201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DASH? on: February 05, 2020, 12:54:44 PM
Anyway, this coin has failed to fulfill the hopes from the investors. During the past two years or so, it has lost more than 90% of its value.

Most altcoins lost between 80% to 95% of their value, during the bear market. It is a bit unfair to just pin that on Dash.

And you sure missed out, by not investing in Dash before 2017. But lets be realistic : every cryptocurrency is subject to manipulation, has pumps and dumps, is volatile and is subject to
long term trends / cyclus. Maybe when there is mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency in general in 5-10-15 years or more, that will change. Or maybe not.

It is definitely oversold and will bounce back hard.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5600 XT hashrate on: February 05, 2020, 12:53:31 PM
what the best algo for 5600XT-5700XT?
Memory hard algorithms , Ethash. Best coins to mine probably will be ETH and ETC.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to mine Ethereum. on: February 05, 2020, 12:52:12 PM
I also want to start mine ethereum, i don't know how to setup program for it. Which program to use?

Using HiveOS , easiest mining software to use .
installation guide here.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to mine Ethereum. on: February 03, 2020, 01:04:52 PM
Yes it is obviously true that when price sky-rockets you make lots however keep in mind that how high do you think ETH will reach in 2020 or 2021? You need to be realistic and realise that the bull run in 2017 which took ETH from $10 to $1400 won't happen again.

It would mean that ETH would need to go from $180 to $25200 per ETH, which is a figure that BTC might not hit anytime soon. So sure if you mine today per GPU you make like $0.25/per GPU/per day. So if you hold all these coins you would make $35/per GPU/per day.

However if you invested $10000 into the coin directly then you would net $1,400,000. Which is way more than you would get from mining. Keep in mind those figures most likely will never occur.
Think we are in bull run already. Not sure where we are going to top, wish i knew Smiley But we dont need to reach so high to make same gains as 2017. You need actually lot more hardware as the total network hash-rate is growing to kill profitability, then when network is smaller. 2017 /2018 there was no gpus available anywhere. So what would happen if we would need twice as many gpus as they where demanded end of 2017.
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DASH? on: February 03, 2020, 12:54:24 PM
DASH is a fairly good coin with a lot of benefits over Bitcoin. Personally, I'm accumulating as I get it but I don't particularly go out of my way to get it. Got it?

DASH = CASH
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Proof Of Work and Ethereum Proof of Stake on: January 31, 2020, 10:38:16 AM
I think he is wrong on his interpretation. As far as I know ethereum will totally shifted into PoS Blockchain completely. That is a waste if they only splitting their chain into PoW and PoS. Might better if they can do a hybrid blockchain but that would take a lot of works to do, synchronizing both consensus. But there are some projects already doing this such as veil. IMO, ethereum needs a total upgrade and the decision about PoS is a solid one. There is no growth in PoW as eth network becomes more congested.
It will but it wont happen straight away, it will be hybrid from start . Was reading something that 1 block POS and 100 POW and repeat. It will take years till its fully switched
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to mine Ethereum. on: January 31, 2020, 10:17:53 AM
I would go for RX5700. Couple of benefits :
  • if you are planing to use all 40kw, then with RX5700 you would get more total hashrate
  • price per hash is about the same
  • RX5700 has less power usage watt per hash
  • RX5700 better resale value
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Proof Of Work and Ethereum Proof of Stake on: January 30, 2020, 11:39:23 AM
Recently, I found a tweet about the Ethereum, which the current proof of the work system of Ethereum and the much-awaited of everyone, the proof of stake of Ethereum. But still, development of the Ethereum 2.0 or they say Ethereum will become proof-of-stake.

But I found this tweet on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ercwl/status/1222233953739968515

That twitter user is something telling that the Ethereum (proof-of-work) will have different coins to the upcoming Ethereum(proof-of-stake).
Does it really true? It's like something a fork, a fork that will generate a new coin based on the coin, just like the Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.

What can you say about that tweet?

As far as i understand it will come in stages. first stage is phase 0, basically ETH 2.0 where ETH2.0 will be a side chain run from smart contract. Eventually you will swap your eth tokens to eth2.0

209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about DASH? on: January 30, 2020, 11:35:49 AM
What do you think about DASH for investing?

Investing in DASH was much better start of January.... ha
But i guess it will never be the right time to buy or sell coin. As it is impossible to predict the coin lowest and highest price.
Dash overall is very nice setup, fast, quite anonymous and still very cheap from all time highs.
I have split DASH master-node for couple years now, and it is very good time to acquire one now  . As it can bring you additional 5-6 Dash , in master-node rewards.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5600 XT hashrate on: January 30, 2020, 10:05:58 AM
It is cut on half every 4 years. It was cut on half just after Antminer S9 released, and it was still profitable for another 3 years. Technically long term Bitcoin price should increase unless demand stays the same or more. Simple math. Less daily supply should push price up.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 5600 XT hashrate on: January 29, 2020, 09:52:06 AM
All this is great but what about pos?  Any idea on a date?  I have cheap electricity and would buy a lot but with pos looming i can't justify it.

PoS? Proof of stake aint coming that soon, but as it does change from my understanding it will be phased in (hybrid - bit of both). Unfortunately its the value of crypto being so low right now that will take much longer to return on the investment. Your call.

I think the 5600 cards will be nicely placed for AMD friendly algo's, but they need to be around the £200 mark rather than the launch price of £270 that we are seeing.

Yeah it will be hybrid at least for few years, so there is a litlebit of mining still top go.

Good news but are they switching to prgpow?  Its temping to buy an eth ASIC but they are pretty expensive.
Buying an ETh asic is most riskiest as buying an asic miner. You better get Latest BTC miner, which would be much safer.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 85TH/s 📼 Antminer S17 custom firmware Overclocking on: January 28, 2020, 10:53:35 AM
installing firmware from not trusted the third party still a risky behaviour!
Some trusted authority has certified the firmware?
Hiveos has 500k user accounts, it is trusted software developer.
Have been using their sofwares for years now.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 85TH/s 📼 Antminer S17 custom firmware Overclocking on: January 28, 2020, 10:44:42 AM

For years now there has been possibilities to increase Bitmain bitcoin miners “antminer” efficiency with custom firmware. It is understandable that Bitmain don’t want their customers to change overclock on their asic miners. OC changes could possibly kill or damage hardware in some cases when chip oc and voltages applied to much. Overclock could kill miner it self or power supply. This is one of the reasons why Bitmain lately locks down their miners firmware, they dont want customers to do any changes on them.

The factory settings are standard, whoever is mining for while now. Knows that from some chips you can get better efficiency, just because quality of every chip is not the same. Lately there is been released an upgrade firmware and manual for Antminer S17 from hiveOS. HiveOS is gpu and asic miner monitoring/remote control. They previous firmware for Antminer S9 and T9 has been very successful. We have done review on this firmware also, and the best feature what Bitmain original firmware does not have is auto-chip tuning. It works very well, basically it finds the most optimal chip oc and the voltages to reach best efficiency.

We have now also tested the new firmware for Antminer S17, it does perform much better then Bitmain original firmware. On Antminer S17 53TH/s version , air cooled miner we where able to reach 75TH/s @3300 watts. It worked very well and setup is straight forward. It is possible to reach even better performance up to 85 TH/s , but you will need immersion cooling. As with air cooled at 75 th/s our miner chip temperatures where close to 80c at room temperature 15c. Also be careful , Bitmani stock power supply Antminer S17 max power usage is 3500 watts.

hiveOS asic miner the installation guide :

Notes
And now let’s go back to the installation process. There is no universal manual, for S17 and S17 Pro there are 3 versions of stock firmware. Therefore, every particular case has its own manual on the custom firmware installation.

Please note, that all the manual steps which involve using BTCTOOLS can be done via ASIC’s web interface (BTCTOOLS is usually used for a large number of devices).

Preparation Stage (required for all the options):
1 .Download and unzip the following archive: http://download.hiveos.farm/asic/repo/fw/Antminer/s9k-s9se-st15-st17-installer.zip.

Scan the network using BTC_TOOLS and export the list to csv. From csv, copy the IP list and insert it in ips.ini. In case you don’t have a lot of devices, you can make this list manually. Or use bitmain ipreporter tool.
Go to config.ini and check login and password for the ASIC’s SSH or web interface. If the password for the web interface was changed, the same would be for SSH. Set up FARM_HASH to connect to Hive or API, if necessary.

Download the firmware file (it has to have “Hiveon” in its title): http://download.hiveos.farm/asic/s17/
For S17 and S17 Pro, we offer the same firmware file. However, there are two options: “signed” and “nosigned” firmware. The signed firmware can be updated ONLY to another signed Hiveon firmware via ASIC’s web interface or BTC_TOOLS. Third-party or official firmware can’t be installed in this way. However, you can use the rm -rf /etc/bitmain-pub.pemcommand — send it to your ASICs via the Hive web. It will temporarily delete the certificate, but you can reboot your ASIC to bring it back. After this, you will be able to move to any firmware via the firmware update menu (in the Hive web). It will be possible to choose the firmware from the list or to use the URL.

The signed firmware can be downloaded here: http://download.hiveos.farm/asic/s17/Antminer-S17-S17pro-Hiveon-1.00-sign.tar.gz

If the stock firmware of your ASIC is released before 1 July 2019
Flash your devices with a file from the archive “remsigallbefore_2019–07–01.tar.gz”. This can be done via either ASIC’s web interface or BTC_TOOLS in case you have a lot of devices. You will see an error in status, but this is okay — it should be like this at the moment.
Flash the devices with the firmware file. Again, this can be done via either ASIC’s web interface or BTC_TOOLS.
Launch “3hashfarmforsigned.cmd” from the archive. The ASIC will get connected to the web.
Stock firmware released from July 2019 to December 2019
Launch “1openssh.cmd” from the archive and wait for the script to be performed. The devices will be rebooted. After the reboot, wait for around 3 minutes.

Launch “2upgradereplace.cmd” from the archive and wait for the script to be performed.

Flash the devices with the firmware file (via either ASIC’s web interface or BTC_TOOLS)

Launch “3hashfarmforsigned.cmd” from the archive. The ASIC will get connected to the web.

Please be aware you could damage your hardware by applying new overclock to your Antminer S17 . Biggest downside of this is that there is 2.8% dev fee. I know quality product is never for free, but cheaper option would be better Wink

Yes, both are the same. I tried many different options. It’s bad that there is no way to view logs in the firmware.

I seen someone updated to latest firmware and got less speed about 320 mh/s , did you try older firmware. I see current latest available is v1.7

Not bad what is the power draw from the wall?

Well Im trying to use that only button that can change anything - DEBUG.
IDK what does this button do, but one of the boards was missing in my miner. Ive set it to 3 (just random low number) and the board is visible and hashing now.
That button resets your settings to factory default  as far as i know.
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Failure!🎬 StrongU STU-U6 dash coin miner review. on: January 21, 2020, 11:35:10 AM
at least they replied, they are still alive Smiley
Yes asked them also if they declared bankruptcy , answer was NO

still, I guess they won't make any firmware updates, atleast changing frequency should be available (not to mention undervolting to achieve lower consumption)

interesting is that miner is daily gaining average hashrate if I don't interrupt / change pools, it runs constantly now for six days on one pool and it gained 1 ghs  from yesterday (430 ghs now) while power consumption is 1920w

None of the ASIC manufacturers wants you to do your own over-clocks on miner. This could kill the hardware faster. You could only undervolt on overclock your miner when someone makes custom firmware.
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experiment , generate more bitcoin by buying TOP 10 alt-coins 2020. on: January 20, 2020, 11:27:25 AM
I prefer to focus on top alts now like eth, Tron, litecoin. Seems like we are nearing the bullish trend very soon, because BTC is doing really incredible. For small investors this could probably be the best chance to make use of this market, hopefully the market will gear up and comeback stronger than before.
what I'm worried about is the price of bitcoin which suddenly dropped and bled, altcoin is still very cheap for a pair on BTC, hopefully altcoin season can come as soon as possible
Its in accumulation phase Wink , most of the top coins seems performing better then BTC even on a pull back.
