201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bandcamp and Bitcoin on: August 26, 2014, 11:32:04 AM
It is really shocking to realize that a merchant like Bandcamp is yet to approve BTC as a means of payment. Its as if they are not updated on the wide spread acceptability level and confidence that s dawn on bitcoin. The earlier they realize this i think the better for them though this is just my own perspective on this issue.

I don't think it's shocking. There's not many merchants that do accept bitcoin currently but more and more will come around to the technology, especially when they realize the benefits. For now at least we know they're considering it.
202  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fed.Gov. Spending $1 Million Creating Database To Track “Hate Speech” On Twitter on: August 26, 2014, 11:20:11 AM
"Suspicious memes" lol. So I guess this will just be used to track or flag anyone who voices a political opinion they don't like. Criticise the US or Isreal and you'll probably end up on some terrorist watchlist and get given grief at every airport you ever use.
203  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dawkins: Immoral Not To Abort Down’s Syndrome Child on: August 26, 2014, 11:17:11 AM
you are here in the bitcoin forum.

so here your answer: its like giving birth to a broken coin. Would you do it? Or would you change it? No emotions.

Not really a fair or valid comparison. There's also a difference between 'changing' something and terminating it.

Not sure what the outrage is here, aborting a child with Down's Syndrone is completely acceptable from my point of view. It's the choice of the mother (and father) whether they want to terminate their fetus.

The outrage is probably down to the language he used. Maybe it is acceptable, but I think its unnaceptable to say it's immoral not to do it.
204  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OpenBazaar.org - Decentralized network that allows for peer to peer commerce on: August 26, 2014, 11:10:49 AM
Hope they can pull this off.

Pretty surprising that no bitcoin retail auction start up manage to succeed after bitmit shut down. Can't be that hard to launch and market a new platform and host it in a country that doesn't regulate crypto currency.

There is one: Cryptothrift https://cryptothrift.com/

I've used it a few times and can recommend it.
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bandcamp and Bitcoin on: August 26, 2014, 09:41:30 AM
It's always nice to see more merchants at least acknowledge that they are considering accepting bitcoin. After all I think there's no risk to any company accepting btc providing they use a payment processor.
206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A new religion: Shitlam on: August 26, 2014, 09:39:19 AM
The word you're looking for is Islamism, it's Islam as a political ideology.

Exactly. Arent pretty much all religions distorted and taken out of context to suit their own political agenda? This militant or fundamentalist Islam is no different. Anyone with half a brain knows that this terrorism isn't what Islam is about to the other 99%.
207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dawkins: Immoral Not To Abort Down’s Syndrome Child on: August 26, 2014, 09:36:54 AM
Life begins at conception.

Depends what you define as "life". Are you religious?

It is not her body. It's the baby's life. Sometimes, it's not always about a woman's body.

It is her body and therefore she has ultimate say in the matter. I'm sure you would hold a much different opinion were you a woman.

That being said, aborting a child due to severe defect is a matter left up to the medical professionals, not 'thinkers' and 'educated' peoples who believes morality and ethics is their domain (LOL).

And yet you are here thinking this is your domain.
208  Economy / Services / Re: Looking 4 escrow on: August 25, 2014, 01:17:11 PM
I can understand people wanting to start out and get their name out there as 'trustable' but it can often have negative impact on you if you don't become one the long and hard way. If you're too new or a unfamiliar face the eagerness to hold on to other peoples money can seem pretty shady even if you've handled a few smaller trades before. Being an escrow takes time to build up rep and that's the way it should be. Always look for evidence of many previous trades. IF they've held on to many trades before and for big amounts they're not likely to run off with your 0.05btc.
209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Do People Believe Bitcoin Will Replace Fiat? on: August 25, 2014, 01:12:52 PM
I don't think it need to replace fiat, but it may eventually. For the time being I think it will coexist peacefully and grow. I think bitcoin could exist alongside all other currencies as like a one world currency where you could spend it all over the world. I think that would be pretty cool.
210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im poor as it gets on: August 25, 2014, 01:06:27 PM
If I invested when BTC was 1000 like a lot of other people did, I would be fucked as we speak.

True. But if you had constantly bought 100$ worth of BTC/month over the past year, where would you be then with your investment?

You wouldn't be "fucked". All you would need to do was hold the coins and hope that they recover and go above and beyond, which I believe they will do.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you love Bitcoin? on: August 25, 2014, 11:33:30 AM
I think I love the possibilities and potential of bitcoin more than anything. It definitely has the potential to really change the world or at least disturb or threaten current banking or money transmitter services.
212  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-23] Bitcoin May Get a Whole Lot More Useful Soon on: August 23, 2014, 11:26:48 AM
Well it's not actually ebay discussing accepting it but an ebay owned company and this is about the 50th thread on the matter.
213  Other / Off-topic / Re: Suicide tourism? on: August 23, 2014, 11:17:37 AM
I don't really understand why people need to travel to a foreign country to commit suicide. It seems like such a stress and added cost, and why can't they just take a drug overdose at home of painkillers or whatever. That's all these clincs would probably give them anyway (or some other fatal amount of another drug).
214  Other / Off-topic / Re: General Football Discussion - New Poll! La Liga Title? on: August 23, 2014, 11:14:06 AM
Anyone know a good streaming site for the Premier League games?

I'm going for a 1-1 draw between Villa Vs Newcastle. Same result for the Everton vs Arsenal game.
215  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: August 20, 2014, 03:34:48 PM
My stats didn't update. How it happened?!

If its true that your activity didnt update its probably because you posted before the new period started so youll now just have to wait an hour for it to update since youve just posted.

217  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 20, 2014, 01:22:45 PM
Pretty surprised that I was cut from the campaign to be honest.

I wonder what criteria the 3rd party was using to determine "quality posts".

I'm not going to PM Stunna about it of course, as he said in the PM that it's non-negotiable. But thought I would at least register my skepticism here with whatever methods were used. Tongue

Third party?  What third party?

I thought primedice and stunna decided who got cut and who didn't.

I'll tell you why you probably got cut.  Half of your posts are in off-topic, as compared to over 95% of mine being in alt-coins where the miners and speculative investors are [people with coins to spend and an appetite for risk].

That's just my guess but I bet I'm right on the money.  I'd be curious to know how many other guys made it and if they have a very high post % in the alt-coin section.

Cheers!

Don't forget that off-topic posts don't count so if they were claimed, it is a likely reason for the booting..*shurgs*

Posts in the off-topic subforum count, but not posts that are off topic or irrelevant to the discussion. I also don't think posting in off-topic will get you any more or less hits than anywhere else, though who clicks on your links is compeletly random and there's obviously no stats to prove where the most popular forums are.
218  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 13, 2014, 02:08:02 PM
Post count: 67

What do u mean ? Are u joining this sig campaign with post count 67 ?

It looks that way, though maybe he was just writing it down for reference, though no doubt he wont be able to find it again later hehe.

If so, you need to enroll with the form in the op.
219  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-13] CD: BitPagos Brings Bitcoin to 8,000 Convenience Stores With Ripio on: August 13, 2014, 02:07:14 PM
Hmm, glad to see something in Argentina happening. They could really use bitcoin over there right now. I wonder if this is similar to Zipzap?
220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who can tell me what going on with the price? on: August 13, 2014, 02:04:31 PM
It's because of Alex Jones. He started accepting it and now the world thinks it's crazy.

Seriously though, there is no sense in the bitcoin world. It'll probably have bounced back within a few days.
