214 is not a big target for Bangladesh but they cannot be relied on too much. If they pick up two or three more wickets early, it can have an impact on the match. But since the total score is very little, there will be no problem for Bangladesh. If they can play normally then Bangladesh can easily win this test. Today they got a chance to bat 10 overs where they collected 34 runs losing 2 wickets. Hope they can get over the score tomorrow.

I think the point that we are actually missing is that T20 and one day internationals are not in the same format. There is a big difference between these two. These smaller teams are generally good while playing T20. But they are not very good while playing the ODI.

So I don't think we can compare the Netherlands team's performance in the T20 with ODI. No way the Netherlands are going to be able to beat South Africa in the ODI. At least South Africa is not going to lose the series against the Netherlands in the ODI format.

Finally Chennai Super Kings won their home field. Although it was already assumed that this team have the high provability to win the match as it is played in their home ground. I have a little difference with my thought the run on the spin pitch would be relatively low but it did not, the total score beyond my expectation. Chennai Super Kings has collected 217 runs in the match, on the other hand, thanks to Lucknow Super Giants that they have been able to make a good score against such a big one.

In 10 years time I think we only see the big 3 playing bilateral tri series of test cricket whereas the other boards only going after T20 & ODI format. The craze for T20 might even destroy ODI. At the moment only a few countries have good viewership of ODI and only four or five teams in the world can play competitive ODI games.

South Africa vs Netherlands in the ongoing match, South Africa batted first and set a target of 370 runs in 50 overs. At the beginning of the game, I thought that Netherlands might perform well in bowling today and put South Africa team's batsmen under pressure. But they could not do that.  Netherlands. Now Netherlands come to bat. 108 runs in 19 overs. And Netherlands lost 2 wickets. But now Netherlands team need 263 runs to win.

These nations does not provide citizenships not even to Arabs from Jordan, Lebanon or Egypt who are living as refugees for decades or even born in the UAE even after a generation. The local Arabs in the UAE does not play Cricket, they only play or watch Football and love their sheesha  . There are many Cricket clubs and every club will have their teams competing against each other and i have personally played in these tournaments and majority are from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and there are many tournaments round the clock where you will be able to earn money and to be able to play for UAE you need to have a resident Visa and you need to live their for 4 years to get involved in the selection trials that is conducted.

In a hypothetical situation where you force the local Arabs to play the game who gets everything for free from the government, they will choose Football than Cricket.

I think manager issue is the biggest issue there and we need managers who run both club and national team to make that happen again. Because we see managers who only manage national teams, and those guys have like maybe 10-20 games a year at most, whereas club ones have like as much as 60 depending on which teams manager they are.

So national teams do not really pay that well, plus managers don't want to sit at home for 3 months to watch their players in clubs. If we can convince people like pep to manage Spain, or Mourinho to Portugal etc etc, while managing the club as well, that would be a good idea for sure. I think it would bring a lot of success to national teams, and more fun as well.

I don't know whether asking more countries to play the longer format is the right thing to do. Test cricket takes huge amount of resources and even the lower raked full members such as West Indies and Bangladesh are struggling to keep up. If you ask teams such as Scotland and Namibia to give more attention to the longer format (without any corresponding increase in the funds), then I don't think that it is going to be very beneficial in the long run. IMO, T20 should be the format used for expansion. The ICC should immediately expand the T20 World Cup to a minimum of 24 teams.

The fact that Neymar laughed after losing money on a bet may suggest that he can afford the loss. He's not promoting gambling and has his own life. As long as gambling is legal in his jurisdiction, it's not a big deal, and he's entitled to spend his money however he chooses.

I agree with your point of view. We have seen Bangladesh's slow batting in the last T20 World Cup as well. But now the batsmen of Bangladesh are not batting slowly. The strike rate of Liton Das was 202 in the last match. He scored 83 runs off just 41 balls. Rony Talukder's strike rate was 191. Also, Shakib 158 and Towhid Hridoy batted at 184 strike rate. Every batsman in the team is now batting brilliantly. And if this continues, the Bangladesh team will be able to challenge any big team in the future. If the top-order players are able to continue this good performance then the Bangladesh team will be able to perform well in the upcoming ODI World Cup as well.

New Zealand just lost another wicket, and they still need another 94 runs to win from 34 overs. They have enough overs to chase the target, but they are rapidly running out of batsmen. Now Henry Nicholls has joined Will Young out there in the middle, while Rachin Ravindra is supposed to come next. If they get one more wicket, then Sri Lanka maybe in an advantageous position. Lahiru Kumara has taken 2 wickets so far, and the last wicket to fall (Tom Latham) was picked up by the right-arm medium pacer Dasun Shanaka.

In the next 1 hour or so, we will get to know whether Sri Lanka needs to participate in the qualifier tournament to get in to the 2023 ODI World Cup. They are on the backfoot as of now, as New Zealand just need another 103 runs to win from 36.3 overs. At one point New Zealand was at 21/3, but then they recovered thanks to the 4th wicket partnership between Will Young and Tom Latham. They have plenty of batting down the order, in the form of Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra. The Lankan bowlers are trying their best to take wickets BTW.

I actually do not know if any new country is able to play test cricket. As I said earlier most of them are into T20 & ODI. The ICC cannot just go ahead and remove test cricket. Few countries like England, Australia and New Zealand have a good fan base of test cricket. Moreover most former and current cricketers won't allow ICC to take such a decision. This iwas the primary reason why ICC started world test championship.

I would not say that Ireland played too badly against Bangladesh. Ireland's performance was similar to their previous matches. However, Bangladesh's performance has improved tremendously. And the Bangladesh team had a great performance against England before Ireland. Earlier we saw Bangladesh batsmen batting at 80-120 strike rate. But in the last two series, most of Bangladesh's batsmen have batted at a strike rate of more than 150. And Rony and Liton's strike rate was around 200. Due to such performance of the batsmen, Bangladesh is consistently performing brilliantly.

Afghanistan hasn't played enough test matches, so that we can measure their performance. Although I would consider teams such as Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh as lower tier test nations, that doesn't mean that they can't win against teams like Afghanistan. The Afghans are very good in limited overs cricket, but they don't have much experience with the longer format. But the positive thing is that they have a well established 4-day domestic cricket tournament. The future is uncertain though, since the ICC is unable to transfer funds to them.

Of course The Bangladesh cricket team is performing at such a high level and their strength in their home country is truly impressive. Ireland may not have the same level of experience or success it is important to remember that they have played some brilliant cricket in the past and should not be underestimated It is interesting to watch these matches and see how the two teams stack up against each other and even if the results seem one sided at times there is always the possibility of a thrilling upset or unexpected turn of events. So let's sit back and enjoy the game and appreciate the unique strengths and talents of both teams.

USA lost a match they should have won. If they can't chase down a target of 199, and that too against a weak team such as Canada, how they are going to perform while playing against the full members? And the ICC want to provide them with direct qualification to the 2024 World Cup. I wasn't much interested in the match, because USA team was comprised of 100% foreigners, and the Canada squad had only one native player (Matthew Spoors). But at this point, Canada is at the top of the table, with 4 points from two matches. They won against Jersey in their inaugural match.
