201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bitfury is looking for alpha-testers of first chips! FREE MONEY HERE! on: September 09, 2013, 04:22:06 AM
Lol... the shopping list is getting longer... those sparkfun guys are going to love me.

The advice/recommendations are very much appreciated.

Hehe since your pictures are good if you wouldn't mind showing what this looks like after you have cut the traces and soldered anything that would be cool.

Just in case I need to do this in the future id like to see how its actually done.

All you should need in your interface file for a static ip is below. One last edit reading back it looks like a few of just need to add the last line for DNS to make this work. Without the DNS it has no idea where to go thats why the dhcp is fixing it, its adding the DNS from the router Smiley

#Put you own IPs here these are just examples

auto eth0
    iface eth0 inet static
        address 192.0.2.7
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        gateway 192.0.2.254

# This is for dns, my example is using the open-dns ips

203  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 27, 2013, 07:02:15 PM
Received my two units last night, both running fantastic. I must say they truly are a work of art, great Job Burnin.

I have them running at 435mhz, 1335 mv, 28m. Im not sure I understand the timing part ill have to read back to find where that was discussed but it definitely fixes the rejected duplicate work issue I started with.

Running them any higher seems to run up the heat quite fast, so I think I need to find a better way to cool them before I go any higher.

The default assumptions on that calculator need to be questioned. It basically says by the end of the year no ASICs out there will be returning a profit. If that is the case then people will simply switch them off and the difficulty will stop rising.

They won't switch them all off at once, the Avalon and ASICminer chip based ones will be the first, as they are the least power efficient.

I appreciate it, I just wanted to know where it was from so I could mess with it, pretty nice.

Yeah, I was just answering the question. I'm not happy with that calculator either.  Among other things, it assumes a constant rate of increase in difficulty.  At the default settings, that means the difficulty a year from now would be 200x the current value.  I think that's a tad extreme, and probably unrealistic.  Lowering the Difficulty Increase/month from 62% to 52% means it would be 100x the current difficulty after a year.  A small change can make a big difference when compounded over a year.

Aside from that, it limits its profitability calculations to one year.

just a fyi to all..

If they deliver in sept.. but who knows sept could be sept 31st still Smiley

the longer we wait as a community for stuff the harder it is to make an ROI.. not impossible, esp people who pay for power..

So what ever company Knc, company b, c or d.. so prices need to come down on hardware.. I know boxes dont cost 7k to make Smiley anyhow..

Where do I find that really nice calculator?

I just purchased 2 October full kits, Will one PSU be able to power both, and how do I get the PSU to turn on without being connected to a monther board?

thanks!

You can buy one of these http://www.robotshop.com/cytron-atx-power-supply-breakout-board-right-angle-2.html, or just jump it by putting a paperclip in the right two pins, really easy I have 2 that have been jumped for over a year with a paper clip and electrical tape.

I was wondering how people are calculating ROI for the 400 gh October units.

Using this bitcoin spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmXn4BnLUgYsdEF0TUtWUWtUaUUzR1F2aUhEWW9lN2c#gid=0

putting in an initial difficulty of 150 million with a 10% increase every 10 days still gives me a healthy ROI.

Great calculator, thanks for this and I agree no matter how I ran it ROI was pretty quick.

I am really want to know how overclocking will work with these, it appears that 2.7 was a speed tested when you look at the reel Link, and I have seen 3.4, back a little bit in the post. Moving from 1.5 stock to 3.4 with proper cooling would be a nice boost. I am guessing you guys will be selling cooling kits at a later date as add on? I am sure you don't have that info to give right now Dave but I cant help being curious and wanting to ask.

Also do I understand correctly that if you buy one of the kits you can add H boards to it at any time?

Is there going to be an OCT batch for the 25s or will there be more offered soon? I missed it by an hour it seems.

Yes they arrived with Makomk 200 on them.

Would I expect a better result with the dynamic clocking if so where can i find that?

thanks btw, day 2 and the learning continues !

Yes you will get better results with the dynamic clocking bitstream from glasswalker, mine has run for months stable on the glasswalker bitstream at 215-229 m\hash. However there is a problem with Bfgminer where they aggressivly downclock, some sort of wierd bug., if this bug wasent there Id use Bfgminer. I use MPBM Miner instead since thats what Glasswalker built them to run on and it works great other than failover. For whatever reason when MPBM failover accurs a few times the cm1 Downclock and you have to reboot MPBM.

hi

I have same problem on raspberry pi when I try run cgminer i have this error:
Icarus Detect: Test failed at /dev/ttyUSB0: get 00000000, should: 000187a2

thanks for any advice

br
malin

This most likely a bad USB cable, or your Bitstream needs to be reloaded. Is this a Cainsmore or an actual Icarus? if its an Icarus then cable and or USB hub is probably the issues. With the Cainsmore it really wants a Powered USB hub, and good cable, also make sure you are putting the bitstream on with a good cable and a laptop with a powered USB or an external powered USB.

Hope this helps.

You can use Bfgminer, Luke's version of Cgminer.
218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cairnsmore2 - What would you like? on: March 27, 2013, 09:07:17 PM
Id be interested, my Cainsmore 1 still running strong.
219  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch 3 is almost $6000 on: March 27, 2013, 03:19:21 PM
I dunno I still get paid in USD, so that means I need to earn now $6536 USD to purchase. I wont argue the value of the Avalon because I still think its worth it however I wont be able to earn one any time soon.

Sad part is I planned on buying one at the 1499 price, and had the money saved to do so.

Id rather the BTC prices stayed tied to whatever we get Paid in, until maybe one day we get paid in BTC, or heck maybe you already are getting paid in BTC.
220  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What is the price of Batch 3? on: March 23, 2013, 07:02:56 PM
My question is how Much BTC is my Icarus Trade in now worth? Is it still tied to the 300USD, or do I get a BTC value for it?
