any of those, as it's clearly not the case. But if those people want calling bitcoin names, their problem Smiley
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Serious accusation on Roger Ver about co-opting a blockchain event in Tokyo on: April 17, 2018, 07:06:03 AM
I do not know if some Bitcoiners are taking it too far but this one might marginally be close to character assassination unless those Bitcoiners can confirm from the event organizers themselves that Roger Ver was "conning" his way to make it appear that the event was a Bitcoin Cash conference.

https://theicojournal.com/con-man-roger-ver-attempts-to-co-opt-bitcoin-event-in-tokyo/

Quote
Roger Ver continues to funnel epic memes to crypto twitter by being exactly who he is – a crypto con-man. His ‘bitcoin cash versus bitcoin core’ yawp is tiresome and loathsome at the same time. And the internet isn’t about to let him get away with it.

Roger Ver is the crypto worlds snake oil salesman. Attempting to lure those new to crypto into his Bitcoin.com web and convince them that ‘Bitcoin Core’ is old technology and bitcoin cash is the true vision of Satoshi. Consider the arrogance it takes to believe that you can co-opt Satoshi’s vision and claim it as your own. Con-man.

In another round of stupidity this weekend Roger Ver and his crew co-opted a conference in Tokyo and used optics to try and convince all of us that it turned into a Bitcoin cash love fest. Strategic photos were taken, emails were circulated, and successive rounds of media hits were planned. More snake oil.

To be clear, no matter what Roger and his cronies say, THIS WAS NOT A BCASH EVENT!

"Zero mention of Bcash on this agenda"

"Oh look, a perfectly placed photo op"

"Even fake invitations were created to attempt to “prove” the appearance of bcash’s presence"

To know both sides of the argument, this is Roger Ver's reply.

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/8cocth/to_the_twitter_liars_like_whale_panda_and/

Quote
To the Twitter liars like Whale Panda and DarkPill claiming tonight's Tokyo event wasn't related to BCH, the reception desk was covered with BCH signs, and every single person who attended was given a BCH sticker.

Core supporting liars are busy on Twitter trying to claim no one was there for Bitcoin Cash or myself. People literally lined up for nearly an hour to take Bitcoin Cash photos with me, their BCH stickers, and wallets., and the reception desk had BCH signs, and handed out BCH stickers to every single person who attended. Here is one of the flyers that most people received to inform them of the event. (Clearly BCH related)

This is why it is never boring in Bitcoin land. Cool

I agree that bitcoin cash offers some advantages comparing to Bitcoin, but so are other coins and tokens. Highjacking the bitcoin by saying bch is real bitcoin is not fair and doesn't feel right at all...
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: felling depressed for holding bitcoin :/ on: April 17, 2018, 07:03:18 AM

213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the power of media on: April 17, 2018, 06:59:06 AM
The media as the fourth estate of realm, play a very critical role in creating awareness on issues surounding crypto currency and the need to popularize it beyond its current status. In most part of the world individuals and institutions are skeptical about bitcoin and it's acceptance as a legal tender. Hence the need to explore and leverage on the enormous power of media on propagating and putting crypto currency issues on the front Bonner. However, considering the fact that the media exist to inform, educate, mobilize and enlighten societies, which other vehicles or means could best serve the purpose of setting agender on a phenomenon as important as the rising prominence of crypto currency?

for this again blockchain is the solution. Decentralized media give power into the hands of people, so media manipulation will become more difficult and people will be able to make the decisions based on accurate info.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: samsung is riding the blockchain train on: April 17, 2018, 06:55:55 AM
Samsung will use the technology behind bitcoin to track their shipments and is said to be very helpful for their logistics team. Their logistics chair has recognized the technology of bitcoin as technological breakthrough and to quote "fuel for Digital transformation"

Indeed it would be beneficial because in the age where everything is automatic, not only fo we want our food and money on an instant, companies on the other hand want a clear way of seeing how their business is doing especially in a company like samsung. The supply of samsung is vast and scattered all.over the world. It is beneficia for them to track their stocks and shipment because it makes their business easy to handle.

Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-15/samsung-jumps-on-blockchain-bandwagon-to-manage-its-supply-chain

good to see also samsung recognizing the power of blockchain. More and more companies are hopping on blockchain train, it will only continue for years to come...
215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to Buy bitcoins? on: April 17, 2018, 06:54:05 AM
Hi Good Day! where can i buy bitcoins? there is so many advertisement on the internet already, any suggestion where best to buy?
Thank you!

best way is to buy on reputable exchanges, such as coinbase or bitstamp. They have been in business for a long time and are heavily regulated. If you want to remain anonymous, best way is p2p
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese "Ebay" Bans listing of Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Related Services on: April 17, 2018, 06:53:16 AM
We are talking about China, so this could just fall under: nothing to see here.

However, what I find odd about this is that Taobao (also known as the Chinese "Ebay"), a subsidiary of Alibaba, is banning the listing of any services related to blockchain (not just cryptocurrency and ICOs), when China seems to be one of the major advocates of blockchain right now. Heck, Alibaba has even paired with other large companies to start a blockchain academy: https://www.forbes.com/sites/baymclaughlin/2018/02/08/this-week-in-china-tech-xiaomis-460-investments-tencents-gamble-and-a-new-blockchain-academy/#32e4f0af12d3.

You can read the full article here: https://futureblock.io/2018/04/15/alibaba-subsidiary-taobao-bans-listing-of-cryptocurrency-and-ico-services/

I'm pretty confused what is the reason for this. Supporting blockchain on one hand and banning them on the other hand, well I guess only time will tell what their real attitude is...
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any way for Bitcoin users to be protected by governments? on: April 17, 2018, 06:51:56 AM
Example I buy a house from a seller, how can I protect myself if I want to use Bitcoin as payment currency? That's real problem because he might not give me the house or cancel the things when I already sent him BTC.

for this reason, the regulation is being created. Once crypto is fully regulated in your country, you will be able to buy house with crypto. I'm pretty sure in Japan this is already possible
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Women in the cryptocurrency industry on: April 17, 2018, 06:51:07 AM
Every so often I run into an article that talks about how few women are involved in this industry compared to men. My suspicion is that there are more women involved than anyone realizes; they're just not putting their gender front and center.

What do you all think?

https://moneyish.com/ish/all-the-reasons-why-women-can-be-the-future-of-cryptocurrency/

it is like 99% men and 1% women Smiley truth is that this industry needs more women for better balance, they have so much to offer also in crypto, but men should encourage them to get involved
219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After 3 months, what do you have? on: April 17, 2018, 06:49:29 AM
Since I joined the crypto market. My gain is zero. I only have experiences and lessons. Does that have been called successful? Huh  Undecided

yes, lessons are also good, that can help you to make profits from now on. Just be patient and you will reap what you saw. Everyone here already learned his lesson...
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency is a bubble? on: April 10, 2018, 09:40:22 AM
Hello Wink. I want to hear your opinion. Cryptocurrency is a bubble? How long will it last? Is it worth continuing to invest in it?

it is not a bubble, as it has real value behind. People trust the blockchain technology and it's being used on every day basis. We will see the prices elsewhere once more people get to know and use crypto
