And verily the drought was broken!
And 2 BTC in transaction fees!

I was trying to imply that the price will rise after the halfing.
But I'm mining with two R606's.

curious - why would the miners have to pay to have the pool open?
I think to answer Stryfe's question and to put the best construction on it we have to realize and admit that a solo pool is no longer profitable nor maintainable out of it's own resources. But a solo pool is still very beneficial to the entire community. We all should have a solo pool in our failover list. Solo mining for the individual is very difficult these days so having access to this solo pool is very beneficial to all.

Maybe I'll have $2.38 of dust soon. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Where did it say that we had to pay to the update hardware?
I'm the one that said that in one of my replies. Isn't that what happened? New, more powerful server in a new datacenter? Sorry if that is not correct. I'm also happy to see the solo pool will be staying for the foreseeable future.

I'm still waiting on $1.19 USD of Dust. I'll be in some high cotton when I finally get that. I'll have really think hard on how to spend it. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

this I get - but why should the pool miners pay for updated hardware vs the pool operator - who should be the one to do so, or am I wrong?
Because they are free to make contributions if they want to. It's all documented in the last 3 or 4 pages of this thread. Why do Tax Payers in the US pay for football stadiums? At least the folks here have the opportunity to decide for themselves on how they want to spend their money.

owe is not pay, but that might changed, I did not look all the times on the thread. I used to mine at kano too, until it get to big and the small miners dropped to dustlevel.
It was stated that dust will be paid in the next block. Dust level is well under 1THs and always has been as far a I know.

|
curious - why would the miners have to pay to have the pool open?
Nobody HAD to. They decided to pay for updated hardware. Read back in the thread as the answer is quite clear.

Phil, Who runs mmpool? I've seen you write about them before but I have no idea who they are?
|
|
|
Running a miner with less then 200 TH is not worth moving to kano, it will only produce dust, and that will never be paid.
Solo.ckpool.org is at the moment the only alternative
I'm at 2Ths and am well above the dust level. And dust will be paid out. So you are incorrect. Also pool mining and solo mining are completely different. The OP was asking about pooled mining alternatives. The solo pool is an excellent option to put into the failover list for those of us mining on a traditional pool. Or for lottery type mining, of course. I wholeheartedly support the solo pool for those scenarios.

|
Oh, so Ckpool.org itself is going to continue for miners in solo mode?
No, the solo pool will continue to run, ckpool.org has shutdown. However pool.ckpool.org will redirect to the solo pool now.
Alternatives to ckpool.org, for pooled mining not solo: Kano.is Bitminter.com

my only question is - how are you mining XMR with a sha-256 miner? or am I misunderstanding?
Sounds to me like he's mining the alt's with CPU cores.

The blocks seem to be rolling in at pretty good clip at the moment.
But I suppose we could see a difficulty drop, at least initially. I expect it to be like the other diff drops and stabilize after a short while.

I haven't set it up to access it remotely yet
Knowing issues others have had I would not setup remote access from the S9 directly to the internet. I would setup a VPN into my local network and then access it on the LAN. Much safer.

Haha, that's ok. I'm tinkering at this stage so I'm not too bothered, but it'd be nice to see it communicating properly.
I'm just using the URL and port off the website: solo.ckpool.org:3333
Make sure you entered your Bitcoin address correctly and that it is the same address as your looking for stats for. S9's have been known to be hacked and pointed elsewhere. My setup is currently sidehack's R606's. So I see the full CGMiner stats on my Pi 4. So I'm accustomed to seeing more detailed info in real time. I don't know what type of info an S9 shows you.

It's an antminers S9 SE 17T
Well your way out of my league with an S9. I would ask what pool URL and Port are you mining to?
|
|
|
I've pointed my ASIC at the pool and have been submitting heaps of shares for the last two hours, but I can't see a stats page for my BTC address yet.
What ASIC do you have? What's your hashrate? How do you know your submitting heaps of shares? What's your Bitcoin address?

Looks like the announcement thread pictures are not displaying. Maybe it's me on my end?
Just looking to refresh on the voltage settings and how they look displayed on the unit.
The pic's in that thread have been down for a really long time now. Here's the reply I got from the other thread: What happened to the images in the top post? They are all gone or blocked.
Photobucket blocked them because they are trying to extort $399 per year subscription fee for those who want to hotlink images from Photobucket’s servers to display elsewhere. You can still see the pics if you go directly to Sidehack's photobucket's page: https://s648.photobucket.com/user/sidehack128/library?page=1. You have to disable your adblocker though and Photobucket has more ads than AOL back in 1999. If you go there, be prepared to be gang-raped by pop-ups, loud videos about household cleaning products, and countless banners trying to convince you to buy a printed mug of the TR-606. Photobucket sounds like a ransomware racket, I'm surprised they're not asking for payment in Bitcoin to see your own pics.
