201  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have 75KW solar power available on: May 21, 2015, 05:51:29 PM
don't rent the space.  mine on your own.  buy used s-3's  75 to 85 usd each. even less.

buy server psu's that run on 240 volts.

there are psu's sold on site for under 200 that will give 2880 watts that is 6  s-3's

so if you buy 6  s-3's for  500 usd and 1 psu for 200  you are out 700usd    oh 1 16 port switch and a router

you can mine 3000gh.  and jump to 6000gh for 700 more .

I can run 12 s-3's in a garage you can run 12 in a big shed easy.

you can see if you want a bigger expansion without betting your left nut so to speak.

6 s-3's + psu =   2400 watts  700 cash and 200 more for cables router and a switch
12 s-3's + psu = 4800 watts  700 cash  and you will not need more cables router or switch

first money up 900 usd next set of money = 700 usd

202  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: May 21, 2015, 05:31:18 PM
They are the smart company who decided to make money on just hardware and not self mining.

Most companies are more in it for all of it...  At this point you can't do so.

I guess you didn't hear the news yet. Self mining (or transaction validation, which is clearly just PR) is what they (Spondoolies) are focused on now with the merger with Bitcoinshop, an OTC company.
IF they go back to the good old days of just selling miners-I would be all for it.

Welcome to the IT world...  They build the hardware and BTCShop mines with it.  No need to sell to the public at that point.  They make money still on it.

Home mining is slowly but surely dying unless its a hobby deal...  And every idiot thinking BTC will die because of that needs to realize unless there is a major corporate backing your currency will fail in the public eye.  One smaller forum can't change the world.  lol.

Edit: And also as far as reading so many post on hardware that I've personally owned and had no problems with...  I would never want to sell to the public as a btc hardware producer.  I private entity or two with people who know what they are doing would be the best way.  I often wonder how some people who post on this forum are able to breath on their own or how they haven't burned down anything LOL.

Never fails to impress me that about 1/3 of miners only know maximum overclock as the way to mine.  May have been a good way when diff was jumping 30%.  But with diff under 5% not so good.

philipma1957 here with my secondary account.

I am running around   FRI. SAT. and Sun.

I like using this  secondary account when not in my home.

I was looking at block count for the day.

https://blockchain.info/blocks

we are at block 356582 -356467 =

115 blocks made from 00:00:00 to  18:06:31   so in 18.1 hours x 6 = 108.6 or 109 blocks

we are 6 over for today.

31 over for the adjustment period.

1766 vs 1735   the 'real' number is (+1.78%)

bitcoinwisdom's number of (+2.25%)

is assuming continued high block days  for the rest of today sat and part of sun.

31 over is pretty hard to drop back to under since we have just 250 blocks left.

206  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S5 - Chain 1 is cold on: May 15, 2015, 05:44:03 PM
Hey There
I just start using an Antminer S5, it has been running with a frequency at 400M.
I Know that it was stable at 56 degrees in the first 24 hours. After about 48 hours Chain 1 went completely Cold.

I Think that there are missing an "o" in the ASIC status, but I'm not sure Huh .
Please see the ASIC Status here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pnvit9vp1aoc2v9/antminer.jpg?dl=0

I have tried the Reset Button, but it didn't help.

It is running with a 700w PSU

I have firmware upgraded it, and it didn't help either

Please post any suggestions you might have :-)

What is your PSU brand & type?

Hi Zich
It is a Corsair HX750W (so not 700W as I wrote early)
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/professional-series-hx750-80-plus-silver-certified-modular-power-supply

And thanks for your reply :-)

i found this guy with the same problem but an s3, it should be similar anyway

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=903664.0

btw the other chain is working good? it could be that the psu is not delivering all his power

Hey Amph

Thanks for the link, I will follow it and see if they come up with a solution.
And regarding the power, - I have testet the chains one at the time, and with the same cables and connections. According to notlist3d first link :-)
So I dont think it is power.

But thanks for your input, - High five to all :-)

cheapest test to see if it is power is clock to freq 350  ..

 freq 350 = 1150gh x .51 = 586 dc

 freq 400 = 1300gh x .51 = 663 dc

Once you clock to freq 350 run it  and let us know.

Has anyone done the UNO upgrade for UNO coins?
208  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Long-Term Difficulty Speculation Thread on: May 10, 2015, 03:24:02 PM
I think difficulty will double at least 7 times in the next 5 years. The numbers and rationale for this prediction can be found here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1053412.msg11324501#msg11324501

We won't see the introduction of mining equipment orders of magnitude more powerful than at present, we will see the introduction of many many orders of magnitude greater numbers of low power devices in the 200ghs range, most likely by or in association with a public utility.

wow so 50 bill to 100 bill to 200 bill to 400 bill to 800 bill to 1600 bill to 3200 bill to 6400 bill by  may 2020.

Let me wrap my mind around that number.
So I did a calc with 6400b diff

If that happens I need a 0.07 watt per gh chip
I need 2 cent power
I need 450 price
And look what I earn
a

If he is correct coins will be 1500usd or more.  So he is in the buy and hold camp.

210  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 19th to May 1st-Closed for picks!! on: April 30, 2015, 02:42:49 AM
Slower day today less blocks made.

Price is at 225.70 coinbase.
211  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is bitcoin price sustainable with higher & higher electricity costs for mining? on: April 28, 2015, 01:01:35 PM
That money just disappears and goes back into the fiat economy in this endless stream to pay for electricty.

Actually, it doesn't disappear.  It just changes hands from the miner to someone else that wants it.

The miner has bitcoins.  The electric company wants fiat.  Someone else (lets call him Bob) has fiat and wants bitcoins. The miner must exchange his bitcoins for Bob's fiat.  That way the miner can pay the electric company, but the bitcoins haven't disappeared, they've just gone to Bob that wants them.  The loop is closed.

I am posting with my none signature account.

 Just to:
 a) respect your legendary status
 b) to agree with this post

and to add the money and the btc are closed loop just like money and gold.

The biggest problem with BTC is it does not work as well for consumers as a CC does.
No chargeback.
No price protection
No extended warranty
No points earned for purchases
No free loans as many CC's give you a 1 to 2 year free balance transfer not interest no fees.

All of the above kills Joe consumer's interest in BTC.

This means:
 inflation hedging
Speculation
an escape fund that your current government can't touch

are good reasons to have btc.

This lack of demand drives prices downward.

efficiency- power cost- diff are all set in the loop.

coin price   can go way up or way down outside of the loop of watt/power cost/difficulty.

Best way to look at it is 14 million coins at 225 usd = 3.15 billion usd

I am Bill Gates you are Warren Buffet  we make a bet lets see which one of us can own the most BTC the two of us can drive prices up to 2250 or 10x trying to win the bet .   This demand would make price high and sip the fuck out of the

watt/cost/difficulty triangle.

I am philipma1957 this is my secondary none signature account as I promised I will not post here with my signature account more then once.

Here goes my opinion on the op after I posted  to not sell the op any coins. He has fixed his issue. He does not need coins. So I guess my signature post saved the day here.

I realize some people do not like signature campaigns. They believe  posters post just to make money.  Which is why I am using this non signature account to point out that the op has fixed his problem.

He no longer needs us to sell him coins with a cc as payment.

Please let us know when you get your refund.  It seems like ebay is stalling you for your 385 usd refund. They dropped the seller from ebay yet you do not have a refund.
