Man I keep trying to buy with what little BTC I have remaining from mining other currencies, and the price is going up too fast to even do that.
We're just hit 0.0005 as well. I wonder where this sudden burst came from?

I don't know what to believe anymore, the official net hashrate is way off and this isn't that accurate either. I doubt the difficulty will be that high at the next retarget though, it's only been like 2-3 blocks since the diff spike so the difficulty estimate is probably a lot higher than it truly would be. |

Even at this diff should be about 25 Minutes a block, meainging we should be good to go in 9 hours. It's not that bad. Keep mining.
Oh that's good news then. I just hope that Middlecoin will leave us alone for a while as well (though something tells me they won't give a flying shit compared to Hashcows). |

Man it was Middlecoin that put us in that terrible position before the fork.
Those saying that Catcoin needed some kind of anti-switchpool protection were spot on. Too bad another fork now to implement that is out of the question.

How the hell did that happen? None of the pools have that much hashrate, yet the estimated hashrate according to catcoins.biz/charts is over 2GH/s.

In spite of everything that's happened, I still firmly believe that Catcoin is one of the only Altcoins that has a real chance of surviving this crash (people seem to keep forgetting that CAT is NOT the only coin that dropped by a huge amount over the last week, and it would have dropped far lower if it weren't for the fork). Its status as the Scrypt Bitcoin and its strong community will see it rise back up to new highs soon enough.
I'm starting to think that those pushing for people to sell at the moment have a vested interest in doing so (whether it be to drop the price down further so that they can load up on CAT themselves because they see the bigger picture or as an attempt to kill off one of the only Altcoins that actually stand a chance long-term).

If you bought the coins > 0.001 BTC each, think of it this way - your downside potential by keeping the coin is that you lose the remainder of the value of what you put (which is less than 45% of what you put in); the upside potential is - well, keep in mind this coin will never exist in more abundance than BTC itself, not many people know about this coin yet, but it is conceptually the most analogous to BTC of all the Scrypt coins. There may be some large holders who are out there trying to manipulate the market to make the coin seem worthless, in the hopes of vacuuming up as many coins as possible while it is still cheap - if so, it's up to you to hold tight and not be tricked by doom and gloom talk. It's never a good idea to act on panicked emotions of the moment - if you really are considering selling off, consider giving yourself 15 minutes to cool off, go take a walk or something, then if you still must, then go ahead, but at least you gave yourself time enough to avoid acting from panic of the moment, this sort of taking time will always improve the quality of decisions. And just remember, a lot of people sold off BTC at $5 each, after it crashed down from $30 each back in 2011, thinking they were limiting their losses. Just imagine what those people must feel about that decision now.
Yeah I bought in at around 0.001, so I'm just going to wait it out. It'll get back up there sooner or later. And as for your 2011 BTC example, a similar thing just happened surprisingly enough. BTC hit around $1020 earlier despite the China ban and such. I bet anyone that sold after the crash late last year would be absolutely kicking themselves right now. |

No matter how bad it gets I'm going to wait. Not going to sell at less than half price when I can just sit on my CAT and recover that way (and possibly even profit significantly).
Really, if Catcoin was going to die off it's already had 2-3 chances for that to happen, yet here we are. People need to put the situation into perspective; we're not the only coin suffering massively at the moment. Once BTC corrects and settles back down things should start getting back to normal.
All things considered, we handled the hard fork so goddamned well.

We now see all the people who just wanted to buy at any price but couldn't even transfer their coins to the exchanges, it will take some days... You mean those who just wanted to sell.. I assume. This coin is garbage it will not stop dropping till it hits the floor it seems i have lost my ass on the hollow words and loyalty to a coin that was all hype from the startl. My own fault and stupidity just felt i had to vent sorry Catcoin isn't the only coin that has dropped in price lately. Take a look at the other Altcoins. BTC has been increasing in value lately, which naturally drives the price of altcoins down, at least for a while. Also there's a ~23k CAT buy wall @ 0.00045 (or over 10BTC worth) and another 22.5k CAT buy wall @ 0.00044 (another ~10BTC), no way it's dropping below that. |

Actually I think I know one of the main reasons Coinium is still so large at the moment: It's the only major pool currently active with only 60 confirms for round earnings, other than Luckyminers which has 59 (Poolerino seems to be down and I'm not aware of any of the other major pools having 60 confirmations, hell Team Catcoin has 200).
I don't think this problem will truly go away until more pools bring the confirmation time down.

IMO all of the larger pools should lock registration or something for a few days. Let the smaller ones soak up some of the hashrate.
Coinium seems to be gaining even more hashrate as time goes on as well. Something needs to be done or another fork is inevitable. Catcoin may not survive any more major forks.

Technically the launch was actually quite good so far, but I'm still pissed that I missed out on early solo mining due to a typo by the dev.
