201  Other / Off-topic / Honesty Integrity on: August 19, 2014, 12:24:56 PM
Does Individual honesty and or Personal Intellectual Integrity play any part in your Religious belief System?

There seems to be many religious people around here who don't mind breaking a few Biblical commandments, especially the one concerning false witness/ lying.
What may be the most ironic is, it is the non-believers who are calling them on it!

"Do as I say, but Not what I do!"  seems to have replaced the, "Do unto others as You would have done to You".

Has out-right lying/ bearing false witness become a part of your religion?

Because in many institutions, the actual practice is not especially damaging compared to the perception.
Hmm.

So given the option of me punching you in the face, or me not punching you but giving everyone the perception that I did, which would you pick?
203  Other / Off-topic / internal role change complications on: August 18, 2014, 07:18:46 PM
so I applied to a new role within the company. I tell my boss I'm about to apply and he's extremely supportive. He immediately tells me he'll write a reccomendation letter and forward it on to the proper people. This was July 25th. I get an email that same day from the director of HR telling me that I have a phone interview with the VP for the new role on Monday, the 28th. I eagerly accept and make sure I'm all set for Monday. Monday rolls around and the VP doesn't call. I send an email asking "do we need to reschedule? I never recieved a phone call." The vp responds and says he couldn't find my phone number He now has my phone number because it was in my email signature. HR says they will reschedule. So about 3 days ago I get a new invite for a phone screen today. VP calls me about 2 minutes after he should and says "oh I have a phone call with a customer. I'll call you back at noon" I say "ok i understand"

it's now 12:25 and still no call. What the fuck is going on god damn it.

205  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women earn $0.77 for every $1 men earn. on: August 18, 2014, 07:13:51 PM
This argument has been made popular within the last year or so, and I haven't really done a lot of research into it this time around, but in the past when I saw this brought up, the data had ignored that men just tend to do jobs that are valued more by the market, and it wasn't necessarily an issue of sexism.

What I mean is that men do things like construction, crab fishing, trucking, plumbing, etc., things that women simply choose not to do. This can be because of social norms, but there's probably some biology to it, such as men generally being physically stronger than women and strength being something that's valuable when it comes to, say, lifting heavy shit? Fuck if I know. Anyway, women just don't do these jobs or go for them. Instead, they choose cushy office jobs, and many of them choose to be homemakers whereas fewer men choose cushy office jobs and being homemakers and teachers and shit.

So I'm wondering if this same counterargument applies today. When we talk about women making $0.77 for every $1 a man makes, is it for the same job? Does the study control for other variables?

Just to be clear, here, I completely agree that sexism is a very real problem in our culture, including the workplace. When women are assertive, they're called "bitchy" or "bossy" whereas men are "confident" or "possess leadership qualities" and so forth. I read about one study that showed biases in hiring managers, and even when they were made aware of their biases, they still fail to properly compensate for it. I agree that we live in a culture that blames rape victims for being raped. Etc. It's not much of a stretch for me to buy into this argument about how much women make vs how much men make. But I know that there have been problems with the argument in the past, and I wanna see someone back it up with real data.
I thought that statistic was long ago corrected to $0.95 for every $1 men earn. And I'm especially curious what this stat is for the millennial generation and beyond where women are graduating college at a significantly higher rate. Feminism is going to fuck over the next generation of men.
Here's the slightly deflating caveat: this reverse gender gap, as it's known, applies only to unmarried, childless women under 30 who live in cities. The rest of working women — even those of the same age, but who are married or don't live in a major metropolitan area — are still on the less scenic side of the wage divide.

IE women who are married are likely to quit, back off work, take time of for kids,. etc... and people in rural areas aren't getting degrees at the same rate.

207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How dangerous is Isis [Islamic State] to America? on: August 18, 2014, 06:55:46 PM
It is going to be a long and painful war against these savages. We need to kill as many of them as we can while we are engaged in the ME. There are several million Muslims already living in the USA and if they all go radical at once there will be hell to pay.
if we are going to fight the mid-east, annihilate them all.  Never mind a little fighting here and a little fighting there.  Go in and conquer the whole area at once.  Then divide it up as we or Nato sees fit.
Nor is it Muslims per se who live in the US who are the problem.  If they are citizens and if they are from anywhere except the mid-east, they are probably our allies.  It isn't the Islamic religion that's the problem, it's the middle east that's the problem.
America has started many wars.  Of course it has failed to win them but has declared that victory has been achieved.  Then it has buggered off and left the mess and countless more enemies to clear up the resulting mess.
208  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women earn $0.77 for every $1 men earn. on: August 18, 2014, 06:51:20 PM
Fertility rates have a direct statistically significant correlation with relative wage earnings for women.

There are a lot of other factors though, sexism is one, and what I believe you are talking about: stream divergence or grouping of female labor into specific markets is another (though its impact varies by country). Of course one could make an argument that such grouping of female labor exists largely because of ingrained professional gender roles within society where women are culturally steered toward say nursing and teaching than they are to engineering, and tech fields. But I've never spent as much time looking at that discussion.
209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Women earn $0.77 for every $1 men earn. on: August 18, 2014, 06:45:41 PM
I've gone over a number of those studies and they only really compare rough sectors (full time employment vs. part time employment seems to be the most common breakdown). So the "same pay for same work" line is really misleading. Sexism absolutely exists, but a lot of what hinders female professional development is having babies and a family. It creates other traditional duties for women (generally since women are more often relegated to such domestic responsibilities which I also think has a biological component associated with child rearing, but part is cultural as well) that prevent them from going the "extra mile" in their careers. It is tough to put in an 80 hour work week to get ahead when you have to take care of your children after they get home from school. You also have things like maternity leave, which isn't suppose to affect professional potential and advancement, but does. For really successful men they can get ahead AND have a family, for a lot of working women, there comes a point in their career where they have to choose between the two.

Again, these RWNJ's seem to have little respect for a human life.

My friend is alive because of ACA - allowing her t obtain insurance coverage in spite of preexisting conditions and testing proved her cancer and now she's finished 6 chemo treatments.  Wednesday her doc will view her scans and tell her she's ok - or that she needs more chemo.

I am hoping for the best, of course.

Beside, one cannot have an intelligent conversation about ACA with RWNJ's - they are illogical and too political to be honest.
211  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 7 Things to Consider Before Choosing Sides in the Middle East Conflict on: August 18, 2014, 02:45:13 PM
bottom line is that there is no end in sight. And not likely to be one in our lifetimes or even longer.

Hatred is taught on both sides by the families if not the government. As long as that happens it will continue.

Both sides might want to look at the Northern Ireland situation. If not completely successful it has gone much better - and the hatred there was every bit as great.

When I was across the country probably talked to every 2 weeks, texted/emailed mom most days, she relayed to dad. Now I see then ~2 weeks as they can drive 40 min and we meet half way or I hop up. still text and or email most days.

214  Other / Off-topic / Re: Science and God? on: August 18, 2014, 01:59:28 PM
Science isn't interested in proving that God doesn't exist. Religion is not a factor in any of sciences many disciplines. Science has, quite by accident, shown that a God was not necessary for the creation of the universe and the creation of all life on the planet. If a God is not necessary than it follows it is not necessary to believe in one. Correct?
Except the below premise is not true - except in the minds of those who already take or wish to take that position.

Science has, quite by accident, shown that a God was not necessary for the creation of the universe and the creation of all life on the planet.

You guys don't get it.
NXT is supposed to be a social experiment as well as a crypto currency experiment per its founder's original intention.

That's why a choice was presented to the community. The majority of the community were against rollback and voted against rollback with their stakes, which can be interpreted as the majority of NXT community understand the purposes of crypto and why rewriting history is bad, unless it's a technical issue with software of course.

If no choice had been given, the NXT community wouldn't know who stands for which values. It's best to know beforehand while NXT is still small what the community members are up to, because without a community any crypto currency is dead. If no choice had been given, it would mean developers couldn't be sure in the future if NXT is supported just by profiteers or mostly by genuine enthusiasts. Now they can be sure of the latter outcome.

I loved out how the community came together to vote against this, I felt bad for bter but its the community that makes the coin, not the exchanges.  I wonder if coins were insured somehow, will it make a difference in saving bter from this, or it can also lead to abuse of altcoins as well?

Deja Vu. Wasn't a rollback considered for a coin that got hacked on Mintpal recently? I agree rollbacks are not in the best interests of decentralised cryptocurrency. Once something is stolen, it is stolen. Takesies backsies doesn't work for crypto.

and What do you think if a coin can have a insured type of backing to it?

its gonna take alot of luck and I dont see how doing that will cut spam when people will have to work harder for there posts to be visible then your competing with each other, it more benefits  stunna then anyone as at the moment.  This will just lead to even more spam cause you have to post more.
Well then since you think like that, how about we completely shut down campaigns and there will be no need to post more?
Your logic is beyond me. What people do with referral signatures is not Stunna's problem. If they wanted to they could make 1 post in a year,if they spammed, they will get banned eventually.
More restrictions were needed for a longer time, not just in the campaign but in the forums as well. It got out of hand, random people posting random nonsense. The campaign had too many people as it is (over 100 easily, although I do not know the exact numbers - probably never released by Stunna except that enrollment list).

I kinda agree the only way for spam to stop is close the whole forum, not the campaign, I see many posts that are spam from as much as non sigs owners to sig owners,  Im just saying it only benefits Stunna, and it wont stop spam, SPam is always going to be there, people are always going to complain and whine.  have you ever heard of this song, "Some guys have all the luck, some guys have all the pain, some guys get all the breaks, some guys just do nothing but complain"

Well between spammers and whiners, they ruined the bitcointalk forum.

Well, now I'm not a senior member, but I'm close to making 50 posts. What will happen next month then? Can I claim my payment now because I'll make the 50 posts and then search for another option? It will be good to know that.
You're being cut, effective today/tomorrow. How hard is it to understand what he said?
Once your payment gets through you can remove the signature if you want to, you will not be on the enrollment list.
~Lauda

That is correct .

U can also keep ur signature , and put ur ref link in it, and pm Stunna for 15-20% commission. That can also be rly profitable .
Here is the example of my affilliate statistics .

So when players click on ur link in ur sig, u get them as ur refs , and they are urs forever.
If they all in total wager 1000btc on 10% urs is 1btc. But when u get 15-20% that is double.

With a bit of luck that can be much more profitable than current sig campaign Cheesy .

I was thinking of what if the coin can change names and automatically mix it and then combing to one address, that would be a pretty cool blockchain for anonymizing coins
