I assume they'd want to use it for the convenience factor. Not a lot of banks have much crypto knowledge, so simply adopting a coin instead of making their own sounds faster and easier.
I assume no banks would ever want to use something that is not CENTRALIZED AND CONTROLLED BY THEM meaning that they will not use something that is controlled by another entity(most of them). They would prefer security over convenience thus they will create a coin of their own(centralized and fully controlled by them) for more security. Even if tehy don't have that much knowledge in crypto, they can just hire an expert. You're probably right and correct me if I'm wrong but, haven't some banks alread adopted ripple? In China or elsewhere. I'm not sure but I think I remember reading something about that.

I think Bill Gates also said something like this and he got a lot of flack for it. Prety much everything can be used for criminal activities, cash, computers, etc.

i really don't think daytrading is a good idea and generally prefer hodling, but i would try to take advantage of the unexpected situation and just sell. you never know when the coin might drop again so better act quick when possible.

it's becoming pretty hard to find real airdrops (ICOs too), so I was wondering, what are some criteria you guys look for in an airdrop? How do you find the good ones?

Brother of Drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar Launches Bizarre ICO, Claims He Met Satoshi.
I like Narcos series from Netflix but this is real life and I hate bad guys. No need support this. Obviously a scam, interesting to see if people will actually fall for this and decide to invest.

Probably has to do with whales manipulating the markets and this, in combination with inexperienced investors panic selling bc of FUD can lead to volatility.

Researched the hell out of the coin, have some general crypto knowledge, a wallet, etc. There should be some guides out there to get you started.

Definitely seems like a scam, the name alone seems dodgy. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

first give us the link to where it says they are banning Petro. then lets talk about it. this is a centralized shitcoin that is created by the country's government (Venezuela to be exact) nobody even cares about this coin and is never going to buy it. this coin was created mainly for their government to make money and fill their pockets. and if i am not mistaken it had an ICO too ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Here's what I found: https://www.ccn.com/trumps-petro-ban-cryptocurrencies-ignore-invisible-lines/But the coin itself seems pretty shady so I wouldn't worry too much about it ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) It's whatever.

having seen some great bounty managers here on bitcointalk who have done wonderfully well in the past but end up running campaigns that later turn to be Scam make me wonder if they actually do research well on any ICO before taking up the job or are they just concern about their pocket alone?
As far as i know, not all of them are checking the background because if they are checking and investigating first we wont have any scam bounty campaigns here, recently my friend has joined a scam ICO,DENARO which has stolen $10M from the investors they have used fake profiles and names,it was handled by one of the top bounty managers here so it means that these managers arent doing their homework. Not a lot of them but some do I think. So it really depends on the ICO and it's hard to say for sure.

Honestly, that might just be hype. You're better off investing in an ICO that you think will do well based on their product, team, whitepaper, etc. not because of what they say in their faq and so on. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Honestly, this is probably a good thing! It will weed out the scam ICOs and the good ones will find a way to survive, market and differentiate themselves no matter what. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Just have to focus on quality over quantity. Easier said than done, of course, and even then you still might not receive it but it'll come in due time if you focus on quality.

Do you think the market is responding to this? ETH and BTC both went up recently, even though the article reads more like FUD.
More like FOMO, not FUD if a certain news makes price rise. But the news is genuine and coins are responding positively to it already since morning today. There is a thread here that outlined the perceptions of the attending countries for the ongoing G20 summit here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3158454.msg32665435#msg32665435Good point, this is definitely great news for crypto and will probably cause bull trends.

It also comes down to how you evaluate a strong team. Professional ICO investors as Ian Balina only mark a team as strong if it consists of people that have the ability to deliver due to a combination of skills snd experience in similiar projects. This requires a lot of research and individual background checks but it is certainly worth your time.
Yeah there are too many factors but at the end of the day, it boils down to whether or not you can deliver a strong, working product that you promised in the whitepaper.

Ico will not die for sure this year, but it can change ,because new rules of governments and new rules in forums like merits and so on.
I think the new rules for ICO will bring a lot of money. Since this sphere will be more legal and many "white" money will be able to participate in ICO. I do not know when this will happen, but the current trend is as follows. Yeah I think the stricter rules and regulation will definitely reduce the amount of scam ICOs and only the good ones will survive in the end - so it's not a bad thing at all!

It is falling due to the volatility of the altcoins/tokens. The only thing when you hit rock bottom is to go up. So let's believe, dips and ups will be always part of cryptocurrencym, until due time.
Pretty much, just have to be patient and hodl. As bad as the dips are, they'll pass eventually.

Are there stil people here that believe EOS is a scam? If so, do you have any indicators it is?
So far there is zero indication it's a scam. People shout whatever mainly driven by price movements.
Did you not read the OP? He listed his reasons. Let us know why you disagree. ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
