201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Coin2.1 [C2] - The forward thinking PoW-PoS coin (FPS GAME DEV. UNDER WAY). on: June 18, 2014, 03:42:46 PM
Thank for this.

So is it a good idea to unlock the wallet and let the POS/minting work?

Thanks

How does the POS work?

Don't really understand the POS/POW jargon to be honest!

Is it safe to unlock the C2.1 wallet for POS and when and how does it all work?

Help understanding it all is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!  Smiley

Proof of Stake is a proposed alternative to Proof of Work. Like proof of work, proof of stake provides a mechanism for determining who signs bitcoin transactions (see "main" bitcointalk thread, and a Bounty Thread).

It was probably first proposed here by Quantum Mechanic. With Proof of Work, the probability of mining a block depends on the work done by the miner (e.g. CPU/GPU cycles spent checking hashes). With Proof of Stake, the resource that's compared is the amount of Bitcoin a miner holds - someone holding 1% of the Bitcoin can mine 1% of the "Proof of Stake blocks".

Some argue that methods based on Proof of Work alone might lead to a low network security in a cryptocurrency with block incentives that decline over time (like bitcoin) due to Tragedy of the Commons, and Proof of Stake is one way of changing the miner's incentives in favor of higher network security.

A proof of work is a piece of data which was difficult (costly, time-consuming) to produce so as to satisfy certain requirements. It must be trivial to check whether data satisfies said requirements. Producing a proof of work can be a random process with low probability, so that a lot of trial and error is required on average before a valid proof of work is generated. Bitcoin uses the Hashcash proof of work.

One application of this idea is using hashcash as a method to preventing email spam, requiring a proof of work on the email's contents (including the To address), on every email. Legitimate emails will be able to do the work to generate the proof easily (not much work is required for a single email), but mass spam emailers will have difficulty generating the required proofs (which would require huge computational resources).

Hashcash proofs of work are used in Bitcoin for block generation. Proofs of work that are tied to the data of each block are required for the blocks to be accepted. The difficulty of this work is adjusted so as to limit the rate at which new blocks can be generated by the network to one every 10 minutes. Due to the very low probability of successful generation, this makes it unpredictable which worker computer in the network will be able to generate the next block.

For a block to be valid it must hash to a value less than the current target; this means that each block indicates that work has been done generating it. Each block contains the hash of the preceding block, thus each block has a chain of blocks that together contain a large amount of work. Changing a block (which can only be done by making a new block containing the same predecessor) requires regenerating all successors and redoing the work they contain. This protects the block chain from tampering.

The most widely used proof-of-work scheme is SHA-256, which was introduced by Bitcoin. Some other hashing algorithms that are used for proof-of-work include scrypt, Blake-256, CryptoNight,[1] HEFTY1, Quark, SHA-3, scrypt-jane, scrypt-n, and combinations.

203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Need some help! Windows mining software for X11 on: June 18, 2014, 02:11:45 PM
Trying to get my head around all this mining jargon!

From what I understand X11 is more profitable than Scrypt?

I currently use GUIminer-Scrypt but from what I understand I can't mine an X11 coin from that.

So whats the best 'user friendly' x11 software out there for windows?

Thanks for you help.

Hi,

Do you still need a Coin logo Design?

Also what do you need regarding Facebook and Twitter?

Thanks
205  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone to build a website from a Design on: June 18, 2014, 12:20:32 PM
Thanks guys, but I actually don't want to use that pixel thingy. I'ts just the same idea I'm going for (selling advertising space in exchange for litecoins/altcoins instead of bit coin).

I can PM the person who's most interested with the homepage design and a PDF to illustrate how it works to give you more of an idea.

General brief.

A website dedicated to selling advertising slots for cheap altcoin prices. The slots can be used to advertise anything (within reason) and will link to the user specified url.

 - The advertising slots are of a set size
 - When the user clicks on a slot a popup is displayed containing a form and wallet addresses to send payment to
 - The form needs to be filled out and their advert (jpg) uploaded
 - I will receive the users details, advert image & url for advert etc, approve it and load onto website once payment has gone thru.
 - Their advert will then remain in their chosen slot for 4 weeks. Then after that time unless the user pays for another 4 weeks the slot will become available again.

 - There will be a homepage, about us and category pages for the adverts to be sorted into. (categories include 'Bitcoin & Altcoin', 'Automotive', 'Technology' etc)
 - The user can choose to advertise on the homepage or within a category (homage is slightly more expensive).

 - Good website SEO is vital to make the site successful and to make it worth while for the user. Possibly in the future the user could be emailed a weekly automated analytic report?  Huh

Not sure the best way to build this? Wordpress?... I'm hoping one of you could help me with this.

No mega rush on the build, to be done as and when you have spare time to do it.

Budget.... good point.... very little. I could pay with Altcoins (C2.1, Doge)?

Title says it all.

Have an idea and design for a website which sells advertising space for Altcoins.

Similar website i.e http://www.bitcoinposter.com

Just need a talented web developer to bring my design to life.

PM or leave your interest here. Can pay you in Bitcoin, Altcoins or Cex.io GH/s?

Thanks

I have 626.2 C2 sitting in my HashCows account that have been pending to my wallet for over 5 days.

What do I do about those?
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will the price of Doge every rise again? on: May 15, 2014, 03:28:42 PM
I think at one point in February it reached 280 Satoshis.

Will it ever see this again, price is just sitting doing nothing for ages now.

212  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: btc-arbs.com - Daily ROI (0.01-10%) Update: withdrawal problems on: May 01, 2014, 01:33:35 PM
I put in the minimum 0.05 a week ago, then found out it's probably all a scam a day later. Couldn't withdraw my funds and it now looks as though they have shut shop.

Website isn't working.  Sad   Roll Eyes

Although 0.05 isn't much it took me a while to get that through giveaways etc.

Feel sorry for those that invested big bucks!
