That is what their project would result in.  A circumvention to the law.

I can't support any anonymous transactions or internet as it'ld only be used to hurt people.

There ain't no Revolution like a NEMolution.  The only solution is Bitcoin's dissolution! NEM!

So what your saying is that the "Law" should have a hand in everything that everyone does? giving the "Law"  the power to strip privacy and honesty from the planet?
I live about 20 miles from the new NSA Data Center, and to think that the building is full of people working towards collecting private information in the name of protecting freedom is a sick thought, only cause I know that private information can be twisted to incriminate and hurt someone or to steal from a hard working person innovative idea's.
It is sad to think that anonymous transactions or internet can be abused, but the current state of criminal behavior tells us that criminals are going to be criminals and do the sick crap that they do anyway.
I hope that you and other people against anonymous protocols can explore the real reason's behind why such tools are created and how they can improve society and propel the world into a better place to live.

All the data is encrypted on the network. If you have the keys, you can decrypt it, otherwise you have no idea what you're hosting (and assumably zero liability).

Not sure the zero liability flies actually.

That's for the department of justice, etc to figure out. Smiley It provides pretty reasonable grounds for it, though.

Nothing wrong with a few illegal firearms, IMHO, and terrorism is just a question of your own personal viewpoint...the only content I'd be unhappy with is, obviously, CP. Bah....

NXT debated this question a few weeks ago, though our blockchain storage system is still vaporware (like MaidSafe), and we came to the conclusion that the best way to deal with undesirable content on a BC storage system would be to have a robust reporting system in place, to allow users to flag dubious content.

However, this still opens up a big bag of worms for the people who will open up their storage space to MaidSafe (or NXT BC storage) content.
Can u monitor what is being placed on your hard drive by other MaidSafe users ? Are u legally liable for the contents of your own MaidSafe shared drive(s) ?

If you own a strip of storage units and rent one to someone that unknown to you, is a money laundering drug smuggler, are you legally liable?
Willfully- and Knowingly, or reasonably should have known is something to consider when wondering about if we are liable for something or not.
Gun Manufacturers are not yet held accountable for murder's, but its simple to say that each manufacturer will sell guns that will be used to kill.

in several western jurisdictions including the us you will be held responsible for the content on your hard drive. it's your responsibility to check what other people are storing on your private property, especially in an environment that makes it more than likely that one of the data packages stored by others on your computer contains illegal content.

if you rent your basement to some italian guys who start piling dead bodies in it, it will not help much that you looked the other way whenever they arrived at your house.

I don't really think so.  I know people in the US who run Tor exit nodes, and the DoJ and LEO friends like to harass them but have no legal authority to shut them down.

You could be held responsible in some cases, all cases would be different, brings me back to knowingly and willfully, if you never have access to what is on your hard drive how could knowingly or willfully apply?
One cannot assume that an action I take is for wrong doing just cause somewhere in the world it has lead up to wrong doing, for instance - i have a PVC pipe in my suv capped on both ends that I have for Geocaching, my friends see that and instantly pipe bomb conversations get started as they Jokingly act as if they assume I for some reason had one in my vehicle, they know it can be used as a pipe bomb (although it would be some very poor firework with less boom than a cherry bomb) if I had intent of wrong doing, but I have it for a water tight geocaching tube, so although someone draws assumption of what it may be, it is very much just a recreational hobby tool for me.
