201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for altcoin to get involved in on: April 25, 2014, 03:12:05 PM
Spoetnik said it best, if you detail how your mining rig is setup than others with the same or similar setup could come forward with best settings for specific networks and a history of earnings, much better than running back into your post's to see if you have it detailed in another thread, any of us could just post something of our favorite coin hoping to draw you and others into the web that we support and would like to see grow.
So what is your setup?

Maybe a super market bakery can give you free stuff after its too old to sell? Wish I could get some of those Bfl cubes for free that people are starting to turn off.
On another note, I give free advice, not sure you could apply it practically though, my friends tend to question whether its advice or just talk sometimes, I like to think I am leaving them with something anyway  Cheesy

Almost anything is possible, isn't that correct?

Almost everything, when something is not possible does anyone find it aggravating?

Phinneaeus where you been lately? Is your post playing fair?
205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the current state of the X11 algo? What is your favorite mining algo? on: April 23, 2014, 07:09:38 PM
Personally all this hype about ASIC resistance is not needed. All the hate of AsicS is that it harms decentralization right? what if AsicS wer e cheap enough for everyone to use? For example some USB miners are like $100 and do 300 kh/s from zeusminer or the ones from fibonacci do like 8 mh/s or something and are like $350. Surely people mining can afford that?

+1
I have to agree with you.
Before it looks like the thread is hijacked with the argument though, I must say it comes down to personal preference, there is people who wish to have coins protected from the negative possibility's of ASIC mining, possibility's that are very real and the arguments I find are usually against ASIC technology, with that said Digibyte miners may not want to have to compete with the ASIC farms that are awesome and huge, imagine pointing a warehouse of gridseed miners at Digibyte, now with that done the guy with 20 GPU's cannot hardly mine a block, so its a trade off, let ASIC technology maintain your network and lose your community and support, or restrict ASIC's and keep the small miners the community and all the support, depends on what you want to accomplish and your perspective on crypto and development.
If someone owns a huge farm and controls network hashrate then they will kind of control the network in a twisted way if they like, take BCX for example, awhile ago he was throwing out the possibility's of what he could do to a blockchain cause he was in control of the pool with the most hash, I think he was just demonstrating what decentralized means and how the coin was not secured from being centralized, at that point he was the central figure that could sway the coin one way or another, Digibyte is more susceptible to this type of centralized mining if ASIC's start mining its network, every coin eventually will run the risk of such an attack and IMO especially the ones that are trying to be ASIC resistant, cause haters will be haters on every level.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maidsafe child pornography and terrorism and illegal firearms on: April 23, 2014, 05:10:55 PM
in several western jurisdictions including the us you will be held responsible for the content on your hard drive. it's your responsibility to check what other people are storing on your private property, especially in an environment that makes it more than likely that one of the data packages stored by others on your computer contains illegal content.

if you rent your basement to some italian guys who start piling dead bodies in it, it will not help much that you looked the other way whenever they arrived at your house.

I don't really think so.  I know people in the US who run Tor exit nodes, and the DoJ and LEO friends like to harass them but have no legal authority to shut them down.

You could be held responsible in some cases, all cases would be different, brings me back to knowingly and willfully, if you never have access to what is on your hard drive how could knowingly or willfully apply?
One cannot assume that an action I take is for wrong doing just cause somewhere in the world it has lead up to wrong doing, for instance - i have a PVC pipe in my suv capped on both ends that I have for Geocaching, my friends see that and instantly pipe bomb conversations get started as they Jokingly act as if they assume I for some reason had one in my vehicle, they know it can be used as a pipe bomb (although it would be some very poor firework with less boom than a cherry bomb) if I had intent of wrong doing, but I have it for a water tight geocaching tube, so although someone draws assumption of what it may be, it is very much just a recreational hobby tool for me.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maidsafe child pornography and terrorism and illegal firearms on: April 23, 2014, 03:55:50 PM
Nothing wrong with a few illegal firearms, IMHO, and terrorism is just a question of your own personal viewpoint...the only content I'd be unhappy with is, obviously, CP. Bah....

NXT debated this question a few weeks ago, though our blockchain storage system is still vaporware (like MaidSafe), and we came to the conclusion that the best way to deal with undesirable content on a BC storage system would be to have a robust reporting system in place, to allow users to flag dubious content.

However, this still opens up a big bag of worms for the people who will open up their storage space to MaidSafe (or NXT BC storage) content.
Can u monitor what is being placed on your hard drive by other MaidSafe users ? Are u legally liable for the contents of your own MaidSafe shared drive(s) ?

If you own a strip of storage units and rent one to someone that unknown to you, is a money laundering drug smuggler, are you legally liable?
Willfully- and Knowingly, or reasonably should have known is something to consider when wondering about if we are liable for something or not.
Gun Manufacturers are not yet held accountable for murder's, but its simple to say that each manufacturer will sell guns that will be used to kill.

Also have you considered Hazards argument that GPU's are not running at their full potential when mining the coins using the algorithm?

Got a link to where he said that?

That is what their project the internet would result in.  A circumvention to the law.

I can't support any anonymous transactions or internet as it'ld only be used to hurt people.

Fixed that for you. :-)

So what your saying is that the "Law" should have a hand in everything that everyone does? giving the "Law"  the power to strip privacy and honesty from the planet?
I live about 20 miles from the new NSA Data Center, and to think that the building is full of people working towards collecting private information in the name of protecting freedom is a sick thought, only cause I know that private information can be twisted to incriminate and hurt someone or to steal from a hard working person innovative idea's.
It is sad to think that anonymous transactions or internet can be abused, but the current state of criminal behavior tells us that criminals are going to be criminals and do the sick crap that they do anyway.
I hope that you and other people against anonymous protocols can explore the real reason's behind why such tools are created and how they can improve society and propel the world into a better place to live.

Could you start a poll to find out?
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the current state of the X11 algo? What is your favorite mining algo? on: April 23, 2014, 02:01:42 PM
Yup... kicks butt and very stable compared to scrypt of scrypt-n.
We are very seriously considering a switch to X11, thanks for the feedback!

When could someone plan for you to make this switch?
Also have you considered Hazards argument that GPU's are not running at their full potential when mining the coins using the algorithm?
Maybe wait until a miner is released to optimize the GPU's??
213  Other / Off-topic / Lucky enough to learn from others mistakes? on: April 23, 2014, 01:54:47 PM
I do not always get that opportunity.
Last night the wind blew over a 30' x 50', 14' tall shop/garage that we had just put trusses on  Sad
Its depressing, eye opening, and will change how I take direction from other's.
There is no way I am going to let someone who claims experience to trump my better judgement, I might just walk off the job next time if I am not in charge of the project to keep my name from being associated with such a mess.
In a way this situation is empowering, I am so enraged (in a collected manner) that my confidence in my own ability's and experience is bleeding out of every pore I have, I might just become difficult to work with during the next little while  Angry  Cool
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Take An Oath on: April 21, 2014, 12:16:44 PM
I make an oath to release another clone coin, hope you break yours to mine it  Grin

It will be my attempt to support BTC and the future of crypto as a decentralized currency, my aim is to bring new users to the community as a whole.

Now can you tell me why I would want to use the newest innovation and not go with a proven product that stands the test of time?

If yours is a clone coin, why should I mine it, and not BTC? Only about half of BTC have been mined. So it is open to anyone in the name of 'community as a whole'. Just because some people are late does not mean it is not open to everyone.
Yes BTC is open to anyone, when choosing to mine  a clone you are taking a risk that is larger than the risk with BTC, I am unsure of of the exact reason's someone could find to mine a clone, there is something about the psychological affect of the price of BTC that might drive you to to get cheaper coins, or, more easily obtainable anyway, I decided to switch to Alts because I could get more of them with less effort than BTC, I had high hopes of LTC taking off like BTC.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can a new coin break-in and be a big success? on: April 21, 2014, 05:30:53 AM
by making all celebs , enterpreneurs , politicians to use that coin Tongue

This is it, with a coder next to you that can take care of the developing department, the community needs to be built around the network, you need to have some type of exposure that can lift you above network failure, if you can get a celeb or politician to use it then you would get alot of other user's that come with them.

Aren't people often pressured by their peers to say no to peer pressure?

Would that be called anti-peer pressure?

Is that what you want to call it? Or do you have something else you could call it?
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NAS] What logo should NAS choose? on: April 20, 2014, 11:54:02 PM
The second one obviously.
219  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: April 20, 2014, 09:27:55 PM
most probably not, if it has not been solved by now it's most probably gone for eternety don't you think?

Depends I suppose, how long is eternity?
Shouldn't that be about… 10000 years?

isn't eternity infinite or unending time ?
Yeah but like, isn't 10000 years reaaaaaally long?

Infinity and undending are the same?

Are they not the same?
Is this a conversation about the definition of a millennium?
220  Other / Off-topic / Re: End of US Dollar on: April 20, 2014, 03:38:33 PM
It wont collapse. They wont let it. Bitcoin will probably collapse before the USD.

that's what I meant , US economy is tightly regulated and Bitcoin price fluctuates with even a single FUD news.

Ya, I wish this FUD fluctuation was something I could understand, why do people forget that great wealth is being poured into Bitcoin just a soon as they hear about some robbery or scam? It makes no sense.
