201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: March 29, 2024, 09:41:01 PM
Hi there to all of you. One of the most amazing things I've noticed about Bitcoin is that it doesn't have an age requirement before using it or creating a wallet. In traditional banking, however, one must be 16 or older to open an account, unless they have assistance from a guide who helped them do so. Additionally, no matter how young you are, no one can question you about how you make money because no one keeps an eye on your wallet.
This is where liberty and freedom of Bitcoin comes to play. The fiat and the traditional banks will give you a lot of conditions while bitcoin will give you no condition. In as much as you can use the internet and able to accept the consequences of your decisions, you are good to go with bitcoin investment. The only thing that people fear is the technicality of bitcoin. But then, one doesn't need to be a guru in order to invest in bitcoin. A basic knowledge is enough irrespective of age.
202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Back again on: March 26, 2024, 11:59:01 PM
Hi there to all of you. I haven't been active on this forum  due to the demanding nature of my work as an interior decorator. However, recently, I've noticed that bitcoin is rising in value on the global market, and this has my interest in Bitcoin. I would like to know how people typically manage to balance their offline and online work, and how I can adjust to this.
Welcome back to the forum.
From what I deduced from Op, I can say that you have no online work. You only work offline and which is tedious or demanding on you. Being in the forum is not a work because you can just decide to be visiting the forum once everyday. That once could be 30mins to 1 HR before you sleep. It can be done while being on bed if you are a mobile user.
Also, investing in bitcoin is not also an online work because it can only take you a few mins to buy bitcoin. All these are just passive and shouldn't inconvenience anyone's working conditions.
203  Economy / Speculation / Re: My instincts on the value of bitcoin from now to halving on: March 26, 2024, 11:50:23 PM
I don't mean to predict the market cap price but my conscience whispers to me that the current rise up again or bitcoin would be the last rise before halving.
As at the time of making this thread,  the price was $70K + which we're aware that it formally broke its ATH even when itsy not yet at the bull run before it depreciated again but my instincts is whispering me that this current up rise again would be the last rise before halving.

Do you have some psychological intake or some personal opinion in related to my emotion?
My personal opinion is that, since a new record is set this year, which is BTC reaching a new ATH even before halving, it is therefore possible for anything to happen in bitcoin. Nothing is so impossible and nothing is so possible. A little positive fundamental could possibly push the market higher than expected and vice versa. It is always nice to be acquainted with both the fundamental and technical analysis and then spice.it.up with psychological intelligence.
204  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 190K in 2024? on: March 26, 2024, 11:40:40 PM
The current ATH arrives at an "unexpected" moment: pre-Halving, that is unprecedented, and the selling situation, that has stay to a base (+60k) , which is important, since it has put on uncertainty, for those users who wanted "flats" between 20k-40k.

2024,190k; no
2024,>60k<=100k;yes

I am not a fan of exaggerating predictions. Even when I was in school and write exams, I'll have to understand score myself even when I know I have over performed. When the results is out, my performance will overtake my expectations. This same thing happens in bitcoin predictions. Even if I think bitcoin will make $190k, I will not be bold to make such prediction, it will look like exaggeration. I have read an article that $173 is the target.
205  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Philippines bans Binance on: March 26, 2024, 11:24:23 PM
It seems that binance is having more issues with different countries after CZ resigned as the CEO. Actually, CZ created many problems for the exchange he founded and now is the repercussion time. Is Binance still gonna be in existence in few years time? In my country, the government has detained some Binance executives. Removed Naira trading spot and deposit and withdrawal to with naira.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why you need to have spare USDT in this bullrun. on: March 26, 2024, 11:17:36 PM
It would be great to have USDT reserves now. start buying gradually when prices start to fall and it will be a pretty good investment. I also do management and hold spare cash to buy in stages when the crypto market crashes. The next bullrun will arrive soon so you have to buy some assets to hold until the next bullrun arrives. Buying assets such as Bitcoin and ETH is recommended.
We should be having our mindset ready for the next bullrun which will coming days, I don't mind missing out on my wor schedules because this is lifetime opportunity. Bitcoin and Ethereum moves in the same way. We should have spare USDT because they're necessary, in case where we need gas fees for crypto transactions, our spare USDT will do the worm. We keep our plans ready for next bull run, I know it's not going to be easy an one but grabbing solid entries will motivate one to reach key phases.
Having spare USDT will be nice but the temptation of using it wrongly will be there. Either on the wrong coins or before the bull run comes. In no doubt, USDT is necessary to organise oneself towards the bullrun and it is more important to traders to safe their funds in terms of uncertainty.
The most important question is how to know promising projects to invest in this bull run.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: paying taxes on altcoins on: March 26, 2024, 10:57:10 PM
Let's say I am under 18 and made like 120 dollars trading shit coins with Solana. Would I have to file taxes on that? I got a little bit of Solana from the helium app, transferred it to a personal wallet, and made like 120 dollars off a less than 10-dollar investment. Do I have to file taxes this year or should I just wait till I'm 18 in like 8-10 months?
Cryptocurrency taxes differ from country to country. What is obtainable in one country is different from what is obtainable in another country. So, it is important that you consult a legal practitioner or a tax agent in your country sitting your case. If you are unsure they will change the case for you, better ask some other persons (ordinary citizens) they will have to direct you better. Meanwhile, you might like to mention your country let's check it out here.
208  Other / Meta / Re: Reasons of be inactive on: March 26, 2024, 10:36:49 PM
Op have you also observed that some people who are active on the forum and campaign participant actually took a break from the forum leaving also their active campaign? The truth is that we can not conclude on the reason why some people take a break from the forum unless they open up to us but if you are so sure that lack of campaign is their only reason then you should come with an open evidence from each and everyone of them who have left the forum I believe everyone of us will believe you after that.
Many people have different reasons to take a break from the forum. The forum is an online platform which is far different from the real world. Many people are facing many things without our consent. The case of Leo who has been battling a deadly disease for over a decade without our knowledge. When he finally opened up, we were all surprised. I will not be wrong to say that there are other persons here suffering same fate.

Some people take break to face their relationship. Some take break because of work and many other reasons. That is why we see people in active campaigns and yet take break from the forum.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: March 26, 2024, 10:16:24 PM
It is very difficult for Manchester United to get into the top 4 places. Considering the tough rivals in the Premier League along with the point difference, I think it would be better for the league to fight to get to the European league. They had some good games against the best teams in the league, but considering the poor performance in the UCL this year, it was not the year they wanted at all.

That is not going to happen, at least I have to say I would be shocked if somehow ten Hag manages his team to achieve the top four, but as of now I would rule that possibility out at 99%. I don't know what would have to happen in order for them to climb up the table, but Manchester United is still facing Liverpool and Arsenal and some other pretty good teams. I doubt that now out of a sudden they turn into a top team and win most of their games. Even then it may not be enough as they are 9 points behind. Last season they somehow did it, but not this time.
The problems of Manchester United is inconsistency. The inconvenience might be attributed to unavailability of Manchester United players due to prolonged injuries. Erik Ten Hang has never had a handful of players available for him to choose. If defenders are available today, midfielders will not and if midfielders are available, strikers will be lacking. So, I applaud Erik Ten Hang for using an inconsistent team to go this far.

Manchester United might not be able to qualify for the top 4 this season but the management will have to buy new players for the next season in order to fight well.
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End Goal or Keep HODLing? on: March 25, 2024, 04:34:37 PM
I wouldn't have said this but I am much more concerned about the fact that we have been hearing so many people talking about holding Bitcoin for the long term and never selling. I find it so confusing that after investing so much in Bitcoin for years we won't want to sell our bitcoin till we die.

I've been buying Bitcoin since last year when it dipped in December i know it's not long. Since then I have held my bitcoin firmly regardless of the price increase this year I still decided to sit on it. Although I do not have enough Bitcoin because I have little money then if I were to sell my holdings now I would have 3 times of I invested.

Also, I have the belief that Bitcoin will keep breaking new ATH forever. Should I leave my Bitcoin forever without selling it or set a goal that I have in mind and when it reaches that goal I sell and take my profits?

What do you do?

On what principles guide your actions in the realm of Bitcoin (BTC)?

There is no standard laid down principle about bitcoin investment. This means that your script is quite different from that of your neighbor, you cannot because someone else have done such a thing and begin to do it. You don't have to ask us if you will leave your bitcoin untouched till you die. If you are rich enough that you don't need the profit from your bitcoin investment for anything, then leave it forever. But then if you are not sure of how to pay your house rent and your children fees in the next semester and yet you have profit in Bitcoin, why will you keep it forever?
There's an African adage that says "No one tells someone who lost his mother to cry". Set your goals and be rigid with them, but when reality strikes, no one will advise you to do the needful.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a scam on: March 25, 2024, 03:08:15 PM
Is Bitcoin a scam
As long as I am certain, I know that bitcoin has long grown pass the stage of skepticism (whether or not it is a scam). Bitcoin has vindicated itself several times amidst all kinds of allegations of it being scam or some kind of Ponzi schemes. Maybe what people should be asking or considering is how long bitcoin is going to last. Whether bitcoin will be in existence as long as internet is functional or it will be defeated by the government one day.

You know what the biggest  scam is :

Bitcoin  was and will never be a scam

**CoinL
What you call the biggest fraud happens now with bitcoin also. Many people in different countries pay hugely in the name of cryptocurrency tax. The government of many countries have discovered how to successfully task bitcoin or crypto earnings.
212  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does number of traders affect volatility? on: March 25, 2024, 02:51:38 PM

Does the number of traders directly affect the volatility of the market? If it does, can we assume that trading was easier before with less traders (less volatility) than now when there are more traders, and the market more volatile?
It all depends on what you mean by trading being easier. Can we say that trading is easier when we are able to enter the market and exit successfully. Or will the definition of easy in your context be making profit. If the former is the case, we can say that trading was easier in the past but if the later becomes the case we can say that it wasn't easy in the past. A day trader cannot make profit if the coins do not move in relative positions. The more volatile the market the more profitable it will be. So an almost stagnant market will make no profit. This is the reason I should conclude that traders are making more profits now that the volatility is high than before. Remember, I am not using bitcoin as a reference, rather I am referring to the general cryptocurrency market.
213  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Quick way to learn bitcoin trading on: March 25, 2024, 02:00:57 PM
Re: Quick way to learn bitcoin trading
I am not just comfortable with your caption. You could have just asked for ways to learn bitcoin trading and not quick way to learn bitcoin trading. The word quick is making me think you want to steps. And we know that in cryptocurrency trading, the basics are so much important that they are not supposed to be jumped. It is the basics that takes much time to the learnt and when you eventually learn it, you can start implementing every other method from the idea gotten from the basics.
So, if you desire to learn bitcoin trading, just have a permissible time frame at heart but don't go for everything so quick that will make you jump steps. There are alot of articles and journals online and there are offline coaches willing to teach.
214  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI usage, 3rd time in a few months on: March 25, 2024, 12:58:49 PM
If I were Borovichok and I am using AI to generate posts, and I am eventually caught upto 3 times and got lucky to remain in my campaign and also not banned, I will definitely desist from using AI and consider myself lucky for not only  getting a second chance but also a third chance. But for Borovichok to come out more than once to defend himself gives me the impression that he is not using AI. Maybe he discovered some kind of app that enhances his grammar and make it look more sophisticated or AI like.

At this time, my sincere advice to Borovichok is to desist from whatever he is using to put his account in danger and suspicion. Just be yourself and be at peace with the forum members.
215  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a place called Africa really Exist in the world Economy on: March 25, 2024, 12:20:11 PM
I am an African, but I bet you if we begin to talk the African thing today there are a lot of things that are going to evolve which we might not be able to handle here. The African problem is actually more than the corrupt leaders that we are accusing. This set of politicians were not like this from the beginning, our forefathers we are upright and truthful and not very close to corruption but after the emergence of the westerners many things changed about our culture and believe. The corrupt leaders learnt the wrong way and they are unable to do without what they learn while the teachers have actually changed from the way of corruption. The African problem is more than Colonization, it is a long orchestrated conspiracy and it will not change any time soon. It is African that can save themselves and they can't do this when they are heavily dependent on their oppressors.
216  Economy / Economics / Re: Farming and it importance to the economy on: March 25, 2024, 11:32:23 AM
They can do that by granting interest free loans, Education of farmers and giving out fertilizer to farmers
Farming is an important aspect of every economy
Let discuss guys what do you think about farming to economy
We should not only concentrate on the ability of the government to provide farming facilities or grant loans to farmers, provide fertilizers or even give outright grants. We should also look at the willingness of the Citizens (especially the youths), to engage in farming. In my country the immediate past government concentrated in agriculture but only certain part of the country (The Northerners), embraced the gesture and the result wasn't as resounding as it ought to be. Most youths do not want to stain their hands for any reasons.

Any country that doesn't have policies that supports agriculture is at the risk of famine even if they are financially strong they can't import everything needed for their people. And every politicians knew that but they are not giving much priority because it doesn't put much money in their pockets when they support agricultural activities of individuals so they are not giving importance to it like they do in other kinds that involves corporates.
Yes, it also happened in my country. My forefathers and fathers depended on Agriculture and they flourished in almosy zero inflation country. But the government suddenly abandoned Agriculture and focused on oil and today everything has shattered.
217  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Do you ever believe such story if yes how true is it on: March 25, 2024, 11:12:48 AM
Killi-We is popular name in Nigeria, especially in the Igbo extraction. All that was written about the man is the truth apart from one paragraph. My mother told me the stories of him when I was a kid. He was a real superman. But I am surprised why his tummy was such big and yet he command such a baffling strength.

The part of the story I consider fallacy is
Quote
Story had it that when he died, his body was deposited in Aladinma mourtuary, he in the night, will carry don all other corpeses and strech himself on them. He continued this till he was rejected by the morgue. He was real.
Although people from my side of the world believe such a thing happens and they had often times acted it in Nollywood, but in the case of Killi we, I'm not sure it happened.
218  Other / Meta / Re: Only Bitcoin related posts are allowed in Local Languages Section? on: March 25, 2024, 10:56:12 AM
This is one one the challenges that a local board without its child boards can face, it will be difficult to know if a post is worth deleting or not, because both bitcoin discussions posts, politics, economics and altcoins posts were all contained under the same general main board for the local board, but if a request is made on meta to Theymos and the activities of the local board has experience an increase, the admin may use that as a consideration in granting them their request, any poster who does not meet up with the required boards posts will have his post deleted then because such would have been regarded as off topic.
I consider it as almost meaningless to have a local board without child boards. This is because I consider local boards as a forum inside the forum. The local board should be totally complete on its own such that anyone that does not understand English can settle confidently in the local board and would not be missing any significant thing in the general forum. We all understand that the main essence of the larger forum is Bitcoin, but then if I am in my local board I should be able to hang out with people and also discuss the things that affect my country most, if this avenue is are not provided for me to discuss, it will therefore render the essence of local board meaningless. If you are local board is not complete yet due to the number of engagement, I will advise that you people should manage what you have until theymos find time to create child boards in your local board.
219  Other / Meta / Re: [REQUEST] the wall observer thread should be pinned. on: March 24, 2024, 11:51:33 PM
The thing that makes the Wall Observer thread so great is that it is resilient on it's own.  It doesn't need to be pinned like other weak threads that are here today and forgotten tomorrow.  The Wall Observer thread lives on through it's own means.  If you want to help the Wall Observer thread live on in it's infamy for all time you need not worry about pins, you just need to participate along with everyone else.  That's been historically enough to keep it around and I suspect that will do the job going forward as well.
Wall Observe is a monumental thread. It is qualified by age and also by engagement. With the availability of a bit in that thread, it's always going to be at the first page and if not at the top of the speculation board. I am of the opinion that WO should just be left the way it is. I have heard many accusations about WO such as;
  • It has turned to a merit fishing and sharing thread
  • Someone even raised a topic to deactivate signature in WO thread
  • I have also read about the emergence of shit posts in the thread
But all these didn't change anything. WO is like a thread in auto pilot, maybe we allow it continue that way
220  Other / Meta / Re: Poll: Acceptability of Signature Wearer's Use of Insults and Foul Language on: March 24, 2024, 08:39:25 AM
Sorry, but I don't understand why it should be easier for a mod to find insults than for a signature manager?

If I meet a thread full of insults and foul words, I can easily use the report button and if a few more people do so, a mod will be notified to take necessary actions. In the other hand, a campaign manager might not be aware of such a thread. I doubt that campaign managers read posts of their campaign participants verbatim. Unless a particular participant is of the habit of insulting always, then the manager should have to keep eyes on him.
