wallet 169 crashing every two hours or so. debug file shows long list of orphaned blocks, ending in "ERROR: CheckProofOfStake() : INFO: check kernel failed on coinstake ...." which results in crash. when wallet restarts, no stake.
any ideas what this is?

On wallet 196 for 36 hours now, minting / weight / network all ok. Stake balance zero. No unlock / lock option. What am I missing here?
Edit: Solution found. Post on forum and stake balance appears within seconds.

so, the question of "what security risk" is involved in POS coins that every coin is susceptible to just got answered in the most brutal way possible.
? VRC 51% attack just became a very real scenario, they don't need half the coins... just half the staking amount, of which more than 51% was stolen. I cant say whether that is the problem cloakdevs fixed or not, but I imagine it has something to do with that. It's at least a sobering reminder to keep your coins in your wallet... Where did these details come from? check the VRC thread? wow. scary reading. |

are you fucking kidding me? the "slproweb" link has been posted like 50 times in as many pages, and now i find out that THIS is the official link? what the fuck... why isn't this on the OP, come on dagger, i understand you're busy, but this is a big deal. get some links on the OP please ASAP. now i'm unsure of what the hell i downloaded cause it was just a random link off this thread, as that's the closest iv'e come to any "official" link to getting a working wallet. we've been asking for over a week, and people have been having issues for longer than that, why isn't this a quick fix? i dont know why u mad , openssl.org send you to slproweb to download that file . so its the official link . i agree it should be added in OP , but alty is busy right now unsecured website. unverified certificate. owned by a private programmer. great place to click on an .exe link. not. |

Anyone else having mintpal issues? Have a withdrawal stuck at "confirmed / shortly" for several hours now. No answer yet from support.
I had no issue with Mintpal yesterday but I did have an issue with Crypsty and here is what they sent me: "Currently CLOAK is offline for maintenance and you will not be able to view balance, withdraw or deposit until CLOAK returns. Please know that your coins are safe, and CLOAK should be returning soon." - 7/12/14 10:02 P EDT I still haven't received the CLOAK coins just yet.. Finally came thru after 4 hrs for me. |

Word of caution - be careful downloading / installing libraries & OpenSSL from forum links. This sort of link really should only be in the OP link. Very tempting place for bad guys to post links containing wallet sniffers etc.

How's this for an argument -
You are the public, and disclosing security vulnerabilities affecting financial systems to the public without giving developers ample time to solve the issue is unethical. If one of the other devs is contacting TheDagger trying to get some information or participate in a global PoS fix and TheDagger isn't permitting their contribution, that's one thing - but I haven't seen a single developer asking for the description of this issue just users who could potentially abuse it not fix it. If you're a coin dev, you should have been PMing TheDagger on Sunday when this issue was announced asking for more details or to contribute. As is it just looks like scared investors wanting more information than they are entitled to. Even if a dev were to pop out of the woodwork now and ask for details on the PoS issue, I as a developer wouldn't give it to them. They didn't take the Cloak devs seriously about the issue in the first place, they aren't taking them seriously now. Cloak devs shouldn't be working for free for people who aren't interested, invested, or willing to contribute to a fix.
Ahh. But 'twas not me (the public) that released the info. It was the coin. So that bridge was crossed. In a very deliberate fashion. That's how this was set in play. |
