Why don't we implement a community "SHITCOIN DUMPSTER", where you can throw all your useless, going-nowhere crypto and be paid for them in BC, minus a 20% donation to BC Foundation or multipool bonuses? I'd love to clear out my shitcoin closet, get a few more BC, and support the cause. That's killing 3 birds with one stone!
I think that could be a good idea!
Not sure if i have anytime to code something up for it, but i wouldn't mind doing it manually?
Could sort a page out on the blackcoin site, I dont mind helping if i can Smiley.

And who's gonna sell BC fot Shitcoins if all BC holders are not selling?

Also BC production is halted at 1% per year

IF nobody is selling BC who's gonna buy the shitcoins you are gonna mine?

It just doesnt make sense.
203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 06, 2014, 02:19:30 AM
Mintcoin just forked...

How and what exactly happened there? Cannot find any technical explanation in their thread.

Just had a hardfork to go to PoS only, nothing more. Will take some time for everyone to switch.
Don't start FUD.

Wasn't my intention Smiley So everything is as planned, good luck to them!

I was curious too. I don't post there to ask as they'd probably look at my history and think I was trolling. I didn't want to ask here because I didn't want to come across like I was spreading FUD. I do have some Mintcoin too (minimal amount now, but still) and didn't know what forking was (a quick google search helped), but I wanted to make sure I wasn't screwing myself since it's a new term to me, haha.

Forking is the same thing that happened to BlackCoin on march 23. its software, they find something to repair, repair it and forked.
Nothing extrange in cryptos.

I have an unconfirmed minting. It was generated several days ago.
I don't know how to handle it.
Two choice:
1. How to make it finish confirmation?
2. How to cancel it?

could somebody tell me how to?

Thats an orphan block, remenber you are mining using POS.

When you find a block but nobody confirm it, it became orphan.

But orphan is not a problem since your "coin age" that is the "hash power" for POS mining dont get loose, it reset to original if the block is orphan so you can continue trying to find a block.

The problem is that theres just more information that needed on the client. IMHO. Orphans should be exlcluded from view so nobody get this feeling of something going wrong.

If you have more doubts dont mind in asking me.

Always willing to help.

I am syncing fine since the update to 1.7 however no minting has occurred since I updated. I have several chunks that should be minting (over 25+ days) so this is starting to look a little suspicious.

I updated on mac, did nothing and everything work perfect

im even having less orphan blocks than before block 220000

Do want mintcoin team says if you still are not synced.

Heres OSx 1.7 client, -mandatory update.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zghumclu249iw4a/mintcoin-v1.7-macosx.dmg

- hard fork at block 220000. You need to update before this!
- properly fixed window reopening issue

Tips appriciated.  Cheesy
MrXW1RKLDe8VMNwTwLwSiKuATN5M74EL85

is this official OSX client?

I have no idea about what is "official", but mintcointeam asked me to do this for them.
I also made 1.6 wallet before (see OP).
1.6 i made only from entusiasm over OSx. Im not even mac user myself. I use win8.1 daily. This 1.7 i made because i was asked.

I also compiled windows-qt myself. Made it little more compact, since i dislike useless space on my screens.
Heres my compact version of mintcoin-1.7 windows qt, if anyone desires the same:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/658eteq94h8b123/Mintcoin-1.7win.zip

There are very small changes in this wallet.
- downsized splash image
- downsized and cropped wallet image
- newer QT version (doesnt really matter)
- made it open up smaller and it can scale down some more (you can drag all windows as big or small as you like).
- 3 recent transactions on overview page instead of 6.

and a picture of how it looks:

Sweet, thanks 10.000 to you pal.

Is there an active android wallet development? I saw people mention Bigchirv, but couldn't see any of his posts in this thread, maybe I missed it.

I'm thinking on minting on a mobile device. Minting uses 100% cpu to find a hash, much like PoW, but using owner's coins. A phone user would not want to enable it.

On the other hand, a tablet-only user might want it if it's her only computer, so android wallet should ideally have minting, but the ability to turn it off. Or options like "mint only when charging", "mint only when charging and battery > 80%", "mint only when screen is locked"

I'm thinking about the first use case, to run mintcoin wallet on a phone, but the user doesn't want his phone to mint at all. What happens if I share my private key between desktop wallet and android wallet? I mean desktop wallet can mint all the time, and to sync my android wallet, I can show it a QR code from desktop wallet and voila, from that point android wallet can spend coins (and all future coins) from my desktop wallet. They should be able to track their balances over the blockchain.

Does anyone know how the QT clients react when the same wallet.dat is used on two computers simultaneously? Do they notice funds in an account are gone if they see an outgoing transaction in the blockchain, or do they assume only they can initiate transfers?

Maybe what I image is not possible due to changes being sent to new generated addresses, but I'm not sure.

I think the best is to let it mint by choice on preferences, and by default it will only mint wile charging.

Simple. but the client need to have the same functions as the desktop one.

In fact is a desktop one for android desktop/tablets

Than can be used on phones.

Thats how i see it.

why donate to toward a generic wallet that is going to be built first and used by everyone anyway?

the thing that makes the androids wallet something someone would pay for is if it were exclusive to MINT and you could use a tablet or mobile device to mint

otherwise it's a generic wallet app I'd probably never use

the reason to have a mint exclusive app that mints is that it make MINT something special and therefore more valuable, that's what I would be interested in paying to develop

Sure get prepared to pay 50 btc for a wallet from scratch..

U get what u pay for... Android wallet is gpl so I dont even know if you can close it since your using open source base. Alot of people still havent clued in to the open source movement.. which allowed you to even have your mintcoin.. now you want your pie and eat it too.

Don't get me wrong I'm not opposed to the creation of a generic open source wallet that any PoS coin could use. I just don't see enough value in it for me to donate as much as I would for one for exclusive use that could mint. However if everyone else in the other communities etc donates to make an open source wallet I'll throw in a little too.

You shouldnt have to pay anything for it.. the premine scammer should allocate atleast 1% of the premine to the largest bounty and bam its done.. I cant see any serious investment going on here with a 700 million preminr which is not even used for intended purposes.

We, The Mintcoin Fundation is in control of the premine and will be expended in LONG TERM PROJECTS.

The android wallet is something we can accomplish for ourself, Bigchirv is willing to help program it.

well it looks like the wallet bounty has undergone some transformation

I withdraw my pledge until until something sensible is worked out

I pledge the mount you were pledging, and the one of everyone that what to withdraw if we do it Open Source.
